Melody
"Derek." Andy mumbled.
"What did you say?" I narrowed my eyes, still holding the shells.
"We need to get these to Scott." He said quickly. "Melody, they have to do with Derek, I just know it." He already had his phone out. "Let's go," he said a few moments later. He brushed passed me and walked out the door. I had no choice but to follow him.
"Where are we going?" I asked when we got outside.
"Scott said he would meet us at the animal clinic." He answered. I nodded and followed him silently. When we arrived, Scott was already inside. Lydia and Stiles were with him.
"Explain." Scott said when we got into the back room.
"Derek hasn't been around in weeks." I started.
"He wouldn't answer any of my texts." Scott added.
"Did Derek ever answer your texts?" Stiles scoffed.
"Once." Scott told him. "Definitely once."
"But he would have answered me." Andy scoffed. "But he didn't. He didn't answer my texts or my calls."
"I noticed something underneath the couch so I went to investigate. I found these," I put the shot gun shells down on the table so they could see. Scott picked one up to examine it closer and took a picture of the marking with his phone.
"What are you doing?" I frowned.
"Sending a picture to Deaton." He replied. "If anyone knows what it means, it's him." His phone buzzed immediately. "He says it's the marking of a Mexican group of hunters that call themselves the Calaveras." He told us.
"Hunters?" Andy said nervously.
"You think they got Derek?" Stiles asked.
"Why else would these be in his loft?" Scott shrugged. I heard someone breathing heavily. Andy. His heart beat had increased rapidly and so had his breathing. It sounded like he was going to hyperventilate.
"Oh god." He breathed. His breathing got faster and faster. He could barely stay in his feet. "What if he's dead? What if he was waiting for us to rescue him? What if we took too long and now it's too late? What if they killed him? What if," He stumbled backwards, his hands shaking. He was having trouble breathing.
"What's wrong with him?" I gasped.
"I think he's having a panic attack." Stiles answered.
"How do we stop it?" I asked him. I'd seen Stiles go through a panic attack before. If anyone knew how, it would be him.
"We need to get his mind off of it. Anything to get him think of something else." Stiles told me.
"Like what?" I hissed. Andy was holding his head, leaning against the wall. The speed of his breathing continued to increase.
"Pain." Scott said quickly. "We can try pain." I nodded.
"Andy, I'm sorry. It has to be done." I apologized. I grabbed one of his wrists and snapped it. My brother screamed in agony, clutching his wrist. His breathing slowed until it was back to normal.
"Thank you." He breathed.
"Lydia," Stiles asked. "Is there anything you can do?"
"I'll try." Lydia nodded. She picked up the shells and closed her eyes, concentrating. She took a deep breath and dropped them on the table. She kept her eyes closed. She didn't say a word when she opens them again.
"Well?" Andy asked impatiently. "Is Derek dead?" He asked dreadfully.
"No." Lydia shook her head. "But I'm not so sure he's alive either."
"If he's not dead, then we have to go help him." Andy says quickly. "I'm going, with or without you guys."
"We will go to Mexico." Scott told him. "We have to get Derek back."
Andy
"You think this plan will work?" Melody asked over the sound of the music blasting.
"It has to." I replied. Malia, Kira and Scott were also here. We had spread out. They were somewhere in the crowd. Stiles and Lydia were doing the negotiating. I waited anxiously. I just wanted to get Derek out of here. I noticed Malia and Kira moving closer together. They were dancing together, trying to blend in. Kira nodded towards something. Someone was making their way through the crowd towards them.
"Here comes company." Kira said. She intended for Melody and I to hear her.
"Let's roll." Melody grinned. I noticed two men dressed in black making their way towards us. We stood up, waiting for our new friends to come closer. One of them had nun chucks and the other had a staff. Whatever. We don't need weapons. We have claws. The man with the staff came at me. He swung his staff but I moved out of the way in time. I grabbed his arm and launched him into one of the tall pillars. He groaned in agony as he landed on the ground. He didn't make a move to get up. Melody sent her opponent flying towards to back wall. He too didn't get up. Scott signalled towards the exit and we followed him, Malia and Kira right behind us. We wandered down an empty hallway. I heard a hissing sound and smoke started to come from around the corner.
