Halloween Special (Not included in the story line-just filler)
"Ted! Your grandma Grace is already here!"
I called out for the third time, trying to find my son who was currently playing hide and seek with his cousin Ava. They were going trick or treating with some of Grace's patients from the hospital, a Halloween event organized by Dr. Trevelyan-Grey herself and husband Carrick. Kate and I were both stoked when we learned about it and had decided to dress them as minions.
Grace and Carrick then offered to take the kids home with them so we, the adults, could attend the Halloween party being thrown by their daughter Mia. I was reluctant to go at first, willing to just accompany Ted and then spend the night at Kate and Elliot's place watching bad scary movies. But when Mia extended her invitation to Tiff, Cam and Gavin, they finally got me to agree. Not to mention the death threats I earned from Tiff and Kate when I said 'no' the fourth time they asked.
Unlike Tiff and Cam, Gavin didn't accept the invitation right away. He already mentioned about his schedule for the Halloween night. Another officer had asked him to cover for the other's night shift a couple of weeks back so it was hard to change his schedule in such a short notice. So it was just me, Ted, Tiff and Cam who drove to Seattle. We planned to stay at a nearby hotel but Kate was having none of that so she threatened us bodily harm if we didn't go straight to their house and stay there.
And since I already knew Gavin was supposed to be working on Halloween, I was just mildly disappointed he couldn't join us. Tiff and Cam's reaction was a different story. Apparently, they had already chosen some couple's costumes for Gavin and me. First was, Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo.
I was like, "We're not kids anymore! And you're the red head here Tiff."
"Scooby-doo's not just for kids, duh." Tiff shot back at me. The second costume idea was courtesy of Cam, Shrek and Fiona. Tiff and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. We told him that it was a bad one. And I doubt Gavin would go with being a big green guy that was not the Incredible Hulk. And then next suggestion was Tiff's Tarzan and Jane. She wanted Gavin to show off his finger-licking body so I said 'next!' to block more of her ideas of showing off anything else. Next costume idea was Cookie Monster and the cookie. Me being cooking monster and Gavin the cookie. Cam even suggested a camera pose where I would lick and bite Gavin the cookie. I just shook my head, frantically saying no while Tiff forcefully closed his laptop.
"Can you be serious here, Camy!" And she fired off her other ideas—
"Popeye and Olive from Popeye the Sailor Man," and even had an example picture of the costumes. "What? You don't like it?" She said when I just continued stuffing my face with pizza. "What about Britney and Justin's denim outfit from the 2001 VMAs? It was cute, you gotta admit."
Cam scrunched up his nose. "Geez, Tiff. You got nothing else than that? Hey Ana, what about you go Bella and Gavin's your Edward? What do you say? It's the best right?"
"For real, Cam? That's your best idea?" And then she paused, looked straight at Cam—then both of them turned to me with wide eyes.
"What?" I asked when they just continued to stare at me.
"Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke 2013 VMAs!" That night ended with me kicking them both out of the apartment.
After sending off Ted and Ava with Grace, Kate suddenly disappeared after she told us that we'd be just meeting at the party. Tiff was going to help with my make up after I have chosen the simplest movie character from her list of Halloween costume ideas. Jane Smith from Mr. and Mrs. Smith. She was thrilled because she'd been wanting to try the Angelina Jolie make up complete with that fuller pouty lips. I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull off the Angelina look but Tiff said I should just leave it to her. And I did.
It didn't take too long for her to finish my Angelina Jolie make up.
I had to give it to her, she did amazing. My lips were fuller, the hair, cheekbones and super sharp jaw line. Complete with my long black dress with high slit, high heel pumps and gun thigh holster, she transformed me into Mrs. Smith.
"You look smoking hot, Ana." Cam whistled when he entered the room. He gestured for me to turn around and I did. "Good job, Fany."
Tiff gave him a high five while exclaiming, "What did I tell you? Mission accomplished."
