Theme Song

You're on your journey with your friends from the start (shows the group walking down a road together laughing)
There will be bonding and broken hearts (Owen puts his arm over Brooklyn's shoulder)
The power inside will make us strive... (Charizard starts to Mega Evolve)
For greatness! (Split screen of Owen at the Kalos League and Daniel and Brooklyn at the Grand Festival)
Put in the work and you will go far (Haunter evolves, Gengar's face is covered in shadows and she throws a Shadow Ball at the camera)
But what happens when we're torn apart? (Ariel and Blaziken look up at the moon)
A threat will rise, but we'll realize (Frank and Dragonite squaring off with Owen and Charizard)
We can do it together... Pokemon! (Group stands together with their Pokemon)

Wow, we're already at Chapter 50, and there are only about thirty more chapters left in the story! Last chapter, Owen and Ariel lost their double battle against Catherine, but they found out their first Pokemon are the children of Catherine's Charizard and Blaziken. Now, the mother will be telling her children and Owen's friends about her past, which is pretty interesting, to say the least. Now let's get going!

Defender31415: His dad will be introduced some time soon, but the plot wouldn't change if he wasn't introduced, so there is a possibility that he just doesn't make an appearance

MCMXCV: She'll warm up a lot quicker than some might think, and you never know about their father. I may or may not have him in the story, so I don't really know what his roll could be

Elodus: Thanks, and it's good to hear from you again! I'm glad you liked the chapters, and I'm hoping to keep it up for the rest of the story

Owen and Ariel waited in the entertainment room while Catherine was searching through her bedroom for something she deemed important, and the twins looked at their Pokemon. Charizard and Blaziken were sitting on the other end of the room and talking with their parents, who looked elated to see their children after years of no communication.

"That was a great battle," Eddy told the twins while he played with some of Owen's other Pokemon. "Hey, where's your sixth Kalos Pokemon?" the eight year old asked worriedly as he couldn't find the last Pokemon, making Owen laugh while everyone began searching for either Hawlucha or Tyrantrum.

"I completely forgot to tell you guys this," Owen said as he took Slurpuff's Pokeball off his belt. He released the fairy type from the spherical device, and Owen's five Kalosian Pokemon gathered around while their trainer introduced Slurpuff. "Everyone, this is Slurpuff. We met her when some hunters tried capturing and selling her," Owen told his companions and Pokemon.

The Pokemon already knew about how Owen met Slurpuff, but they didn't know that she had one, joined them and two, helped him take down the hunters.

"Slurpuff, say hi to everyone," Owen instructed. The fairy type looked around at her teammates, who were all smiling and waving at her, but she began to hiss at them before hopping onto Owen's head, making the trainers laugh while Owen's Pokemon glared at Slurpuff. Chespin attempted to extend his arm towards Slurpuff, but the fairy type growled at him, thinking she was protecting Owen.

"I found it!" Catherine exclaimed from her bedroom. The woman hurried over to her children and sat in-between them before opening a book. The four other trainers gathered around and looked at the book, which had pictures of Catherine and her Pokemon smiling at the camera, and there were little notes written.

"What is this?" Owen asked while Chespin jumped onto his lap. Seeing this as an attempted attack on Owen, Slurpuff jumped off her trainer's head and tackled Chespin onto the ground, and the two began to roll around and punch each other, but the fighting was stopped by Haunter, who used her large hands to hold the Pokemon away from each other. "Thanks, Haunter," Owen said to the ghost, who nodded with a smile.

"I carried this around with me when I traveled through Kalos when I was younger. I took pictures of everywhere I visited and wrote some notes about how my travels went," Catherine answered as she continued to look down at her journal.

"You look a lot like Ariel," Cindy pointed out while looking at some of the pictures, which made Catherine smile while Ariel groaned. Catherine quickly flipped to the back of the book before turning back a few pages, and she nearly jumped out of her seat when she found what she was looking for.

"You asked why I knew you'd both pick Charizard and Blaziken, right?" Catherine asked Ariel while covering the pages in her journal. The fifteen year old nodded, causing her mother to shove the journal in her face. "Look, that's you and Owen with Amber and Flint," the woman said before wiping her eyes at the memory. Ariel looked down in shock before glancing to see her mother's Pokemon smiling at her and Owen.

"I don't get it, why would that have made us choose the way we did?" Owen inquired curiously.

