Heading To The End Game Part 2

I have no ownership of the ATLA/LOK Series. I have nothing punny to say.

Republic City, Hobo Commune, Day

"Wake up."

I rolled over suppressing the urge get up. I'm not ready to react to reality yet. Leave me in my sleep cocoon and let me be.

The voice decided to invade my life again,"Yoh. Get. Up."

I groaned to put my pillow over my face,"He's not here at the moment. If you have a message for him please leave it at the snore. Basically fuck off."

"All right Korra, light it on fire."

I squeaked in shock flinging myself from the ground. I staggered a bit before collapsing back on the ground. I rolled over to see Lee and Bolin grinning down at me. I stared in shock at the two guys before taking a deep breath. I pulled myself back onto my feet and cracked my neck,"You get a head start. Fifteen seconds. Run."

The grins dissipated as Bolin spoke up backing up,"You're joking right?"

I took a stance pulling water from a puddle near us, "Nine seconds."

Lee snorted, though he followed Bolin's lead taking a step back,"He's joking. I think. Regardless we should probably go. We're talking about what to do now."

"Yeah. You should."

I finally left my sleeping spot. I didn't need anyone else messing with me today. Too early for that shit. I quickly got dressed. It took me a few minutes to decided whether to go in my police uniform or in my normal city clothes. DId I want to stand out to show Amon I wasn't scared. Maybe cause a distraction? Or should I go in casual wear and try and blend in.

As long as I kept my mouth shut. Which is unfortunately a lot harder than it looks. Sometimes the words just come tumbling out before I even think. Which explains way too much about the predicaments I get myself into.

I finally decided to just go in casual wear. My grey jacket, blue shirt, black trousers. I would look like any old sap in the city. I'd probably leave my satchel behind. Don't want to risk getting that in my way.

With that out of the way I quickly headed to the main area/square where everyone had gathered. Looked like they were going to head out. I waved at the group as they noticed me approaching. Bolin gave a weak wave while Lee just frowned.

Once I got close, Mako continued,"Now that everyone is here, we can finish discussing our plan."

I cut in raising my hand as if I was in school,"We have a plan now? I thought it was just waiting for the United Forces to do our job for us?"

Korra blushed,"That's... still the majority of the plan. But we're not gonna let them do all the heavy lifting! Once they get here we'll be alongside them busting heads! We'll help any way we can!"

I frowned before putting on a wooden face,"That is the most amazing plan I have ever heard. Truly you and Mako should go down in history as the great innovators of out time. I can already see the schools being named after you two. This plan will go down in the history books as-"

"OKAY I GET IT! But it's all we have at the moment! Do you have any ideas?!" ,Korra growled out at me. I took a step back raising my hands in surrender.

Calm down me! We're trying to be nice remember?

"I mean... No not really. But come on that's a thin plan! What if the United Forces get stopped?"

Asami decided to speak up frowning at me,"By what Yoh?"

I looked away from the frown,"No idea flying air things maybe?"

"Flying...Air things?"

"Okay bad example. Don't give me that look. It could happen! But-"

Korra spoke up again,"Well it's the only plan we've got! Let's head to the drainage pipes. From there we'll wait by the bay. Is everyone okay with this?"

Everyone else nodded before looking at me. I rolled my eyes before sighing,"Let's get this over with then."

Yue Bay, Republic City-Day

Mako peeked out from the drainage pipe,"Coast is clear."

Everyone quickly headed from the pipe, rushing up a stairway towards a close observation deck. As we crouched down I took in a deep breath and sighed a smile starting to form on my face. I stretched my legs letting out a content sound. Mako looked over at me, "What are you doing?"

Korra spoke up frowning,"Seriously once the United Forces arrive, we need to be ready to help. Why are you doing... all that?"

"It's been a while since I've been up here. I'm just enjoying the non sewer air. I know we're on a super secret plan except it's not really a plan, but I'm just content."

Asami rolled her eyes at me,"I'm so happy you could use the fact we're trying to stop a madman to brighten up your day."

I snorted looking over at her,"I know you don't mean it but thank you."

