Super Mario Sunshine Adventure

Episode 8: The Red Coin Fish

Allowing her eyes to flutter open, the pink hedgehog rolled onto her side, breathing out a heavy yawn. When she was through yawning, she got into a sitting position and glanced to her side, watching Princess Peach in her slumber. The blonde princess was too busy dealing with her dreams and Amy was now bored. There was nothing to do in their confinement.

Sighing forlornly, Amy reached into her dress pocket and took out the bracelet that she was going to give to her hero. Staring at it and examining it, the pink hedgehog wondered how Sonic was doing. How far were they from rescuing them? When would they get there? Amy was about to sigh again, but then a voice broke her out of her thoughts and caused her to freeze.

"Feeling comfortable in there?" questioned a gruff and deep voice on the other side of the iron bars that kept them in their cell. Well, their cell wasn't dirty or anything. It was quite spacious and there was carpet, beds, a closet, a mirror, and a bathroom and everything. Sure, they were prisoners, but they were being well taken care of.

Amy raised her head and her green eyes found Bowser standing on the other side of the bars, a malicious grin decorating his facial features. A frown jumped onto her face and the pink hedgehog climbed to her feet, jabbing her hands to her hips and jutting one hip out in a defiant manner.

"Bowser!" she talked irefully, totally unhappy. "Are you going to let us go today? You know Mario and Sonic are just going to come here and kick your butt, right? They'll save us!"

An unrestrained burst of laughter came out of Bowser's mouth and he shook his big head, showing his sharp teeth. "Don't be so sure of that, pink hedgehog! HA! This time, Mario and his silly buddies will FAIL! You and the princess will remain here forever!" Bowser went on like a lunatic. "Peach will become my wife and you will become, well, my sister-in-law, I think? Eh, I don't know! But we'll all be a family!"

"We will NEVER be a family, weirdo!" shrieked Amy, whipping out her hammer and banging it against the bars ridiculously, making Peach break out of her peaceful sleep.

"Oh my, what is going on?!" Peach heaved, eyes wild with fright.

Amy twirled around on her feet and faced the other female, throwing her hammer on her shoulder and resting it there. There was an expression of irritation coloring her face and her eyes flashed with unhidden contempt. "Bowser's here to have a little word with us again and he's not letting go! The guy even said that he's going to make you his WIFE!"

Placing a gloved hand over her delicate mouth, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom appeared to be highly uncomfortable. After a moment of thick silence, Peach let her hands drop to her lap and she shook her head from side to side, a frown writing itself onto her pretty face. "No. I apologize, but I will NEVER be your wife, Bowser! You can't make me!"

Bowser pointed a dangerous finger at her, almost snarling in anger. "Well, you don't really have a choice in the matter, Peach!" he howled.

"You can't just force her to marry you!" Amy exclaimed, swinging her hammer around in a threatening way. "That's not right at all!"

"I can and I will!"

"Weirdo!"

"Watch your tone, young lady!"

"Okay, dad!" retorted the pink hedgehog nastily, her tone dripping with unconcealed sarcasm.

Bowser sent her an aggravated look before storming off, huffing and puffing and throwing a wild tantrum. As he stomped away, the two girls could hear him complaining about incompetent pink hedgehogs and unwilling princesses.

"Mario will come," Peach told Amy suddenly, watching her pink friend slump to the ground like before. "And so will Sonic. They'll save us, Amy. Please don't worry. Everything will be just fine, okay?"

Amy put on a pout. "What's taking them so long then? It's almost been a week…I think. Maybe more than a week…"

"It takes time, Amy…"

Amy's pout deepened and she dropped her hammer on the ground and crossed her arms over her chest in a firm fold. "It's taking too long for me! What if something happened to my Sonic?"

"I doubt it, Amy…"

"Sonic…" muttered Amy sorrowfully, looking down at the bracelet.

Where was he?

[Back with the others…]

The next day started out deliciously different for the quintet of heroes. First thing in the morning the group just slept and rested their bodies. Then, they got cleaned up and had a nice breakfast with Toadsworth, all the other Toads, and Baby Daisy and Baby Peach. Now, it was in the deep evening and the sky was painted with the colors of the evening. Night was about come and the moon was about to take the sun's place.

Now, they arrived back in Noki Bay for the last time to collect the final Shine Sprite from there. Well, that consisted of going deep to the ocean's bottom again where they cleaned the overgrown eel's teeth. It looked much better down there in the ancient city and there were even Nokis floating about under there! Everyone was surprised because they had no clue that the Nokis could actually breathe underwater! They were living down there!

Ahem, anyway, they found out that there was a giant fish made completely out of Coins and Red Coins. It was actually swimming around the water like a real fish! They were having a hard time collecting all of the Red Coins because the darn thing kept swimming out of reach every time they got too close. It was like it had a mind of its own.

"I really hate Noki Bay…" muttered Sonic as he just floated in the water, helmet on his head. His arms were folded and there was a grumpy expression painting his face. "It is the bane of my existence. So much water!"

Pauline rolled her eyes from near him, helping Mario, Blaze, and Silver try to collect all of the Red Coins from the moving fish. So far, they had only gotten one. "Oh, get over it! We're almost done anyway."

"Right," input Sonic. "And then what?"

"And then, well, I don't know…"

Sonic pursed his lips.

"GAH! Why does this fish keep moving away?!" Silver boomed in frustration, swimming after the coin fish. He managed to snag the second Red Coin, but the others remained with the fish. Suddenly, the hedgehog bumped into a Noki woman and her baby. "Oops…! Sorry!"

A scream ripped through the female Noki's throat and blasted out of her mouth as she whacked Silver in the back of the head with a broom she had retrieved out of nowhere. Eyes widening in shock and pain, Silver covered his head with his arms and howled in fear. "Ow! I said I was sorry, lady! Ow! OW!"

"Get away from us!" the woman screeched like an enraged banshee, still hitting the hedgehog from the future with the broom like a mad woman.

The Noki infant was just floating next to her, watching with big eyes and seemingly interested in what was currently occurring. Clapping his little hands, the baby giggled in delight at Silver's dire situation.

Blaze, who swam by, simply shook her head at her boyfriend's unpleasant predicament. After that, she continued to chase the coin fish. Mario was right behind her, determined to get this over with. Obviously, they'd be getting a Shine Sprite afterwards, which was totally awesome!

"Come on! We only got two so far!" rambled Mario as he used FLUDD to swim faster.

FLUDD bounced on Mario's back. "There are times when the coin fish slows down. You all should take that chance. Use it to your advantage."

"Right, FLUDD!" commented Mario, nodding.

Pauline whizzed on by and finally reached the fish with her wind powers, grabbing two more Red Coins and giggling afterwards, glad that she was able to get two of them in one go! That was cool, right? Right.

So, anyway, the group managed to collect all eight Red Coins and were rewarded with a Shine Sprite. Not much to it though, so that was cool!
