Ch.49: Saving You

(The next day...)

The next morning was just as crazy for the four guys.

Business meetings, press conferences, individual interviews, it felt like the guys had been on their feet for the entire day before Kelly and Gustavo gave them some time off to eat some lunch before resuming in the afternoon.

"Hey, with any luck you guys'll be seeing this-" James said pointing at his face "As a Cuda male model once and for all..."

"Their representative DID seem very interested in you this morning..." Logan said logically,

James nodded enthusiastically.

"I'm just glad we get to be in Pop Tiger's cover next month," Kendall said, stretching lazily in his booth "That ought to keep Gustavo and Griffin happy for a while..."

"Not to mention our album's finally been released on iTunes..." Carlos piped up excitedly "I heard from Kelly that our sales picked up by 2% this month! And it's only been out for a week!"

The guys all smiled.

Times like these were rare when they could just be together and calmly discuss their lives and music without too much drama going on around them.

"So, has Gustavo showed you guys where you'll be living after you're married?" Kendall asked Carlos as the waitress brought in their food and they all began to eat, famished.

"I'd assumed we'd be staying in 2J for a while...we haven't really considered the possibility of moving out just yet..." Carlos said seriously, as he picked up his corndog.

Kendall and James looked at each other, concernedly.

"Don't you think it might be a bit too crowded with all of us in 2J...and the baby?" James asked.

"Well, her stuff fits in our room..." Logan began.

"For now," James said "But what about when she begins to grow up?"

"We'll cross that bridge when we have to," Carlos said quickly "All I know is that, for now, we're staying in 2J..."

"Well, at least we'll be able to help you out more with the baby,". Kendall said "We'll be really close by after all..."

"We'll definitely make sure Logan behaves at least, keeps going to his meetings and such or else we'll kick his ass..." James said playfully as Logan stuck his tongue out at him.

"Yeah, we don't want another big scene like last time...especially with the wedding coming up so soon!" Kendall said.

"Speaking about that, have you guys got the rings yet?" James asked curiously "The wedding bands?"

Carlos glowered at his food and said nothing. Logan rubbed his arm sympathetically.

"My mother wants us to use her parents' rings," he said "My grandparents were married for 62 years and she's hoping their rings will bring us the same kind of luck!"

Carlos rolled his eyes at this.

"It's not a certain thing though, I'm sure we could get her to change her mind if we wanted to," Logan tried to reassure his boyfriend.

"Yeah, just like we were able to keep her from changing the bridesmaid's dress, the wedding invitation designs, the flower arrangements, and the song for the first newly-wed dance," Carlos scoffed "Oh wait, that's right, we didn't..."

"Your mom changed the theme though," Logan reminded his boyfriend gently "And the menu for the reception and included that video about us growing up..."

"Urgh, don't remind me!" Carlos moaned.

"But you guys are still excited to be getting married, right?" Kendall asked them, trying to brighten up the mood.

Logan shivered with anticipation and grinned at his friends.

"Of course we are," he said, smiling broadly.

Carlos, however, resumed eating in silence...

(That night...)

"Okay, so Kelly said we have two hours to kill before we have to go to bed...we have to get up early tomorrow after all to catch our flight..what do you guys want to do?" James said excitedly.

"I-uh-actually had a couple of things I wanted to make sure were okay so...you guys go on without me, alright? And Logan...behave," Carlos said suddenly, rushing off before his friends could say anything.

"Something's up with him," Logan said worriedly "He won't tell me what it is, but I know something is bothering him...I better wait for him in our room...we'll meet up with you guys later," he said.

James and Kendall looked at each other and shrugged.

"Sure, see you later," Kendall said as he took James' hand and they made their way outside, keen to explore the Las Vegas' surroundings.

They explored several of the nearby casinos, played several games (without getting in debt of course), and had a drink or two to relax.

"Overall, it's been pretty fun, don't you think?" James said as he and Kendall cuddled in one of the casino's booths.

"What do you mean?" Kendall asked "All we've done is go from one business meeting to another..."

"But we've been away from our families and all the drama and the pressure...we've been...you know, just us. Just you and me. We haven't had that sort of privacy for a while..." James said quietly.

Kendall chuckled.

"That's one way of putting it," he said as he ruffled James' sacred hair affectionately.

Because it was Kendall touching his hair, James didn't seem to mind.

"So, I noticed your mom is here already...will your dad and step-mom be in the wedding?" Kendall asked his boyfriend.

James sighed sadly.

"I don't think so," he said, the conflict evident in his voice.

"James?" Kendall asked, taking one of his hands in his own "Is...there something you're not telling me? Is something wrong?"

James laughed, a humorless and sarcastic laugh.

"You could say that, yes," he said "Ever since my stepmom found out I'm...you know...gay...she-she-"

"I take it she didn't respond too kindly to the news?" Kendall asked sympathetically.

"That's an understatement," James said bitterly "I doubt she'll even let my little brother near me...after all, I could contaminate him or something,"

"Your dad won't allow it," Kendall said encouragingly "And if he does, that's their loss...you're amazing Jamie and if they can't see it...well, that's their problem, you shouldn't change who you are just to please them..."

James smiled at him, there were tears in his eyes.

"Have I ever told you how amazing you are?" he asked his boyfriend.

"You have, but I never get tired of hearing it..." Kendall said and they both laughed, the pain of the memory momentarily forgotten...

(With Logan...)