Then we proceeded in helping Cam with his Jon Snow outfit. They'd originally planned to be Rick and Michonne from The Walking Dead but Mia mentioned that some of her friends from Paris would be attending and going as The Walking Dead cast. Since she wasn't sure if there would be a Rick or Michonne, Cam and Tiff decided to change their costumes and have chosen to be Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
They almost gave up and change costumes again when we couldn't find the right outfit for Cam. But he got lucky when Tiff didn't stop her online search and finally found an online shop where they sell cheap Game of Thrones costumes.
We were almost ready so I quickly sent Kate a text to inform her that we'd see her and Elliot soon. Their lips were both sealed when we asked what they'd be for Halloween. It must be something hilarious and just wanted to come in as a big surprise for us. I was kind of disappointed when I didn't see any messages from Gavin. The last time I heard from him was before lunch we he called to remind me to send pictures of Ted in a minion costume. I wanted to call him before we go but decided to just send a quick text.
We're off to the party. Missing you. Reply when you can. - Ax
"Ready?" Cam and I both nodded at Tiff. "Now let's call on my dragons and show Seattle how Portland girls party."
Mia had chosen the best place for a Halloween party. It looked like a totally abandoned warehouse from the outside. And the inside? Brilliantly transformed into a horror house.
There was a short hallway before you enter the main room. We were greeted by a staff wearing a Jigsaw Puppet mask from that movie Saw. Since it was an exclusive party, we had to show IDs to make sure we were truly on the guest list. There were also two bouncers out front and wouldn't be surprised to see more securities inside.
"Oh no. Ana, look!" Cam pointed at something behind me. I turned and read the sign out loud, "Warning: Scary Clowns Ahead."
Cam scooted closer and clasped my hand. "Damn it. I hate clowns!"
"Don't be a pussy. You're Jon Snow tonight, for fuck's sake." The Mother of Dragons hissed beside him.
After we were cleared, the staff ushered us inside and was welcomed by the booming sound of Kanye West's Monster.
"Oh! I love this song for Halloween!" Tiff excitedly said.
The light effects were bloody red and it took us a minute to adjust and scan the party that had already started. It wasn't overly decorated but definitely spooky. First thing that caught my attention was the hanging zombie heads near the bar, making it easy to be spotted by late arrivals, like us. The ceiling was partially covered with spider webs and the backdrop of the DJ area was full of gore bloody human handprints. And the DJ's costume? Cam's biggest nightmare. A zombie clown.
The dance floor was already packed and it might take us ten years before we could spot anyone we know. "Let's head straight to the bar first." I suggested.
The bartenders were also wearing the Jigsaw Puppet mask and immediately handed us by the nearest one the short list of the available drinks of the party.
Tiff took charge and chose Black Devil Martini for the three of us. "Sounds wicked to me." It didn't take long for our drinks to be ready and we made a toast to the spookiest time of the year.
"Happy Halloween!" Cam's ears perked up when Rihanna's Disturbia came on.
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum
We half danced and enjoyed our martinis which tasted pretty good in my opinion. "Spicy dark rum?"
"Yeap," Tiff agreed. "And a black-olive garnish, I think."
Even with the party getting crowded every minute, I shouldn't have underestimated Mia's ability to find me. Supergirl literally flew through the crowd the second she saw me from the other side of the dance floor, and threw herself on me.
"Ana! I didn't recognize you!"
I hugged her back and threw Tiff a thankful look for catching my drink on time. "I wouldn't put it past your super powers tonight. You look amazing!"
"Not me, you! Angelina Jolie… Wow Ana, you certainly pulled it off!"
"Thanks to my talented friends here," I introduced her to Tiff and Cam who both thanked her for the invitations.
"I'm glad to finally meet you two. I heard so much about the most notorious duo in Portland – according to Kate." Mia pulled them into a group hug.
"And we heard so much about The Mia of Seattle." Khaleesi said with a mischievous smile.
Mia giggled and threw her hands up in the air. "I hope you all have a blast tonight!" And the three started dancing.
"Mia, have you seen Kate and Elliot? I don't know if they have already arrived or not yet here." I asked before she got pulled over by another guest.
"They're here!" And she gave me a secret smile that confirmed my suspicions that the two was up to something no good. "They'll come to you when they are ready. Don't worry." A group of newly arrived guests caught her attention so she made a 'wait a minute' hand gesture and promised to come back.
