As the World Turns {Male!Belgium x Reader}
"Aww, poor thing! You look so nervous. Here, don't worry, Big Brother Belgium will take good care of you.~"
Note: Ah man, I've been putting off this chapter for so long! My apologies, dear Bailey! (I freakin' love this little dude.) This was requested by Mrs-Hetalian-Italy. Hope you like it! I know I had fun writing it; Male!Belgium is my favorite Nyotalia boy next to Male!Ukraine! = w =
Warning: This fic is kinda… ummm, crack-ish. Heh heh.
"A new country?"
You nodded, "Yes."
Currently, you were in the World Government building. You'd just been assigned a boss and declared the newest personification. However, you had next to no information about it and someone had just mentioned something about you having 'another half…?'
Before you could ask any questions, one of the bosses turned back to you. "Go meet in the conference room with the other personifications. Let them know you're new and that they need to show you the ropes."
"Oh…" You were confused but decided to shrug it off. Perhaps you'd learn things on the job? "Okay. Which way do I go?"
And so you were sent down the large, nearly endless hallway of the Left Wing. The doors seemed to continue on forever and you felt like you might end up walking into a black hole or something. "Couldn't someone have escorted me there…?" You wondered aloud once you realized you were lost.
The directions given to you had been very… strange.
All they'd said was to look for a door with a certain word written across the top. You couldn't remember the entire word, but you knew it ended with '-talia', so that was probably enough help.
Most of the doors you'd passed didn't have anything written on them until—oh, here we go.
You successfully found a door among the formal hallway that had a familiar phrase on it.
Shrugging, you stopped walking and proceeded to open the door that said '2Ptalia.'
As you grabbed the handle, it wobbled and made a creaking sound. To your surprise, it broke off and fell to the ground directly after. How weird, you thought, just as the rugged door flung open. You should have realized that this door wasn't like the rest.
When you looked up, your eyes immediately widened and you took in a sharp breath of shock.
Inside the room were a bunch of scary-looking, weapon-wielding men with edgy clothing who were now looking right at you shitshitshit—
Without thinking, you squeaked and slammed the door closed.
The people inside that room looked… dangerous! How could you be working with them? This couldn't be right! Breathing heavily, you turned in a full three-sixty while observing your surroundings. You were starting to get anxious and jittery and oh god you just wanted to find your co-workers and then get out of here.
Unluckily for you, the surrounding doors all had words on them that ended with '-talia'.
You weren't sure if you had the courage to open them after seeing what was in 2Ptalia.
Just think… behind one of these doors are your fellow personifications and they won't hurt you—this is the World Government building for Christ's sake! You thought to yourself. You'd gotten well at reassuring yourself over the years.
With a deep breath, you tried your best to calm yourself and slowly opened up the door that said 'Mochitalia'.
Cautiously, you peered inside.
A bunch of high-pitched voices instantly came into earshot.
This time, your jaw dropped.
"…BLOBS?!" You screeched.
They were, quite literally, blobs. They had faces with some distinct feature on each, and… were currently bouncing all over the place. Seriously, what was going on? You were… in a room full of moving, talking chibi things?!
"I am going crazy~" You suggested to yourself with an eye-roll. "Duh, simple as that." You shut the door before the 'mochis' could escape and decided to move on.
Next up, there was a door with 'Capitalia' written across the front. Hm, this one seems… normal, you thought to yourself.
It was then that you remembered about a paragraph you read in your Becoming A Personification pamphlet. Yes… these capital personifications were real and had a purpose. Perhaps someone in there could help you get to where you need to go.
However, as soon as you stepped inside the room, you just… had to go into fangirl mode. Just had to.
"OH MY GOSH, HOW COOL!" You stepped back to admire the people walking around; you really couldn't believe this. They looked so awesome in person!
You could easily tell who was who just by looking at them. Squealing, you subconsciously started pointing them out, "Washington D.C.! London! Beijing! Paris! Moscow! TOKYO!"
They didn't pay you much attention and simply smiled at you when you called out their names. They all looked between the ages of thirteen and eighteen—not adults like the country personifications were.
"Um, hello. Are you lost?" Of course, it wasn't long before someone decided to do something about your presence.