A smirk grew on her face before wiping it away quickly,"You are so welcome Yoh. I'm so happ-"

Mako's voice quickly cut through, "They're here!"

Our ribbing quickly stopped as we stopped to look to the bay. A large battalion of ships were heading slowly down the bay. It was an awesome sight. I'd have felt hopeful if I didn't have an idea of what was gpnna happen next.

Like... I hate Amon but this was a brilliant attack if you're not on the side getting their ass beat. But considering I'm rooting for Iroh and his army... fuck that masked douche canoe.

Lee noticed my face,"What's your problem? You should be happy the UF are coming to fuck up those assholes. What's up?"

I looked over at him,"There are no airships in the air. Or ships... and they had to have known the United Forces would eventually show up."

Mako nodded at me,"There's not even any mecha tanks, either. This is...odd"

I shared a glance with Mako before returning our sights to the sea. It quickly sunk into Lee's head as he followed our gaze,"Well... shit."

And that's when the mines started to go off.

It was a neat. In a horrifying people are dying kind of way.

Korra had quickly jumped into the bay, trying to get to the ships as soon as possible. She had to drag me along but I had refused. I'm not that good of a bender. Like I'm average at best. I'm good at bending the water to my dark will. And I could make a bunch of stuff out of ice fine. Other than that?

Nope.

I also remember the greenhouse incident. I don't think the acolytes truly ever forgave for that. I did offer to hel-

...You know what this isn't important at the moment. There's a terrorist attack happening at the moment.

Everyone stared in horror at the explosions crossing across the bay. I turned to them in confusion,"Did you really expect the Equalists to just leave the bay undefended? The mines are a bit much, but it shouldn't be shocking!"

Mako was the first to turn away from the massive splashes,"I- yeah you're right. We should've seen this coming. At least it can't get any worse..."

I took a few steps back in horror,"Why would say that!? Whenever people say that shit hits the fan! Am I the only one who notices this sh-"

Asami cut me off,"What's that sound?"

I let out a soft moan putting my face in my hands,"And here we go. Every spirits damn time... Damn you Murphy."

A rhythmic buzzing sound slowly grew louder and closer. We all quickly turned to see two fleets of airplanes race out from the city heading towards the bay and the United Forces fleet. Bolin let out a groan at the sight as the planes flew overhead,"Where does Hiroshi find the time to keep inventing new evil machines?!"

I tapped Asami on the shoulder as the sound quickly drowned out our voices. She looked over to me in confusion,"What Yoh?"

"I'm just saying...Flying air things."

"Is now really the time for this?!"

I rolled my eyes,"I mean... Unless you can fly, then yes I think this is the best time."

She frowned at me,"Fine you were right! You happy?!"

"Not really... people are being hurt 'Sami! What's wrong with you?!"

The glare on her face brought a smile to mine. I looked back over to the bay as I saw flames from Iroh and Korra's waterspout thingy attempting to stop the planes. If I remembered right there was going to a torpedo that would lau-

*BANG!*

And there it is.

As we watched Korra race off to try and help anyone left in the I saw her grab who I could only assume was Iroh, I turned to the others staring at the wreckage, I fake coughed to grab their attention. Mako turned to me,"What's wrong?"

I shrugged,"Just wanna know if you're still happy with our original plan. You know the whole just winging it and helping when we could? Because after seeing all this, I think it went pretty sideways. At least to me."

"...Is now really the time?"

"If not now then when? Because I feel like if I say this in front of the survivors I'll probably get some looks... Kinda like the ones you guys are sending my way now."

Republic City, Hobo Commune- Day

Iroh seemed to choke down a wince,"I was prepared to deal with Sato's mecha tanks, but not these new high-speed aircraft."

General Iroh was finally finishing up with his healing session from Korra. I'm not gonna lie I remember being kinda freaked out hearing Basco coming out of a full grown man. But when he showed up season two I think I just went with it. Now?

It was fucking freaky. I kept expecting to see Zuko brooding in a corner muttering about his honor.

As Korra and Iroh conversed, the others and I were just sitting around. Asami laying on my legs as we just talked about whether I was a prophet. I was obviously on the I am a god in human flesh. Asami was repeating that I got lucky and that I should just keep trying to keep my mouth shut.

