(A/N, I know it's been longwinded, but this prologue is almost over)
Xavier held his newborn baby boy in his arms. He sat with Lucy and Delilah, "What should we name him?" Xavier asked.
Lucy smiled at him, shaking her head, "I have no idea." She kissed Delilah's forehead, "You should come up with something." She said, nodding off into the bed.
"Corbin. Corbin Earnest West." Xavier said, holding him tight.
Ian walked into the bedroom, "Hi, Pinkerton said the final product is ready. Said you would know what it means."
"How many times have I told you to knock?" Xavier asked.
Ian blinked, "All was quiet, there was no indication that either of you were nude or anything." Ian explained.
"Well, it makes us mortals uncomfortable if you just walk in." Xavier said softly, setting Corbin next to Lucy.
"My apologies." Ian said, walking out of the room and going back to the entrance.
Xavier walked to the entrance with him, there were two men in agility armor waiting for him.
"Sleipnir." Xavier said quietly. A thread from the spider wrapped around his waist and pulled him with it as Sleipnir ran towards the VSS facility.
Xavier flew into the air and landed on Sleipnir's back. The men who came for Xavier slowly faded behind them. Sleipnir landed in front of the VSS facility. Construction had begun above ground since Xavier had last been there. New walls were already put in. Sleipnir had to wait outside the construct. Xavier walked in, going to the elevator. He went down to where Pinkerton had been waiting. Pinkerton smiled, "I not only finished my final project, but I have extended my life with a bit of modified FEV. I will dance on your grave." Pinkerton said with a chuckle.
"Glad you have time to experiment on yourself as well as working on the Empire's projects." Xavier said.
"Yes yes yes. All for the empire." Pinkerton said, "Come on."
Pinkerton walked down the hall, leading Xavier to the winding tunnel.
At the end of the tunnel, Pinkerton showed off the finished products. "I have made 50 of the originals. And two versions of upgraded products. There is five of one upgrade and one of the other. My manufacturing facilities work great." Pinkerton said, laughing.
"Good. The upgrades seem too complex. We'll take the first 50 out for a field test, the best testers will be trained for the better ones."
"Of course." Pinkerton said, "I'm gonna go get lunch." He walked off, leaving Xavier alone in the cave.
