Cinderheart's POV
Struggling with my crutches, I slowly make my way through the forest back to my cabin. Surrounding me are Firestar and Jayfeather, making sure I don't trip and break my other leg, and on my other side are Hollyleaf, Poppyfrost, and Honeyfern. My closest friends.
"That's it, good job, Cindy," Honeyfern smiles. I huff, struggling a little with every step. I haven't walked this long for a really long time.
Finally, I reach the ThunderCabin, surprised to see it just as I remember it was a few days ago. Exactly the same. My pillow is still there, as is my flip flop that I carelessly tossed on the ground… even the book I was reading is still on my bed.
I'm actually surprised I even remember all this.
"Well, take care, and don't forget to see Jayfeather and Leafpool if you start to feel any strange pain or sickness," Firestar says. "All right?"
"Thank you, Firestar," I reply with a smile. He and Jayfeather leave as I sit down on my bed. Hollyleaf and Honeyfern sit on either side of me, with Poppyfrost right in front of me as she holds on to the bunk above me.
"So, what happened?" asks Honeyfern right away. "How much do you remember?"
"Tell everything!" Hollyleaf says.
I chuckle a little. "Well, right after I fell, I don't remember much. Just that it really hurt, and I woke up in a hospital. Leafpool was there. She had requested to come to the hospital."
Poppyfrost nods, signaling for me to go on.
"There's not much more to tell," I say, with a slight laugh. "I mean, I ate food, got my crutches, and then came here."
"I'm just glad you're back," murmurs Hollyleaf. I nod, tears growing on my eyes.
"And the last day of camp is going to be the best," I smile.
Poppyfrost and Honeyfern turn to me. "What?!"
Hollyleaf looks at them. "Don't you two keep track? Tomorrow is the last full day of camp!"
"Already?" Poppyfrost frowns.
"But I- it only- I can't-" Honeyfern stutters.
I shrug my shoulders.
"In that case, let's go and let's enjoy camp while we still can." And with that, I pick up my crutches and leave my cabin to head to the Camp Tree.
Ashfur's POV
I've got it all planned out.
I don't care if I'm not really supposed to ask anyone to the dance. I don't care. I'm in love with Squirrelflight, and I need to go with her to the dance. I know Brambleclaw won't ask her, since counselors technically can't. But still, I need to protect her from people like Brambleclaw.
After dinner is over, I ask Brambleclaw to take the boys back to their cabins to get ready for whatever we're doing tonight. Then, I find Squirrelflight at the girls' table. Sorreltail is taking them back to the cabins while Squirrelflight stays and cleans the table.
Once I walk up to her, Squirrelflight smiles. "Hi, Ashfur. Could you help me wash the table?"
I smile, ignoring her request. Nope, I'm not going to clean anything.
"Squirrelflight," I say, hugging her from behind. She turns to look at me, her face burned from the sun. Let's just say that Squirrelflight doesn't tan, but instead, burns.
"Ashfur…" she says. "I'm a little busy right now. So please either help me or leave."
I just stand still with a smile on my face. "You wouldn't make me leave, would you?"
She looks at me, her green eyes narrowed and serious. "Ashfur, I'm not kidding. Help me or leave."
I step away from her. "Finish cleaning that later. Come with me. I… I have to ask you something."
Squirrelflight raises her eyebrows, but she nods. "Fine. But make it quick."
My heart beats faster as I walk out of the cafeteria with her following me. She wouldn't say no… she can't say no… she has to say yes…
Outside the cafeteria, I turn to face her.
"Squirrelflight, will you please be my date to the last dance?"
She freezes in place. Opening her mouth, she tries to respond, but can't. Suddenly, she bursts out, "mosquito!" and slaps my face.
"I'm sorry about that," she breathes. Looking away, she starts to laugh. "It's just… since when has this become a high school prom invitation? Since when has camp become high school?"
I'm sort of confused right now.
"But, since you're the first one who's asked me, I guess… I have to say yes." She hugs me, and then dashes away, without a goodbye or anything.
I thought she'd be happier…
Tigerstar's POV
"Tigerstar… I think we should just forget about the whole argument with you and Firestar," suggests Snowtuft, tossing a cookie into his mouth. "We can apologize and become chefs at the camp."
"Camp's over tomorrow," I say, flipping through my calendar of social events. Because of course, a villain must be social, too. I learned this from Hawkfrost. Us villains help each other often.
"But the National Meeting of Evil Villains takes place the day after camp ends and I can't miss it!" wails Brokentail.
"Neither can I," I remind him, tossing the calendar in his face. "We'll strike before the end of camp. Be ready at all times."
"Sir, that means it must be either tonight, tomorrow, or the next morning," Thistleclaw says.
"No way will we strike in the morning. I need my beauty sleep," yawns Hawkfrost, combing his shoulder-length brown hair.
Thistleclaw rolls his eyes, but turns back to me. "Sir?"
"What?" I ask angrily. "We'll strike…"
I whisper the whole plan to him. Honestly, do I have to work with people who are this dumb sometimes? How many times do I have to repeat the plan?
Firestar will be very sorry...
Thanks to WolfFrostTheMighty for the AshXSquirrel idea!
If you can't tell, this story will be coming to an end somewhere in the next several chapters. Yes, sadly, camp is almost over... but the story doesn't end there! ;)
*ahem* Well, stay tuned for the next update! And don't forget to leave a review! ~Silverblaze
