Hey guys it's me Owl Lady. This is it we're in the final stretch and the next chapter will be the last. I have to say once again this has been a great experience for me as a writer. I loved writing it and hearing from all of the people who love it. So with out further adieu I present this humble chapter. ENJOY
"Tell me again why you volunteered us to watch ALL of them" Sherlock bugged Molly.
"Because we are their grandparents and their parents needed to go out of town for a case" Molly said as she cleared off another junk heavy table.
"All six of them" Sherlock said accusingly. Molly rolled her eyes where he couldn't see, but he was Sherlock Holmes he knew. Suddenly a ring came at the door and Molly hurried as fast as she could down the stairs to answer it. Sherlock followed after her and a slower pace and he arrived just as the first few grandchildren where piling into the mansion that Sherlock had inherited from his mother.
"Thank for letting us stay here Gran, we really appreciate it" said Agatha, the oldest and also the representative of the group.
"Your very welcome Agatha" Molly said as she ushered in the rest of the teenagers. Byron couldn't stop giggled with Felicity. Clemency was to busy fixing her makeup and making sure she didn't scuff her new shoes. Amity and Francis where having a heated discussion about fingerprint-less humans. Thaddeus was dead to the world as he was texting someone furiously.
"I remember a time when you all would rush up and hug me" Molly said like a true grandmother. All the kids looked up and gave her apologetic looks.
"Sorry gran" they all murmured.
"Well come on you lot, I've got cookies in the oven waiting for you" she said as she started to ascend the stairs. She had to have Sherlock help her partially. At the sound of the word cookies the teen's interest was heightened. After Molly had made it to the top of the stairs the gang of teens rush up the flight and into the kitchen. There, just like Molly had promise, was a fresh tray of chocolate chip cookies. They each grabbed a couple and went to go find a seat. Sherlock and Molly had already taken their seats in their favorite chairs, which only left the couch. It's simple math, seven grandchildren can't all fit onto one couch. Agatha quickly rushed over and took her spot, being the oldest had its privileges. Francis nearly had it fight Amity before he sat down. He felt he was entitled, he is the youngest after all. Byron just calmly took the last seat while everyone was mucking about. Silly cousins. The three remaining girls unceremoniously sat themselves down in the floor and Thaddeus was content to be in a corner giggling at his phone. Sherlock looked in his direction, he'd get to the bottom of that later.
"Hey turn it to CBS there is a Big Bang re-run coming on" said Amity who was going thought a faze where she adores American comedy sitcoms.
"Why would you want to watch a re-run" Byron asked her.
"Because this is the episode when Howard's son looks at Sheldon's daughter for longer than 2 seconds. They are soooo in love it's not even funny" she said. Byron rolled his eyes.
"Please if Thomas is going to be with anyone he's going to end up with Tajshak, then the world will finally have the Wolowitz/Koothrapali relationship it's deserves" Byron said. Amity looked back at her cousin with wide eyed disgust.
"Stop your lies" she said. Byron just leaned in closer and whispered.
"They are so good for each other that even when you put their names together it still spells Tajshak and Thomas" he whispered. Sherlock decided to leave before he got caught in another "ship war" again. He made his way over to Thaddeus who was still beaming at his screen.
"Your texting someone" he said to Thaddeus. Thaddeus looked up and flashed his granddad a 'no shit Sherlock' face.
"Your powers of deduction never cease to amaze me granddad" he sarcastically replied.
"Who are you texting" Sherlock asked.
"No one" Thadd replied.
"Well that isn't quite true now is it" Sherlock said.
"You see in order for you to be texting there must be another person to receive your texts. Since everyone is a person you are not texting nobody. I would say that judging by your smiles when you receive a text and the fact that you quickly reply and anticipate the response says that this person means a lot to you. It isn't a family member because they are either working on a case, here in this flat, or to busy running the government to answer their phone. That leads me to believe that your texting a romantic partner, since a friend is very unlikely in this circumstance. Judging by the lights on you face that project from your phone I can say that your phone background is a picture of your girlfriend. I can also say that she has short brown hair covered by a grey beanie, a flannel shirt, a black cross necklace and thick black glasses. I believe these types of people are called Hipsters. You most likely met her at school, but there is the odd chance that you met on a case. I'm going to go with the case. You've been dating her for a few months six at the least and you've told your sibling and cousins about her which is why your texting her here. You haven't told your father or mother about her which lead me to believe that maybe you'd don't think they'll approve of her. So your texting her now, because you never know when you'll get another chance" Sherlock rambled on about Thaddeus' life. Thaddeus sighed and bumped his head back against the wall.
"It's just so hard" he groaned.
"I'm sure your father will be open to whatever baggage your girlfriend has" Sherlock said. Thaddeus lifted his head and looked his granddad straight in the eyes.
"Yeah I'm sure dad would be very appreciative that I've had a boyfriend for the past six months" Thaddeus said. Sherlock sighed.
"Damn it, it's always something" he said. He never seemed to get genders right.
"You where right about everything else though, Sawyer and I have been dating for about 7 months. He's...just the best. He's my screensaver because I don't get to see him a lot so I just look at his picture whenever I can. I always have to hide my phone from dad and Francis got ahold of it one day and he read all of my messages, then he told Amity and Amity told Agatha who told Byron who told Felicity who told Clemency and now they all know" he rambled.
"...are your serious about him" asked Sherlock.
"I think we're gonna get married one day, have some kids, be domestic. Do boring things all day and solve brilliant cases by night. Does that answer your question" Thaddeus replied. Sherlock gave him a little half smiled and patted him on the shoulder.
"My sage advice would be to come out to your parents and if you have any problems with your father...send him to me" He said. He gave his grandson a wink and he left him alone to text Sawyer.
Sherlock creeped over behind Molly's chair and leaned down to give her a peck on the cheek. When he did so he both scared Molly a little and grossed out his grandchildren.
"Get a room" Francis moaned while covering his eyes.
"This is my house I will kiss who ever I want whenever I want and you can't say anything about it" Sherlock snarked back. Molly patted him on the cheek and went back to watching her grandchildren.
"You should be more respectful Francis, because one day you'll have a wife and you wouldn't want your grandkids to say that to you know would you" Agatha said. Francis turned to face Agatha.
"Shut up" he said in the most sincere way possible. Agatha made a mental note to flip him off later when her grandparents weren't watching her.
"Hey granddad is it ok if Sawyer comes over" Thaddeus asked from his corner.
"If it's the only time you'll get to see him this week I suppose so" Sherlock replied which sent Thaddeus into a texting frenzy.
"Who's Sawyer" Molly asked.
"Thaddeus' boyfriend" Sherlock said. Molly flashed a big smile and bounced a little in her chair.
"Oh good it's been a long time since I've gotten to see someone's boyfriend come over" she said.
"DO not embarrass me Gran, he works two full time jobs and this is the first day off he's had in weeks don't mess this up for us" Thadd practically begged.
"Oh sweetie I won't do anything to embarrass you, I just need to make sure he will make a good Holmes" Molly replied. Thaddeus was shaking his head.
"You should be thankful Thadd, when I got judged to be a Holmes I had to endure the scorns of 5 posh families who knew I cut up dead bodies for a living" she recounted.
"I'm sure that was bad" Thaddeus said unsympathetically.
If I hadn't have saved that one old man who liked me from that heart attack he had when he heard the news then they might have never accepted me" she said.
"Well I promise you Gran, Sawyer is just a normal bloke" Thaddeus said.
"Oh dear you should know by now that no Holmes is ever normal" she retorted.
Well did you like it, I hope. I am really trying to scour my brain for the best of my writing abilities.
