I am so sorry this has taken so long guys. I've been sick, and working on other things. And I had some family stuff happen. So here's the merman story I will get the others done as fast as I can. :) ~Blackbird
Riker sighed as he set the last box down in his new house. He went out on the back porch and stared out at the ocean. He breathed the salty sea air, and gazed at the approaching storm clouds. It was so peaceful here. So quiet, so removed from the fast paced LA life. That was why Riker had bought the house, to get away from everything. To have a chance to just...be. He went inside and started unpacking. It only took him a few hours. He sat down in the living room and pulled out the book he was currently reading, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He sat quietly reading as the thunder out side grew louder and the wind whined against the house. He glanced up for a second as the rain started pounding on the roof, but then turned his attention back to the book. The house started to shake and Riker looked up in surprise and panic. He hid under the kitchen counter, so the ceiling wouldn't crush him if it fell. Once the shaking stopped he looked up and saw somethingon his porch. He realized on closer inspection it was a boy, and the boy was naked. His eyes went wide and a blush covered his cheeks. He ran to the bathoom and grabbed a wrapped the towel around the boy and picked him up bridal style. He noticed a cut on the boy's forehead and made a mental note to clean it when he got the boy inside. He carried the boy inside and laid him down on the couch. He got a wash cloth and started gently cleaning the boy's cut. He sat down and started reading his book again after bandaging the cut and waited for the boy to wake up.
The boy woke up an hour later, with a scream. He shot up and Riker instantly moved to his side. "Mom! Dad!"
"Hey, hey, calm down." Riker said, rubbing the boy's back. "Your okay." The boy started to calm down slowly, as Riker kept rubbing his back. "It's okay."
"Who...who are you?" the boy asked.
"My name is Riker." Riker said, "I found you on my porch after the storm."
"Oh." the boy said. "My names is Ross."
"Nice to meet you Ross." Riker said, smiling. "Listen you can stay here as long as you like, I'm on my own most of the time so it would be nice to have some company for a change."
"Thank-you." Ross said, smiling shyly at Riker. They were silent for a moment before Ross said, "Can I take a bath somewhere?"
"Sure." Riker said, smiling. "It's down the hall to the left." Ross stood up, careful to keep the towel around his waist. He stumbled aa little and Riker steadied him. "Careful there." he said.
Ross giggled. "Thank-you. I just don't have my land legs about me yet." Riker chuckled. Ross carefully walked down the hall toward the bathroom. Riker was looking for his book when he heard a thump from the bathroom. He went and opened the door slightly. "Ross, are you..." he trailed off as he saw that where Ross' legs used to be was now a yellow tail. He gaped at the tail for a minute. "Your a..."
"Yes I'm a merman." Ross said, taking the towel and wiping off his tail. The tail shimmered and turned back into two legs.
"How did you end up on my porch?" Riker asked.
Ross sighed. "I was with my parents, swimming. We were attacked by some sirens. They caputured me. They were planning to kill me." He thought back to the sirens. He remembered hearing his mother scream as they took him, the sharp spears trained on him. The cruel smiles and the evil, glinting eyes. "They locked me in a cage. It took me two weeks to make a hole big enough to get out of. I finally mananged to get away, and the storm came. It brought me here." He thought about the fear he felt as the siren's lair grew smaller and smaller. He saw the huge waves and swirling blacky-blue water that swirled around him before tossing him on the beach. His hazy vision of the outside of Riker's house before his vision went black. He was quiet for a moment, tears started to roll down his cheeks. "My parents are still there." He started to cry and Riker pulled Ross into his arms.
"It's gonna be okay Ross. I'll help you find them. I promise." he said.
"Thank-you." Ross whispered into Riker's chest. It was so warm and conforting. He felt a loss when Riker moved away.
"I'll get you some clothes." He said, and patted Ross' head. Ross watched him leave, telling himself he wasn't looking at Riker's ass. Riker came back a minute later. "They're probably to big, but they'll work to sleep in. They're my brother's."
"Thanks." Ross said, smiling slightly at him. Riker smiled back and turned away while Ross put the clothes on. "You can turn back around." Ross said.
Riker did and smiled "You look really cute in those clothes." Ross blushed, and hid his face in his hands. Riker laughed. "Come on you there's an extra room you can sleep in down the hall."
"I...I want to sleep with you, please." he said softly. Riker nodded, and motioned for Ross to follow him. They went to Riker's room, and climbed into his bed. Riker, on instinct, pulled Ross into his arms.
'He's so sweet.' Riker thought, 'Cute and innocent like he is...I think...I think I like him.'
Ross lay snuggled in Riker's arms. 'He's so warm...and wonderful. When he smiles I get all fluttery. I think...I think I like him' and they both drifted off to sleep.
The next day Riker took Ross out to show him around. He was standing in front of his house on the long front porch trying to tache Ross how to walk. He held his hands as Ross slowly walked forward. Ross fell for about the sixth time causing him and Riker to blush as he landed in Riker's arms.