I couldn't deny that.

Bolin and Mako were just listening throwing jabs my way.

Korra responded with a defeated sigh as she moved her magic healing water to the final wound on Iroh,"I know. Every time we think we have an advantage, Amon outsmarts us."

Asami sighed pulling herself up,"I know what that feels like. But we can't loose hope alright? There's always a way to win."

I spoke up,"Yeah even if he has machines that make me want to run screaming into the night!"

I frowned at her as she sent me a glare,"I'm agreeing with you! What?"

Iroh tried to suppress a laugh at the sight of us,"She's right. Even if Amon is winning so far, we're not out of the fight yet."

Bolin hopped up nodding profusely,"I like this man's confidence! So, how are we not out of the fight?Because it feels liked we are up a creek without a paddle! So I would really appreciate some positive news!"

Iroh frowned for second before he stood up clutching his wound. I shouldn't be surprised. Healing always leaves you feeling a bit tender.

"A second wave of reinforcements is on the way, but I need to warn them." He turned to Korra "Do you still have a way to get a message out?"

I spoke up before Korra could say a word,"I know a hobo with just the skills! But don't talk about the hobo society and their relationship with non-benders... doesn't end well. For anyone really."

"And who is the recipient of this top secret message?"

"Commander Bumi, Second division of the United Forces..."

I was rolling a can around in my hands as the message was sent off by my second favorite hobo. My number one was an earthbender name Kai. The dude was crazy but not sad mental illness crazy. Fun crazy. But regardless the message thing while important, left me with nothing to do. I don't really understand my everyone was just standing around Gommu. It's not like they'd have anything to add.

Iroh finally finished,"Now comes the hard part. We need to ground those air-crafts. Otherwise, Bumi's fleet would never be able to retake the city."

Mako nodded pulling our attention to the table next to the telegraph machine,"They flew in from this direction. The airfield must be somewhere over this mountain range. We need to hit it hard and fast."

Iroh nodded in agreement,"Everyone get ready, we leave at dawn."

As everyone started to head out I noticed Asami had lagged behind. As I turned around I heard her mutter darkly,"It's time to take down my father."

I stopped for a second before walking up to her placing my hands on her shoulders,"Okay Bat-woman calm down. When you talk like that you make it sound like you're going to go off on your own. And that's stupid. And I'm saying that's stupid. So you know it's really stupid!"

Asami frowned at me,"Bat-woman?"

"A story from my home... Regardless are you planning on going off on your own?"

"No! Obviously! I'm not that dumb! Unlike someone I know..."

"...Well all right then. As long as you're not planning to do anything stupid." I quickly turned around and headed in the direction of the group. Before I could another step a hand grabbed my shoulder. I turned my head to look behind me to see Asami glaring at me. I shook her hand to turn around and look at her.

"What now?"

"Really? You just trust me like that? What if I was lying to you about that. What if I was planning to run off on my own to talk or fight my dad?!"

I cocked an eyebrow at her,"...Are you planning on doing that?"

"No! That'd be insane? My father is insane driven by his hatred for benders... He probably wouldn't think twice about trying to take me out.", A sad quiver echoed through her voice.

"Okay first of all good! I'm happy you're not thinking like that. Dumb plans are my idea! Secondly he's your dad he wouldn't just take you out! He'd probably think about for a few seconds before doing it."

She giggled wiping her eyes,"A few seconds. Father of the year right there."

My sarcasm couldn't have been more obvious as I tried to contain my own cackling,"You won the lottery right there. Hiroshi is truly a man worth respecting. When I wake up in the morning I stop for a few seconds to think...What would Hiroshi do? I mean it usually devolves into violence and bigotry but..."

Our giggles evolved into a full grown laughing fit. I had collapsed on the ground trying to regain my breath Asami quickly dropping down next to me,"Stop it! That's horrible!"

"Hey if your smiling again it can't be all that bad. Let's catch up up with the others before they think we ran off for a romantic getaway."

She snickered a final time before she pulled herself to her feet,"Yes, because we're so compatible."

"There's no need for the sarcasm. That laugh already destroyed my pride."

