-Chapter Forty-Nine-

"Hold on a second, are you sure there aren't any boats around here? How long will it take us to reach the shore?" Usopp asked.

"The rest of the night" Vivi responded.

"That's insane!" he exclaimed.

"Can't be helped, the least we can do now is keep moving and not stop" I shrugged.

"Thanks a lot, thanks for the ride, bye!" Chopper waved back at the crab.

"Oh, shup up, he's the reason we're in this mess" Usopp bitterly mumbled. "What the?" he questioned before screaming as a giant fist emerged from out of the water.

"It's a Sandora Catfish, they're rarely seen by humans!" Vivi exclaimed.

"Doesn't seem that rare to me!" Usopp cried.

"Why are half the animals in this country so big?" I pondered aloud.

"Did I also mention that they love to eat human flesh" Vivi said as everyone started moving away from the giant catfish.

"You could have told us sooner!" Usopp cried out as everyone desperately tried to move away from the giant predator. Before stopping when the fish started shaking.

"Get off me, damn it! I can't see a thing with you hanging on so tight, Chopper!" Zoro cursed as he pulled at the reindeer that was clinging onto his face.

"Dugongs?" I tilted my head as the small animals threw the large catfish into the air.

"What? Kung Fu Dugongs?" Usopp asked, it wasn't long after before we were all sitting on top of the knocked-out catfish while the Dugongs pulled it through the water. Like a makeshift raft.

"They said they were just looking out for their fellow pupils" Chopper translated.

"Aw, that's so sweet of them" I cooed.

"Pupils? What, they think Luffy's our master? Please" Usopp scoffed.

"You really want to argue with them?" Vivi asked.

"Yeah, why don't you try showing them your strength, Captain Usopp" I teased as the long-nosed pirated coughed into his hand.

"Hang in their guys, just a little further!" he suddenly cheered, ignoring the slight giggling coming from a few of us.

-Later-

"Thanks a lot" Vivi smiled as she, Chopper, and I waved bye to the Dugongs.

"You guys were of great help to us" I chirped.

"Bye, bye" Chopper waved.

"Now that things are going smoothly, can we make it in time?" Zoro asked, grabbing my hand and intertwining our fingers.

"I don't know, even riding Eyelash, I'm not sure when we'll get there" Vivi said, biting her lower lip in worry.

"Well this is troublesome" I commented as the others nodded their heads in agreement.

"Not to be pessimistic, but Eyelash can only carry three of us. If Baroque Works is going to attack us it will be from here on, so we can't split up, isn't there anyway for us to stick together?" Usopp asked. "Damn, this isn't good" he cursed when no one had an answer.

"Look over there!" Nami pointed.

"What is it now, is it the enemy? Don't tell me they're here to kill us already" Usopp whimpered.

"I don't think they could have found us that quickly" I commented.

"No, wait, that sound" Vivi said before spotting Carue leading a bunch of other ducks, all of them running towards us. "Carue and the Supersonic Duck Squadron!" she gasped as the ducks came to a halt in front of us and saluted the princess. "You've come to help us, haven't you, Carue?" she smiled, hugging Carue before climbing onto him and motioning for us to follow.

-The Next Morning-

The sun was slowly starting to rise as we rode in silence. Everyone wearing the same white robe to help in confusing the enemy and for our plan to work. There had only been seven ducks, Zoro opted for me to ride with him and let Eyelash take the last one, funny how a camel got to ride its own duck while I was stuck clinging to the swordsman. "Dodge it!" Zoro ordered when a baseball was shot at us, we all broke away from one another. Each group taking their designated route. When we had finally stopped, we faced the two members that had followed us.

"Too bad, but it looks like your guess was wrong!" Nami, Zoro, and I exclaimed.

"What?!" the two members exclaimed.

"Yeah, come on, Zoro! Let them have it!" Nami cheered on the sidelines as I laughed.

"Would you keep it quiet over there!" the swordsman snapped.

