Gambit woke up to Rogue kissing on his neck, making him smile as the sleepy fog still haunted his head. He rolled on to his side and looked into her emerald eyes before he closed his again. His hand wandered down her side, stopping on the side of her large tummy. Feeling her place her hand on his, he opened his eyes and focused on her.
"Today's tha day, lover." She said, placing her hand on the side of his face.
He nodded as he propped himself up on his left elbow and leaned down, kissing her softly. "It be a girl. I know it." He said, making Rogue smile wider.
"Well, we'll see." She said, getting out of bed and walking into the bathroom for a shower.
Watching her naked figure head into the bathroom he smiled before he ran his fingers through his hair and lied back, stretching his arms, back and torso. His abs definitely had a work out last night, but it had been good, as it always had been. Accommodating for her 'baby bump' during sex was an adventure, an adventure he found to be quite erotic. They had finally found the perfect position for both her comfort and pleasure. Any position would've suited him, but he made sure she felt comfortable and beautiful and, above all, he made sure she was enjoying it. By her moaning his name, he figured he had succeeded.
"Why don't ya come join me?" Rogue asked from the bathroom, getting his attention.
Sitting up he smirked as he threw the covers off of his body and walked, casually, into the bathroom. Walking up to her, he planted a passionate kiss on her lips as his hand glided over her hips and to her rear. She broke the kiss and licked her lips as she winked before getting in the shower. He followed and they quickly got their shower over with so they could grab a bite to eat before they had to be at the hospital for the sonogram.
"Wha' time it at? Ten?" He asked, slipping his motorcycle boots on.
"Yep." Rogue said, pulling her curly hair out from under the sweater she had just put on. "Don't wanna be late, either."
"Won' be late, girl." He smiled, pulling a black Henley over his head and pushing the sleeves halfway up his forearm before grabbing his brown duster. "Well, we be late if y' decide t' change yo' mind on y' outfit."
"Nyah." She stuck her tongue out at him. "Ah wanna try to look my best. Is that a crime?"
"Don't need t' try, mon amour." He said, coming up behind her and kissing her neck. "Y' look très belle."
"Ah just hope ya keep flatterin' me like this after we get married and celebrate our fiftieth anniversary further on down tha road." She said, smiling at him.
"Seein' y' happy be my top priority." He said, kissing her ear, causing her neck to buckle over at the sensation and the slight tickle.
"Ya stubble is soft since ya been usin' that face wash Scott suggested." Rogue said, turning around and cupping his face.
"Maybe I grow a beard now, eh?" He said, seeing her shake her head in disgust.
"God no." She said, taking his hand and leading him out of their room. "If ya even think about it, ah'll call ya Wooly."
Gambit chuckled as they headed into the kitchen for a quick bite. Reaching up for a bowl, Rogue felt a hand on her stomach and smiled when she saw Kitty softly rubbing it.
"It's totally a girl." She said with a smile. "I just know it."
"I say de same." Gambit said, pouring a cup of coffee.
"We'll see in about an hour." Rogue said, filling the bowl with water before she microwaved it.
"Gambit needs a little girl to soften him up." Bobby said, with a smirk.
"He's a gentle soul already." Kitty said, defending him, though he didn't need it.
"That's right." Rogue said, walking over and placing her hand on the side of his face, patting it gently. "Wouldn't marry him or even think about having a baby if he wasn't."
"Merde. Y'all be brutal, no?" Gambit joked as he took a sip of his coffee.
Rogue kissed his cheek as the microwave let her know it was done warming her water. "We just love ya, sugah." She said, taking her bowl out of the microwave and pouring the packets of oatmeal into it, stirring it around.
"Well, they love you." Bobby said, getting them to smile.
"Guten Morgen!" Kurt said, walking into the kitchen. "Ve are all avake?"
"We're excited." Kitty said, walking over and taking his arm to bring him over to Gambit and Rogue. "They're finding out what the baby is in, like, an hour."
"Wunderbar." He smiled, looking at the both of them. "Zis is exciting. I pray zat it is healthy."
Rogue smiled. "Ah appreciate that, Kurt." She said, seeing Craig enter the kitchen. "Mornin', Craig."
"Mornin'." He answered back, running his fingers through his long hair.
"Good morning, Craig." Kitty said.
Gambit raised an eyebrow and noticed the light pink that danced upon her cheeks.
"Mornin', Kitty." Craig smiled as he walked over and poured himself a cup of coffee.
