Who's Claws Are Bigger? -Chapter 51

~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~

After getting off his phone Stiles saw Avery down the hallway as she stood at her locker with a few of the guys on the lacrosse team.

Going up to her he said, "We need to talk…"

She turned her attention from one of the guys to him as she said, "Well that's a hell of a way to start the day."

Stiles glanced around at the first line lacrosse players and said, "I need to talk to her, not you."

The guys ignored him as they continued to talk and flirt with Avery one of them asked her out for that coming Friday again.

Sighing she said, "I already said I was seeing someone."

"Who?" He asked.

"Me! She's seeing me!" Stiles exclaimed looking at him.

They guys exchanged looks, "Is that a joke?"

"No, does it look like I'm kidding?" Stiles asked them, irritated and wanting them to leave so he could talk to Avery.

"He's kidding right?" Another of the guys asked looking back to Avery.

"It's a not a joke. Now go." She ordered as she pointed a finger down the hallway.

Following her command the guys all left.

"How'd you get them to do that?" He questioned, as he watched them all walk away.

"If you want guys to listen to you, you have to be assertive… and having great boobs doesn't hurt." She said with a smirk as she grabbed the last book she needed from her locker and turned to face him.

His eyes widened and he wasn't able to stop himself from looking down to her cleavage showing from the skin tight, black corset styled top with dark pink lace and detailing.

Sighing she reached forward and grabbed his chin and tilted his face up until he was looking at her again as she said, "You said we needed to talk."

"I did? Oh… umm, right. I've got bad news. I just got off the phone with my dad… Jackson retracted his statement and without it all charges were dropped against Isaac." He explained with a worried look on his face.

"Why do you look upset? That's great, that means Isaac can return to school." She said smiling as she thought of how happy Teagan would be.

"Why are you happy about it? It's bad news… he's another werewolf, from Derek's pack at our school now." He reminded her.

"So what? I am happy… I like Isaac, he's my friend." She stated.

Stiles shook his head, still uncomfortable with there being another werewolf, especially one who wasn't in control at their school.

After a few moments of silence passed Stiles said, "You were talking about me, right? When you said you were, umm… seeing someone…"

She looked at him with arched eyebrow, "No, of course not. I was talking about the guy I spend most of the weekends with."

He looked at her confused, "I really can't tell if you're joking…"

She smiled as she bit her bottom lip and watched him as he tried to figure out if this was one of her jokes.

Reaching forward she grabbed his t-shirt and pulled him closer as she pressed her lips against his.

Taken by surprise it took a few moments for him to respond her actions, but then he quickly kissed her back.

One of his hands landed on the small of her back and the other on the back of her head, as he took a step forward and deepened the kiss.

Finally pulling back she smiled at the expression on his face and said, "I was joking about the first part. Of course I meant you."

"Wait, you weren't joking about spending a lot of your weekends with another guy though?" He questioned.

"No, that part was true." She admitted as they started to head towards their class.

"Wait… who?" Stiles asked.

She looked down to the floor for a few seconds before she looked over at him and said, "Danny."

"Oh!" Stiles exclaimed relieved.

She laughed and shook her head.

After leaving the janitor's closet, Teagan was on the look out for Jackson. She finally saw him a few classes later as he walked down the hallway toward his locker to trade out books.

She quickly walked up behind him and without a word, grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the closest girl's restroom.

Jackson stood in the middle of the room and raised his eyebrows in confusion as he watched her look under all the stalls to make sure the restroom was empty. When she realized they were the only two in there, she quickly locked the door so they wouldn't be interrupted as they talked.

"You know T, if you wanted to make out with me that badly all you had to do was ask." Jackson joked smugly.

Teagan turned around to face him then punched him in the shoulder as she called out,"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Ow! What the hell, T? I was just kidding." Jackson yelled back, as he rubbed his shoulder. For her to be so tiny she still had a mean right hook.

Teagan rolled her eyes then placed her hands on her hips as she said,"No I mean, why the hell would you get the bite?"

"Who told you? Let me guess, it was Lahey." Jackson said angrily, as he folded his arms across his chest.

"It doesn't matter who told me. You should have told me Jackson." Teagan said back, then added,"No, actually I take that back cause you never should have even gotten bit to begin with. What the hell were you thinking?"

"I was thinking that I'm tired of watching everything I love slip away from me." Jackson said, as he stared right into her eyes, letting her know he mainly meant her.

The two stared at each other for a few moments, until she cleared her throat and turned her head to break eye contact and asked,"So what you think by becoming a werewolf your life would magically go back to normal and be better?"

"That was the plan but nothing even happened." Jackson said disappointingly.

