Chapter 54 – Changes and Renovations

Carlisle:

We just got to Charlie's house along with Alice, Jake and Seth. Nathan is at home doing homework. Alice just went out of the room with Sue to talk to Charlie about designs. They went downstairs to the kitchen.

"Dad, you have to stop her," Bella said to me.

"Stop who," I asked, although I had a feeling I knew who it was.

"Alice…she is trying to talk Charlie into adding on to my room and make it bigger for Sue. She has Sue liking the idea. This is never going to fly. She was just supposed to design the room not build an addition to the house," Bella said flaring with anger.

"Now Bella, I'm sure Charlie will not go for that," I said trying to reassure her.

"Yes Charlie, come here and I'll show you what I am talking about," Alice said as Charlie and Sue trailed behind her.

"Charlie, this will really be nice. She is adding a balcony or deck onto the room that we can have access to the outside. I think it would be wonderful to sit out at night in the summer evenings," Sue said with excitement.

"What? Charlie doesn't sit out at night," Bella said shaking her head.

"Well, now Bells, I don't think you have any say in this since you completely destroyed Sue's office," Charlie said.

"Sue's office? What about my room," Bella said getting in his face.

"Bella, settle down," I cautioned her.

"You don't need to add on, just fix the room," Bella said.

"Seems like you didn't like the way the room was and you fixed it to your liking. Now you might have done us a favor so we can make a nice improvement," Charlie said.

"Who's paying for that?" Bella asked him.

"Yeah, who is," Jake asked.

"I assume Carlisle…he said he would take care of things," Sue said.

"Listen Sue, he said he would pay for the damages and fix the room…not build a new house for you," Bella said sarcastically.

"Bella, calm down," I said to her.

"Yeah Bella, calm down when talking to my mom," Seth said.

"Butt out Seth," Bella said.

"You're getting a little too worked up Bells, and I'm still not over the mess you caused," Charlie said.

"Are you going to pay for the addition Carlisle," Sue asked me.

"Of course he is, silly. Daddy will take care of everything," Alice said to Sue. That was unexpected.

"Well, I said I would take care of the damages," I said.

"There, you see. Daddy will pay for it all. No worries, Sue and Charlie," Alice said.

"Earth to Alice…dad didn't say he would pay for the addition. He just said he would pay for the damages. You don't need an addition and quit saying Dad will pay for it all," Bella said to Alice.

"Oh Bella, don't be such a prude," Alice said to her.

"A prude? You have to be kidding…Dad…are you going to stand there and let her dictate to you what you are paying for," Bella shouted at me while turning to face me.

"I think we all need to take a step back and take a breather on this. I think enough has been said tonight and we will talk about it later. We all need to think this through, but I don't see what harm adding a deck to the room would do," I said.

"The harm would be lightening your pocket…do you know how much that will cost?" Bella said to me.

"Not much more than replacing the bay window," Alice said.

"About that, how in the world did you push that window out, Bells," Charlie asked looking at her.

"Um…it was…uh…," Bella stumbled.

"It is one of those things we can't talk about," Sue said staving off the question.

"Yeah, but how…," Charlie added.

"Just think, a nice deck with stairs down to the ground and we could put French doors in the room for the access to the deck and you could open them on nice summer days and get some fresh air," Alice prattled on.

Thank goodness she did since it got Charlie interested in the room again and he let the bay window incident go by the wayside for the time being. Sue added some thoughts to the deck and Alice carried on also.

"Hmmm, got out of that one," Jake said walking up to me and Bella and chuckling.

"Shut up Jake," Bella said to him.

"Don't start, Jacob," I warned him.

"You have to admit, Alice saved you're aa…you're butt," Jake said to Bella catching himself.

"Like I said, shut up, Jake," Bella said to him as he laughed along with Seth.

Next day:

Carlisle:

I am just pulling into the garage from the hospital and it was another bad day at the hospital. I am not in a good mood but I have to push it away and not take it out on my family. I can hear Esme and the others in the kitchen. I am going to put the hospital behind me.

"Hello darling, how was your day," Esme said as she greeted me.

"Awful," I replied.

"Oh no, what happened," Esme asked.