Looking at Kurt, Gambit noticed the man trying hard to keep a smile on his face as Craig was obviously winning the battle of wooing Kitty. "Ey, Craig." Gambit said, changing the subject.
"Yeah?" He asked, walking over and standing beside Kitty as he took a sip of coffee.
"Y' been in de Danger Room yet?" He asked. "I know dey suppose to let y' go in sometime dis mont'."
Craig shook his head. "No." He said, looking at Kitty. "Didn' know dat, but dat's cool. I heard t'ings 'bout dis Danger Room."
"Guess Professor Xavier wanted to make sure you were good and ready before he let you go in." Kitty said, crossing her arms just under her bust. "You've been training with Logan, right?"
Craig rolled his eyes and sighed. "Kickin' my ass." He said, looking at the girls in the room. "Sorry."
Kitty giggled. "He means well. He's really a teddy bear." She said, getting a strange look from Craig as well as Gambit and Bobby.
"We talkin' 'bout Wolverine?" Gambit asked.
"Logan's a good man." Rogue said, chiming in. "He saved ya ass, didn't he?"
"Only 'cause y' t'reaten him an' I owe him a beer." Gambit said, making them laugh.
"Don't listen to them." Kitty said, taking his left arm. "By the way, I have something I'd like to talk with you about."
"A'right." Craig said as they walked into the entertainment room from the kitchen.
Kurt sighed, causing Gambit and Rogue to look at him. "I know." Gambit said, giving him a friendly pat on the back. "Can' be givin' up."
"But I cannot compete viss Craig." Kurt said, looking down at his three fingers and strange feet. "He's handsome and looks normal."
"So?" Rogue asked, taking a step closer as she took a bite of her oatmeal. "Look at Remy." His brows dipped. "He's got these devilish demon eyes, but that didn't stop me from falling for him."
Placing a hand on his hip, he raised an eyebrow. "T'ought y' like my eyes, mon amour." He said, seeing her wink at him.
"They grew on me." She said, looking back at Kurt. "Ya gotta fight for her if she's what ya want. Otherwise, get out of tha way."
"I suppose." Kurt said as he slowly walked out of the kitchen.
"Poor guy." Rogue said, glancing at the clock. "We gotta go."
"Be waitin' on you." Gambit said, taking a sip of coffee.
"Ah can eat this on tha way." She said as they headed into the garage and got into the convertible.
Gambit started up the heater before he exited the garage and made his way into town and toward the hospital. When they arrived, they headed up the stairs, after checking in, and made their way to the elevator that took them to the desired floor. Walking into the lobby, they saw Miranda waiting for them to arrive. She smiled as she shook Gambit's hand and then Rogue's.
"It's good to see you again." She said, looking at them both. "Do we want to know what it is?"
"Oui." Gambit said, without hesitation, making them chuckle.
"Well, alright. Let's go." Miranda said as they walked into the room and she got the equipment set up.
After lying back on the bed, Miranda got Rogue all ready before she continued with the sonogram. They watched as the screen came to life and the little heartbeat was heard. Gambit smiled at Rogue before he looked back at the screen.
"Wha' is it?" He asked, taking Rogue's hand.
Miranda smiled as she moved the tool around a little more before turning to them. "It's a girl." She said.
Rogue looked up at Gambit who was smiling from ear to ear. He looked down at her before looking back at the screen. The appointment lasted another fifteen minutes before her other appointment arrived.
"You guys want a print out?" She asked.
"Please." Gambit said, watching her make the print before cutting it off and handing it to him.
"There you go." Miranda said, watching Gambit stare at it. "She's going to be beautiful."
"Merci." He said, before handing the photo to Rogue.
"You're coming along great. She's at a healthy weight and size. Everything is on point." Miranda said with a smile. "Do you have any questions?"
"Is there anything I should be focused on?" Rogue asked, looking at the photo. "Anything that's majorly important?"
Miranda shook her head. "You're doing everything right. Hank's done a great job of giving you all the resources you need." She said, standing and placing her hand in front of her and folding them. "All I suggest is to relax. Enjoy your time together. You may find yourself stressed. If so, feel free to enjoy a little sex. It's perfectly healthy."
"A'ready got dat one down." Gambit said with a smirk.
"Thanks again, Miranda." Rogue said, shaking her hand.
"Any time." Miranda said with a smile.
Still smiling, Rogue was helped off the bed and she fixed her clothes before they headed out and back down the elevator. Getting into the car, they looked at the photo once more before they headed back toward the mansion. Pulling into the garage, they got out and headed inside where they saw Ororo heading down the hall.
Walking up behind her, Gambit grabbed her arm and spun her around to face him. "What?" She asked, but was suddenly caught off guard by a kiss.
Pulling away, Gambit cupped her face. "It be a girl, Auntie Ro." He said, still grinning.
Rogue couldn't help but laugh at his expression of joy toward his best friend. "A girl?" Ororo asked with a smile. "That is wonderful, my friend!"
"Just don't go kissin' every girl ya see, hun." Rogue said, walking up to them. "Ah might take offense ta that."
"Jus' Ro." Gambit said. "She de most important woman in my life, ot'er dan you."
Storm shook her head as Gambit showed her the sonogram photo. "How amazing. She will be a beautiful child." She said, hugging Gambit and then Rogue. "I am so happy for the both of you."
"Thanks." Rogue said, placing her hands on her belly. "Ah can't wait ta meet her."
ONE WEEK LATER
Rogue slipped on her dress and fought with the zipper in the back. She couldn't get it passed the middle of her back, partly because she couldn't really reach it anymore. How odd that something so simple that she use to be able to do, she now couldn't.
"Ah'm gonna need ya help, hun." She called out to Gambit, who was in the bathroom fixing his hair.
Poking his head out, he smiled seeing her back to him and the zipper halfway up. "Des problèmes?" He asked, walking up and zipping her dress up before adding a light kiss on her left shoulder and returning to the bathroom.
"Ya takin' a long time in there." Rogue said, walking up and looking in, seeing him pulling his hair back.
"Have t' look my best, mon amour." He said, combing all his hair back and putting it into a small bun. "Dere. How do I look?"
"Delicious." Rogue said, kissing his cheek as he walked around her and put his black button up shirt on.
She watched as he tucked it into his black dress pants before rolling the sleeves up. Walking over, he slipped a pair of shiny, black dress shoes on that had a titanium band across the toe and surrounding the heel. He smirked at her as he watched her walk up to him with a little sass in her step.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed his jaw. "Maybe after the party, we can have our own little get together." She suggested seeing him wiggle his eyebrows, making her laugh.
"Gonna be a late night. Dat be up t' you." He said, watching her slip her flats on before glancing at the clock. "Chère, we bes' be goin'."
"Alright." Rogue said, making sure her hair looked great. "Ah guess ah'm ready."
Gambit smiled before he kissed her red lips. "Y' look breat'takin', mon amour." He said, seeing her giggle.
"Ya wearin' lip stick." She said, grabbing some tissue from the bathroom and returning to wipe it off. "There."
Walking out of their room, they headed down the stairs and toward the entry hall where all the parents would be arriving. When they reached the hall, they saw the other staff members dressed up and waiting to greet the parents as they arrived.
The decorations looked great. Kitty had outdone herself by recruiting several other people and getting it done quicker than they had anticipated. Speaking of Kitty, Gambit looked over to see she had invited Craig to be her date. The boy cleaned up nicely and he, to, had opt for pulling his hair back. Smiling, he decided to go say hi.
"Well, look who's here." Gambit said, walking up to Kitty and Craig.
Kitty blushed ever so slightly. "Hey." She greeted Gambit before looking at Craig. "He's my date for this evening."
"Jus' fo' dis evenin'?" Gambit asked, seeing Craig was a little uncomfortable.
The doorbell sounded, saving Kitty and Craig the embarrassment of explaining their relationship for the time being. One after another, the parents arrived and were greeted, accordingly, as they were offered drinks and finger foods to keep them busy until dinner.
"Mr. LeBeau?" Gambit felt a hand on his elbow and looked to see one of his students with her mom. "This is my mom, Sheila."
Gambit smiled, letting his charm ring through as he took her hand and kissed the back of it. "Enchanté." He said, seeing the woman's cheeks turn pink. "Yo' daughter be an excellent addition t' de class."
"Thank you." Sheila said. "She enjoys it very much and seems to have learned so much."
"We try t' touch on all dat we can." Gambit said, seeing another student and their parents coming toward him.
"Mr. LeBeau." It was Suzanna and her parents. "I'd like you to meet my parents, Gary and Lisa."
"Pleasure." Gambit said, shaking Gary's hand and shaking it before kissing the back of Lisa's.
"Where did you learn your culinary skills?" Gary asked, taking a sip of his sparkling water.
"Paris, actually." Gambit said, seeing the satisfied nod of her father. "Was over dere several years 'fore I came back t' teach."