"Even though babies are too young to remember, they can still form special bonds with Pokemon, and it can subconsciously carry over into adulthood," Eddy answered before Catherine could open her mouth.

"He's right. But that's not the only reason you two picked fire types," Catherine stated as she began to flip through her journal once again. She stopped when a large picture of her standing with four other people covered an entire page. "This was taken the first day I was a member of the Elite 4," the woman said while thinking of that special day. Amber and Flint walked over to the group and cheered when they saw that picture, and the others stared in shock.

"Wait, you were a member of the Elite 4?" Daniel asked in disbelief. The woman nodded at the question and continued looking down at the picture. The four people standing with her weren't current members of the Elite 4, but they were all incredibly young.

"Why was everyone in the Elite 4 so young?" Owen asked as all of his Pokemon stared at the picture and then up at Catherine.

"I don't know, to be honest. But that was probably the strongest Elite 4 there ever was. No trainer ever managed to beat one of our Pokemon for three years, so I think that says enough about our skill." The woman slowly turned through the next few pages, which were pictures of Owen and Ariel while they lived with their stepparents, and then there pictures of them competing in leagues.

The two teens looked at their mother, who smiled and took a deep breath in an attempt to keep her composure.

"I made sure to watch every single one of your battles when they were on TV. I didn't miss any of them," she said while hugging them both. Ariel attempted to pull away from her mother's embrace, but she stopped trying to rebel.

"So how old were you when you joined the Elite 4?" Cindy asked, still in awe of Owen's mother's accomplishments.

"Fourteen, I think. Either that or thirteen, but I quit after I turned seventeen," she answered.

"Why is that?" Brooklyn quizzed.

"Well, I was pregnant with these two, and I wasn't in shape to keep battling and practicing, which sucks because I won the tournament to become the Champion of Kalos," Catherine informed the younger kids. Amber and Flint nodded at the announcement, remembering every bit of the tournament.

"What type did you specialize in?" Daniel asked. Catherine simply stood up and grabbed her four other Pokeballs, releasing all of the Pokemon. A Camerupt, Darmanitan, Pyroar, and Magcargo appeared alongside Amber and Flint, answering Daniel's question.

"That's why you two were bound to choose Charizard and Blaziken. You have a natural connection with fire types, so I figured I'd give you a leg up on the competition by breeding a starter Pokemon for both of you."

Owen and Ariel looked at Charizard and Blaziken, who were both smiling at Catherine's plan, and the starters sat down next to their trainers.

"That's incredible! I can't believe this turned out just like you thought it would!" Brooklyn exclaimed. Charizard and Blaziken nodded along with their trainers, who were shocked by their mother's actions, which they were grateful for.

"Well, there was definitely a lot of luck involved, but I guess it all turned out for the best," Catherine said while looking at her children and their Pokemon before she went into her bedroom to put her journal away. Once she walked back into the room, the TV displayed a video of the Laverre City Contest Hall, making Daniel and Brooklyn look at their watches.

"It's getting pretty late and the contest starts early tomorrow, so we've got to get going. Thank you for having us, Mrs. Trainem," Brooklyn said to her boyfriend's mom as she and Daniel began to walk out of the house. Catherine waved at the teens as Eddy and Cindy followed, and Owen and Ariel rose from the couch.

"I think it'd be a good idea for you two to stay here for a little while and lay low. I saw the announcement those Team Grim people made yesterday, and they're pushing for people to report you to the police."

"Wait, there was another announcement?" Ariel questioned, which was answered with a solemn nod from Catherine. The teen fell back on the couch and sighed angrily before nodding at her mother's suggestion.

"I guess I'll stay here too, but there's no way I'm missing the contest tomorrow," Owen informed his mother adamantly, making the woman smile proudly.

"That's fine, just don't get into any trouble when you go." With that, the three family members spent the night together, catching up on their childhoods and how much Catherine had missed the children before they went to sleep, just like a normal family.

Damn, I thought that was going to be way better, but I still think it turned out pretty well. Anyways, it was revealed that Catherine was a member of the Elite 4 and she was even in line to become Champion before having Owen and Ariel (at seventeen!), which led to her retirement. Next chapter will be the Laverre City Contest, and that's about it. Till next time, peace out.

Next Chapter: "Laverre City Contest": Brooklyn and Daniel compete in the Laverre City Contest with their sights set on winning their second and third ribbons respectively. Will either coordinator be able to claim victory?