"Hi Dad," Jake, Seth and Nathan said as they entered the kitchen from the upstairs.

"Hi boys, how was school," I asked them.

"Lousy," they replied.

"How so," I asked.

"We were there," Jake replied.

"There are children in the world who would love to go to school every day," I said to him.

"Well where are they? They can take my place anytime," Jake said.

"You boys," Esme said shaking her head at them.

"Hi Dad," Bella and Edward said coming in from the cottage.

"Did you go to Charlie's today," I asked.

"No, they were both at work," Bella said.

"Bella, have you made things right with Charlie yet," I asked.

"No, why would I?" Bella asked.

"Because you were wrong and you need to straighten this out," I said to her.

"What for? I'm done with them both after we get their house rebuilt for them, thanks to Alice," Bella said with sarcasm.

"I heard that," Alice said coming down the stairs with Jasper.

"Make things right with Charlie," I said with firmness.

"I don't want to," Bella said.

"What did you say," I asked spinning around to confront her.

"I said I don't want to and I'm not going to, so stop telling me to make up with him," Bella said.

"Love, Dad has a point. You don't want hard feelings with Charlie," Edward said to her.

"He hasn't said much to me anyway," Bella said.

"Can you blame him," Jake said.

"Yes, he let her get rid of my room and mom's curtains," Bella said.

"You and those dingy curtains," Alice said flippantly.

"You and your remodeling crap," Bella said smartly to her.

"That's enough. This had gone on too long. Make things right with Charlie and I don't want to hear any back talk about it," I said and went up to take a shower. I heard Bella sigh loudly as I entered our room.

Next day:

Esme in Kitchen:

"Come on Bella, the boys will be home from school soon," I said to Bella as we arrived home from Charlie's.

"How many samples does Alice need to get for the house," Bella asked.

"You know your sister, she always go overboard," I said.

"Overboard isn't the half of it. She's out picking up more samples and she has Edward, Jasper and Emmett running around picking things up also. The house will be as big as this one by the time she gets done with it," Bella said.

"She can be excessive," I said.

"Mom, she is excessive," Bella said.

"Come on, let's go into the den and pick out some landscape for the flower garden Alice has planned," I said walking into the den off the kitchen.

"Flower garden? Come on," Bella moaned.

We spent about a half hour pouring over gardening books and plants and flowers and had made some nice selections. Bella picked out flowers that Renee used to love. I don't know how this is going to go over, but the flowers did go well with the landscape and yard. As we were winding up, we heard tires screeching in the garage. We both looked at one another and then the kitchen door to the garage burst open with Alice quickly running in with her arms full of materials. She ran to the living room and plopped them down on the couch. She then turned to head up the stairs.

"No, no, no, no, no," Alice said hurrying to the stairs.

"Alice, what's wrong" I asked.

"Momma, where's Jazzy," Alice asked as she got to the stairs.

"He's still out with Edward and Emmett doing your running around," Bella said to her.

"Good, he shouldn't be here," Alice said once again about to make her way up the stairs.

Just then, we heard another car stop quickly in the garage and the door slam. Alice looked pensive and was about to flash up the stairs…

"Oh no…I have to go," Alice said as the kitchen door burst open a second time.

"Mary Alice Cullen, don't you dare make another move up those stairs, Young Lady," Carlisle shouted to her.

"Daddy…wait," Alice squeaked.

"Come over here," Carlisle demanded of her.

"No…I didn't mean it," Alice mumbled and flashed up a few steps.

"Stop right there," Carlisle called to her. Alice hesitated, knowing she better not go any further.

"Please," Alice called to him.

"I said, come here," Carlisle said again.

"Carlisle, what happened," I asked.

"Yeah, what happened," Bella echoed.

"Yes Alice, tell your mother and sister what happened," I said to her.

"Hey, what's up," Jake asked coming in along with Seth and Nathan.

"Alice was just going to tell us," Bella said to Jake.

"Looks like Ali's in trouble with Dad," Seth said eyeing the situation.

"Well, explain yourself Alice," I said to her again.

"Daddy…I didn't…please," Alice said and flashed to the left.