"Nothing happened at all?" Teagan asked surprised. She remembered Avery telling her one time that the bite would either turn you or kill you, but if Jackson didn't turn or obviously die, then what happened?

"Nope. I even have the tape to prove it." Jackson added.

"But... wait, you taped yourself?" Teagan asked with a laugh.

Jackson nodded his head then said with a grin,"And hey anytime you want to tape ourselves, I know someone to borrow a camera from."

"Jackson, be serious." Teagan said with a sigh.

"I was." Jackson said back, a grin still on his face.

"No you're not. Jackson do you understand that you could have died." Teagan said, as tears filled her eyes,If the bite didn't kill you and you did become a werewolf, then hunters would be after you your whole life. Plus let's not forget the fact that for a moment Derek thought you were the kanima. Do you really think he would let you live if you were? He would kill you the first chance he gets."

"Yeah but I passed his stupid little test, which was not a fun experience for me by the way." Jackson snapped, as he thought about the test Derek did on him, giving him the venom from the kanima which paralyzed him briefly.

"Then if that wasn't bad enough, while I was on the ground and couldn't move, your new little friend not so kindly suggested I retract my statement so he can return to school." Jackson added,"For some reason, Derek wants both of his little pets back at school."

Teagan lowered her eyebrows in confusion wondering why it was so important to Derek to have his wolf pack at school. She knew he wasn't worried about their education so what was so important?

She opened her mouth to ask Jackson that but she could, he said,"Earlier I overheard Erica and Isaac talking. They were saying something about Derek wanting something done during Chemistry."

"Wanting what done?" Teagan asked, feeling confused and a little disappointed too. She thought Isaac had returned to school for her, cause he missed her, when really it was to do Derek's dirty work.

"I don't know." Jackson answered and feeling concern about her when he saw the look on her face. He could tell something was bothering her and he hated to see her that way. He opened his mouth to ask her what was wrong but before he could she spoke up.

"Wait a minute.. Mr. Harris is combining his classes today for some kind of project remember?" She asked, then when he nodded his head she continued,"What if it's another test? What if Derek wants them to do another test on someone?"

"But who?" Jackson asked, then answered 'Lydia' at the same time Teagan did.

"It's got to be Lydia. She's the only other one who has been bit by a alpha." Teagan pointed out, then added,"We got to stop them. If they test her and she fails somehow, they will kill her."

"What do we do?" Jackson asked.

Teagan thought for a moment, then shook her head as she mumbled,"I don't know."

"We need help." She added,"wait, you have class with Stiles and Scott next right?"

"Testicle left and right? Yeah they are in my class." Jackson answered.

Teagan rolled her eyes and chuckled at his nickname for them, then said,"Tell them what is going on and I'll text Avery. Maybe together we all can stop them."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Jackson asked, worried about her safely above all else.

"It's the only idea we have." Teagan answered back with a shrug, as she turned to leave the restroom.

"Teagan.. wait." Jackson called out, then waited until she turned around to look at him before he continued,"Why do you even care? About me getting the bite I mean?"

Teagan tilted her head to the side and shot him a look, she couldn't believe he would actually ask her that, which is what she told him.

"You shouldn't have to ask me that Jackson. You should already know the answer." Teagan said, as she unlocked the door then opened it to walk out, leaving behind a smiling Jackson.

After her first class Avery was headed to her next class when she heard someone say 'hey' from behind her.

Spinning around she saw Isaac.

"Isaac!" She happily exclaimed as she hugged him.

A little surprised, it took him a moment to hug her back.

Stepping back she smiled and gave him a playful wink as she said, "I'm so happy you're back and I know Teagan's thrilled… she already texted me. Points for pulling her into a room to surprise her."

"Yeah, uh… I just wanted to surprise her." He said as he eyed Lydia who walked past them.

"Job well done." She said, and then her smile fell some.

"However, not so happy that Jackson got bit… and even more unhappy about the fact that you didn't tell us sooner." She stated, wondering why if he was their friend he'd kept that to himself.

"I honestly thought all of you knew. I haven't been to school in a while…" He reminded her.

She nodded, accepting his answer.

He was getting ready to ask her if she and Lydia had the same chemistry class when her phone went off.

He watched as she pulled it from her purse and her expression changed.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

She looked at him but the look on her face wasn't quite the same happy to see him expression it had been only moments before.

"Yeah, I need to get going though… Stiles needs to see me." She said. She did have a text from Stiles, but the one that concerned her was the one from Teagan saying that Derek was now convinced Lydia was the Kanima and had sent Isaac and Erica to test her.

"Okay…" He said, able to tell she wasn't telling him the entire truth.

"See you later though." She said plastering on a friendly smile as she squeezed his arm when she walked past him.

