Kate and Derek arrived at Beacon Hills High School. Kate was hurriedly leading the way, but it was Derek who was following behind slowly, "What's wrong?" Kate asked him.
"I don't know about this." Derek said stopping them in the tunnel, "I'm not supposed to show the vault to anyone outside my family."
Kate gave him a thoughtful look, "Come on, we talked about this."
"Yeah, but, how do you even know about the vault?" Derek knew his memory was missing, but he still wasn't sure about a lot of the things she was saying.
"Because you told me. Don't you remember?" She asked him, of course she knew he didn't remember, but Derek looked like he was getting ready to back out "Tell me you remember this." Kate said leaning in to kiss him. Derek got a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach when her lips landed on his, it wasn't the same warm feeling he should have, it was different, it was wrong.
He pulled back and she frowned at him, "Come on Derek, we get inside the vault. We get the Triskelion. And then everything goes back to normal."
"That's all you want?" Derek asked her.
"That's all we need." She told him.
He gave her a hesitant smile and led Kate to the Beacon Hills High School sign. He inserted his claws into the metal gate on the side of the brick sign and gave it a twist. The sign slid back revealing a staircase leading underground.
"Why would your family build a vault under a high school?" Kate questioned
"The vault was here first." Derek stated with a smirk.
…
Derek was already searching for the disk, while Kate was examining a metal safe that stood in the center of the vault.
"Not that." Derek told her holding up the disk.
"This is it?" Kate asked curiously, "You're sure?"
"Yeah." Derek said confidently.
"It doesn't look like much." She noted as she inspected it in her hand.
"That's 'cause it isn't." A new voice echoed though the vault. Both Derek and Kate turned to see Peter entering the vault.
"Uncle Peter?" Derek asked confused as to why his uncle looked so much older than he remembered.
"quite the elaborate scheme you have here, Kate." Peter said ignoring his confused nephew, "Two countries, Aztec temples, Derek returned to a teenager. One that trusted you. One that loved you." He gloated, "all this complication just to gain access to our vault. Just to get your hands on that little piece of hunk. Turn it over." He said folding his arms, "Go ahead. There's a scrape on the back where it used to say 'made in china' "
"You're lying." Kate said grinding her teeth.
"I admit I have a tendency to exaggerate things." Peter confessed prowling around her in a circle like a predator, "But in this case the truth is so much more fun." He said as he watched Kate's fall, "Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart, that little pedant is just the physical object to focus on. It's training wheels. Talia used it to teach Laura. I tried to use it to teach Derek."
Just then a roar echoed through the vault and Derek looked around worriedly.
"Is this real?" Kate questioned Derek, "Tell me if this is real." She demanded grabbing his arm.
"Didn't you hear that?" Derek countered back, "That was Scott, I just heard Scott."
…
Stiles, Lydia and Azalea all arrived at the school running through the tunnel, they stopped when they heard Scotts roar.
"You seriously need to find something better than a baseball bat." Lydia told Stiles when she noticed it in his hand.
"I think we should just leave that to her." Stiles said nodding his head in Azalea's direction.
Her eyes were pitch black and her skin was practically humming with the force of the power running through her veins in that moment. When she realized that Kate had been in the same house as her baby, and then had the offending thought enter her mind of what if she had left Juno with Derek when she went to make her bottle? She had slipped into a pit of absolute homicidal rage and she was nowhere near coming out of it.
When they reached the others, Scott, Malia and Kira were all down on the ground in front of what Azalea immediately recognized as a berserker. The Berserker swung down at them and Azalea let out a savage scream shoving her hands in their direction a heavy force of energy tossing them back into the lockers.
She moved forward putting the rest of her pack behind her she rolled her shoulders ready to find out what happened when an unstoppable object meets and unmovable force.
…
"Tell me!" Kate yelled the sound of her voice was drowned out by the sound of Azalea's though and Derek moving on instinct ripped his arm out of her grasp and ran for the door, "I don't know and I don't care!"
Peter let out a tisk and shook his head, "She was the factor you left out of your brilliant little plan Kate."
…
Azalea was holding them back successfully but it was only a matter of time before she would run out of energy she doesn't make it a habit to ingest demon blood so she's running only on what stays in her system and she was running out of steam fast.
Her eyes were flickering back and forth and she seemed to be getting dazed, Scott was fighting to pull himself back up because he knew if she kept it up she could end up seriously hurt when Derek showed up fifteen years old against a berserker and he was actually forcing them back.
Everytime the berserkers landed a hard shot there was a glimpse of real Derek that would flash through if only for a second. After one particularly forceful hit to the jaw Derek slumped over into his self and the black had officially faded from Azalea's gaze she was swaying on her feet and the berserkers were coming back at them when they heard a loud growl fill the air.
Kate calling her pets back to her side.
They obeyed their masters command and fled Derek turned back to face the rest of the group, Azalea took in his broad shoulders and stubble and sighed in relief "Derek," She breathed as the world started to spin.
Derek heard her heartbeat bottom out and lunged forward to grab her before she hit the ground. "Derek.." Scott called hesitantly. Derek lifted his head to look at him a disturbed look covering his face.
His eyes glowed yellow.