We ordered another set of Black Devil Martinis with the remix of Katy Perry's ET being played by the DJ. We quickly polished the drinks and decided to hit the dance floor. I couldn't concentrate and laughed my ass off watching Tiff and Cam do their epic medieval dance routine. My thoughts immediately went to Christian when S&M was played next. According to Grace, he had a last minute business trip to New York so I was a hundred percent he wouldn't be showing up tonight. Ted was the most disappointed when he learned that his father wouldn't see him in costume. We stayed for a few more songs and called time to get more drinks.
We started pointing out the familiar movie and TV characters we saw in the party. We easily spotted the group of The Walking Dead cast that Mia had warned us about, sure enough there was a Rick and a Michonne. There was even a guy in a Scream mask who scared the shit of out of me and Tiff when we made a quick trip to the restroom. He just jumped out of nowhere and landed in front of us. Not cool. The former redhead turned blonde for the night cursed the guy who apologized and made a hasty escape. I doubt he would try to come close next time he saw Tiff. He wouldn't want his balls busted by the end of the night. She wasn't the Mother of Dragons for nothing.
During our fourth round of drinks, something caught Cam's attention and blurted out, "Oh my god."
"Holy shit!" Tiff added and started to laugh.
I scowled and slowly turned around, "What are you two—
My eyes widened, almost spitting out my drink. What in the world?!
Kate waved a hand and stepped closer, "Hi! I'm Ana Steele and this is my boyfriend…"
"Officer Gavin Boyle, always on duty." Elliot took his aviators off, wagging his eyebrows and grinned wickedly.
I instantly recognized my office grey skirt, sleeveless sky blue top and even my missing purse! "What in the hell? How? When?"
"I love it!" Tiff greeted Kate with a fierce hug and Elliot with a quick one. "Best idea ever!"
"How is my wig? Should I really dye my hair chestnut brown?" Kate turned around, posing like a catwalk model.
Cam squealed and air kissed Kate's cheeks. "You rock, Ms. Steele!" And sent a quick 'hi' to Elliot. Kate's husband looked like a true law enforcer with his blue shirt, dark blue slacks, black belt and police hat. When he saw me staring, he grabbed Kate by the waist and kissed her thoroughly.
OMG. These two!
'Ana Steele' was the first one to pull back and playfully slapped him on the chest, "Not here, Mr. Boxers."
What! "My lady…," Elliot winked at her and turned to face us again.
I was left utterly speechless.
Tiff and Cam bombarded them with questions that I was supposed to ask. Since I was stunned and still in shock, I let them ask it all. As expected, it was Kate's idea because she wanted to be someone new on Halloween. She 'borrowed' the Ana Steele costume the last time she visited which was just last week. Elliot originally planned to borrow Gavin's real uniform but he said someone informed them it might put the real Mr. Boxers in trouble.
We all decided to switch drinks and Elliot suggested to try the Bloody Brain Shooter. It didn't disappoint and even fired us up to dance the night away. Mia joined us a little later and challenged the Portland girls of a dance showdown.
I was cheering for Cam when a hand went around my waist and pulled me back to a hard front. Since I didn't know anyone else at the party, I was alarmed and ready to fight off the touchy bastard when I smelled his familiar scent.
Oh my god.
"I think you have something that is mine, Mrs. Smith," he whispered close to my ear.
I groaned when I felt his hand caress my left thigh, which was on display thanks to the slit of my dress.
He's here.
I closed my eyes, anticipating his next move. I was about to protest when I felt his hand touch my inner thigh but stopped and easily pulled out the fake pistol in my thigh holster. "What—
"You didn't ask permission to bring my gun with you."
I slowly turned around, wrapped my arms around his neck, and pulled him down closer, "Well Mr. Smith, I was hoping you'll notice it is missing and try to chase me here to get it back. Guess you found me."
He didn't kiss me like I thought he would when our lips were only an inch apart. Instead, he looked straight into my eyes and said, "Oh, I will chase after you… And I will find you, Mrs. Smith. Wherever you go, I'll always find you."
And the Halloween night got even more interesting.
