In all honesty, we got here much faster than I was prepared to...more on that at the end.
By the way, got my college refund! FINALLY!
Fire Emblem: New Emissaries
Ymarkteg: NUMENGATE
Recap Five
Having escaped Regalshin, the troop began traversing the Eastern Stone Nation of Pozem. The Umbarran Avalanche and the hectic escape from Ukla Cave itself cost them most of their supplies and as such they were forced to remain in Tier for some time as they regained funds and prepared to continue their search for the Elder Sage Freen.
During their travels they came across Lyle's traveling companions Versha and Pesh who came to Pozem thanks to a hint that an old comrade turned enemy named Ushnae had been sighted. The pair joined the troop as they reached Helm and learned of Freen and Ilan's whereabouts as well as an apparent Dune Guard and Altar event occurring in the wastes to the east of Helm.
At the same time, Shinon, Uhnie, Zihark, Leah and Orkra escape from prison and Regalshin completely, entering the Core Black Nation of Numengate and learning of the events surrounding Rey Oshwa's 'death' and the murderer of the replacement Archduke Kraener who is actually Iltar'Elm's appointed ward Re'Zin.
Soren and Mia's Troop splits up with a small portion being led by Lyle to search for hints of the supposedly still alive Ushnae.
Soren and Mia's portion of the Troop enters the forgotten Catacombs in pursuit of Meloi and are followed by members of the Altar led by Zey'Yu. Eventually they corner Meloi and a three way battle between the Troop, the last of the Dune Guard and the Altar occurs.
During it Zey'Yu realizes Kay'Shera is in the troop, the pair were lovers who were each told that the other had died. Betraying the Altar, Zey'Yu joined them and as the chamber was pierced the troop escaped with Freen and Ilan's timely aid, leaving Meloi to drown.
During the battle, the Troop obtained The Item from Meloi, a stone known as the Orichalcum that can house the spirit of a fallen man or woman whether they are utterly vile or a radiant hero. Ilan and Freen reveal they still have Goetia and plan to head to Numengate to meet with Elder Sage Opstun only to join the troop on their return to Anondye to learn what happened to Helswath and its Elder Sage protector, Shaelin.
Lyle's portion of the Troop arrives at Ushnae's Retreat where Lyle first met Ushnae but no one is there, the swordmaster finds a key before they are attacked by a detachment of Midnight soldiers led by Hectain, the same Griffon Knight who was attacking Pesh and Versha when they united on the North Pozem Route.
Thanks to Ranulf's timely arrival the group along with Dent, Telm and Eminse defeat Hectain and his soldiers and moves to rejoin with Soren and Mia, bringing with them Dent and Telm of the Euto Research Center and Head Researcher Eminse, Orgoth's wife.
However, as they leave Ilan's Keep they are attacked by Kanahana, a fierce group of Midnight soldiers as well as several Midnights. Even after reinforcements arrive in the form of Lyle's group the team is overwhelmed as Pesh and Versha reveal themselves as the Midnight Commanders of Pozem, Dalton Pesh (former archduke of Myillheim who was reportedly killed by agents of The Altar for killing civilians that threatened peace) and Asai Versha.
Telm is killed by Versha and Lyle is greatly wounded by Pesh before Freen unleashes Goetia and destroys the remaining Midnight Troops, two Midnights and seemingly Pesh, Versha and Kanahana, the power of the tome however costs Freen his life.
The Troop then makes for the Pozem / Anondye border and engages in battle against Midnight-manipulated Ottenz and Wilt's forces before being attacked by soldiers of the Altar posing as Pozem troops seemingly trying to incite a war between the two nations or stop one to preserve the false peace.
Unable to convince the war monk he is wrong, the man is slain by Lyle to save Orgoth's life and the battle ends.
In Treige, Iltar'Elm is imprisoned by Headmaster Kino for the actions of Re'Zin and to stop anyone who knows the truth behind the Euto Research Center's destruction from talking.
Amaryllis sees the political corruption reach its boiling point as Jikahn attempts to convince the Senators of Anondye led by Vassaan (To'Eltz employer) that Soren and Mia's group are the same terrorists responsible for the destruction of The Western Archive (The Midnight's doing) and the Euto Research Center (Jikahn's own doing).
With the testimony of Eminse, Dent and Iltar'Elm's timely arrival, Jikahn is found guilty but is killed by his the newly awakened Ushnae (who until now had been an unconscious unnamed Froghul in Shinon and Zihark's group's care). Ushnae then brings out Meloi (who was rescued from the Catacombs by the Midnight to continue using him) and begins a battle in the Hearing Chamber.
Ending with Ushnae and Meloi's retreat, Soren, Mia, Vassaan, To'Eltz and Lyle meet with Queen Talia of Anondye to make a plan to go to the Numengate capital where Ushnae hinted the Midnight would strike to make themselves truly known at the heart of Ymarkteg.
Unable to deploy immediate forces due to the complexity of the situation, Soren and Mia are left to take their Troop in alone as Queen Talia and Senator Vassaan move to amass an army.
The Midnight finally steps out of the shadows and into the light in the Core Black Nation of Numengate…
As of right now I am working on CH48 but 47 has a lot of work that still needs to be done to it.
For the most part the Numengate arc is complete except for some clarifying details I can do as I review them at the end of each week.
However, as I begin to close out the story, weekly updates for Ymarkteg will stop after CH46 for a month at most hopefully, it depends on how quickly I can regroup and continue writing.
Until then I hope you enjoy the Numengate arc!