"Hold on," Scott said slowly, taking a step ahead of us. Before we could react, smoke started to come from the ceiling. I felt it burn my lungs as I inhaled. "Wolvesbane." He coughed.
"Kira, run!" I wheezed, collapsing to my knees. Malia and Melody were passed out. I could feel sleep trying to take over. I watched the faint outline of Kira trying to get away but she was knocked over the head with a gun. She fell to the ground, unconscious.
"An alpha of only a few months should be more careful when facing a hunter if forty years." A woman scoffed.
"We just want Derek." I coughed. I heard Scott mumble something that I didn't catch before darkness took over.
Melody
Scott, Kira, and Malia were spread out around the room. Stiles was sitting by Malia. I frowned. There were originally seven of us on this trip, and now there were only five. Lydia and Andy were missing. I heard someone groan. Kira was waking up.
"Where are they?" I asked, my voice echoing through the room.
"I don't know." Stiles sighed. "But they don't have Derek. I don't think they know where he is. If they wanted to kill us, I think they would have already. They want something from us."
"Andy and Lydia." I nodded. "But what would they need Andy and Lydia for?" I frowned. Stiles was about to answer when Malia started to wake up. He turned his attention to her. Kira was looming over Scott, waiting for him to wake up.
"They don't have him." Scott mumbled, opening his eyes slowly.
"We know." Stiles told him. We helped him to his feet. His eyes locked on the door. There were deep claw marks all over the walls. He walked over and tried to open the door. It wouldn't budge.
"Scott," Kira said quietly. "They have Andy and Lydia."
"What?" He frowned. "What do they want with Andy and Lydia?" I walked over to the door, trying to pry it open. I didn't have any luck either. I sighed, leaning against the wall. I slid so I was sitting down, my back pressed against the cold cement wall. I rested my head on my knees.
"I don't know but I say the next time that door opens, we take them out and make a run for it." Malia told us.
"What about Lydia and Andy?" I scoffed, getting to my feet. I found myself taking a few steps towards her.
"What about them?" Malia frowned.
"We are not leaving them." I hissed, clenching my fists in anger.
"Why not?" She retorted. "They can't take care of themselves?"
"Because." Stiles said quickly, blocking her from me in case I did anything. "They are our friends. We don't abandon our friends, okay? We talked about this."
"Is that what you would do if you were a coyote?" Kira asked. "Leave them for dead?"
"If they were weak and injured, yes." Malia nodded. "Or if hunting season was bad, I would eat them. And then I would leave."
"Well like I said, they are our friends. The animal kingdom doesn't apply to friendship, okay?" Before she could reply, someone opened the door. They jabbed Scott with a cattle prod and the alpha was groaning in pain. Before the rest of us could do anything, we had guns pointed at us.
"Don't try anything." A man with a heavy accent hissed. He seemed to be the one in charge. A man with dark hair and a moustache came and threw Scott over his shoulders and hauled him away. The man in charge nodded towards Kira. "You're coming with us too." A woman grabbed Kira roughly and forced her out the door. I didn't let any of them out of my sight, waiting for my chance to take them. They slowly started to back out of the cement room. The man with the heavy accent flashed me a toothless smile before he disappeared, closing the door tightly. I tried to pry it open once more, but it still wouldn't budge. I sat down and sighed. And then there were three. I thought sadly.
Andy
Slowly, I opened my eyes. My vision was blurry. I could see the faint outline of people. Someone was gripping my arm tightly, holding me up. Something was pressing into the back of my head. When I could see clearly, I looked at my captor. He had light brown hair. He leaned closer to me when he saw I was awake.
"If you try anything, I will not hesitate to fire this bullet through your brain." He hissed. I heard someone whimper. I looked up to see Kira. She too was being held at gunpoint. Strapped down to chairs, were Scott and Lydia. I saw wires connecting from the chair to a podium with switches. I shuddered, realizing what it was. A woman came forward wearing a menacing grimace. It was the same woman from before.