You turned to see two teenagers, one male and the other female. "Er, actually, yeah… I'm supposed to be meeting with the country personifications?"
It was clear that the people you were speaking to were Amsterdam and Brussels.
Even though Amsterdam had been the one to ask the question, it was Brussels who replied. "Oh, I see! Then yeah, you're in the wrong room. The one you're looking for is across the hall."
You politely thanked them and were on your way. Finally, you could stop goofing off and meet with your colleagues already.
As you exited the Capitalia room, you realized you were in yet another dilemma. Ugh… couldn't those capitals have been more specific?
You were now faced with two doors.
One said 'Hetalia'.
…And the other said 'Nyotalia'.
Which one were you supposed to go into?!
You knew this much: One would have the official country personifications, while the other would have their less-intelligent, politically-uneducated genderbends.
Oh well, it's not like choosing one door would forever seal your fate. If you stepped into the incorrect room, you could just get out and try the other, right?
With that thought in mind, you reached for the closest door handle.
And…
Inside its room was… absolute chaos.
The people in the room were definitely countries—well for all you knew. It was dominated by female nations who were chatting at a mile a minute and occasionally letting out girly giggles. Some of them seemed more formal and serious, while others were in skirts, crop-tops, or dresses.
They're… mostly girls? You wondered to yourself. After a moment, you sighed with a self-satisfied smile and added, Well, shouldn't that be expected? It's actually quite flattering. Heh, about time women ran politics.
As if trying to hide from the horde of females, there was a small group of boys off to the side of the room. They were in the corner closest to the entry. You were still standing in the doorway so they were the nearest people to confirm your place. Right as you were about to go up and ask if this was the official country personification meeting room, you happened to hear some of their conversation.
And… it was enough to make you stop in your tracks and subconsciously eavesdrop a bit.
A very cute boy with a Belgian accent was currently teary-eyed and getting a therapy session from the others. He sniffed and continued, "I'm seriously just so… so… plain! Yeah, that's what I am. Look at your places and then look at mine. Waaaah n-nothing stands out-!" He continued to whine in a childish way that was, undeniably, kind of adorable.
A boy dressed in a black-and-gray fur coat shuffled closer to him and murmured, "If you're feeling incompetent, you could always leave to join Big Sister as one of her minions."
This only upset the Belgian even more. "B-But Nikolai…!"
"Now, now, Bailey, you're overthinking things," A pitchfork-wielding blonde with a sunny smile turned to him and suggested, "If someone's looking down on you, just show them your dick!"
A snort erupted from Bailey as his tears seemed to have disappeared. "Uh, Demitri—"
"-I don't think we should be showing anyone our dicks…" A male with a flower in his hair suggested, sweatdropping.
"My dear Daniel, it seems you have never tried it. Trust me, it is a real spell!~"
To put it simply, you couldn't believe what you were overhearing. The mentions of male genitalia caused you to gasp quite sharply—much to your dismay seeing as this caught the boys' attention.
Your face burned red as they turned; What are they going to say to me?! you panicked.
"Oh hi," The one called 'Demitri' with the thick Ukrainian dialect was who greeted you. He waved innocently, "Would you like to see our dicks?"
You nearly choked on your own spit. "E-Excuse me?!"
Bailey and Daniel instantly covered their mouths to keep from busting out laughing. Demitri smiled warmly at you and the boy called 'Nikolai' stood beside him with an apathetic expression pointed towards you.
You were stunned speechless for a few seconds while it seemed both Demitri and Nikolai were serious and would like to know your answer.
As you were processing this, the Ukrainian and Belarusian males both pointed to their zippers questioningly—expressions blank.
"…NO!"
At your violently embarrassed reaction, Bailey and Daniel couldn't hold it in anymore and doubled over laughing. "Hahaha! She totally bought it, guys!"
"…Bought what?" Demitri and Nikolai simultaneously asked, question marks practically dancing over their heads.
As you stood staring at the four of them—wondering to yourself Seriously, what is going on—a girl with short black hair wearing a pink kimono walked past you and whispered, "E-Eto, you might want to stay away from them…" Her voice was soft and nervous, along with a hinted Japanese accent.
She'd whispered it into your ear, and as soon as you looked at her face, the four boys instantly silenced.
