Three weeks passed; the group was desperate, surviving on very little food and water; Chloe would give up half her share so that Andrea could have a little more to eat. Michonne had suggested that they'd still go to Washington, DC; because even though Eugene lied about the cure, he didn't lie about DC; he chose that place for a reason. The place could still have the resources to improve their chance of survival.

The group had to continue on foot after the van they were using ran out of gas; everyone was too exhausted to walk, but didn't have a choice.

"How much longer do we got?" Maggie asked.

"Until we get there, or until we drop like flies?" Chloe asked.

"The second one," Maggie replied.

"I have no idea," Chloe responded.

Chloe had gotten so weak, that she'd have to hold on to Garth for support; Carl gave Maggie a music box, which didn't work; however Maggie was grateful for it. Gabriel tried to offer his condolences, but Maggie rejected it, telling him to mind his own business.

"If you ever need someone to talk to," he stated.

"Stop it!" Maggie chided.

"When you're ready." Gabriel said.

"Hey! Leave her alone!" Chloe chastised. "She doesn't need your support!"

"I'm just trying to offer some condolences," Gabriel implied.

"My promise to punch your lights out is still in the air!" Chloe warned.

The group continued on, like the walkers in the distance; if those walkers got closer, they'd be goners. Chloe wanted to take down the walkers, but Michonne told her it wasn't a good idea. Once the group had gotten to a ravine, half of them stood back while the rest lured them to the side of the road, and pushing them into the ravine. Chloe had to forcefully push a walker down.

The group had come across some abandoned cars; Maggie opened the trunk of one, finding a bound and gagged walker; thinking of Beth she closed it immediately. However, not wanting to leave the walker like that, she asks Glenn to kill it for her, which he does.

Daryl would often go off on his own in search of food and water; Carol went with him once, but was told to stay back the second time around.

Once he returned, the group was resting on the side of the road, having finished the last bit of water. Chloe, though weak from hunger, got to her feet, and walked a short distance into the woods. The group jumped in surprise when they heard several gunshots.

"Must have been some walkers," Milton guessed.

Chloe slowly made her way out of the woods, holding a few wild geese in her hands.

"I know it's not much, but it's better than nothing," she implied. "Besides it was either this or something worse."

It took a while to defeather and cook the geese, but it was worth it. The group praised Chloe for finding those geese. At one point, Gabriel took off his collar and threw it in the fire, as Maggie looked on. Chloe noticed that Noah hadn't had any to eat, and offered him some.

"Thanks." he said.

"Are you okay?" Chloe asked.

"I don't know if I'm going to make it." Noah admitted.

"You either will or you won't," Chloe replied.

They continued on a little longer, eventually coming across bottles of water, with a note saying, "From a friend". However, they were all weary that it might be a trap, except for Eugene, who stepped forward and grabbed a bottle.

"Eugene, don't." Rosita advised.

"What are you doing?" Chloe asked

"Quality assurance." Eugene replied

Before Eugene had a chance to take a sip, Abe stepped forward and slapped the bottle away from him.

At that very moment thunder began rumbling, and rain began pouring. Everyone was happy, but not Judith.

"We need to find shelter!" Rick noted.

"There's a barn!" Daryl said. "It's not far from here!"

Daryl lead the group through the woods, and to a barn. Maggie killed a walker, that had a gun, and Carol noted that she could have done it herself.

Half the group sat around a fire, Carol looked over at Carl, who was sleeping with Judith in his arms, noting that she felt sorry for kids who had to grow up in this world.

"When I was a kid," Rick started. "I asked my grandpa once if he ever killed any Germans in the war. He wouldn't answer. He said that was grown-up stuff, so... so I asked if the Germans ever tried to kill him. But he got real quiet. He said he was dead the minute he stepped into enemy territory. Every day he woke up and told himself, "Rest in peace. Now get up and go to war." And then after a few years of pretending he was dead... he made it out alive. That's the trick of it, I think. We do what we need to do and then we get to live. But no matter what we find in DC, I know we'll be okay. Because this is how we survive. We tell ourselves... that we are the walking dead."

"We ain't them," Daryl noted, getting to his feet.

"We're not them," Rick agreed. "Hey, we're not."

"We ain't them," Daryl repeated, walking away from the campfire.

Daryl stayed up while the others slept; he noticed walkers right outside the barn, and tried desperately to keep the doors shut. Within minutes, the entire group was holding them shut. The storm was growing worse, but they refused to give up.

The next morning, Chloe woke up, but laid on the ground, listening to a conversation between Maggie and Daryl.

"Beth was tough," Daryl noted. "Even if she didn't know it." he gave her the music box. "The gearbox had some grit in it."

"Thank you," Maggie replied.

Chloe got up slowly, and walk to Daryl and Maggie who stood up.

"Daryl, you need to sleep," Chloe advised.

"I know," Daryl implied. "Hey, what happened back in Augusta, we didn't know."

"Beth didn't want anyone to die," Chloe stated. "When she got in front of me, I wished she hadn't. I know why she did it, though. She did it so I could go back to my father, back to Andrea. I never even told her about the baby, but I was going to."

"Let's go outside," Maggie suggested.

Chloe and Maggie walked out of the barn, to discover trees had fallen all around, with walker's crushed or decapitated. Based on the destruction, they were lucky they survived.

"What are we doing out here?" Chloe asked.

"The sunrise," Maggie answered.

Chloe looked out at the rising sun.

"Noah told me that he doesn't know if he's going to make it," Chloe noted. "I wonder the same thing about us."

"We'll make it," Maggie implied. "We have before; Daryl fixed the music box."

Maggie wound the music box a few times, but it only clicked.

"You gotta be kidding me!" Maggie chuckled.

Chloe laughed along, until they heard a voice, making them both scramble to their feet.

"Hello," a man said. "Hi, I didn't mean to interrupt; Good morning my name is Aaron; stranger danger, I know. But I'm a friend. I'd like to talk to the person in charge; Rick, right?"

Chloe and Maggie were both confused.

"How do you know?" Maggie asked.

"Why?" Chloe asked.

"I have good news" Aaron replied.

And suddenly the music box started playing music.