"What do you want?" Scott hissed.
"I want you to answer a few questions for me." She replied. "This is how it is going to work. I'm going to ask you a question and your going to answer me truthfully. Answer it right and no one gets hurt. Answer it wrong, and your friend here who's immune to electricity will turn the dial on you. If she refuses, than your other friend will turn he dial on the banshee." She smirked.
"And if I refuse?" I snarled.
"Than I fire one of these into your skull." My captor grinned, pressing his gun harder into the back of my head to prove a point.
"One of your friends has the supernatural ability to heal, and the other doesn't. Make a wise choice." The woman grinned. Scott looked at each of us and nodded.
"Alright, first question. Where is Derek Hale?" She asked.
"We don't know." Scott retorted. "We came here looking for him."
"Wrong." She shook her head. "Kira, turn the dial to one." Kira looked at Scott wearily.
"Do it." Scott nodded. Kira took a deep breath, and turned the dial. Scott's breathing increased as he tried to withstand the pain.
"I'm going to ask you again. Where is Derek Hale?" She growled.
"I don't know." Scott repeated. She looked to Kira and Kira turned the dial up higher.
"Think. Who would have a vendetta with the Hale family?"
"I don't know." Scott shook his head.
"Who could have taken him?" She snarled. "Someone who could have turned without you knowing, not by a bite." She was practically screaming at him. She shoved Kira to the side and turned the dial all the way. Scott howled in pain. He grabbed hold of the chains that bound him and pulled tightly. The chains snapped and Scott stood, gasping. He was breathing slowly.
"Say the name." She spat. Scott lifted his head, and spoke.
Melody
"You can do it." Stiles encouraged.
"I'm not good at it." She pouted. "Why don't you do it?" She scoffed at me.
"Because you need practice." I retorted.
"I believe you can do it." Stiles told her. She nodded, and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes, and listened in. She opened them after a while.
"I can't focus." She sighed. "There are too many noises."
"Just try." Stiles insisted. "Focus on anything. Focus on me. The sound of my voice, the," she cut him off by pulling him closer to her and kissing him. When the broke apart, Malia's eyes had changed from brown to blue.
"That works too." Stiles smiled. I rolled my eyes in disgust. I turned away from them, and took a deep breath, closing my eyes.
"And if I refuse?" A boy snarled. My heart beat skipped. Andy. I let out a sigh of relief. He was still alive. I heard a woman's voice barking orders, she as shouting at Scott. She asked him for a name. I listened intently, waiting. Scott's breathing had slowed down. And then he spoke.
"Kate."
"Scott said that?" Stiles frowned. "That's impossible."
"Yeah, that's what he said." Malia nodded.
"Who's Kate?" I frowned, walking back over to them. I sat down next to Stiles.
"She was a hunter." He mumbled. "An Argent."
Andy
We stood outside by Stiles' jeep, waiting for Scott. He appeared with the woman. They were already in a conversation.
"When you take the bite of an innocent, when you make a wolf of your own, then I will cross the border and come knocking on your door." She said seriously. Scott nodded and came over to join us.
"Let's go." He grinned. "She said she knows where to find Kate."
"Is she going to give us directions?" Stiles raised an eyebrow.
"She said she was giving us a guide." Scott said, frowning.
"A guide?" I scoffed. Just as I finished speaking, I heard the loud rumble of a motor. I looked behind me to see that a motorbike was making its way to us. The rider wore all black and stood once the bike got close. The rider removed it's helmet, revealing its face.
"I know you." Stiles muttered.
"Braeden." Scott said. "You were the one who saved Isaac." He added.
"I was hired to save Isaac." She nodded.
"Were you hired to be our guide?" I asked.
"What do you think?" She raised an eyebrow. When no one said anything she continued. "Let's go. La Iglesia isn't a place you want to be when it's dark out."
"The church?" Melody retorted.
"It isn't a place where you'll find god." She said seriously.