Curious at their sudden cease of laughter, you glanced back over to them. Bailey, Demitri, and Nikolai were looking at Daniel with "Oh-God-not-again" expressions on their faces.
Meanwhile, Daniel was basically drooling. "Why are you looking at us? Look at her! She's talking to you, hehe!" He blushed further and pulled out a camera. "G-Go ahead new country, let Sakura Honda tell you everything you need to know…~!"
"Um…" You peered back over to 'Sakura'.
"And while you're at it, why don't you give her a kiss of gratitude?"
At this, you blushed furiously and Sakura gasped. "Y-Yuri fan!" She squeaked, and then took off running.
You took in a deep breath and glared at Daniel. "What was that?"
He was still in a sparkly La La Land and your face warmed to a shade of red. Was he really fantasizing about—
"-You're all embarrassing her!" The Belgian-accented boy came to your rescue. So far, Bailey seemed like the only sane person here. Face burning, you dove right behind him.
"Why is everyone so crazy?!" To be honest, you expected the personifications to be… kinda businesslike?
At that moment, a shirtless guy with a great tan sauntered up from behind you. "I agree!" His accent sounded vaguely African with a mix of French and British…? "They're all a bunch of buttheads aren't they?" You peeked at him just as he flexed his muscles, causing you to blush again. "Hey, new country. Wanna go fishing with me in Seychelles after this? I know a great spot!" He held out a hand to you and smiled.
"Ummmm… she's busy with me." Bailey appeared to have saved you again. It was further confirmed when he sent you a sly wink.
Perhaps these matters of protection were some kind of older brother instinct? He definitely knew how to keep other guys off of a girl. Maybe he had a little sister? He must be Belgium, so that meant Luxembourg was probably a younger sibling to him, and—
The silver-haired boy with the long curl over his head stepped closer to you. "-May I brush your hair?" He emotionlessly asked, and slowly began to stroke your (h/c) tresses. His thin violet eyes were lidded as he breathed out with a slight blush, "You're beautiful."
The unexpected compliment hit you pretty hard. "UM?!"
"Please be mine. I'll love you until it hurts."
Your face flushed once more as you instinctively eyed Bailey in panic.
He laughed cheerfully, "Ahahaha, alright there Nikolai, are you done being a creeper? Anyway, we'll be back later!" Without your consent, the small Belgium boy latched onto your wrist and pulled you out into the hall.
Once the door was closed, you sighed heavily and looked up at Bailey. "Thanks for that. I don't even know what was going on…"
He shrugged as if without a care in the world, "That's normal around here!~ So you're a new country? What's your name?"
"_..."
Concerned at your lack of enthusiasm, he looked you over. Of course, he happened to notice that you were slightly shaking. "…Aww, poor thing! You look so nervous. Here, don't worry, Big Brother Belgium will take good care of you.~" Without thinking, he stepped close and pulled you into an embrace.
Your heart began pounding quite a bit faster. You should push him off, come on—this made him no better than the rest of them.
But… he smelled so sweet, like freshly-made waffles. He was undeniably feminine, especially with his small build and short height, but you had to admit he was majorly adorable. Polite, too.
You pulled back from his hug—blushing heavily—but kept your arms around him. You gazed into his face and noticed that his mouth was formed into a slight 3-shape. The little flips in his orange-blonde hair reminded you of kitty ears and even his green eyes were shaped like a feline's. All in all, everything about him screamed 'cat'.
"Bailey… thank you."
He winked at you again, "No problem! I can be your first ally. And then you can easily become friends with my siblings Netherlands and Luxembourg too!"
You smiled at him. "I'd appreciate that,"
"Heh heh, and before you know it, you'll continue to make more and more allies as the world turns~"
"Yeah…" You scanned the large hallway and felt very lost no matter the presence by your side. You were so very new to being a country.
Bailey must have picked up on how you were feeling. "Want me to show you around the World Government building? Just so you don't get lost." He looked down and bashfully tugged at one of the black suspenders on his khaki uniform.
"If-If it's not a problem…" You began.
He instantly looked back up and grinned that kitty-smile of his, "Of course not! Anything for my newest friend.~"
You couldn't help but blush again. He was just so kind and thoughtful. Was he like this with everyone…?