A few classes later Avery was walking towards the large classroom her teacher Mr. Harris had moved chemistry to that day.

He had an experiment planned and was combining 2 of his chemistry classes at a time.

"What are we going to do?" Teagan asked as she met Avery outside of the room.

Avery shrugged as she whispered, "I guess you sit by Isaac and we try to keep him away from Lydia."

"So if I sit by Isaac who are you sitting by… Erica?" Teagan quietly whispered back.

"Are you kidding me, not I'm not sitting by her. I'll take care of Erica… all I need is a wolfs bane laced bullet." Avery said through gritted teeth.

"Come on." Teagan said as she looped arms with her best friend and they walked into the room.

They looked around all of the mini lab tables in rows.

Spotting Isaac at a front table by himself Avery nodded toward him and said, "Alright… go get him tiger." As she smacked Teagans butt.

"Avery!" Teagan exclaimed wide eyed as she stared at her.

"It was a good luck pat… now go." Avery said laughing as she looked up to see Scott slide onto the stool next to Lydia at her lab table.

Avery sat down beside Stiles, and moments later Harris began class.

He explained that he was conducting an experiment to see if 2 heads are better than 1, and that each lab table would be a station.

He reassigned seats and everyone had a pattern to follow when switching tables,

Avery looked over to see Teagan and Lydia paried up at one of the stations and then over to Erica and Scott.

"Allison, do you have any wolfs bane bullets?" Avery asked looking over her friend and current lab partner.

"Uhh, what?" Allison asked thrown off.

Avery nodded to where Erica had slid her hand up Scott's thigh.

"Oh my god…" Allison breathed out.

After switching tables again, Stiles leaned in and whispered "What are you doing? You're supposed to be distracting Isaac."

Teagan looked at him as she stated, "Kind of hard to do when we're being forced to move all around the room."

Stiles measured out some liquid and poured it into the beaker as he sighed and nodded, "This is the worst possible day for this lab…"

"Yeah, well… Mr. Harris is here to ruin our lives." Teagan muttered as she looked back to where Avery and Allison were working.

It was a few lab partner switches later that Erica was paired up with Avery right after she'd been paired up with Allison.

Allison was at the table right behind them.

Isaac was across the room at the front of the room with Lydia and Stiles was a few tables behind them with Teagan again.

"Hello Avery." Erica taunted as she smiled at her.

"Erica." Avery greeted back, forcing a wider smile.

Running her finger along the edge of the glass beaker, Erica quietly said "You know, I'm not sure why you let him go… Derek is such a great kisser."

Avery bit down on her tongue so hard she could taste blood.

Allison looked at Erica and shook her head, only moments before they'd switched partners Erica had been trying to get under Allison's skin by making comments about Scott.

"Yeah, well… I've had better." Avery finally mumbled.

Erica laughed as she could hear Avery's heartbeat quickening.

"You know, I kind of feel bad for you Avery. See, I've been doing my homework and I know how much you've done for Derek, letting him stay with you when he was in hiding and well, I know it wasn't a random attack on you. You risked your life for him, and it's really pathetic you did all of that for some guy who dumped you." Erica continued to taunt.

"That's funny because the only one I feel sorry for is you, Erica. You see Derek picked you to turn because you were an easy target, a loser with no self-esteem. He knew you'd practically sell your soul for a bit of popularity, now that is what I call pathetic." Avery shot back at her.

Erica laughed at seeing she was getting under Avery's skin.

"You're just jealous." Erica accused.

"Of what?" Avery questioned.

Erica let out another laugh and opened her mouth to speak but Avery cut her off.

"Haven't you heard, I've moved on from Derek." Avery said calmly.

"Oh?" Erica questioned. An amused look on her face.

"To Stiles…" Avery pointed out.

Erica's jaw tensed.

"Oh I'm sorry did I strike a nerve? See… I happen to know that you've had this huge, pathetic crush on him forever and yet you were such a nobody and a loser that you were invisible to him when he's not even popular. Instead the first bit of attention you manage to score from a guy is because he's seducing you into joining his pack and being a guard dog." Avery told her.

Allison's eyes widened as she looked between Erica and Avery, it was only a few moments ago that Erica had dug her claws into Allison's thigh and intimidated her. Now Allison was watching Avery tear into her and she vowed to herself that the next time Erica confronted her, she'd stand up to her also.

Erica was silent for a few moments as she tried to think of something to say.

"The truth is, you can wear all the tiny leather skirts and low cut shirts that you want, but you'll always really be on the outside looking in. Especially when there's still videos of you pissing yourself in class on the internet, you think any guy really wants to get near that?" Avery asked, her voice a little loud causing a few guys in the nearby area to look over at them.

