Chapter 51 King Cross Station
"Zabini"
Harry waited for the grieving man to turn, waiting for the strikes of fists, or even insulting words to leave from the man's mouth. He deserves all of it, even if he had never been in polite terms with the Slytherins.
"What do you want Potter?" But instead, Blaise's voice was dry, a defeated tone filled with agony. Slowly, Draco's bestfriend turned to look at him, to Harry's surprise-well, to think about it, not really, his eyes were red with unshed tears. Suddenly, the speech Harry had rehearsed in his mind a while ago, had vanished. He turned speechless, flabbergasted by the loyalty, and the friendship between his archenemy and it's croony.
To be honest, Draco Malfoy had ruined his impression to the Slytherin population. Ever since his first year in Hogwarts, he have always scoffed and get internal annoyance with the so called House, labeling them as snotty pureblooded bunch whom without any remorse and respect for the ones below them.
But he is wrong. Even for the cockroach that is Draco Malfoy.
Slytherins, although snotty, also have hearts that beat. That care. That love.
And he can see that now, much clearly. For starters, he will wholeheartedly put Professor Snape first in the line...
..After all this time.
"I-Well. Look, it's about Draco. I saw him out there"
"Are you making fun of me Potter?"
"Why would I?" Blaise turned back to the body of his bestfriend, heaving down defeated without any idea what to do next. He was lost, hating Draco for leaving his growing family behind, and hating Harry Potter for sparking a small hope inside. He knows that death would come, won't have any standard of who's to take, but still, It was cruel.
"We may not be friends, hardly even in good terms, but he's very important to Luna. I love her, not in the intimate way, but you know what I mean. Luna deserves better. But she loves him a lot much, and I will always believe in her no matter what. And I promised- I promised that I will protect him. I owe this to Luna, and to Clementine-" Inside Blaise's mind, he nodded silently. For Merlin's sake, Draco doesn't deserve even the tips of Luna's toenails. But seeing them together, strangely, with the splutter of rich black and green and colorful colors, they fit too well. Blaise had never seen Draco look so happy, so content and he believes that Luna was too. Luna accepted him all in all and Draco loved her beneath all those peculiar thoughts. To remove a love like that is like removing the only hope inside their dark, dark world. "-Please. Please let me do something"
Blaise turned, his face adjusting into his serious one.
"What is it?"
Draco woke up inside the train's compartment. He felt a slight shift of nausea hit his head, and his back was stiff and hurting like he fell-
Remembering what had happened, he stood up, his eyes wide with alert and confusion. He thought he was still in the battle grounds, infront of the dark lord but instead, he is not in a destruction site. Everything is bright, giving the impression of the winter being felt. He lifted his arms, testing anything to have an idea of what had happened and where in the world he is. He froze when he saw how pale his arms are; they are as white as the snow covered ground, as his fingertips are dry and violet.
"Draco Malfoy?" the doors of the train opened, the chilly air from outside whisked it's way in. To his confusion, he didn't felt or even reacted to the temperature. He simply stood dumbly, the impact of what is happening came nagging in his thoughts like a hurricane.
"Draco" The voice was from outside. He frowned deeply, nervous of the idea of what is lurking in the unknown.
'Where is he? Why is he even here?.'
He stepped outside, his black shoes squeaking to the marbled floor. As the sound of his shoes echoed all around the Express, a shadow appeared seven benches away from where he stood. Before the mysterious person could make their appearance, Draco surveyed his surroundings; realizing that he is in the King Cross Station, but in this version he is in, there aren't any people around, it is just him and this person coming closer.
"Who are you?" he immediately rose his hand to feel his wand, but it was not there.
"Where am I?" the panic was at it's peak. Not knowing what to do, he began to run.
"Stop. Stop!" His feet dragged and crossed, his footsteps echoing to the floor.
"Relax my boy, you will not be harmed" A small whisk of air brushed the back of his neck. Without any feeling of reaction, in another dimension, he might've got goosebumps. He knows that voice, how could he even forgot?.
"Professor?" he turned with his mouth agape. The Headmaster, who he had helped to be killed, was infront of him, speaking to him as if nothing between them had happened. The wise old man was looking at him with a serene smile upon his thin lips, looking at him with kindness and warmth. He haven't changed a lot; to Draco's shock, his change was like his; pale skinned and violet fingertips.
No, it cannot be.
"Am I dead?" he asked, mustered what was left of his courage and pride. He told himself not to show weakness, but as the thought came, the impact was powerful enough to make him stunned and worrisome.
"Yes, but not wholly" The late Headmaster rose both of his fair eyebrows, feeling the young man's agony and frustration. Dumbledore have been watching him ever since he was just eleven years old, waiting for Fate to do their part. He knows that Lucius Malfoy's child is more than a snotty pureblood, he is something more. And through the child of Xenophilius Lovegood; the peculiar smart girl, Draco Malfoy found his place, his solitude.
"How can that happen? Was it because I won against the dementors? "
Seeing the battle through visions, Draco Malfoy had truly surprised him. The power of love and sacrifice had beaten the pride and cowardice. Beyond the thick layers of his walls, Luna Lovegood had successfully crashed all of them and let the Draco Malfoy underneath to spring out. However, due to the thick layer of fog in Draco Malfoy's lifeline, he is certain that the lad is not done yet.
"The dementors were powerful enough to end your life Draco. I'm afraid the nightmare had almost consumed you whole" Draco had accepted that he would die, during the time span of falling almost in slow motion before his death. He thought that he would meet peace, be at ease once it was all over. But instead, all he had gathered was worry and longing.