Logan sighed frustratedly as he attempted to call Carlos for the umpteenth time that night.

Either the Latino had forgotten to turn the volume up in his phone or he was purposefully avoiding the smart boy's calls.

Logan was worried that he'd upset the Latino by his recent mistakes and that he'd been bottling up his hurt from that time...something which the smart boy knew wasn't okay, especially given the amount of strain they were already in from the wedding and the baby and their families.

He sighed sadly, wishing he could take back his actions from the last couple of days, wishing he could be the perfect fiancé that Carlos deserved.

He moved towards the window in their hotel room, gazing at the city lights all around, strangely enough, Vegas seemed to come alive at night more than during the day.

He knew that, if it wasn't for him and his stupid decisions, he and Carlos could be out there, enjoying the city's many different recreational activities with James and Kendall...if he wasn't so goddamned weak...

He was still wallowing up in self-pity when he saw a large pink limousine show up in front of the hotel.

Logan smiled despite himself.

'Who'd order such a thing?' He wondered 'I'd never even want to imagine being in it...'

He walked away from the window and instead plopped down in the bed, hoping to watch some T.V while he waited for Carlos to come back.

To his surprise, Carlos walked into their room not five minutes after that, looking both agitated and excited.

"Carlos?" Logan asked scrambling up from the bed "Babe, where have you been? Are you alright? We were so worried-" he began but Carlos interrupted him.

"I'll explain everything on the way, but you have to come down with me right now!" Carlos said, pulling on his boyfriend's arm as he led him out of their room and towards the hotel elevator.

"Carlos-" Logan tried again once inside the elevator but the Latino cut across him.

"Logan, do you love me?" He asked him seriously.

"I do, you know that," Logan said suspiciously "Carlos-"

"Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me?" Carlos interrupted him once again.

"Yeah, that's kind of implied with the whole marriage thing..." Logan said impatiently before starting again "Carlos-"

"Logan do you want to marry me?" Carlos asked him, very seriously.

"I-yes, yes, of course I do!" Logan said, thoroughly confused now "Carlos, what's going on?"

They had arrived at the lobby and Carlos was leading him outside, towards the dreadful pink limo.

"Remember the Little White Wedding Chapel?" Carlos asked him.

"Yes..." Logan said slowly "What about it?"

"Turns out they still offer limo transportation as part of their wedding services, too bad they only had pink," Carlos said simply, opening the limo door for Logan.

"Where are you going with this?" Logan demanded, growing more agitated by the second.

Carlos shrugged.

"You DID just say you wanted to marry me," he said.

"I didn't mean right NOW!" Logan cried, feeling his anxiety mount up "Carlos this is insane!"

"Why? If you love me and I love you then you shouldn't mind sharing the rest of your life with me...you'd want to spend the rest of our lives together, you'd want to start building our future together as soon as possible..." Carlos said softly.

"I do, I do want those things but-" Logan tried but Carlos interrupted him.

"Listen, you know that thing back home isn't going to be our wedding...it's your mother's planning and my mother's nagging and James and Kendall's original choices...everyone's participated in planning our wedding...everyone but us!" he said.

"You said you were okay with it though..." Logan said softly.

"And I was," Carlos said, his gaze softening "Until it started stressing us out both so much that it made YOU turn to drugs! That it made me think about-about"

"About...?" Logan asked quietly.

"Cheating on you," Carlos said softly "So you'd break up with me and I-but that's why I know we need to do this!"

"Carlos-" Logan began again but Carlos ignored him.

"Our wedding," he continued ranting "Should be about us, about how WE feel, the happiest moment in OUR lives," he declared.

Logan nodded, no longer attempting to speak.

"So let's make our wedding memorable for us, shall we? No more pretending for other people, no more flashy weddings and exasperating mothers. We get married right here, right now, just you and me, like it should've always been..." Carlos said, tears in his eyes.

"O-okay," Logan said weakly and clambering into the dreadful pink limo, while trembling all over. Carlos followed suit.

On their way to the chapel, Carlos couldn't help noticing how Logan couldn't seem to stop fidgeting with his hands.

"Are you okay?" He asked his boyfriend concernedly "Are you sure this is really what you want to do?"

"Y-yes," Logan stuttered nervously "I just- I'm scared you know? I mean, I hope you're not doing this simply because of what happened a few days ago..."

"I'm not," Carlos assured him "I'm doing this because of what happened nearly 3 years ago..."

"What's that?" Logan asked him curiously.

"I fell in love with the most beautiful man in existence," Carlos answered simply, pecking Logan's lips.

Logan laughed, reassured.

"What we're doing is crazy," he mused "We're getting married in Vegas!"

"I'm aware," Carlos said with a smile.

"Are you, really?" Logan said, turning serious once more "Are you aware of what you're doing here, Carlos?"

"Of course I know what I'm doing," Carlos answered cockily "Saving you..." he whispered the last part, quietly enough so that Logan couldn't hear.

The limo stopped moving then and they heard the driver get out before he opened the door for them.

Both of them took deep, calming breaths as they made their way outside the limo.

"Ready to get married?" The minister asked them kindly.

Logan and Carlos stared at one another in silence, wondering what exactly was going to happen now...

A/N: Uh-oh...will they do it? Will one of them get cold feet? SHOULD they do it? Oh and don't disregard Kames' conversation, it will be majorly important soon, because, as I said, that's a storyline I had wanted to go deeper into last story but since I couldn't I'm doing it now, any guesses?

Let me know!