"Thank-you." Ross said, softly.
"Are you going to keep saying that everytime I catch you?" Riker asked smiling.
Ross blushed, "Probably." Riker chuckled, and helped him back up. After a half hour oss finally go the hang of it and they headed for town. Riker bought Ross some new clothes so he wouldn't be stuck in Rocky's clothes which swamped him in some places and were tight in others.
"What's that?" Ross asked in awe as they walked through the town.
"That's a fountain." Riker said. "They take water from pipes and itt bubbles over. Pretty isn't it?" Ross nodded.
They walked a bit further. "What's that?" Riker asked, pointing to the window of a store with sunglasses.
"Those are sunglasses." Riker said, "You were them to protect your eyes from the sunlight."
"Really?!" Ross asked.
"Uh-huh." Riker said.
"Show me!" Ross said, bouncing. Riker chuckled and shook his head, thinking how adorable Ross was acting.
Riker saw the fair was in town and took Ross to the fair.
"What is this place?" Ross asked, looking around in wonder.
"This is called the fair." Riker said.
"It's wonderful!" Ross said, smiling. "Oh look a game where you toss rings onto bottles!"
Riker chuckled. "Yeah, there's all sorts of games and rides here."
"That black and white bear is adorable." Ross said, looking at a stuffed panda prize at the ring toss. "It's so giant and fluffy."
Riker laughed, "Well I'll try to win it for you." It took him six tries and thirty bucks, but Ross was worth it. He handed Ross the giant panda, and blushed when he got a kiss on the cheek in return.
They walked to the Ferris Wheel, and Riker got them tickets so they could ride on it. Hey got in the seat and Ross instantly put his head on Riker's shoulder cuddling into him.
"Thank-you for the perfect day." Ross said, as they neared the top. "I had an amazing time."
"I did too." Riker said, smiling. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Ross, I have to be completely honest...I think I'm falling in love with you." Ross smiled and wrapped his arms around Riker's neck and kissing him. Riker kissed back pulling Ross closer as they reached the top of the Ferris wheel, fireworks from some people on the beach going off in the distance. They parted slowly and smiled at each other. Riker pulled Ross close enjoying having him close.
All the sudden the lights went out. Riker blinked trying to adjust to the darkness, wrapping his arms around Ross to keep him close. People were panicing on the ground and in the cars around him, when all the sudden he heard Ross scream and felt him being ripped away from him. The lights immediately went back on and the ride continued as if nothing happened. Riker sat trying to figure out what had just happened. Realization dawned on him...the sirens! He waited for the ride to come to a sop and immediately jumped off. He ran to his car and drove home. He called Rydel and Rocky as he drove. He knew with Rydel's mythology obsession and Rocky's fighting ability he might actually stand a chance.
"Okay Rydel I need everything you know about sirens." Riker said, as they arrived.
"Um...they're sensitive to light..." she said, trying to think of anything else she'd read.
"We could start a fire." Rocky said, "Protect the house."
"Good idea." Riker said. Rocky nodded and went to start one.
Ross woke up and looked around groggily. He realized he was on a lab table and surrounding him were scientists in lab coats and sirens with fangs bared. His eyes went wide in fear. He tried to speak, but found his mouth was covered in duct tape. There was little light in the room causing Ross to panic. He'd never liked the dark. He'd liked it even less since his parents got taken, and the storm took him away, and even less since the fair yesterday. Ross noticed movement out of the corner of his eye and saw a scientist approaching with a bucket of water and a knife. Just as he reached Ross the lights went on flooding the room in light. The sirens started screaming and the scientists covered their ears. One of them grabbed a bunch of paperwork off the desk, and picked Ross up bridal style before running out the door with him. Ross started screaming at the top of his lungs but it was muffled by the duct tape. Riker saw him and the two other people with him, who Ross assumed were his siblings ttold him o go. Riker followed after Ross and the scientist, but the scientist had a head start and Riker couldn't quite catch up. He reached the parking lot in time to see the scientist trying to put Ross in the trunk of the car and Ross was crying and making muffled pleas through the duct tape. Riker growled his face going dark as he saw the boy he loved in pain. The scientist closed Ross in the trunk and Riker quietly slipped in the back seat as the scientist got in the driver's seat. Riker quickly strangled the scientist who managed to pull Riker's arms from his neck seconds later. He tried to punch Riker in the gut, but Riker quickly moved so his body was protected by the man's seat and slammed his head into the stering wheel, causing the horn to beep and the scientist to fall unconscious. Riker grabbed the keys out of the ignition and climbed out of the car. He unlocked the trunk, and opened it. He could hear Ross crying and whimpering, thinking that it was the scientist coming back. He stopped when he saw Riker. Riker untied him and took the duct tape off his mouth. Ross hugged him tightly, crying into Riker's shirt. Riker rubbed his back soothingly, whispering words of comfort in his ear. After a minute Ross pulled back and kissed Riker passionately. He pulled back. "I love you."
"I love you too." Riker said, breathlessly "For all eternity."