Could it be, would he spend his entire 'after life' in this empty train station worrying and longing for his small family with only the man he helped being killed as his only companion? Is this his punishment for all of his sins? Was this the aftermath of everything he have done wrong? Would his soul suffer a never ending agony in this dimension?.
"Where are the others Professor? Can I atleast see my Uncle Rabastan?"
"I'm afraid you cannot young man. He is in another dimension where everybody had accepted and welcomed death. Whatever they have left in the world of living were already done, you however, still have something to prove"
Albus is certain there is a small glint that showed upon the cold eyes of the young man. Judging by Draco's eagerness of waking up, the Professor had relaxed his tensed muscles that he did not noticed he had tighten. "You are saying that I will live?"
Dumbledore sighed, if only that could happen without complication
"Fate can be your friend Draco, but I believe it's up to you if you will let it help you, or ruin you."
Judging by the glint in the Professor's eyes, Draco immediately knew that he would be tested. But he knows whatever will happen, he will try his hardest to nail this up.
Seeing Blaise, Potter, and Draco without any signs of argumentation is strange. But seeing the three of them with one's body on the ground and two frustrated wizards is stranger.
"Zabini, what is this?"
With a heavy sigh of sorrow, Pansy stepped into the conversation. The Gryffindor and the Slytherin looked at each other and simply ushered her to go closer. She groaned because of their request, seemingly irritated with the aspect of getting pulled out of fighting with her rage visible and pulsing.
"We need your help with something"
"I swear, if this is crap I'll kick both of your asses hard"
Strangely, with the situation where they are all grieving, Zabini has the 'decency' to roll his eyes at her.
"You see, our dear ol' Saint Potter here has a plan to wake Sleeping Beauty up" Pansy raised his eyebrow at the Boy Who Lived, a pissed off expression written upon her face. She truly feels like being in a prank, on where Zabini used Harry Potter to cover it all up. But whatever prank they are pulling unto her, is surely not a good one at all.
"Look, it may look like we're messing up with you, but he saw him inside that weird foretelling dimension right before he could disappear; meaning, he already saw Draco's soul in that, right before Draco had.. you know. His soul is somewhere in there, alive, but is being hindered from escaping. We have to get him back. This is a lose chance but whatever, I'm desperate okay? So help us Pans"
There was an ache inside her heart, a new and possibly false hope for a profound expectation. But despite the uneasiness, her mind fought back, believing in that tiny promise Harry had suggested them with. Down below, one of her bestfriends lay; Draco looks so peaceful, but deep down there is an ache inside him, she can just tell. Could she let him just rot into nothingness without a single memory to withhold to his daughter? Could she stand it, to deal with this pain knowing that two of her friends had lost their lives without a proper goodbye?.
"What would I do?"
For that, Harry explained her the process of the spell, each step earning him a nod from the brunette. She understood the concept, and where he is coming from. But, with this, it takes alot of bravery and courage, aka a big STUPIDITY. But it can work. Hopefully .
Blaise looked right at his' and Pansy's hands, gripping her right forearm tightly to his. She inhaled deeply, reciting her lines in her head like a mantra. They do not have any time for mistakes, their wizard for the job is highly needed a few blocks away, on where the chaos is happening
"Do you Blaise Zabini promise that you would not leave the between dimension without Draco Malfoy?" Harry stood infront of their intertwined hands, his wand igniting a thin red spark towards their skins.
"Yes"
Through Blaise's answer, the red spark released a gold loop, circulating brightly on their hands
"Promise to do whatever it takes to bring him back?"
"Yes"
The second was applied
"And help him get back in the Land of Living?"
"Yes, I will"
Then finally, the third was swirling crisscrossed to the two loops
Although the loops were swirling freely with spaces between them, the lines and curves of the loops dug lightly unto their skins, scratching smoothly. The impact of Harry's enchantment clings tightly unto them, securing the vow strongly
A minute right after the performed magic, the three nodded briskly to each other, sending their luck with eyes hopeful and determined. Without another word, they separated, each with a task in hand.
Blaise ran inside the castle, his nerves are all over the place. With his eyes searching, he fought his way to the redheaded Weasley. Right before he would rescue his bestfriend, or accompany him wherever he is if he failed, he needed to see Ginny one last time.
Through the Dining Hall, he saw her rushing to take a step in the battlefield, her bravery oozing out her fearless eyes as she readies herself for any attacks.
Before he had her, he had always watched her from afar, infatuated with her face and personality. She have always make him nervous, until now.
"Ginny!" he shouted, pushing off the death eaters roughly off of him.
Ginny's smile widen when she saw him, relief written all over her face
He reached her by his hand, clutching her arm tightly through his nerves. Ginny raised her eyebrow, questioning his sudden move but didn't make any vocalization for it.
"No matter what happens, promise me that you will trust me. Okay?. I'll be back" he glanced back and forth to his left and right. On his right side, he saw Bellatrix LeStrange mouthing a spell with eyes set upon Ginny. Backing his stare back to Ginny, he scooped her right in his arms, pulling her close to his face.
"What are you talking about Zabini?" without another word, he lifted her up from her feet, attaching his lips smoothly to hers.
The green light sparkled from Bellatrix's wand, floating freely towards them. Blaise twisted the girl clockwise, positioning himself to her position. He closed his eyes tightly, wrapping his arms around the girl and deepening the kiss to pour out his frustration and feelings towards that kiss.
"I-"
The spell hit his back, freezing his whole body as it traveled from his toes then to his scalp.
He stared at her panicked hazel eyes as he fell, her trickling tears falling slowly down to his face. He inhaled sharply, a big thug struck unto his heart, and his system stopped suddenly.
"Blaise!"
I promise