The lie seemed to impress her parents as he noticed Lisa look him up and down. He watched as Lisa leaned into her daughter and whispered into her ear. He could read her lips as they mouthed, 'You weren't kidding about him being sexy'.
Gambit smiled as he looked into Lisa's eyes before turning around and grabbing Rogue by the crook of the arm. "I'd like y' t' meet my wife." He said, introducing her. "Anna Marie."
Rogue smiled as she shook their hands. "Nice ta meet ya." She said, also smiling at the fact that he was introducing her as his wife.
"I see you have a little one on the way." Gary said with a smile.
"Oui." Gambit said, placing his hand on Rogue's belly. "She gonna join us in March."
"Coming up quick." Lisa said, smiling at Rogue. "I remember being six months and already pleading to go into labor. Suzanna was a huge baby."
Rogue chuckled. "Well, she's right on for weight and size." She said, placing her hand on her belly after Gambit took his away. "So, ah ain't worried too much."
"Mr. LeBeau." He looked behind him to see one of the younger students with her father. "This is my dad Fredrick."
Gambit shook the man's hand firmly, sensing he was the protective type. "Pleasure t' meet you." He said, seeing the man cross his arms over his chest.
"Now I know why my daughter talks about your class all the time." Fredrick said. "Her teacher looks like a model for Abercrombie and Fitch."
Gambit chuckled at the insult. "Rassurez-vous, I keep my shirt on." He said, seeing her father didn't like that answer. "Yo' daughter be a bright young fille. She excel in de class wit' no problem. More so dan her classmates."
That compliment seemed to lighten the man's defenses. "Thank you." He said, a little more cheerful.
Nodding, Gambit felt a tug on his arm. Turning around, he saw Storm and Logan holding their drinks, accompanied by Hank.
"Somet'in' wrong?" He asked, seeing the shake their heads.
"Dinner's ready. We're just gathering everyone into the dining room." Logan said, thumbing over his right shoulder.
The dinner went well. Small talk was made and all the parents eventually met Gambit, being charmed by him and approving of their child's teacher. Gambit had mentioned that the dinner they were enjoying was cooked by their children, which impressed the parents all the more.
When the dinner had ended, the parents went back to their hotels and it was time for clean up. The students of the parents volunteered to help with the dishes and clean up. After an hour and a half, the entry hall and dining room were back to normal and the kitchen had been cleaned up.
After all the students had gone up to their rooms, the staff did the same. "Ah'm exhausted." Rogue said, walking into the bedroom and kicking her flats off before having a seat on the bed. "My feet are killin' me."
Gambit smiled, slipping his shoes off before he walked over and knelt in front of her. "Here." He said, taking her right foot and starting to massage it.
"That's perfect." Rogue said, leaning back against her hands. "Don't do that much standin' in a day, usually."
"Well, I be here t' take care o' you." Gambit said, moving up to her calf. "Ankles be swollen, no?"
"Ah don't doubt it." She said, looking over her tummy. "Ah should be proppin' 'em up daily, but ah'm too busy ta think about that."
Gambit smiled at her as he kissed her right foot before he took her left. "Y' should." He said, gently massaging her foot before moving to her calf like he did with the right. "Be crucial."
"Ah know." Rogue said, watching him kiss her left foot before setting down and moving closer on his knees to face her. "Like ah said, ah'm too busy."
"Don' wha', exactly?" He asked, placing his hands on her thighs as he looked up at her.
"Helpin' tha new students, for one." She said, watching Gambit place his hands on her tummy.
"Well, dere ain' no school fo' two weeks." He said, rubbing her tummy lightly. "So no excuses."
Rogue playfully glared at him as she took his hands and pulled him up to her for a kiss. "Ah like ya introducin' me as ya wife." She said, seeing him grin.
"Pretty much be dat a'ready." He said, kissing her again as he reached back and unzipped her dress before he pulled his shirt tail out from his pants and unbuttoned it.
Standing, Rogue slipped out of the dress and walked over, hanging it back up in the closet before turning around to see Gambit taking his pants off. She winked at him before she walked into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, then getting into bed. Doing the same, Gambit turned the light out and slid in bed beside her, placing his arm over her waist.
"T'ink she mind dat?" He asked, quietly.
"Ah don't think so." Rogue said, placing her hand on the side of his face.
"Can' wait t' meet her." He said, rubbing the side of her tummy gently.
"Me either, sugah." Rogue said as they stopped their talking and finally fell asleep.
