Disclaimer: Still don't own it

At first, Mona couldn't believe what she had just heard.

Granted, she had long believed that the only real way to get rid of Alison was to kill her; but to hear it coming from Spencer was a surprise.

That had always been the final goal of Mona's at some point; to insure that Alison would never see the light of day for good. Originally, the teen just wanted the blonde to leave town so that she would never have to hear from her again; driven away once her secrets had been exposed to Rosewood's residents. The problem with that scenario though was that Alison could always spin everything to fit her narrative and make it like she was the victim. She would claim that she was the target of fraud, her parents would believe her and spend a massive amount of money getting rid of the evidence, and then things would return to normal. Even a murder charge would probably be beaten down by her given her talent to manipulate the authorities.

"Are you sure you want to do that? It's incredibly risky," Mona stated to her friend as she made sure her voice was lowered so that only the two of them could be heard. She couldn't risk her mother hearing their conversation since that would definitely get Mona sent back to Radley without a chance to protest.

"It needs to be done; that bitch has played people for the last time and we need to get rid of her before someone else winds up dead," Spencer pressed, as if her friend really needed to be convinced. While there was a chance that her friend might change her mind later, Mona would at least let things roll for now.

"Well, what do you propose?" inquired the shorter teen, curious if her friend had an actual idea on how to do the deed. Mona knew full well that her friend could come up with a plan on the lamb quite easily.

"Burying her alive sounds good; having it done on her own property sounds better," Spencer mused to her friend as she began to think about it some more. While she never considered herself a murderer in any given way, what she learned from Noel had pushed her over the edge.

"Well we can't risk having her discovered so we may need to find a place where she will never be found; after we have exposed her secrets to the world," remarked Mona as she looked around to see if anyone was listening; seeing that they were still alone.

"So in the middle of the woods somewhere?" Spencer asked, somewhat disappointed that she couldn't have the pleasure of knowing that Alison would be found on her own property. She did though understand where her friend was coming from since hiding the deed was more important than broadcasting it.

"Preferably; it would make Alison seem all more guilty since the police as well as the rest of the town would think she simply ran," pressed the shorter teen in order to make a point. It was preferable that the blonde not be found to add to the myth that she had fled as was hiding out in some part of the world.

"I know you are going to want and plan this out for the long term but what kind of timetable are we looking at; I want Alison gone before she causes even more damage," the taller teen said to her friend as she looked around them, just as paranoid as Mona was. They were after all discussing about murdering someone.

"Well, we are approaching the winter season so let us make this our Christmas present for the New Year. While we plan our perfect murder, we can drive the rest of the girls away from the group and isolate Alison; which will make her unstable and easy to manipulate," Mona proposed to her friend as she moved on to another plant to water. She had already taken care of all the plants that surrounded the property and was now focusing inwards.

"That sounds like a great plan; who do you want to work on first?" inquired Spencer as she pulled out her phone to see if Melissa had texted her yet; finding no messages. She liked the plan a lot since getting the other girls away from the blonde was needed; even though she still considered them her enemies.

"Why don't we multi-task; I will handle Emily while you work on Aria," proposed the teen as she pulled out a bottle of water out of one of the sleeves in her overalls. Even though it was a rather cool day, she was still slightly warm due to the sun beating down on her.

"Okay; how is your mom handling last night? Mine are talking about building a fence that might rival the great wall of Chine," informed the taller teen as she took the bottle of water that her friend just offered, taking a sip. After she was done, Spencer handed it back to Mona; who then stuck it back in one of the sleeve pockets.

"The usual; she is even talking about moving or sending me to my aunts a few towns over to get away from all the drama. She is afraid that I will relapse and that will go after Alison again," answered Mona offhandedly as she started to notice the attire her friend was in; finding it kind of attractive.

"Did you convince her that is a bad idea? You can't let her move you away," stated Spencer, slightly panicking at the thought of losing Mona since she was her only friend. Mona took a step forward and placed her hand on her friend's cheek as she gave a reassuring smile.

"I am not going anywhere; I told my mother that I was not going anywhere and she couldn't make me. I am staying to see this through to the end," soothed the teen as she caressed her friend's cheek, enjoying the touch of Spencer's skin.

