AN: So, no apparently I'm not finished writing from the episode "Furt". Hope you all enjoy.
Prompt: Jonathan Hays - "I know that expression. What have you done?" - 'Earth Star Voyager'
As she finished breakfast, Carole wasn't surprised that her son hadn't made an appearance yet. Finn never had been a morning person. Getting him up for school had been a chore ever since the first day of first grade. However, given the busy morning they had in preparation for the wedding this afternoon, Carole hoped waking Finn up wouldn't be to arduous of a task.
Stepping into the doorway, Carole was surprised to find Finn not only up, but also already wearing his dress pants and a white dress shirt. The lanky teenager had his MP3 player in his hand and was listening to it via ear buds. Whatever he was listening to was something that he was practicing a dance routine given the dance steps he was going through.
Glancing up from watching his feet, Finn noticed his mother standing in the doorway. He immediately stopped in mid-step, reaching up to yank the ear buds out of his ears.
"How long have you been standing there?" Finn asked, his cheeks growing pink.
"Not long," Carole replied, amused at her son's embarrassment. "What were you doing?"
"Just practicing for something special me and the other Glee Club members came up with as a surprise," Finn replied.
Carole could see her son's uneasiness as he replied. She also knew how Finn's surprises could turn out not as he had planned. Finn had a good heart, but sometimes figuring out the consequences of his actions seemed to elude them.
"What are you up to?" she asked.
"It's a surprise. I promise it'll be a good one. Mike helped me with it. You know Mike. If it wasn't a good idea he would have talked me out of it."
Carole nodded slowly. Finn had a point. Mike was much more aware of others' feelings than her own son. If he was involved, at least she could be fairly sure no one's feelings would accidently be hurt.
"Okay. I've got breakfast ready. How about you come eat. There is still a lot to do before the wedding."
"Okay," Finn replied, not about to skip breakfast even to make sure he knew the dance steps Mike had hurriedly came up with. As much as he wanted this performance to go well, to show Kurt and their parents that he was ready to accept this union, he also didn't want to go through the day starving.