"I'm sick and tired of hiding from Amon! It's time I face him."

I let out a groan as Asami and I rejoined the group,"Good God now what?"

Iroh turned to me,"Korra wants to go off an confront Amon. I was just saying that this is not a mission she should be handling alone."

I nodded,"Yeah obviously. Even the avatar would have trouble fighting the dude who can take away bending. One wrong move and we're boned. You can't go alone."

A smile grew on her face as she took my hands and pulled me into a headlock,"Yeah! That's why I want yo-"

Mako's voice cut Korra off,"She won't be! I'll go with her."

A smile grew on my face as I pulled myself from Korra's grasp,"Awesome! Now Korra can go face mask man. And the rest of us can wipe out those air thingies place! Go Team Avatar!"

Korra frowned at me before turning to Mako,"You don't have to do that."

Mako shook his head,"Yes I do. After all you've done for us. Helping us advance in the pro-bending tournament, helping when Bolin got kidnapped, and when you convinced Tenzin to let us live on Air Temple! I owe you... a lot."

Korra looked at him in shock before a smile grew on her face,"Fine. But don't say I didn't try and stop you."

As I quietly slipped away Iroh laughed at the scene,".. My grandfather would respect the Avatar's instinct. So will I. Be safe Avatar Korra."

"Be safe Bro."

"Love you too, little bro."

Mako and Bolin were having a final goodbye before they split up. Mako and Korra were heading to Air Temple Island to confront Amon. Bolin, Asami, Iroh, and I were heading to the Airplane factory to put it out of order to allow safe passage for the UF reinforcements. Lee decided to stay with the hobo commune.

I walked over to Lee. He was sitting on a stool next to a shack leaning against it watching the goodbyes. I took a lean on the wall next to him,"So why'd you decide to stay behind? I doubt it's out of the goodness from your heart."

He smirked before returning his gaze to the crowd around Korra and the others,"What I can't be a hero too? Want to do something ni-"

"The hoboes can defend themselves. What's your angle?"

He rolled his eyes,"I'm just trying to survive all right? If you guys succeed I get to go around and say I defended the resistance's secret hideout. No way a cop will give any shit. Who's gonna try and arrest a member of team Avatar? And if things go wrong I can just sneak out of the city. These pipes go for miles and almost every direction..."

I stared at him before I laughed,"That's fucking genius. No bullshit I kinda wish I had thought of that first. Damn."

"Well we can't both be masterminds. Good luck though, my grandmother would be pissed if you died. I would laugh when she wasn't looking."

"We're gonna be best friends aren't we?"

"Unfortunately."

I finally walked up to Korra and Mako. She and Mako had changed back into their Equalist uniforms to get on the Island. I laughed at the sight,"I see you two are in your fascist uniform again! I approve of this decision. Amazing plan so far. Hopefully you have a better plan than earlier."

She rolled her eyes at me,"I can only promise to try and reach your high standards Yoh."

Mako snorted,"It's a much better plan than earlier Yoh. We're going to the island and then we're going to do things to stop Amon. See better plan!"

I laughed,"Well it as nice knowing you two. Stay Safe."

Mako stopped me with a hand to my shoulder,"Take good care of Bolin for me."

I nodded,"All we're doing is assaulting an Equalist factory that are building flying death machines. It'll go fine! Probably... Regardless I'll try to keep him safe."

"Thanks."

I nodded before I headed over to Asami, Bolin, and discount Zuko. Thankfully Asami had brought Naga. Thankfully I had remembered how far the base was. So I brought up the idea of taking Naga.

Mako and Korra had quickly approved. As I hopped on the giant dog monster I saw Asami and Mako hug and kiss before they headed to their missions. Asami hopped onto Naga behind me. Her head dropped onto my shoulder. I looked back at her,"You okay?"

"Just worried. The two of them are heading against Amon. I'm just worried."

"Well if it makes you feel better Amon won't kill them. Just make an example out of them. What would terrify the world more than taking the Avatar's bending?"

She lifted her head to glare at me,"Wow thank you Yoh."

"No problem 'Sami. I'm here to help!"

"Spirits help me..."