"What do you think they're talking about?" Stiles asked Teagan as he watched Erica and Avery.

"I don't know… but I saw her with her hand on Scott's leg earlier." Teagan informed him.

"Maybe we should go over there." Stiles offered, as he observed Avery gripping the side of the table like she was in pain.

"Why? Mr. Harris will probably give up both detention." Teagan argued.

"What if she hurts her?" Stiles asked, glancing back over his shoulder across the room where the two girls were.

"If Avery hurts Erica?" Teagan asked with a small laugh.

"No I mean…" He started to correct her but Teagan cut him off.

"I know you meant that the other way around, but come on… it's Avery." Teagan said, trying to make him feel better as she added the last ingredient to their glass beaker.

"She's human… Erica's a freaking werewolf." He said quietly.

Teagan let out a small sigh, "Werewolf or not, she's still a teenage girl."

"Meaning?" Stiles asked.

"Meaning that whether she'll admit it or not, she cares about what people think. It doesn't matter if she has a set of real claws, Avery's claws are bigger and emotional wounds run a lot deeper then physical ones." Teagan tried to explain what she meant.

Stiles looked as the contents in their beaker began to harden and clear into a crystal like form.

Teagan looked at him as he glanced back over his shoulder.

"Stiles, we're friends and I like you… I think you're good for Avery and she likes you too. So I'm going to give you some advice…" Teagan began to say but Stiles cut her off.

"Yeah… anything." Stiles said quickly.

"Don't act like you're worried about Avery all the time, it will get on her nerves. She can take care of herself and if you try to tell her she shouldn't do things, it's not going to end well." Teagan explained. Avery had always been really independent.

"But I am worried about her… all the time." Stiles admitted as he ran a hand over his hair.

"I know, so am I." Teagan admitted as she glanced back to see Avery speaking in a low tone to Erica.

"I worry about you too, we're friends." Stiles told her.

"Worried about me? Why?" She asked surprised as she used a pair of lab tongs to pick the crystal up and look it over.

"Uh, hello! You're dating a werewolf, and he's not in control. Do you not remember him trying to kill that cop and then turning on you and Avery?" Stiles pointed out.

"Derek is training him, teaching him how to control it." Teagan assured him.

"Well, that makes me feel better. Whenever Derek's involved it's bound to be a fool-proof plan." Stiles muttered.

Erica gripped Avery's leg like she did to Allison earlier, claws out and just puncturing the skin.

Avery made a small pained groan and looked at Erica as she said, "You bitch, I was having a seizure… I couldn't control my body."

"I know, and I've never brought it up before or said anyting to you but don't think for a second that you can pick a fight with me and I'll just sit here and take it. You aren't the only one with claws, babe. Don't you get who I am? If you continue to harass me and my friends, I will bring you down." Avery said through gritted teeth as Erica dug her nails in deeper.

She opened her mouth to reply with a snarky comeback but stopped when she could hear some guys in the classroom talking. 'Avery's right… she is that girl who peed herself. I don't care how hot she is, I'm so not touching that.' The guy he was at the table with replied, 'Yeah, and Avery's way hotter anyway.'

Letting out a small ragged breath from pain Avery hissed, "Now get your claws out of my leg, or I will make it so you won't be able to step one foot in this school."

Just as Erica moved her hand, their teacher called out "Time's up. If you've catalyzed the reaction correctly you should now be looking at a crystal."

"Look at that…" Erica said as she used the tongs on their station to pick the crystal up from the beaker.

"You managed to do something right." Avery snapped.

"Now for the last part of the experiment I'm sure you'll all enjoy. You can eat it." Mr. Harris told the class.

Avery stared at the crystal for a few moments before she snapped a piece off. Erica took the other half of it and looked it over.

Avery popped her half of the crystal in her mouth and said, "It's kinda like rock candy… only not as good."

"Almost looks… deadly." She said with a smirk, as she ate her own half of it.

"What?" Avery asked as she pulled a bottle of water from her purse and took a drink.

"Would have been better if we could have flavored it." Erica continued on about the rock candy like product they'd made.

Avery opened her mouth to repeat her question but before she could she heard Stiles and Teagan both yell, "Lydia!" as they saw the Kanima venom dripping from the piece that she put in her mouth.

Isaac had laced it with the venom to test her.

"What?" Lydia asked them confused.

"Oh my god…" Avery breathed out.

Scott looked back at Avery and then to Allison as he swallowed hard, Lydia didn't have a reaction to the venom and appeared to be the Kanima.

"She's dead…" Erica said, her voice in a taunting tone to Avery when Lydia failed the test.
