Kenji got back to Konoha and saw that the construction was going well. He also saw that someone had started building a house that looked similar to the one he had built before the attack. He smiled and landed near the construction site. They explained that Konohamaru had told them that he had helped with the first house and that Kenji deserved to have it rebuilt. Kenji smiled and told them to add a stone in what would be in the back yard. He also explained to have it inscribed with Mendari, Asuma, and Kandao's names. He wanted a personal memorial made to them. Before he left he saw Ino and Tenten.

"How's that man of yours Ino?"

"Oh Kumo, he is doing well. His skill with building puppets helps him some rebuilding. How is Nensho?"

"He is stuck helping Guy Sensei with something, they are carrying lumber or something. Oh look its Kenji sensei."

Things had managed to clear up after the Hyugga incident. Nensho had come back willingly and Hinata was now the clan head of the clan. Ino and Kumo had been an item for a while now, same with Nensho and Tenten. Kenji smiled as they approached.

"Oh hello girls. How are you two?"

"We are doing good sensei. How are you and Shizune? Have you guys talked about the ceremony?"

"We are doing ok. She is busy taking care of Lady Tsunade. The ceremony is on hold until a later date. Lady Tsunade is still in her coma lest you forget and she was going to be giving Shizune away. So please ladies, just don't ask right now." Kenji said while leaving to go check on Lady Tsunade.

He then went up to check on Lady Tsunade and Shizune. When he landed at the tent that she was in he announced his presence. Shizune said for him to enter. He sat down near her and pulled her head in close and let her cry for a while. Kenji kissed her forehead and let her get back to taking care of Lady Tsunade. She nodded and he left the tent. He went to the supplies tent and repacked on kunai, paper bombs and some ninja wire. He was surprised on how many shinobi were trying to take advantage of the situation here.

He made his way out of Konoha and rendezvoused with the ANBU commander. The commander asked about Lady Tsunade's condition. Kenji mentioned that it was unchanged, the commander simply nodded. As Kenji was about to leave when the commander stopped him for one last report.

"How is Shizune? Is she doing ok?" he commander asked.

"Yes sir, she is of course upset, but she will be okay. At least I hope so." Kenji said turning away and leapt into the distance.

He got to his patrol route shortly after dusk and set up his camp. He leaned against a tree and rested his head. He knew things would get worse, the Akatsuki were still out there. He hoped that Lady Tsunade would wake up, the village needed its Hokage. He saw that another ANBU operative was taking over while he slept for a couple hours. They nodded to each other when Kenji tended his fire and then drifted off to sleep. Things are going to get bad, I can tell.

After a couple of hours he got back and met up with his replacement. They discussed the details of what occurred while Kenji was asleep before Kenji went back to checking the border. He remembered the first mission where he left the village with Mendari Sensei and everyone.

They had gone to the country of the Amegakure, the Village hidden in the rain. They had been trying to infiltrate one of the enemy's key bases. After a couple of days of intense fighting Asuma had the idea about having Kurenai putting one of them under some kind of genjutsu. That way they could do what they wanted, even let them I some secret way into the base. It was a good plan Mendari Sensei stated, but these enemies had been resistant to their Genjutsu so far. Even Kenji's rudimentary one they had seen right through. As they were about to call the mission bust, a shinobi from the inside had found their small camp.

He was the second in command and he wanted to become leader of the base. He asked that in exchange for the lives of him his men that he would point out, he would get them inside to take the base. Mendari Sensei told him to give them a few moments to come up with a plan. They all made clones and the clones followed him, while the originals kept their distance and followed out of sight. When the clones managed to get into the main complex without any sort of trap the originals jumped in.

There was some fighting, but now the advantage of walls was taken away. The shinobi that had found them told them key people not to kill, other than that enemy shinobi dropped left and right. Mendari had several encased in her mud style jutsu's and Asuma was fighting off some of the enemy shinobi in hand to hand. Kenji searched for the enemy commander, destroy the head and the body should follow he thought. He dashed off into a large building and followed the lights into a large room.

There he found a man who stared Kenji down. Kenji could tell this man was Jonin level. Squad twelve had been renamed Team twelve, seeing as how they were all Chunin except Mendari. Kenji felt fear, but he knew that this is what he had been training for. He felt that the ground was wet.

"Concealing mist jutsu!" Kenji yelled as the room soon filled with mist.

"So you can do the Concealing Mist, interesting." The commander said, "Acidic breath Jutsu!"

The air began to fill with a heavy green smoke as well. As it touched the walls, ceiling, and floor it corroded them. Kenji moved through the mist, narrowly dodging the breath attack. Kenji moved through the mist and had gotten behind the commander. As he was about to strike the commander grabbed Kenji's arm and through him against the wall, which he followed up with by piercing I with several shuriken. Kenji's body was then replaced with a chuck of stone. The man looked around the room and all he saw was some crates filled with supplies, of course the mist was still thick.

He searched around and he believed that Kenji had fled. He went back to gathering supplies. When he had grabbed the last of what he was getting he chuckled. As he put it into the bag that he was filling he suddenly felt something warm dripping from his chest onto his hands. He looked down and saw a kunai had pierced through him. He looked behind him and saw Kenji looking in his face. Kenji was glaring, then took a jump back, then sprang back forward kicking the commander against the wall.

The commander laid there bleeding, but asked Kenji, "But how? Where did you come from?"

Kenji smirked with a cold stare, "I can't believe that you didn't notice that there was one crate more than usual. It was my genjutsu and you fell for it the moment you looked into my eyes after my substitution went off. I guess that means we were successful in taking the fortress."

"Not quite!" The commander yelled rolling over to reveal paper bombs. They had begun their slight delay before detonating

Kenji ran down the hall, but was too late as the explosion sent him flying back into the main courtyard of the fortress. Mendari Sensei and the others managed to clean up the rest of the enemy targets as he landed inches from Kurenai's feet. Mendari Sensei grabbed him and they left the Fortress as the main forces got there to claim it as a new forward operating base.

When Kenji snapped to he realized that with the instability that they had right now, they should expect an attack from within. Someone in the village was going to be the one to betray it, it only made sense to Kenji, who had helped in the taking over of many bases during the third war. Kenji could only think of one person who would try destroying the village from within now. Danzo, Kenji thought gritting his teeth.

Unfortunately Kenji had no proof, only conjecture. Kenji kept it to himself and waited to see what would happen. He continued his patrol hoping that he was wrong and that things would turn out better. However, Kenji knew better, he had a nose for danger and knew that things were going to get worse before they got better.
