'You're not very good at this Delsin.'
'How the hell do you manage to stay upright in these things?'
Caterina was giggling at Delsin. She shouldn't have laughed but she really couldn't help herself. If Delsin had fallen over once then he had fallen over a dozen more times. He had managed to skate a few yards on his own near the barrier after Caterina had shown him what to do and help him round for a little while; but Delsin was pretty adamant in doing it on his own. He did however, give up eventually.
'I'll never be able to do this.' Delsin stated as he shakily made his way back over to the benches at the reception area.
'It's just practice. You have to start somewhere in a lot of things.' Caterina replied. She hobbled over and took a seat next to Delsin who was now undoing the skates he had on.
'How much did you practice? I mean you said you skated competitively.'
'I went to lessons once a week when I started. Then the coaches thought I had some talent so it went to twice a week. When I was competing I trained every day after school.'
'Wow that's pretty hardcore.'
'I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it even more when I won stuff.'
'I guess that's where your competitive side comes from.' Delsin chuckled at Cat.
'I suppose. I've always been like that though. Here let me take those.'
Caterina had already taken off her own skates and picked up the ones Delsin had on. She wandered around behind the reception desk and put them away before she sat back down and put her army boots back on.
'So um, what do you plan on doing about Augustine?' Caterina asked carefully, knowing that Reggie's death had only happened hours prior. Delsin did seem to have calmed down quite a bit since then but she didn't want to make him angry.
'I'm not sure. Hank, did tell me how to disable the electric security fences around the tower she's locked herself in. The place will be crawling with DUPE's though.'
'And… do you still want my power?' Caterina questioned. Delsin must have noticed the look of worry on her face. Cat knew it wasn't a walk in the park whenever Delsin took another conduit's powers. She wasn't even entirely sure what he'd get seeing as three of the abilities she had weren't even hers to begin with, or if it would even work at all.
'Y'know, all I want to do is deal with Augustine and go home. I know you offered, but…' Delsin paused for a moment whilst he tried to find the right words to say. 'I don't want to get too greedy. We don't have the time either; I'd need to absorb a few blast cores to use your power properly and that takes time we don't have.'
'I see. I suppose you're right.' Caterina remarked. She clipped the sides of her boots together just before she stood up. 'If Augustine is gonna be taken down then I think we'd better do it sooner rather than later.'
'Exactly. She's probably really pissed by now.' Delsin replied as he stood up in front of Cat.
'And the sooner we get her out of the way, the sooner I can release the info my brother collected and left me. We can expose them all!'
Delsin had to admire her enthusiasm. It wasn't going to be easy; he was planning on storming Augustine's tower by himself but Caterina was definitely coming along for the ride.
'So what did Hank tell you about the electric fences? Are Fetch and Eugene gonna be helping us too?' Caterina asked him, she wanted to know what the plan was.
'Hank said there was a power transformer near the tower that could be shut down, that would take care of the fences. And as for Fetch and Eugene, I don't expect them to come, I mean it could get pretty hairy. But if they do tag along it'll be a big help.'
Delsin and Cat made their way back upstairs and out of the window Caterina had originally entered the building through. Up on the roof, the two conduits could hear Augustine's voice being broadcasted through the tannoy at a D.U.P. checkpoint not that far away. The recording was being played over and over again; stating how the citizens of Seattle had to be on guard and report any sightings of the group of "runaway conduits." Delsin's name was mentioned a few times along with Fetch and Eugene. Even Caterina was mentioned too.
'She sounds desperate.' Caterina stated after she carefully listened to the broadcast.
'Well I think now would be a good time to pay Augustine a visit.'
Caterina raised her eyebrows as she stared at Delsin. Perhaps it really was a good idea to go after her now, but then again she wondered if it had anything to do with Reggie's death not all that long ago. She originally thought his idea of going after Augustine would be sometime in the near future and not right at this very moment.
'Are you sure Delsin?' Caterina asked, concerned that he may be jumping in at the deep end.
'Like I said, I want to finish this. Then we're going home.'
Caterina never said a thing but Delsin did notice that she looked a little worried. He edged closer to her and took her hand, giving it a light squeeze.
'What's wrong?' He asked the crimson haired girl.
'Are you really sure I'm welcome to come home with you? I mean, will your tribe be oka…'
'Cat, woah woah!' Delsin stopped her. 'You keep asking me and worrying about this. You're coming home with me and that's final. I'm sure everyone will like you, especially Betty.'
'You think so? Um, who's Betty?'
'Oh you'll find out soon.' Delsin grinned. He squeezed Caterina's hand again before he tugged her closer and wrapped his arms around her. 'You shouldn't worry so much Cat, I'm not letting you go you know that. I don't wanna lose you too.'
Caterina heard those words and instantly snuggled in to Delsin, squeezing her own arms around his waist. Seeing as Delsin was intent on going after Augustine now; all Caterina could do was be there with him when he did and make sure that he didn't do anything reckless like what he almost did with Hank. She wasn't about to let him become a murderer if she could help it; especially after remembering that Reggie said his little brother was a good kid at heart, but a little misguided at times. Caterina knew Reggie wasn't really her biggest fan, but he had helped so much and lost his life because of all of this. The least she could do was keep Delsin on the straight and narrow for him. She had to be stronger and not run away. Delsin needed her and she was going to be there to provide the support and help he needed. Caterina always started to overthink everything especially regarding her personal situation. She was just happy knowing that both she and Delsin could be there for each other.
'Come on, let's get going Cat. We got a concrete bitch to expose.'
