Chapter 52: Say WHAT?!
Rey took his leave, a smirk forming on his face as he left the room to go back to his own. Man I love doing this stuff, he chuckled to himself.
Before they knew it, it was 8 o'clock and everyone was ready to go out. Elena put on a dark-blue jeans skirt, combat boots, and a butterfly shaped halter top. She was the first to start waiting in the lobby, wondering when Rey would get there. The next thing she knew, Dave was standing across the room for her dressed for a night out. She looked to see him in a dark-red button shirt, black pants and shoes. Although she was mad at him...it was hard not to stare. Dave could've said the same thing about Elena.
"Going out tonight?" Dave asked, not even looking at her.
"Yes I am actually. Gonna get mad at me for that too?" Elena replied. Dave just scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"With Stacy?" he added.
"No, I'm going out with Rey." Elena told him. Dave then turned to look at her, wondering if he had heard her right.
"You're going out with Rey?" he asked, while she just nodded. Damnit Rey! Dave cursed to himself. "Well so am I."
Elena now looked at him, "What do you mean? He said–"
"Yeah, and it seems he forgot to mention something to both of us," he told her. Elena started pouting, wondering what she could do about it.
"Well I'm going out tonight, so you can stay here or join us," she stated.
"Wow, that's very kind of you," Dave replied sarcastically.
"If you happen to join us, keep your attitude here, got it?" Elena warned.
"You talkin' to me?" Dave asked with a brow raised.
"I don't see anyone else here," Elena said, almost wanting to laugh, but did everything she could not to. Dave wanted to chuckle as well, but he had to remember he was angry with her. "Anyways, I mean that obviously Rey did this on purpose and he wants to have a good time. Therefore I'm not going to be the one to ruin it for him."
Dave scoffed again and mumbled a 'Whatever' under his breath. Elena was ready to smack the hell out of him, but they saw Rey coming their way. "Hey guys!" he greeted, acting as if this wasn't a plan of his. "Ready to go?"
"Ready when you are Mr. 619," Elena replied with a smile, linking arms with him.
"How about you Holmes?" Rey asked turning to Dave.
"Yeah let's go have fun," he answered, attempting to smile. The three of them walked out, two of them not very happy.
The car ride to the club was very quiet, and it freaked Rey out. "So uh...you guys looking forward to Friday?" he asked them.
Elena was the first to answer, "Yeah actually. But you guys should probably head to the arena without me."
"Why's that?" Rey inquired.
"I have a meeting with Mr. McMahon at five to discuss whether or not I'm going to RAW. In fact I'm heading to tomorrow night's show to get a feel for it to help me make the decision I haven't made yet," Elena stated, emphasizing the last few words.
"You're going over there tomorrow?" Dave asked, "Alone?"
"Stacy's coming with me since she's more associated with it than I am," Elena told him.
"Well that sounds cool, I'll bet you're nervous huh?" Rey chuckled.
"Yeah, but I think it'll be really exciting too. I mean it's gonna be extreme, and I have a match against Mickie James. I get goose bumps thinking about it!" Elena laughed excitedly.
"You'll probably get more than goose bumps when you actually get there," Dave added irritably.
Elena turned to face him, a scowl on her face. "You know what? You may just be right Dave, but all I know is that if I get a few bruises, it'll be because I fought with everything I had. Who knows? Maybe it'll be a good experience for me," she said smugly.
"You do realize that just about all the freaks in this business are on RAW," Dave told her.
"I'm quite aware of that, but I'm sure they won't throw a hissy fit like some people I know," Elena replied.
"So! We're here! Let's go in!" Rey intervened, second guessing the great plan he thought he had. The three superstars went into the dark and loud club, grabbing an open table. "Anybody want something to drink?" Rey offered.
"I'm just gonna have water," Elena told him.
"You sure you don't want some wine? Beer? Vodka? You seem to enjoy it," Dave said.
Elena turned to look at him, a darker scowl on her face than he had ever seen. Before she could say anything, Rey jumped in. "You both need to calm down. I wanted to come out and have a good time with my best friends. Now I don't know what's going on, but can it be put on hold for a few hours? Please?" he begged.
Elena simply nodded, while Dave did the same. Elena offered to go get the drinks, using any excuse she could to get away from Dave. I can't believe he said that. I can't believe he SAID that! She cursed mentally before getting the drinks and collecting herself before returning to the table. "Here we are," she said putting them all on the table.
"So you still stuck with water?" Dave inquired, taking a swig of his beer.
"Actually yes. But you know what? I'm not all that thirsty anymore. You can have it!" Elena exclaimed tossing the water in his face. "I'm outta here." Elena jumped up and stormed out of the club.
"Elena!" Rey called out, and turned to a cursing Dave. "What the hell is your problem ese?" Rey shouted glaring at Dave.
"What's yours? I didn't do anything!" Dave yelled back.
"Whatever man, I'm going after her. Maybe by the time we get back you'll have that stick out of your ass!" Rey bellowed as he ran after his friend. Dave watched him run, wondering himself what has gotten into him.
"Elena! Elena where are you?" Rey called out when he got to the sidewalk. He looked left and right and he didn't see her. "Oh no. This isn't good," he panted. He pulled out his cell phone to try and call her, but she ignored him. "Damnit," Rey cursed and tried Dave's number. He heard Dave answer but didn't give him a chance to respond. "Dave, she's gone, I don't know where she went." Rey heard nothing on the other line, until he heard the club door burst open to see Dave coming towards him.
"Where is she?" Dave asked him.
"I don't know. I came out here and I didn't see where she went," Rey replied. "I mean maybe she's walking back to the hotel but that's quite a walk by herself."
"All right, you go down that way, I'll head this way. Call me if you see her all right?" Rey nodded in agreement and started jogging down the sidewalk, as Dave went in the opposite direction.
Dave ran down the sidewalk, calling her on the phone and her name out loud. When she refused to answer him by either call for at least three blocks, Dave stopped running, cursing to himself. He didn't know what to do, and kicked a wall in frustration. When she wouldn't answer his calls, he started to think who she would answer. He looked down his contact list to find Kenny's number, and pushed 'Send'.
He heard the phone ringing before Kenny answered. "Hello?"
"Hey Kenny, it's Dave." he replied.
"Oh...hey Dave," Kenny answered, remembering the last time he spoke to Elena, and what she had told them. "What can I do for you?"
"Well I can't get a hold of Elena. I was wondering if you could call her and let me know she's okay." Dave said.
"What do you mean? What happened?" Kenny asked in sudden concern for his little sister.
"She just won't answer my calls that's all, and I want to make sure she's all right." he told him, forgetting that he'd have to explain the fight to Kenny.
"Why won't she answer your calls? Are you guys fighting?" Kenny wondered, not liking where this was heading. Dave heaved a heavy sigh before explaining to Kenny everything since Elena had said she might be going to RAW, all the way to what had just taken place.
When he was done, he could hear Kenny fuming, "You actually said that to her? What the hell is wrong with you? Are you out of your fucking mind?" he roared.
"Listen, I know I was wrong but I really need you to–" Dave was cut off by a very pissed Kenny Kovac.
"I swear to god Dave I am sick of this! You keep acting like such an ass to her and she still forgives you and comes back to you! I'm going to call her right now, but when I'm done talking to her, you and I have more talking to do." Kenny hung up on him before Dave could say a word.
Dave knew he deserved it, but he wasn't concerned with what Kenny thought of him, he just wanted to know where Elena was.
Once Kenny hung up on Dave he quickly called Elena, trying to take a calming breath while doing so. "Hello?" a sniffly voice answered.
"Are you okay?" Kenny asked hurriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine, what's up?" she replied, wiping at her eyes.
"Elena, Dave just called me. I know what's been going on," Kenny told her.
"Oh god," Elena cried.
"When he told me he couldn't get a hold of you I wanted to call you and make sure that you were all right. But honestly, I'm coming down there to whoop his sorry ass!" Kenny shouted. Elena chuckled, still wiping her eyes, hearing the calming sigh from her brother. "Seriously girl, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm going to RAW tomorrow, so that'll help me forget this whole thing. I just...I just don't understand why he's being this way." Elena said.
"Squirt, I think it's because he doesn't want you to go." Kenny gently stated. "I mean think about it, he knows that if you go, you'll be leaving him behind and he won't be able to be with you. I think now he's acting like this to try and make it easier on himself or something like that."
"Maybe you're right, but why does he think being an asshole will make things easier?" Elena asked him. "I swear, men have no idea how to handle emotions."
"Duh, that's a girls' job," Kenny chuckled, only to get a threat from his little sister. "Well can you tell me where you are so I can call the asshole back and let him know?"
"I'd say don't bother, but I don't want Rey to worry. I caught a cab back to the hotel, I'm on my way back now." she said.
"Okay, well I'm glad you're okay. Now I'm gonna have a little talk with Dave." Kenny growled, ready to say a few more choice words.
"Whatever you need to do Kenny, just don't hurt his ego too bad," Elena chuckled.
"I can't make any promises," Kenny replied. "I'll give you a call tomorrow, okay?" Elena agreed and let him go, wondering what he was going to say to Dave. Kenny dialed Dave's number and heard it ring once before Dave answered. "I just spoke to her, she's heading back to the hotel in a cab. She's fine."
Dave let out a breath he had been holding, "Great, I'm glad she's okay. Rey's here with me, so we'll head back to the hotel. I appreciate you letting me know Kenny."
"That's all well and good Dave, but I'm not done speaking with you. I don't want you going to see Elena unless it's down on your knees begging. I don't want you hurting her to save your ego about Elena possibly leaving for RAW. If she does happen to go to RAW, do you really want the last few days you spent together to be like this? Because I know Elena doesn't and I hate hearing her cry and get hurt. So you had better straighten up or Scott and I are coming down there and kicking your ass. Have a nice night." Kenny hung up the phone, feeling good about sticking up for his sister, knowing that he had to tell Scott about it.
Dave on the other hand was sitting there speechless, with Rey asking what Kenny had said. "Well he and Scott are gonna kick my ass if I don't make up with Elena." he said as a short summary.
"Well I'll be helping them if you don't get your act together. Come on let's head back to the hotel," Rey suggested as they headed back to the car. Dave silently followed, his hand rubbing his forehead. Rey looked over at him, "You okay man?"
"I just...I just can't believe how stupid I've been." Dave replied quietly.
"Well I'm sure you'll find some way to have her forgive you, you've done it before. But I think you've got your work cut out for you this time." Rey told him. Dave simply nodded, not really in the mood to talk anymore.