"Aw, but she's just trying to be supportive of you" I giggled. "Would it make you feel better if I started cheering for you as well?" I snickered as Nami started to laugh at the flustered look on the swordsman's face. He stumbled over his words before finally making a coherent sentence.

"N-no! Now shut up, now isn't the time for messing around!"

"They fooled us" Mr. One said, it wasn't hard to figure out that was his alias seeing how he had a giant one written on his chest and stomach. Based on what Vivi told us, his partner was Miss. Doublefinger.

"That's a first" the blue haired woman sighed, watching in slight amusement at our interactions with one another.

"Go ahead, Zoro, what are you waiting for? Punch them out!" Nami cheered.

"Yeah, come on Zoro, show them who's boss" I cheered as well, snickering at the irritated look he gave us.

"I don't need a cheering squad! Go hide somewhere!" he snapped before directing his attention back towards the duo in front of him. "Alright you guys, do you think you can make this a little challenging?" he asked, before becoming confused as the two walked right pass him.

"Hurry up and finish those…really ugly…bad looking people…" Nami slowly trailed off as she became confused by the fact that the two had walked pass Zoro like they didn't even acknowledge him.

"Eh?" I questioned, quick to react as they drew closer towards Nami and I.

"What do you think you're doing? Hold up" Zoro growled.

"Primarily rule to assassination says all weaker targets are to be eliminated first" Mr. One explained.

"We'll show you how professionals handle these sort of things" Miss. Doublefinger smiled as Nami started to become distressed by the current situation.

"Funny, I thought it would be easier to take out the strongest first so you don't have any trouble taking out the rest" I growled, body tensing up the closer they got.

"W-wait, you mean us?" Nami sputtered out.

"Speak for yourself" I lowly muttered, I may not be on Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro's level but I still could defend myself. Just a little better than Nami, Usopp, and occasionally Chopper.

"Hold on just a minute, getting rid of us won't accomplish anything at all, sure we're pretty and we know how to dress. But, that's all, I mean I don't really have any fighting skills" Nami continued to babble as I could practically hear Zoro growl in frustration from his spot.

"Yes, we know, it's clearly obvious. As we said, picking off the weak ones first is the fastest way to work. First you, then the other young missy beside you, and finally the swordsman" Miss. Doublefinger explained.

"Sure, of course it is, well naturally I know you're right about that one. I'd do the same thing myself in this situation" Nami nervously laughed, lightly hitting herself over the head. Before she took off running. I swallowed thickly and gave the two a stern look when they grew closer before walking right pass me.

"Not even going to acknowledge my presence, thought you said you were going to kill me as well" I said.

"As I said before, first we'll take care of the weakest out of the three of you. The girl that took off running and then we'll come back for you. Clearly you have some bite in you" the woman hummed as her and Mr. One continued on their way.

"And that's exactly why I told her to shut up and hide somewhere" Zoro sweat dropped.

"Shall we go after them before they catch her?" I asked, he nodded his head as we both followed.

"Hm? What was that?" I asked when a loud rumble shook the ground and a smoke cloud be seen off somewhere in the distance.

"Who cares, let's just keep looking, she doesn't seem to be around here" Zoro grumbled as we continued looking for our navigator. "That brainless little fool, where did she manage to lose herself this time? That's why I told her to pipe down and hide, but no, she has to go running off on her own and make me waste my time looking for her. Stupid Nami" I couldn't help but laugh at his frustrated rambling. "What are you laughing at?!"

"Sorry, just, you look so cute rambling" I giggled.

"Shut up!" he embarrassingly snapped. We continued our search and by the time we had finally found her, she was being corner by Mr. One. Zoro was quick to react as he blocked the man's attack, saving the orange haired woman. I quickly rushed over and help her as she clung to me, shaking in fear at the close encounter.

"Zoro, Skylar" she breathed out before gasping as the stone column she had been cornered against a minute ago, split into many pieces. "That stone column split into pieces!"

"It didn't split, it was sliced. Only a swordsman could do something like that" Zoro huffed.