When they had arrived home, Mona learned that her mother was already talking to her aunt about the teen staying with her for the duration of her highschool years. She had thrown a fit however and said that she was not going anywhere, even going as far as to threaten to move out and live on her own. That had not gone over well with her mother at all, which ended up in a yelling match to say the least. Technically, the law was on Mona's side though with her history with Radley, getting emancipated would prove to be tough; if she had to go that route. Luckily, Leona had backed off though the tension still remained. It had lessened in the morning when the older woman asked her daughter for her help in the yard; though there had been an eerie silence during breakfast.

"Come with me," Mona said suddenly after there had been a moment of quietness between the two with the sound of other yard work from the neighbors could be heard faintly in the background.

Dropping the hose onto the ground, Mona took the taller teen by the hand and led her to the small shed that lay on the side of the house. A pre-fabricated building, it was painted blue to match the color of the house and was slightly bigger than the one on the Hastings property. After opening the door, she practically pushed Spencer inside and then closed the door so that they could be alone. It was rather spacious inside with bags of soil stacked neatly on the wooden floor and the garden tools hung up on the shelves. It actually looked to be regularly cleaned given the lack of dirt and dust that were usually found in spaces such as this; there was even a lack of cobwebs in the ceiling. There were holes for proper airflow but were closed up with metal screens in order to prevent birds as well as insects getting in.

"Why are we here?" asked Spencer, slightly uncomfortable at being in such an isolated place with her friend. The teen didn't see the point of them being alone like this how since they had the backyard to themselves when they were discussing the plan to murder and isolate Alison.

"I want to talk about last night; we really need to since putting off this thing between us is no longer an option," answered the shorter teen as she took off the hat she was wearing as well as wiping the sweat of her brown with a rag she kept in her sleeve. Though Mona hated wearing overalls since they made her look like a bumpkin, they did have all sorts of useful pockets to store things.

"I am sorry; I just reacted in the moment," admitted Spencer, still embarrassed by the whole thing. Her cheeks reddened when Mona smiled sweetly to her and took a step forwards wile reaching out to cup Spencer's face.

"It's okay; I thought a lot about this and I want to do it. We do have to be careful and this should be our personal secret until we are in a better position to reveal it," Mona said to her friend as she embraced her. Truthfully, she had been up half the night on what she was going to say to Spencer in regards to their new relationship.

"I agree; I am not ready to come out and we need to make sure Alison is gone for good before doing so. I am just scared on how the others in school as well as our family will react," admitted the teen as she sounded slightly worried about it. She was almost sure that her parents would accept it as well as her sister; though there was still some doubt.

"You'll be fine; your parents are actually good people and will support you know matter what; also Melissa though she is still a bitch. As for the school, no one will really care once the blonde bitch is gone for good; she'll probably be the talk for the rest of our academic time there and we'll just be back of the page news," stated Mona in an attempt to reassure the other teen. She had no doubt that her peers at Rosewood High would be distracted by the real story of Alison for a long time.

"I suppose you are right," said Spencer reluctantly; though she still had her doubts. She hated that she was so nervous about the whole thing placed the blame on her former blonde friend; now placing the responsibilities of all her hardships on Alison.

"I am Mona Vanderwaal and I am always right," said the shorter teen as she brought Spencer closer to herself and leaned up to gently place her lips on hers. The taller teen returned the kiss and ignored the buzzing from her phone indicating that Melissa was on her way.

They were suddenly interrupted when the shed door opened and Leona appeared; her eyes bulging on what she was witnessing.

"I…uhh had something my eye. Melissa is on her way and I'll call you later," Spencer said quickly as she practically jumped away from Mona and fled from the shed; though she did give her friend a smile before disappearing from view.

"I am going to get something to eat," Mona said casually to her mother, who still seemed stunned. The teen left the older woman there and made her way into the house; trying to keep her emotions in check.

Before walking inside the back door that led to the kitchen, Mona slipped off the slightly muddy boots continued on in her socks. Going over to the refrigerator, the teen opened it up and grabbed the white ceramic bowel that contained tuna fish; which her mother had made for lunch earlier. Placing the bowel on the counter next to the sink, she went over to the cupboard and pulled out a plate as well as two pieces of bread. After making the sandwich and putting the tuna back inside the refrigerator, the teen grabbed some lemonade to go with it. Instead of putting the liquid into a picture, Leona had reused a bunch of water bottles so that she could drink while working in the garden. Once she had everything, Mona took a seat at the small table in the kitchen; silently eating her food until her mother appeared. The woman took off her own muddier boots and then closed the door; preparing herself some food as well.

