Hi, so I am back now from my holiday and i'm back to regular updating and I present you with this chapter as a gift.
I really wanna make something clear I didn't write about the date except vaguely. This whole chapter is about the bond between Killian and his son, Liam is now in the position where he understands that Killian and Emma are dating but he's also gaining back his memories of what happened the Missing Year and Zelena and he's acting out in future chapters trying to deal with what happened. Also the fact that Killian has two hands is confusing to Liam, and also the date was written beautifully and i'm not the writers of Once Upon A Time-So this entire chapter focuses on Liam and Killian not Killian and Emma.
Disclaimer-Nothing is mine just Liam.
Please Read and Review, a big thank you to all who have read this story it means a lot.
Next Chapter-Breaking Glass-Regina tells Emma a few home truths about what the missing year was like, meanwhile Killian gets called into Liam's school because Liam has been in a fight with another Storybrooke resident.
The Pirate's Son
Chapter 45-The Apprentice
Killian goes on a date, has two hands, then doesn't have two hands, and Liam is very confused and smarter than he looks.
It was bloody typical. He had spent two years of his bloody life pining after this woman, he had done unspeakable things, had put so much on the line, had nearly lost the only thing he ever cared about…and then one again she had gone and surprised him so much so that he had dropped the dart he was holding and then went and acted like a complete prat.
There was something childish about the way he was acting. The thought of a date with Emma Swan…it was making him feel…almost like he had felt in the beginning with Milah. The…almost shy feeling that was swimming around him. It was an old dusty feeling that he hadn't used in a while.
But he wanted to do something first. After everything he figured he was entitled to a break. And while Captain Hook had earned him a name, a son, and a life…he wanted to be something else. He needed to be something else. He wanted to be Killian Jones again.
He wanted…he wanted to be the father Liam deserved. He wanted to be whole and normal. He wanted to be able to pick up his little baby boy who Killian realised with a jolt to the stomach wasn't a baby anymore and soon wouldn't be so little. He had missed out on so much of Liam's life-doing everything with one hand, feeding him, washing him, and clothing him, hugging him, picking him up, and loving him.
Two hands would make a difference not just for his personal relationship with Emma but it would help him be a better father. And after everything Liam had been through the one thing he could do was ensure he was as whole as he could possibly be.
And that of course meant the Dark One. The plus side being however he at least knew the twisted crocodile was lying through his teeth over the dagger. There was no possible way that Belle had the real one. Which gave him…for the first time in a long time…a bargaining chip.
And then just like that. His hand was back.
He spent the entirety of the trip getting new clothes grinning at the fact that he had two hands probably made him look like an idiot. Hell he was so hysterically excited about the look on Emma and Liam's faces when he saw his hands he even used the phone-thingy to ask Emma to pick Liam up so he could spend the night at her parents apartment.
He pretended not to hear David's gagging in the background when Emma asked him if he was 'planning on plundering anything tonight'
Elsa was probably going to be there so if Liam got tired she could probably find something to entertain him with. Maybe another snow monster. Though if he knew Liam…and he did he would probably be thrilled by the very idea of his own miniature snow monster.
But that was a headache for another time.
Swan naturally didn't disappoint. She looked…well he wasn't going to say what she looked like or what he really wanted to do when her father and his son were both in the room but she seemed easily distracted by the two hands thing.
And then it was Liam's turn. He came bounding down the stairs-not tripping and breaking a bone which was a remarkable achievement-and launched himself into Killian's arms. He grinned hoisting him up with both hands relishing the feeling of two hands keeping him secure.
"Good day?" he asked carefully raising an eyebrow to Emma who grinned wickedly at him. Liam nodded grinning his hair sticking up with what looked like snow…oh good Elsa was here.
He dropped Liam down onto the floor and then…then Liam seemed to grasp that the hook was missing.
"What…Papa…two hands?" he asked his eyes wide and blue and his little mouth falling open. Killian grinned once again wondering how on earth he had managed to get a baby who was this adorable.
"Well...Mr Gold finally decided to do something good for the first time in his miserable existence and gave Papa back his hand" he said knocking it down just so that Liam could understand.