-D-A-T-I-N-G-T-H-E-W-O-R-L-D-
Afterwards, he took you on a tour around the World Government. He'd shown you all the places you needed to go and where all the conference rooms were. He explained the dynamics of being a country and made you feel so much more comfortable with your new occupation.
You were currently on the roof of the building with him. It was quiet, even peaceful; no one else was around.
There, you talked with him about various subjects and even made a few jokes. He was silly and cheerful but still managed to seem mature. You even found out that you shared a few interests with him and that was great. "Thanks again, Bailey. I'm glad we became friends."
Standing next to you, he nodded. "You bet!" His mouth was full of chocolate. You looked and, as expected, he was holding a candy bar.
"You really love chocolate, don't you?"
He swallowed and tossed you a grin, "It's my specialty~ besides waffles, of course. Oh, want some?" He held the elegantly-wrapped chocolate towards you.
"I'm okay, thanks."
He tilted his head, "Oh come on, it's gourmet Belgian chocolate!" He pressed, a dejected expression crossing his face.
You couldn't say no to those pleading cat-like eyes. "Er, alright, fine…"
He smiled and held the chocolate towards your mouth, "Yay! Open up~"
Your eyes widened. "W-Wait, what?! I… I mean, you don't have to feed me..."
"Why not?" He pouted a bit.
"Mm… you remind me of a kitten, you know that?"
Without skipping a beat, he replied, "I could say the same for you. Anyway, please? Just open? Pretty please with whipped cream on top?~"
Finally, you gave in. Curse him for being so adorable. With a huff, you muttered, "Fine."
You opened, and he clumsily stuck a piece of chocolate in. You bit off the bar, and you had to admit, it was indeed the best chocolate you'd ever tasted. "Whoa! That's amazing, really!"
He seemed pleased by your approval. "Love it?"
"Of course. It's Belgian chocolate, after all."
He threw his arms up, "Yes! I'm so glad you like it, _!"
You sighed with a smile on your face. "Bailey, you're so girly."
He didn't look fazed by your comment. "Am I?" His mind seemed to be somewhere else.
Without another word, he peered closely into your face.
"Um? Is-Is there something on my face…?" Your cheeks warmed up slightly. He was slowly moving in closer and you had no idea why.
"Hmmm…" He dipped his head and tilted his face, inching a bit more towards yours. Within seconds, you could already feel his breath on your lips.
Your heart throbbed erratically. He was getting closer and your cheeks burned at his close proximity. Is he going to… to…?
"…You have chocolate on your mouth." Without hesitating, he leaned in and licked the very corner of your lips.
"B-BAILEY?!" You squealed out in both embarrassment and surprise. "Ah, w-why did you do that?!"
A look of puzzlement crossed his face. "I just told you there was chocolate on your mouth."
Your heart was absolutely racing and your knees had gone weak. The sensation of his warm, wet tongue on your lips still lingered and made your stomach do flips and twists. "D-Don't do that again…" You stared at the ground; it was impossible to meet his eyes.
He chuckled, "Oh? You're so cute _!"
"Not when you embarrass me like that."
"Mm," He stopped chuckling and gently reached for your chin with his thumb and forefinger. Tilting your face up to meet his, a pair of flirtatious green eyes met your own. He smirked a bit, "…Still think I'm girly?"
You inhaled sharply. No. Way. Did he just…?
You soon realized that he may have done that on purpose. No… he definitely did that on purpose.
Did he really just try to seduce me…? you thought shakily, T-To show me he's not girly?!
He giggled quietly. "You're such an open book, _. I can't wait to get to know you more."
By now, you were flustered beyond repair and knew with slight dismay that you'd developed a small crush on a certain Belgian. "Sh-Shut up Bailey."
He grinned that signature cat-smile and hugged you close to him. "And I look forward to being your ally.~"
A.N.: Ah, sorry, I just felt like writing fluff and needed to get this out of my system. ; w ;
But whoa, isn't Male!Belgium adorable? I love this kid omg /)^.^(\ ~ Btw, Reader was probably a Nyo counterpart herself, which would explain her lack of knowledge about becoming a country and why she wound up with Nyotalia. = v =
Review, babe?