I flashed right after her and almost caught her but she jumped up and flashed backwards from me. I frowned at her and flashed to her. She waited until I was almost in front of her and flashed to the right of me. I flashed after her and almost grabbed her arm but she quickly jumped up and flashed to the left.

"Mary Alice Cullen…don't you dare flash from me again," I warned her.

"Daddy…I didn't mean for it to happen," Alice whined and flashed behind the couch right before I flashed in front of her.

"Alice, what happened," I asked again.

"What's going on," Leah asked walking in now.

Alice flashed to the bottom of the stairs and I quickly flashed halfway up. Alice stopped at the bottom and gasped seeing I was in her escape route. She quickly flashed to the other side of the room and I flashed after her but she again positioned herself behind a chair.

"Man Alice, you're in for it," Nathan said.

"I said tell them what you did," I said to her again.

"I…I…," Alice stuttered.

"Your daughter was on her cell phone while driving, and cut off an ambulance right by the hospital. The ambulance was just about to cross the intersection to enter the ambulance bay at the hospital when a bright yellow flash went through the intersection and right in front of the ambulance. The ambulance swerved but when the driver slammed on the brake, everything slid to front, including the patient. He was still strapped to the gurney and it slammed into the partition behind the driver," I explained.

"Oh yeah, you're toast," Jake said.

"And you thought ripping a study apart was bad," Bella said.

"It was," I said to her.

"Not as bad as this," Bella said.

"Did you even see the ambulance Alice?" I asked her waiting for her expression and reply.

"Um…after I went past and I heard the horn blaring at me," Alice said sheepishly.

"Come here Alice…and don't you flash from me again," I said to her sternly.

"Oomph," Alice said and flashed to the right.

I began to flash to the right, but then changed directions and flashed to the left. Alice, thinking I would flash right, flashed to the left, and ended up face to face with me.

"Ahh!" Alice shrieked.

"Come here," I said reaching out and grabbing her arm.

"I'm sorry Daddy…I…I…didn't see the ambulance," Alice said.

"How could you not see the flashing lights," I asked her.

"I didn't hear a siren," Alice said.

"That's because they turn the siren off right by the hospital," I said to her.

"Well it was their fault then by turning the siren off," Alice said to me.

"It was your fault for texting and you know better than that," I said.

I immediately turned her to the side and began applying my hand vigorously to her back side. Alice was twisting and turning, trying her best to get away from my spanking hand. She was jumping up and down and stomping in place…

WHAM! SWAT!

"OUCH! OWW…daddeeeeeeeee," Alice cried.

WHAP! SMACK! SMACK!

"OWW-OOOOOO! HURTS…OUCH!"

I continued applying a stinging standing spanking to my little Pixie, making sure I covered every inch of her naughty Pixie bottom. Alice was singing out her displeasure my hand was imparting on her. I added more and then ended her spanking.

"Now you listen to me, little one. You know better than to text and drive or to even be on your phone talking while driving. It is one of our main rules. You could have caused injury to the patient in that ambulance, and the ambulance could have turned over and hurt innocent bystanders because of you not paying attention," I scolded her.

"I-I won't do it again Daddy," Alice whined rubbing her bottom.

"I know you won't because when I get done with you after we get to my study, you will have learned a very stern lesson," I said to her.

"After we get to your study? But…but…you just spanked me," Alice said pleadingly.

"Yes I did…for flashing from me. We are not through with this discussion yet, there is more that is coming up in my study over my knee," I said propelling her toward the stairs.

"Daddeeeeeee…nooooooooooooooo," Alice whaled.

"Let's go little lady," I said walking her up the stairs.

"Man, I bet he bare butts her," Jake said shaking his head.

"You said it…yikes, I can feel it myself," Bella added.

"Yeah, and she's sore already. Shouldn't flash from Dad," Leah said.

"Come on children, let's go to the cottage," I said herding them toward the door.

"Aww, come on Mom…I wanna hear," Jake said.

"Young Man, would you want others to hear your spanking," I asked him.

"What spanking?" Jake asked.

"The one I'm going to give you if you don't move toward that door," I said pointing to the door.

"Um…yeah, let's all go to the cottage," Jake said walking to the door and holding it open for us.