Melody
"Alright, so I'm going to ask." Malia started. "Who the hell is Kate?"
"I'd kinda like to know too." Kira said quietly.
"Melody and me don't know who she is either." Andy added. We were all piled into Stiles' jeep, Malia, Kira, Lydia and Andy in the back seat and Scott, Stiles and me in the front. Lydia, Scott and Stiles remained silent.
"You don't to have to talk about it if you don't to." I said quietly.
"Yes." Malia hissed. "You do."
"Kate was an Argent, a hunter." Lydia started. "But she wasn't just that. She was Allison's aunt."
"Kate was the one who set the fire that killed Derek's family." Stiles added. Andy growled quietly.
"We thought she was dead," Scott told us. "Peter clawed out her throat back when he was an alpha. If a hunter is turned, they have to take their own life before the next full moon. He paused for a moment before continuing. "The Calaveras find it their duty to enforce this law. When they heard that Kate was killed by an alpha's claws, they had to investigate. They found that Kate was alive and transitioning. They took her body before anyone could notice. They brought her here and locked her in that room that we were in. She faked killing herself and broke free."
"So," I started but she was interrupted by the jeep jerking off to the side of the road.
"What the hell was that?" Andy scoffed.
"I think we hit something." Stiles groaned. We all piled out if the car. Braeden stopped her motorbike and walked over to us.
"What's the problem?" She scoffed.
"We hit something." Scott told her.
"Well we have to keep going if were going to make it there by nightfall."
"Scott, you go." I told him.
"Yeah." Stiles agreed. "We'll figure out what's wrong with my jeep and be right behind you."
"Alright." Scott nodded. He followed Braeden and sat down behind her. We watched as the disappeared in a cloud of dust. Malia was looking around the tire and pulled something out.
"We didn't hit anything." She scoffed. "Something hit us." She held up a knife made from a bone. Stiles popped open the hood.
"Lydia, hold this." He handed her a flashlight. Stiles started twisting and pulling on things. "Could you hold the flashlight still?" He scoffed.
"I'm shaking." Lydia rolled her eyes.
"Try shaking slightly less." Stiles retorted.
"Couldn't we just leave this here?" Lydia asked.
"No way." Stiles shook his head. "I'm never abandoning this jeep." Malia frowned suddenly.
"What?" I asked.
"Something's out there." She said before she started running. Kira took off running after her.
"Hey, Malia!" Stiles shouted. He got ready to run after her.
"No, you. Fix the jeep." Lydia hissed.
"But," Stiles protested.
"Fix the jeep." She interrupted. Stiles sighed and continued to pull and tinker with things.
"Melody you stay here with them, I'm going to go after them." Andy told me before sprinting away.
"Here hold this," Stiles told me, putting something in my hand.
"What is this?" I frowned.
"I don't know." Stiles shrugged. "I'm hoping it isn't important." He climbed down and turned the keys. The jeep started up right away. As soon as he turned it on, Andy, Kira and Malia came walking back over to us.
"It's gone." Malia told us.
Andy
We all piled back into the jeep. Melody, Kira, Lydia and I were sitting in the back while Malia and Stiles sat up front.
"You, don't do that." Stiles hissed at Malia.
"Do what?" Malia scoffed
"I was worried." He told her. "I thought you were running."
"I was running." Malia frowned.
"No like, I thought you were leaving." Stiles sighed.
"No, I'd never leave you." Malia shook her head. "Them I would leave," she said, nodding towards the rest of us.
"Hey, it progress." Stiles shrugged at us. Stiles turned his head back towards the road. "We're here." Stiles told us. I was tapping my foot in anticipation. This was it. This was where we would find out whether or not Derek was alive. We all climbed out of the jeep. Scott was dragging someone out the front door with him. Derek. I thought in relief. Something was different. Something about Derek. Scott helped him towards the jeep. When I could see Derek's face clearly, I gasped.
"Is that Derek?" Malia asked.
"Sort of." Stiles muttered. It was certainly Derek, but he was younger. He was my age.