Liam poked one of his fingers before looking confused "No hook?" he asked looking upwards and Killian nodded unsure for a second why Liam seemed so uninterested or unsure in the fact that he had two hands now.
"No hook" he said carefully. "From now on it's just two hands" Liam raised an eyebrow before nodding carefully. Oh good. He was only six and Killian could already sense the sarcasm that was developing under the surface.
God help him when the teenage years came. He probably wouldn't survive it. Liam and the teenage angst period even he remembered.
Ugh.
But still he had a date to go to, so he left Liam with the promise to behave and then led Emma Swan out the door.
It seemed amazing at how things turned out.
Except it wasn't.
He could feel something brewing underneath the surface of his hand could feel the itch to hit something or someone…it didn't feel…right.
The second he dropped Emma off (after a mind-blowing kiss) he decided to throw some level of caution to the wind and let Liam spend the night at her place. Her face lit up in a big smile and much to Killian's horror he had an honest thought of smacking it off her with his hand.
Even in all his years as a pirate that had never happened. He had never raised his hand to a woman or in any way forced himself on one-even Captain Hook had some morals. But worse. If this was what the hand wanted to do to Emma then what would it want to do to Liam?
And that settled it. He had to get the hand off now.
"Well obviously the hand only recognises you as Captain Hook" the crocodile said as if Killian was stupid. "I removed it before you became a father remember" he rolled his eyes as the two of them sat in the car.
"I knew your general intellect was lacking somewhat but come on"
His only bargaining chip was Belle. And then Gold turned his eyes on him carefully looking torn between boards and manic. "I could mention Miss Swan but I won't-but you know how it is to lose a child Hook-that's why you drank Regina's potion, I think we both know I have no issues with taking another person you love with whatever is left of your heart"
It was like the Snow Queen had frozen his heart over. Gold knew he couldn't live through that again. Liam…losing him…it would kill him…
So it was with his little boy in mind that he followed Gold to some old man's house, watched as he sucked him into a hat, he watched with some level of detachment. It had come to the point where if he thought about that hour of agony with Liam-he could watch or sit through just about anything.
And then the hand was gone.
Emma wisely said very little about it perhaps thinking that was what made him feel so melancholy but it wasn't.
"Hand's gone" Liam said finally when he saw the hook as they were walking home.
"Yes" Killian said carefully unsure of what Liam was going to do. "Good" his son said flatly "I didn't like he" he looked up suddenly all wide eyed and innocent looking "I like you with your hook" he mumbled and if Killian didn't know every pattern of Liam's speech since he started talking he might have missed what came next "Made me feel safe"
It floored him, "I will always keep you safe" Killian said bending down to Liam's level so he could see into his eyes. "Always"
"I don't want her to come back" Liam muttered again blushing slightly "Who?" Killian asked though he had a sneaking suspicion who his son was referring to.
"The green lady" he confessed quietly and Killian couldn't stand it anymore, he swept Liam up into his arms and ran his good hand through his hair.
"She's not" he said speaking with conviction. He had seen the tape, spent hours analysing it and had come to the same conclusion. Zelena was gone.
"She killed me" Liam said flatly "That's what Henry said to Emma-I overheard, she killed me and then you saved me because I'm your True Love"
Instinctually he pressed Liam closer burying his face in his mess of dark hair.
"Yes" he said thickly "You are"
"More than Emma?" Liam asked his little brow furrowed and Killian nodded without hesitation because if push came to shove he knew which one he would chose-everytime.
"You are my whole world" he said truthfully "And weather I have one hand or two I promise you Liam I will protect you with everything I have"
That seemed to satisfy Liam who nodded settled his head onto Killian's chest and smiled.
"Can we get some chocolate now?" he asked carefully and Killian let out a rather broken and watery laugh making Liam giggle too (and fuck if that wasn't just adorable-his son was breeding cuteness like a disease).
"You can have all the chocolate you want tonight" he said and he thought his heart was going to implode again when he felt Liam smile against his neck.
Nothing was better than this.
I will update as soon as I am able to meanwhile let me know what you think.