"I now understand why you were so resistant to moving; how long has this been going on?"
Leona asked, trying to be as motherly as possible. What she had witness had caught the woman completely by surprise and was still wrapping her head around it.

"Just recently; last night was kind of our first kiss," Mona admitted to the older woman, being truthful though she wasn't in no way going to tell her mother the whole story. The teen knew her mother wouldn't in no way say anything and could talk to her about it.

"I will admit that I am genuinely surprised; this is not something I was expecting," Leona admitted herself. She had always assumed that her daughter was into boys though her relationship with Hanna had always been an interesting factor.

"Spencer and I didn't either; we're still figuring things out," stated the teen though it was a slight lie. While it was true they were still figuring things out, Mona and Spencer were adamant about their feelings for one another.

"Well you have my love and support always; though the rules apply now more than ever when it comes to sleepovers," stressed the older woman with a look that Mona knew all too well. The teen wasn't really bothered by it since that particular stage in her new relationship with Spencer was not even a factor at the moment.

"Thank you; we are keeping this secret for the time being. You are the only family member who knows," informed Mona in a tone that this was to stay between them. She had no plans to come out and agreed with Spencer that the situation with Alison needed to be resolved before even considering that reveal.

"I understand and if Spencer needs help with her parents or even a place to stay if the worst comes up, let her know," Leona told her daughter. She doubted that would be the case since the Hastings were not as ruthless as the town believed.

"Thank you; I will let Spencer know about your offer. I was going to head to school here soon since I forgot something in my locker. Are we done?" inquired the teen since the watering was done and she was pretty sure her mother didn't need her help with any planting.

"No, I am good. You are not going to visit Spencer?" asked the mother before taking another bit of her sandwich. She had joined her daughter at the table and faced the teen; who was just about done with her own food.

"Spencer is staying at the hotel at the club with her family and has a dinner with them tonight; so it's just me," answered Mona, sounding slightly disappointed. This was the first weekend in a long time that she was alone.

"Well that is unfortunate; did you want to do something with just the two of us? I have some movies saved on the hard drive and it has been a while since we have done anything together," the mother said, trying to remember their last mother-daughter night. It was definitely before Radley and was long overdue since her daughter was now in a relationship; thus moments like this would now be even rarer.

"That sounds good; I'll pick up some Japanese on the way home for school," Mona told her mother since that was the parent's favorite type of food and what they traditionally ate for night such as these. After her mother agreed, the teen went upstairs to change into something more appropriate for going out.

Once she was in her room, Mona dressed into a pink skirt and white blouse as well as a pair of simple blue tennis shoes. Applying only a little makeup, the teen grabbed her purse and went downstairs; telling her mother she was leaving and would text her when she arrived to grab the food. After giving Leona a quick hug, she walked out of the house and to her car. After getting inside and rolling down the windows, she started it up and backed out of the drive way. There was no traffic on her street so backing of her driveway out was not a problem; which was unusual for this time of day. There was a few out of town events going on however so it there was the possibility that everyone was attending. Even driving to school wasn't an issue and Mona got their in no time.

She had lied to her mother on her reason for heading to Rosewood High even though it was the weekend. The truth was that she needed to see someone; a person who was known to use the school pool for practice on the weekends. It was only allowed for a select few people; those who had the top grades as well as the members of the swim team. As Mona pulled into the school parking lot, she saw that the person's car was there in the front and the teen pulled up next to it. After getting out and locking the doors, the teen proceeded to where the gym area was in order to access the building where the pool was. There were only a few faculty members about and Mona smiled to all of them; who returned her smiles since they recognized who she was. The plus side of being a good student was that not one batted you a second eye. It was another two minutes before she arrived and used the side entrance, which was usually locked with a key as well as a code; Mona had both though.

Inside, the shorter teen found Paige McCullers swimming laps and headed towards her to propose something that would suit both their purposes.
