I suggest you read the author's note at the bottom. It has some information pertaining to bonus updates.

Head-On-Head!

James and Coureal both plummeted towards the ground at an incredibly high pace. James twisted around, flipping around and quickly boosting himself free from plummeting path. He shot back up and let Coureal continue his trajectory downwards. Coureal smashed into the floor as James shot into the air, escaping from the grasp at the last possible movements.

James flipped downwards, landing safely as he looked on at Coureal. Something was wrong. The impact was all wrong. The dust cloud wasn't big enough, Coureal must have more tricks up his sleeve then James had planned on him having. Some kind of secret technique to slow his fall.

"Nice try, friend," Coureal stated as he stood up, despite managing to reduce the moment of impact. Coureal flipped around, rotating his body back onto his own feet. "You did a nice job getting me off of you," he muttered as he rubbed the back of his neck, "but the fact that you failed to knock me out with that last blow will be your downfall."

James took a tentative step backwards. In terms of power Coureal was definitely ahead of James, the question was was that just because James was weak or was Coureal really strong. The real problem would be whether or not James could keep up with Coureal's speed. James' brain had already became accumulated to creating plans for making the difference in power negligible, but a difference in speed? If he was on Skypiea he would be able to use Eisen Dial and Milky Dials to slow him down, but he had no tools on the Blue Seas which would work to slow him down.

Coureal took his distance quickly. He remained firmly out of James' reach even if James would try a sudden lunge it wouldn't close the distance quick enough. Coureal would be fast enough to dodge and duck right out of his range as soon as possible. Coureal slowly began to use footwork to move around the field. He moved back and forth using slight movement, jumping up and down on his own legs quickly.

The attack started with a bang. Coureal accelerated forward quickly firing off his own jab just life before one finger extended and aimed directly at James' chest. James whipped his Shock Dial and held it out in front of him attempting to fire back. Coureal dove down, sliding beneath James' Shock Dial and immediately rushing directly under James' arm.

It was a very small opening, but Coureal didn't even flinch as he took advantage of it. Bolting in smoothly without a single worry. His only problem would be he would have to adjust where his finger went in, but as Coureal jabbed his finger forward and into James' gut it became obvious even that wasn't a problem for the proud Marine.

James stumbled back his right hand absentmindedly touching and feeling the new whole in his stomach as if giving it an examination, however, even that didn't last all too long as Coureal brought his claw screeching in from the outside path and curving inwards aiming it directly at James' head. James reacted quicker to this one, ducking beneath and twisting around firing a right handed punch straight for Coureal's jaw. Despite the dead-on hit Coureal wasn't even phazed.

His claws came in like a swimmer's movement. They swooped in down from above, raking their way backwards aiming to rip into James' shoulders. The first one hit its mark excellent, but after that James began actively avoiding the wide swings. Stepping back and dodging the first couple time and time again as Coureal stepped forward and swung.

Coureal's speed was second to none and after getting hit by Coureal's diving claws, James could attest his strength was well above average, but his technique was clumsy. Despite each attack being piercing in nature and quick and smooth enough to force James onto his toes, but they also had tells. Coureal's muscles flexed, noticeably readying themselves for the moment of bloody impact.

He was trying to push the envelope. He was forcing more and more damage with each and every attack. That Shigan technique of his was something that was to be feared and quite possibly on a more experienced user of it, it would be fearsome, but once more Coureal's tells were just too obvious for James to ignore. James leaned backwards, watching the claws rake the air eagerly as it tried to dig themselves back into his heart. James pivoted to the side and escaped.

While such a fight seemed to be going well for James there was still the fact that he had two injuries while Coureal was clean and as fresh as a daisy, but James was planning on fixing that! "Breath-Gas!" James threw his Breath Dial through the air and at his opponent, leaving behind it a streak of clear gas with a cringe-worthy scent.

"You think you can beat me with just some smelly air," mocked Coureal, "I can peel away scents as well and ignore that gas cloud!"

"Glad you noticed it was gas," James stated, "if not then this fight would be just too unfair...I mean me, beating up some idiot?" James laughed producing his Flame Dial and pressing the button to send out a stream of flames to ignite the stream of gas. There was a loud explosion dealing massive damage to anything within the vicinity even the lamp posts were uprooted from their spots and sent flying into the nearby buildings.

Too bad Coureal wasn't hit by the explosion. Once more as if flaunting his superiority he had jetted away from the attack at the last minute. His speed was insane. He skidded across the ground for a few seconds before stopping and taking a look at the destruction James had caused. "Whoo, boy! And I hear I thought you knew how to talk the talk without knowing how to walk the walk. You surprised me there, kid!"

"Talking the talk may be my specialty, but pounding fools like you into the ground. That's just for fun," James mocked causing Coureal's ears to prick up. The two of them were getting serious now. Both sides were enjoying the little crash course in fighting they were having right now, but they would enjoy the victory even more.

"Then let's get straight to the fun!" shouted Coureal jumping back and then immediately kicking off of the ground and rocketing himself forward, "Soru!" Coureal applied a smooth twist to his own hand this time as he jabbed his finger forward, "as well as Shigan Rifle!"

James danced to the side like a matador, quickly arming his Shock Dial once more sending out a burst of sparks for Coureal's head. Coureal whipped his body to the side, sliding beneath the spray of electricity and sticking close to James. He wasn't about to let him escape.

If Coureal wanted to stick close to him James didn't mind cause he had the perfect close-ranged weapon as well. His hand flickered to his bag, exchanging his Shock Dial for his Impact Dial in a flash. Such a smooth exchange and he was already ready for their next exchange, which would be coming in a second.

Coureal turned around, flipping onto his hands as his legs jumped into the air and immediately fell down at separate paces. Both came down separately like twin blades that cut their way sharply at James. James dodged it just as sharply, cutting it close to the first, but widely avoiding the second. It seemed like James was gradually learning Coureal's speed and timing.

Coureal rocketed forward once more. "Shigan!" James rocketed back, flipping around and launching a swinging kick upwards, cutting into the chin of his foe and throwing him onto his back. However, while it may have seemed like a good hit it was actually very light and it was really just throwing Coureal off balance.

"What is that Shigan thing you keep using?" asked James as he took a few steps back, before realizing how pointless it was. Coureal could close any distance between them in a matter of seconds.

"I guess Skypieans probably don't have a very firm hold on Rokushiki, do they?" asked Coureal as he shook his head. "Rokushiki is what decades of martial arts training can bestow onto an individual. Six powerful arts that only beings with superhuman strength and speed can obtain."

"Six?" guffawed James before blinking briefly. "I suppose another one is that Soru you used earlier. What about the other four? Can you show me what they are?"

Coureal looked to the side and scratched his neck in embarrassment. "I only have access to one other one." Coureal laughed uneasily, "and even then its nothing too special. You see, I was born with an unnatural talent for using my legs. I was born able to use Soru, I enlisted in the Marines hoping to better my ability to use in combat situations, you understand?" Coureal explained carefully.

"So Soru is the ability to move incredibly fast and you were born able to use it?" James stated, slightly annoyed. James' only natural ability was his brain and here he was fighting someone whose ability was speed. They were obviously pretty close to even in regards to natural talent. So James just needed to find another way past him.

James still had a few ideas to stop Coureal. "Bring it on," James shouted as he lifted another Dial into the air. Coureal grinned broadly as he lowered his weight and furled his fingers.

"I'm fine with that!" Coural braced himself on the cold cement, "Soru!" Just like that Coureal came at James, his claws slashing through the air trying to cut James down in one mean swoop. James back-stepped the first one, but found himself awfully close to the wall when the second came. He threw his arms in front of him to brace for the next wide slash from Coureal.

The attack was quick, yet powerful throwing James to the side and causing him to stumble long enough for Coureal to charge forward again. James gritted his teeth, he needed a break in the action to set things up!

"This'll have to do!" shouted James as he brought out a Flash Dial and sent a bright searing bolt of light directly at Coureal. While he couldn't bet on blinding him a slight pause in his actions wasn't too much to hope for.

Even if Coureal could use his nose to 'see' it didn't stop him from using his eyes at all. The sudden bright flash still burned its way into his retina causing him to reel back. His ferocious assault coming to a sudden halt. James moved on quickly shifting through his Dials to the next one. His Impact Dial at the ready. A brief opening was all he could afford, but it would have to be good enough.

He produced his small Jet Dial aimed it forward at the building and let it rip! The air burst free from the small contraption, ripping through the air and hitting the wall. Just like on a windy day the air hit the wall and the ground, ripping around it shot upwards. The air buffeted itself against the ground and walls, whipping itself into a frenzy right up to the point that it shot upwards.

It was a common occurrence. Especially in busy cities where the natural wind would whip around, hit a building and then rocket upwards, often taking young girl's skirts with it. It was a common phenomna and albeit usually just a way for perverted young teens to get some kicks it does have its advantages to know these kinds of things.

Primarily that even if such a weak wind could lift up skirts then a powerful gust from one of James' Jet Dials should be able to do more such as lift an entire man up. Coureal's eyes widened as he was forced from the ground and were knocked into the air. If Coureal was in the air, he couldn't run!

In other words Coureal was now a sitting duck! James whipped forward and smashed his Impact Dial forward. "I got you now!" shouted James, "Impact!" However, despite the assurance in James voice and the fact that Coureal was supposedly trapped...

James' Dial swept nothing, but pure air.

Actions Speak Louder

Edit: Oops, fixed!

Okay, first off information pertaining to bonus updates. I've decided I'm going to go back and do that whole 'Bonus Update Per Ten Reviews' thing again, like I did at the beginning (I believe). In all honesty, I kind of wish I didn't have to, but the lack of reviews is really depressing. I mean I've only been getting like one or two a chapter on a bunch of my stories lately and I don't really know why. If its my writing has slipped (or another story has captivated your interests) I wouldn't mind knowing.

ANYWAYS, I don't want to be all preachy or depressing, but seriously. The bottom line is 'Every 10 Reviews I get, I'll post a bonus chapter', it may take me a day or two to actually post them, but its happening. I'll try to keep it up through September, but with school starting who knows if I can keep it up past that.

I really hope most people have put together Coureal's little trick. I think those are the best tricks an author can do. One where even without explaining it himself, everybody else understands what the trick was.
