"White. If I could be any color, I would be white." Tiana said.
"Thanks, Ti, I do have the best color don't I." Owen smirked.
Josie rolled her eyes. "Thank you, Tiana, for giving him an even bigger ego."
Josie turned to Z. "Okay your turn. If you could be any ranger color what color would you want to be?"
Z paused. "Um…. I guess red. It would be cool to be the leader and have Alex's powers." Z said.
"Speaking of Alex, where is that dork?" Jaxon asked.
As they mentioned his name, Alex along with Madison and Calev came running in with big grins on their face.
"You guys won't believe how much stronger we're getting." Alex grinned.
Calev nodded. "These boosts from our ancestors really are changing everything."
Owen smirked. "Nice, although I don't know how I can be any stronger considering I can alter reality, but hey."
Josie rolled her eyes. "You know when you were dead, it was a lot quieter around here."
"I can't wait for all of us to get our armor." Jaxon smirked.
Z sighed. Watching the others gloat about their ancestral power, made her feel left out. She was a ranger, but not like them. She needed Gondu's magic and to feed off energy to power her armor. Her suit had a time limit and her powers had a catch.
Lately Z realized she had craving energy more and more. Like when you go all day without a meal, and once you get the tiniest taste of food you want to devour everything in sight. Whenever she drained someone's energy that's how she felt. She wanted more and more.
Tiana noticed Z was upset and turned to her. "Hey bestie, whatcha you thinking about?"
Z sighed. "Everything. Nothing. I don't even know anymore."
Tiana frowned and sat down next to her. "I can tell you're upset."
"I feel like an outsider with you guys. I've always felt like an outsider. You guys have your powers to bind you guys together. You all have been together since the beginning. I've just been along for the ride." Z sighed.
Tiana shook her head. "Z don't say that."
"It's the truth." Z frowned.
Tiana hugged your friend. "No matter what you'll always be apart of our team and you will always be our friend."
Z nodded. She slowly felt herself start to believe Tiana more. Maybe the team did need her. As Tiana held Z, Z couldn't help but sense the energy inside of her. The raw power that tempted Z's touch. She needed it. She wanted to drain every drop of the energy inside of her-
Z snapped out of her trance. She shook her head and pulled away. "Tiana I should probably go."
Tiana frowned. "Okay, I'll talk to you later."
Z nodded and walked out of the apartment. Her phone buzzed, and she pulled it out. She smiled when she saw who it was from.
Olivia: Are you doing anything right now?
Z: No, Y?
Olivia: Wanna hang.
Z smiled. A cute girl wanting to hang out with her? Z texted her back.
Z: Sure.
"Thanks for hanging, I don't really have any friends in Diablo." Oliva said.
Z nodded. The two currently sat in Z's room, watching Netflix. Z couldn't help but blush at how close her and Oliva were.
"It's no problem." Z said.
"So, how's life, slay any demons?" Olivia asked.
Z shrugged. "It's been awhile since we faced a demon. Nowadays it's all twisted relatives and skeletons from the rangers closet."
Olivia nodded. "Well my life has been pretty boring lately. I spend all my time with that strong dude and that lighting boy."
"You mean Tyler and Sean?" Z asked.
"Them too." Olivia smirked.
Z chuckled before turning towards Olivia. She couldn't help but notice how pretty she was. Z closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Before she could chicken out of it, she leaned in and kissed Olivia. The girl was surprised at first, just lying there as the blond girl kissed her. However, Olivia pushed Z off, once she gained control of herself.
Z frowned. "Did I do something wrong?"
Olivia shook her head. "No Z, it's just that…"
Olivia sighed. "Z I don't like you like that."
Z frowned. "But…." She didn't know what to say.
She was sure Olivia liked her. That she was flirting with her. She felt stupid. Hot tears threated to stream down her face.
"Z you're two years younger than me, there's a lot you need to learn about yourself before we could ever be together." Olivia sighed.
Z shook her head. "It's fine." She sighed before walking towards the door.
Olivia stopped her. "It's your house Z, I'm the one that should go."
Z nodded. "I…..I guess I'll see you around."
Olivia sighed. "Z I really do you hope you find the right person, girl or guy, that will make you happy."
Z shook her head. "Yeah, me too."
Z sat down on her bed and broke down. It hurt when Tiana rejected her, it felt like she would never find love. This felt one hundred times worse. With Tiana, Z always knew there was never a chance, she was straight and in love with Alex. She at least had a chance with Olivia, and yet she still wasn't loved by her either.
"What's wrong with me! I'm not good enough to be a real ranger, I can't find someone, what did I do wrong!" Z screamed to the ceiling.
Z fell back on her bed and sighed. "Why can't I just be happy?" She asked aloud.
Z sighed as she sat in front of the tombstone. The girl was currently at the cemetery, wearing a purple hoodie, due to the cold weather.
"What are you doing out here?" Tiana asked.
Z turned to Tiana. "How did you find me?"
"Gondu has an amazing locator spell and plus Olivia said you were in bad shape in and needed a friend." Tiana said.
Z frowned. "Did she say anything else?"
"Is there anything else I should know?" Tiana asked.
"Only that I made a complete fool of myself." Z frowned.
Tiana shook her head. "You liked a girl, and she didn't like you back. It happens."
"It's not just that, I always feel like I can't ever be enough." Z frowned.
Tiana frowned. "Z you are more than enough, whoever told you, you aren't isn't worth your time."
"Does that still apply when the person who said that gave birth to you?" Z asked sadly.
Tiana frowned. "You're mom? You barely talk about her. I just assumed you didn't want to disrespectful to your stepmom."
Z sighed. "When I saw seven my mom became pregnant. Sadly she had a miscarriage."
Tiana gasped. "Z I'm so sorry."
"That's not the end of the story. After that she became angry with me. She fell into depression and began to neglect and abuse me. She always made sure to remind me that I should have died instead of that baby. Two years later she killed her herself." Z cried.
Tiana gasped. She had no idea Z could be holding in a secret like this in. Tiana hugged her best friend. "You should have told me Z, you know I have you're back."
Z nodded. "I just wanted to feel…I don't what's the word."
"Happy, Z. You want to feel happy. Hell we all do. This year has taken a lot out of all us. And when this whole Apocalypse thing is over, we're going to live our best life without having to worry about saving the world." Tiana smiled.
Z nodded. "Thanks Tiana."
Tiana's mother and her father sat down at the kitchen table. Each were determined not to meet the other's eyes.
"We have to tell her." Her mother said.
Her father shook his head. "There's no way we can tell her."
Mrs. Jones frowned. "Honey I am pretty sure I saw her move a pencil with her mind. If she has her powers she may already know."
Mr. Jones shook his head. "This is all your fault anyway."
Her mother glared. "This is on both of us."
Her father sighed. "So what do we do?"
"We tell Tiana everything." She sighed,
Next: Tiana learns a hidden truth about herself as she tries to unlock her armor, meanwhile Z struggles with her new addiction.
So next chapter will be Tiana focused, and it will finally be revealed why Tiana has never got her weapon. There have been some things I've been hinting about Tiana throughout the story that will eventually come to full circle.
Also I finally have my wattpad account setup! After years of trying to gain the courage to write and stick with a story idea, I think I found a story idea I really like. The link for my page is on my bio, I hope you check it out.
