Chapter 52

"So what now?" Amy asked Ian, not able to take the smile off of her face.

He smiled. His heart was filling with warmth. She was the most beautiful creature on earth. And she was his again.

"Now," He glanced at the clock above her head, smiling too. "Now I'll go cook super. You can occupy yourself with television or... anything you need to do." he smirked, looking into her green eyes.

She thought about it for a second, blushing and not meeting his eyes. Her finger made a trace down across his chest.

His lips tightened into a thick line, as lust began to appear in his stomach. Now that they were together... it seemed as he was having the same difficulties as he had when he had been with her before.

"Can I be with you while you're cooking?" She made up her mind, and her smiling eyes met his own.

He rolled his eyes. "Not that it's going to help you study. Really, Love, you should do something else than trying to help."

Her cheeks burned, as she followed him inside the kitchen. "I didn't say anything about helping you out, Ian."

He smirked, again, starting to gather up the ingredients on the counter. "If you say so."

"You know what?" She said, cheeks flaming. She turned around. "If you don't want me here I'll just go and watch-"

She stopped as she felt his arm crossing around her waist and pulling her back to the kitchen. She could almost feel him rolling his eyes. "I didn't mean that. Of course you can make me company."

She smiled, gladly and satisfied, and stood close to his back, one more inch and she would have touched him. She stood at her tiptoes, trying to see what the ingredients are.

"What are you making?"

He gives her a one look from his yellow-amber eyes. "It's a surprised."

She sees him taking out a frozen meat.

She looks down, a bit embarrassed. "Hmm...You remember that I'm a vegetarian, right? I mean it hasn't been that long since we have eaten together, right?"

He chuckles and looks at her, his eyes soften. He liked that he made her blush so easily. She was so beautiful.

"First," He said, entertained. "It has. Second, of course I remember. That's for me."

She looked relieved. She looked at him, smiling with relief. "Great."

He turned back to the counter, his experienced hands moving quickly to make their food.

"Have you been cooking since you left?"

"No.." He nodded, eyes fixed on what he's doing. "But you're here now."

She was surprised. "Oh, so you don't have to cook for me, we can grab something from the refrigerator."

He looked at her with eyebrows up. "I want to."

She looked at him and blushed, and he immediately smirked. "You're cute when you're embarrassed."

She frowned, still blushing. "I got it already, Kabra."

He chuckles.

They sit down to eat, and afterwards, comes the conversion.

Amy looked at him amazed from the sofa she was sitting on, as he talked on and on about the rules, if they were to be together.

"You're not going alone anywhere, not even at school, no one can know we're together, and-"

"Ian," She stood up and stopped him, taking his hands in hers and looking into his eyes. "It's going to be ok. You'll see."

He was not affected. "it won't until we make it ok."

She rose her eyebrows. "What do you mean by that?"

He let go of her hands and moved to the wooden table, stretching his arms in both sides of it. "Amy, I'm scared to death. Don't mention it to anybody, but I am." He left the table and turned to face her. "I'm going to take care of Isabel."

She stared at him, green eyes widened in shock. "What?"

He gazed at her, goldish eyes determined with emotion. "I going to make this stop."

She crossed her arms, swallowing. "And how exactly are you going to do that?"

He took a breath. "I don't know yet, I don't know when. But I have some things in mind. Maybe I'll need Hamilton and Sinead, it's not going to be a crowded mission."

She looked at him, and turned from him. "No."

He blinked. "What?"

He saw her blinking fast, to stop the tears that appeared in her eyes. "I've almost lost you the last time. No chance you're going again."

She looked at him, determined.

He sighed and looked away from her. "So that's how you prefer to live? For the rest of your life?"

"We'll take care of Isabel, but it doesn't have to be you alone. Uncle Fiske will find a way, the Madrigals-"

"Are doing nothing." He completed, staring at her. "And I wouldn't rest yours and mine faith in their hands."

She looked at him, taken aback. "How can you say that? They're doing the best they can!"

"They're trying too hard to keep everyone safe." Ian said, not taking his eyes off of her.

"So?"

"So," He said. "It's impossible to make progress this way. There are losses at war, Amy. That's the only way to stop the damn war."

She looked away, her arms still crossed.

He sighed, and gently took her in his arms, arms wrapped around her waist, her face facing his chest. "I know we have issues, but I just got you back. I don't want to waste this time on arguing with you when you're finally here, ok?"

She sighed, but pulled away, her green eyes looked intently into his eyes. He reached his hand and gently caressed her cheek, as she was looking at him.

She looked at him like that for a moment, and then came back to his arms, wrapping her own arms around him and resting her head on his chest. His arms were wrapped around here harder, tightly keeping her close to him, and he nuzzled her hair.

"One day we'll stop arguing." She murmured, but he chuckled.

"Yea, that's never going to happen."

She pulled away a bit so she could see his eyes, frowning. "So is that what you want?"

He grinned at her, his handsome face featuring a smirk. "See?"

She rolled her eyes but buried herself into him again. "You're such a jerk."

He smiled, caressing her hair. "And you are so lovely."

She sighed and stood on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Can we stay like this forever?"

"No. We need to go to sleep."

She frowned and let go, as he grinned. "You take the bed I take the sofa?"

She smacked him on the arm, and tugged him after her to the bedroom.
