Hello!
I'm so glad you all liked my last chapter, I didn't think anyone would! Your support means the world!
Anyway, on with the chapter!
CheeChee held her gaze with the world outside.
It still hadn't sunk in that Seacat may be falling for someone else and she didn't think she could handle her heart being broken again.
She saw Seacat emerge from Big Momma's in a suit with Coral by his side in what looked to be a wedding dress and she had never felt so betrayed.
It was bad enough that Seacat didn't love her anymore, but it was much worse knowing that he loved one of her best friends instead of her.
Almost everyone around here couldn't care less about her, so when friends came around she stuck with them and it hurt when they didn't do the same.
She used to fall for every guy she saw, which lead to things like cheating and eventually they got sick of her, leaving everyone to look down on her.
Now she pays a lot more attention to true love and she thought that she had felt it with Seacat.
But she must have been wrong.
CheeChee: "There are worse things I could do
Than go with a boy or two
Even though the neighbourhood thinks I'm trashy
And no good
I suppose it could be true
But there are worse things I could do
I could flirt with all the guys
Smile at them and bat my eyes
Press against them when we dance
Make them think they stand a chance
Then refuse to see it through
That's a thing I'd never do"
Even though everyone thought that she was a cheater, she cared about people.
She didn't treat people how others treated her, she treated others well.
CheeChee: "I could stay home every night
Wait around for Mr Right
Take cold showers every day
And throw my life away
On a dream that won't come true
I could hurt someone like me
Out of spite or jealousy
I don't steal and I don't lie
But I can feel and I can cry
A fact I'll bet you never knew"
The bikers thought nothing of her and it had taken her a long time to work her way up to the top.
It wasn't fair how they treated her and this was her way of letting out her feelings.
She saw Seacat walking along the beach, which was opposite the house she was staying in, and just the sight of him tugged on her heart-strings.
Her eyes were brimming with tears, her voice cracking as she finished the song.
CheeChee: "But to cry in front of you
That's the worst thing I could do"
She pressed her hand against the window as Seacat walked past the house without a second glance.
Her determination not to cry disappeared and a stray tear rolled down her face, plopping on her nightie and creating a wet spot.
The wet spots multiplied as more and more tears fell, each one a piece of her broken heart.
Struts skipped through the front door of her house, feeling like she may burst from happiness.
"Stacy, is that you?" Her mother called from the living room.
"Yes," Struts chorused.
Struts wasn't her real name, but everyone called her it, only her mother called her by her real name, which was Stacy.
Her mother didn't really think much of having nicknames and was very prim and proper about names.
"You seem happy," Her mother said, looking up from the book she was reading as Struts strolled into the living room.
Her mother was a tall, slim woman with a pointed nose and glowing skin.
Her dark chocolate hair was scraped back into a sophisticated beehive and her fawn brown eyes were hidden behind cat-eye glasses with thick black rims.
Red painted lips, a white blouse and an iris pencil skirt finished off her appearance, along with black stilettos (like mother, like daughter).
She was a single mother yet didn't really look like a mother at all.
"Yes," Struts repeated, still as love-struck as before.
She twirled past her mother and went to gaze out of the window.
Her mother rested her book down on the chair as she stood up, smoothing her skirt down as she went.
"Stacy," Her mother called, wringing her hands together as she spoke.
After Struts didn't reply, her mother sashayed towards her.
"It's a boy isn't it," Her mother whispered in her ear, a twinkle in her and a knowing smile on her face.
Struts grinned and nodded, not taking her eyes off the window.
"Who is it?" Her mother, asked in a sing-song voice, nearly as excited as her daughter.
Struts just sighed dreamily in response.
"Come on, tell me which Rodent," Her mother pressed, growing in excitement by the second.
Struts' expression changed, she faced turned to her mother.
"It's not a Rodent."
"You like a biker that isn't a Rodent?"
"I don't like a biker at all!" Struts retaliated, "I like a surfer!"
Her mother stopped, her eyebrows creasing together.
"You like…a surfer?" Her mother asked, the pause in-between words was a little too long for Struts' liking.
"…Yes," Struts looked down at the floor, her eyes focusing on the carpet beneath her feet.
"Stacy, I thought I told you never to mix with the surfers," Her mother spoke clearly and calmly, but it was clear that she wasn't happy.
"But mother, things have changed! The bikers and surfers don't hate each other anymore. They're just as nice as the bikers, if not nicer!" Struts bit back.
"What have it told you about answering back?" Her mother snapped, raising her voice.
"I don't care! I like the surfers. One of my best friends is a surfer and I'm totally, madly, crazily in love with surfer!" Struts yelled back.
"Never trust a surfer! I did and look what happened!" Her mother cried, gesturing to her daughter.
Struts' face fell, her eyes glistening with tears.
Her mother realised what she had said and placed a hand on Struts' shoulder.
"No, I didn't mean-" Her mother back-tracked.
"Yes you did," Struts choked, tears beginning to fall.
"Stacy, please," Her mother comforted.
"I was just a mistake. You never wanted me. Neither did Dad, that's why he left." Struts scoffed.
"Don't talk about your father that way!" Her mother scolded.
"Mother, he's gone! He left us. He obviously didn't want to be a part of our family!" Struts angrily cried.
Her mother stood in silence.
"I can't believe you'd say that," Struts continued, her tears leaving tracks on her leather jacket as they fell.
"I was just mad-" Her mother tried.
"You got that right," Struts muttered.
"Excuse me?" Her mother questioned, now rather angry.
"You're mad! Insane! Totally demented!" Struts wailed, "No one normal would have said something like that to me!"
"Go to your room right now!" Her mother cried.
Struts ran past her mother, slamming the door behind her as she went.
Leaving her mother stood there, half angry at her daughter's behaviour yet she was still upset about what had just happened.
Struts stamped up the stairs and flung her bedroom door shut behind her with such force she feared it may come off its hinges.
The biker collapsed on her bed, grabbed her pillow and cried to her heart's content.
I hope you liked it!
The song I used is called There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease!
I thought that the song fitted the situation and since Grease is set in a similar time period to Wet Side Story, I thought that the type of song would work (Hairspray is set in a similar time period too).
I'd like to thank everyone who reviews, PMs and supports my story:
