Bourne:
The second the door closed behind me, my biotics surrounded me fully, and I didn't even take three steps before teleporting outside the ship onto the docking bay. I never thought I would have said it, but if at that moment Iron were to show up, I think I'd actually be relieved to see him. A little normalcy in this otherwise upside down world.
I looked over the edge, but decided to get into the elevator instead of jumping. At that point, I didn't trust myself to slow down enough to survive the fall.
Hell, I'd be happy to see my version of Garrus or Tali. Let alone Ash or Raptor. I shook my head. If we fail here, I never will again. But at this point, how the hell are we supposed to succeed? Ty's already going to die and if we're lucky be brought back. Then apparently he'll have to save my ass, and at this point, I don't know why the hell he would.
Then again, at this rate I might end up being the cause of his death because I snap and shoot him in the head…actually that's pretty unrealistic. I'd be more likely to aim for his crotch.
And to say I never even try to have fun?...okay, trying is accurate. But never wanting to is another matter. He's just too...Ty so it ticks me off and makes me want to strangle him or otherwise employ violence.
Hell, I'm perfectly capable of relaxing. It's just that with all the crap flying at us lately, I've been too tense to relax and watch a movie, or play some solitaire or read a book or anything.
I slumped against the wall as I waited for the doors to open. "I hate this universe."
The doors slid open, and I half expected to find some member of the ground team there, but luckily it was early enough hardly anyone was around. I dialed up the nearest rapid transit terminal to head to Flux. I wanted to either get too drunk to remember why I was so pissed, or else get in a fight and take out the aggression on someone stupid. Wonder if that one Turian would be around in this universe?
"So, how have you been holding up?"
I just sighed at the voice.
"Wow, really piss poor huh? You didn't even turn and shoot me, or insult me or anything!"
I turned to face Iron, idly tossing a knife between my hands. "What this time?"
"Why do you always assume I'm here because I want to kill- Ah, that was my fucking kneecap you son of a bitch!"
"You're the one that was complaining that I didn't shoot you when you showed up."
He pulled it out with a wince, wound already healing. "I actually was here to talk to you….well, actually I was looking for a hooker or someone to strangle, but when I saw you I just wanted to talk."
"Talk about what, how much fun it is to kill babies?"
"Actually, about how much this universe sucks."
I raised an eyebrow. "You realize you're basically an uglier version of deadpool with biotics now, right? What the hell are you complaining about?"
His scarred up face actually looked depressed. "Let me put it this way. You've seen what I can do with the reality warping. And you've seen what someone with Saren's powers can do. It's kinda annoying to go from being the closest thing to a god in the universe to...a biotic lackey."
I shook my head. "I think I actually prefered having you in my head to having to deal with Ty."
"...I think I'm a little insulted." He shrugged. "What's he been doing on your end?"
"Iron, the only reason I'm not shooting you right now is because it won't work. That doesn't mean I don't still hate your guts."
"What, do you think I'm suddenly all buddy buddy with you?"
"Point taken. Let's see, he has his own apartment in the Normandy- like literally, an entire apartment in another dimension, an entire wall of weapons from other video games, everyone on the ship thinks I'm a bigger idiot than he is-"
"For once, I kinda have to say someone is a bigger idiot than you."
"And on top of that, Tali was crushing on me, and I had to break her heart."
His jaw dropped. "Tali had a crush on- man, bet that was awkward." He looked pointed at my covered scar. "Nice jacket by the way. Look a lot better with an omega though."
I noticed then that he wasn't wearing armor. "What, is this your day off?"
He shrugged. "My armor kinda disintegrated in the sun. Had to biotic charge to the nearby relay and get sucked along that."
"...you biotic charged into a mass relay?"
"No. But the truth is boring. Anyway, now I'm just waiting for a pickup from his holiness Saren. Guy's a bloody psycho…with the powers of a god I mean. We both know I'm just as nuts."
"I think you've got him beaten by a fair margin."
"Debatable." He said with a chuckle. "Want to go get wasted?"
"...you really think I'd go somewhere and drink with you of all people?"
"Actually, I'm just seeing how long we can go before we try to kill each other again. I think we've broken the record."
I looked at him for a moment before activating both lashes and bitch slapping him across the room, hard enough that his neck snapped when he hit. "Oh, pity. Just a few seconds short."
He got up with a chuckle. "Relax. I'm not planning on killing you."
I gave him a skeptical look.
"If I'd wanted to kill you right here and now, I could have charged you while your back was turned. But with how personal you've made it…I'd rather have your death be a little more...theatrical."
"...do I look like an idiot or something?"
"Well, your face looks a lot like mine, and you tend to call me an idiot, so…"
^See, even Iron goes for style points.^
(Not usually. He just really pissed me off, so I don't want to just kill him, I want to break him first. Make him watch as I destroy everything he cares about. And then- Oh come on? Again! New rule! NO KNIVES TO THE CROTCH!...and you just throw another instead. Of course.)
I looked at the rapid transit cab as it landed, and glanced over at Iron, then put him in stasis as he took a step my way. I let the door closed, but maintained the field, figuring I'd eventually get out of range.
(So, you're just leaving the homicidal maniac in the middle of C-sec?)
)Yep.(
(...wow. You really are messed up from all this, huh?)
)Gee, you figure that out yourself?(
^So, real quick question Iron. Why are you working for Saren?^
)You know, I've wondered that myself, since you were, you know, trying to murder him last time.(
(Oh like you didn't want him dead as much as me.)
^Well, I'm just wondering what benefits Saren gives. Do you get dental, medical, maternal leave?^
(Why the hell would I get maternal leave?)
)Yeah, he'd have to get laid before he'd need to worry about that.(
(...I. Hooked up. With. Miranda. With the facial scars! What the hell do you say to that?)
)Funny. I never knew she was blind.(
(Argh. You want to know the reason I joined up with Saren? There's two. One, I like killing or helping to kill. And the reapers would do that better than anyone. Secondly...that dude is fucking scary man. Like, seriously scary.)
^But does he offer you benefits? The center of a good work force is keeping them healthy and happy.^
(He give the geth an oil change once a month for free.)
^... that's terrible. Y'all should strike. Form a union and strike. The guy is basically extorting you as slave labor.^
(...how the fuck have you not killed him yet Bourne?)
)I have no idea.(
^Fine, I just thought you would want to get your equal share you pussy.^
(Dude. Do I look like the type of guy that cares about goddamn cavities?)
^No, but then again you look like the type of guy that would know when he is being ripped off.^
)He's getting paid to kill people. That's like you or I getting paid to play video games.(
(Yeah, exactly.)
^Well, do you at least have a retirement plan for when the galaxy is.. you know, out of life to kill?^
(I don't think Saren's thought much beyond that, and I don't really want to talk to him more than I have to…like I said, he is one scary mofo. Like, your ex is scary with what she can do, but at least she's got the rockin bod to go with it so I can distract myself. And your current flame is scary, but she's also still human and looks like- well, you know. Saren is just really freaking scary. Hell, the only way he could be scarier is if he gets half his face blown off again!)
^Now, I want you to realize something real quick with everything you just described about Saren and Layla.^
(...what, did Saren sleep with you too?)
^... You did what!?^
)I think he means that you slept with Layla, and is suggesting you also slept with Saren as the commonality.(
(Heh, you sound like a nerd when you talk like that. But yeah.)
^Iron, I beat them both.^
)I'm not sure you can really call what happened with her winning.(
(And even this dumbass beat Saren. Why would it impress me that you did?)
^Because, I'm not just going to do it again. I'm going to bury them in a casket I make from your and Hero's bloody fucking corpses.^
(...Hero? What got you so pissed at her?)
)I think she's gone a little nuts from all of this code stuff.(
^Yeah, and she is trying to talk to me right now and making me more pissed. I don't even know what the fuck she is saying because all I can hear is all the blood rushing in my ears.^
(...Didn't you like, want to sleep with her at some point before?)
^What, no.^
)I think he wanted to punch her in the face, actually. Because he did. Along with setting her on fire.(
(Please tell me you have this recorded.)
^I do and Cecelia has it too.^
(Sweet.)
)...nope, still barely hate Iron more. But you're getting closer.(
^Whatever. So, Iron, what are you doing on the Citadel?^
(Waiting for a pickup so I can get to...wherever the hell Saren sends me next. Asshole never tells me anything.)
^Do you need to go to counseling together or something to get him to open up to you more?^
(Last time I suggested that, he cut my tongue out, and stitched my lips together…no wait, that was that movie I watched that one time.)
)Why don't you two go hang out or something instead of annoying the crap out of me?(
(You're only saying that because you're half hoping one of us kills the other.)
)What do you mean half hoping?(
^I don't think Iron could keep up with me.^
(You wanna bet?)
^You drink three drinks and about pass out.^
(I do not!...I think those bartenders kept slipping something into my drinks.)
^That was one batarian, one time.^
(Yeah, but you never saw the way that Turian in dark star was looking at me. Dude totally wanted me.)
^Uh, I have played through the game like seventy-five times. No, he didn't.^
)Just let him have his delusions and laugh at him when they don't pan out.(
^Fine, Iron, I challenge you to a drinking contest. Loser is the first to pass out.^
(Deal...but only if Bourne-) )No.(
^Only if Bourne what?^
(Only if he begs me to leave him alon-) )Iron, I ask thee on my knees to please have mercy on me and go bother someone else.(
(...Wow. I didn't think he'd actually do it.)
)You haven't been on the Normandy for the last few weeks.(
^Wooh, I need to grab a sharpie.^
(What, is someone passed out drunk and just begging to have something drawn on their face? Or do you plan on shoving it into their throat so they can't breath and die?)
^Well, you are going to be passed out drunk when we are done and I might do the second thing to Hero if she doesn't stop talking.^
)I don't think anything you can do with a Sharpie can make his face look any worse.(
(Yeah. It already looks like Bourne's…also, did you seriously just not even pretend to care that he might kill Hero?)
)At this point, I find it hard to care about anything unless it involves alcohol.(
^Just wait till you wake up after this Iron. Either you will hate me more or laugh your pants off or both.^
)Probably hate you.( (Yep.)
^So, where do we meet?^
)I already called Chora's den, so y'all can find somewhere else.(
(Damnit. I liked it there. There were so many half-naked women to look at...and lure out back to kill.)
)Ty, do me a favor and make sure he doesn't kill anyone we don't know.(
^Fuck it, I want to see half naked women when I am drinking. Let's go to Chora's den.^
)Fine. Flux it is.( I forced open the door to the aircar and teleported to the closest level, deciding to just walk there and maybe get to deal with anyone dumb enough to try to mug me.
^So, whiskey, rum, or tequila?^
I blocked them both out, not wanting to hear any more and hoping I'd be out of range when I got to Flux.
I swear, at this point I'm going to be waiting for Ty to die.
Ty:
I sat across from Iron in Chora's Den and toasted him my seventh shot and then downed it with one gulp. After that I flipped it over on my stack and made a perfect pyramid.
"So, how's that fifth one coming?"
He raised it to his lips and then promptly fell out of the chair out cold.
I stood up and walked over to him, pulling the Sharpie out as I did. Quickly, I drew a handle bar mustache on his upper lip and followed it up with big blocky eyebrows and a monocle that had a string lacing all the way down his neck and into the neck of his armor. With all this, I topped it off by writing 'can't hold my alcohol' on his forehead.
"Well, that takes care of that… now what do I do?" I stood up and looked around realizing that I was here alone without any of the crew. "And I'm talking to myself."
I shrugged and sat back down at my chair and drank another shot. Everything felt completely dead to me by this point. For the first time since forever, I truly gave up on something. At the same time of the burden being lifted off my shoulders it also made my stomach twist with regret.
Nothing made me feel better but like it always did, alcohol was numbing it. The more I drank the more I began to forget and lose track of everything around me. By my twelfth shot I realized that I was officially seeing doubles and that meant I was in no shape to take on Iron if he woke up and decided to go ballistic.
At this point I just sat back in my chair and stopped ordering drinks. Instead, I just watched the dancers as they shook it up on the stage. Shortly after that,, Garrus walked in through the front door and must have thought it a good idea to sit with me and the random man passed out on the floor.
He took the seat that Iron was sitting in and motioned for the waitress to bring him a drink. "So, why is there a man on the floor and did you kill him."
I laughed and kept watching the Asari. "Check his forehead."
"...ah. Who is this guy?"
"An asshole who can't hold his alcohol."
"...maybe the stuff you drew on his face is throwing me off, but he looks a lot like Bourne."
"Close, but no cigar. It's Iron."
"...and you're drinking with him. After he tried to kill you?"
I wagged my finger at him. "No, I was drinking him under the table. Completely different subject."
"You're still just acting normal with someone that tried to kill you."
"Best I can, yeah."
"...are you humans just all nuts or something? Because I've yet to meet any I'd call sane."
"When you have powers as I do, do you really think that you should fear someone who tries to kill you?"
He shrugged. "Even the most powerful can be taken down if they're stupid about it."
"Eh, I figure it's more of if they become unfocused on the task at hand."
"Like if they become drunk?"
"The task was to drink him under the table and I did so. He didn't even have five shots in him."
"The task should have been eliminating the threat."
"Well, the threat is on the ground and passed out. I'd call that eliminated temporarily. Way to go. It was a team effort."
He looked at him for a moment, before looking around at the bouncers and apparently deciding not to finish him off with witnesses.
"Want to go throw him off the bridge out there?"
He thought for a moment. "Sure."
I quickly gestured to him to wait. "Actually, got any of the sober up stuff? I don't think that I will be able to stand for a while."
"Chakwas was out...something about Bourne smearing it on the wall?"
"Son-of-a-bitch, well, give me an hour and then we can move him I guess." The waitress brought Garrus his drink and I stopped her from leaving. "Hey, I need water. Lots of water."
She just sighed in a way that suggested it was something she'd heard many times before."Coming right up."
"Okay, now I just have to dilute the poison in my system."
"Can't you just use your powers to make yourself less drunk?" Garrus asked.
"Nope."
"So you've tried and failed?"
"No, it's more of programming and reversing an effect."
He glanced around, but nobody was close enough to hear. "If you can change DNA, can't you just increase your tolerance until the alcohol is out of your system and then put it back to normal?"
"No, but I could try and make the sobering stuff out of water." I was kicking myself for not thinking of what Garrus said but then again, did I really want to get rid of something that followed me from the real world? Even if it was something like alcohol tolerance.
"That could work too."
The waiter brought me my first water and I stuck my finger in it and began stirring the liquid. I saw as the cybernetic veins began to jump out from my finger and all throughout the water. I focused on what I knew about the juice but at the same time began wondering if I could just make it a drink with a sobering effect.
"So, how is life going?"
"Could be worse."
"So, who did you bet on earlier?"
His face twisted into what was obviously irritation. "Hannah's team."
"Hehehehehe, figures." The glass took on a deep blue hue to it as it changed but yellow started to mix in.
"Can't say I like the guy, but I gotta give him credit. He's one tough son of a varren."
I looked at Garrus with a raised eyebrow. "Son of a varren? You aliens just have to adapt perfect human saying don't you. It's son of a bitch."
"Whatever."
"Not whatever, say it right."
"Or what, you'll turn me into a Krogan?" A krogan that happened to be walking by gave him a stink eye for that.
"No, I was thinking Volus." Another good point, could I change someone's species?
"...Like I was saying, Bourne's one tough son of a bitch."
"Indeed he is." I looked down at the drink and saw that the cocktail was green. "Okay, I just have to drink this and then we can ditch the loser."
Tali:
Tali yawned as her sleeping pod opened, then winced at the brightness of the light. I knew I should've stopped after the seventh drink.
She began to worry there was work to do but they were on shore leave. Not that there's anyone to spend it with anymore.
She began to think she better just go to bed again but her stomach growled and she figured it was time for breakfast.
She headed for the mess hall and picked up a dextro ration pack, hooking it up to her mask. Cecelia sat down across from her with a human pack and looked disappointed as she ate the food.
"Something wrong?"
"The food tastes like blah."
"...doesn't it always taste pretty much the same?"
She sat the fork down in her food and sighed. "Once you have a home cooked meal it kind of sucks to eat anything but. And Ty took off before cooking anything so I am going to kill him when he gets back."
"Need help?"
She laughed a bit. "Nah, I can do it myself. After all, I'm the psycho bitch remember?"
"Yeah, but I'm in the mood to punch someone...for starters."
"Why?"
"Bourne." She said it with venom in her tone.
"Oh, my god. Tali, get over it. It was acceptable for a little bit but you just need to just stop. Seriously, you're a woman. You can bury whatever a man does to you down inside you forever."
"That's the trouble. Bourne's more like a child."
"And?"
She shrugged. "I was trying to make a joke."
Shepard continued to eat. "So, want to do something fun today?"
"Like what?
She shrugged. "I don't know. Anything you want to do?"
"I'm not used to having so much free time." She said with a shrug. "I already used up all my ideas."
"Yeah, this is the last day of shore leave so… We could go load up on supplies."
"You don't think I'm that boring do you?"
She shrugged and took another bite. "Why?"
"We can think of something more fun than getting supplies."
"Fine, you think of something."
Tali pursed her lips together, then she got an idea. "What about arranging another fight? Between Bourne and Ty?"
She leaned back in her chair and thought about it. "Naw, we are too close to a mission to do that and not worry about injuries affecting the team."
Tali agreed after a moment. "Yeah. Not to mention the ship itself."
"You know, I would assume that you would have thought about that before suggesting that."
"Ty could have fixed it if we'd done it on day one."
"Not if he got beat."
"Pretty big if."
Shepard fake gasped. "Oh, are you saying that your lover Bourne couldn't defeat Ty? Scandalous."
"Isn't it said that murder is the ultimate crime of passion? Because like I said- besides, it's the same thing as Hannah vs Ty. Biotics just can't compete with what he can do."
"Kind of wish I could get what he can do. I think that might be one of the things keeping him or me from doing anything. I mean, he is able to go inside my head and walk around in my subconscious."
"...what?"
She made a circular motion around her head. "Yeah, he was up in here."
"The more I know about him, the more I don't want to know about him."
"The more I know about him the more I wonder why he hasn't gone mad with power."
She shrugged. "Good question. Not sure I really want to know though."
"I do, a human desire is to take and be ambitious. Ty seems to have somehow fought off the urge or maybe he is just too stupid to realize that he could." She noticed Shepard was biting her lip like it had become apparent whenever she was agitated.
Tali hesitated. "Are you sure he's actually still human?"
"I wish I know that too. Can you still be considered human if you are made of a cluster of nanites? I mean, he isn't human but at his heart he is."
"Maybe that's the answer then. He's human enough to have a few bad traits, but inhuman enough to miss others."
"The only thing he seems to be ambitious about is winning though. What defines winning?"
"For quarians, winning usually means contributing to the overall good of the quarian people. I don't know about humans."
"It means the individual coming out on top." She was biting her lip so hard now that it was looking like she was going to break the skin or leave a mark. "What if winning means betraying us to him but no he wouldn't do that."
Tali didn't answer, because she wasn't so sure. When she'd seen Ty truly angry...he was scarier than Iron and Bourne combined.
"Hell, I'm not sure he can comprehend love."
"Why would you think that?"
"Every advance I have made on him he shot down. It's like he knows he could but doesn't want to."
She hesitated. "There was a rumor that after we found that cerberus ship, you took him into your room and…"
Shepard immediately broke out laughing. "Oh god, I wish that was what happened. I showed him a video about him."
"The one from the ship?"
"Yep."
She thought for a moment. "But you have actually told him that you're...Well, I know you've kissed him a few times, but have you said anything to reinforce that?"
Shepard tilted her head in question. "What else is there?"
"The only thing I really know about romance comes from movies, I'm clueless otherwise."
"Romance movie? You mean there is others besides action and adventure?"
Tali couldn't tell if she was being serious or not, so she elected to not reply to that. "Maybe you just need to tie him up and have you way with him. That's worked in a couple asari films I've caught Joker watching."
Shepard gave her a flat look. "Yeah, what happens in the movies you watch?"
"Um...well...they usually end with them falling in love after some huge thing splits them apart and they have to overcome it to get back together."
"Anything else? Anything basic? We've kissed, hugged, but missed the big thing."
She looked over the commander's shoulder at Ty's door. "Didn't you spend the night in there?"
"Yeah, and he didn't go to bed until hours after I fell asleep."
Tali shrugged. "I'm out of ideas then…why do I get the feeling I'm missing something obvious?"
"Well, Ty seems old fashioned. Like really old fashioned. Don't suppose you have seen any movies from the millenium years of earth?"
She shook her head no.
"Do you know anything then that Quarians do? Like any big moments in a relationship for you?"
"Well, when we really trust someone we might link suits with them."
"Is that all?"
Tali knew she was missing something, and that when Cecelia actually said it, she was going to hate herself for not figuring it out.
"I loath him, sometimes."
"Is there anyone on the ship that doesn't?"
"And other times I think I…" She noticed Shepard began to blush and for once she was the one that someone was coming to with a problem.
"You think you…?" She waved a hand, prompting her.
"Have other feelings for him."
Tali had been right; she did hate herself. "You mean you've never said you love each other."
"People actually say that to each other? I thought it was just a thing that some guys yell during sex." It could have been a joke but the way that she was pondering it Tali could tell it was anything but.
"...I'm pretty sure they actually say that, yeah."
"Huh, well, that's new."
"You know-" Both heads whipped around to see Hannah standing at the far end of the table. "That's one thing my so called "Lizard" said to me a few times." She smiled in a very mocking way. "Too bad none of your hook ups have happened without drugs or money, huh?"
"Calling me a whore is the top of the list to getting kicked off the ship Hannah."
"I wasn't." She smiled again. "Whores still have some class."
Cecelia pulled a gun from what seemed like nowhere and before Hannah could react she fired a shot that skimmed from right below her lips to the bottom of her ear. "I could have killed you there but I didn't."
Biotics surrounded her, but she looked more amused than threatening. "I could say the same about you any time we're in the same room."
"Are you trying to make me kill you?" Cecelia seemed to be watching the blood begin to ooze from Hannah's wound and onto the floor.
She calmly activated her omni-tool and applied medi-gel to her cheek, though it was obvious there'd be a scar. "You know, it's funny. I didn't hear you actually denying it."
"If you think I won't pull this trigger right now, I'm more than happy to prove you wrong." With that, she pulled another pistol out from the other side of her jacket and blasted both of Hannah's kneecaps, making her fall to the floor and catch herself with her hands. "If I am a whore, then I am the whore you bow to, bitch."
"No. You're the psychopathic, ignorant, butchering slut I tolerate." She smiled again. "I guess you're not really a whore after all. If you were, you would have actually gotten some action by now, if out of pity if nothing else."
To Tali, Cecelia seemed to have a red glow coming off her as she blasted Hannah's right elbow and made her roll over onto her back. Then she placed her foot on her chest and began applying pressure. She even noticed Hananh begin to struggle to breath.
"You are on my ship." She brought her foot up and slammed it down on Hannah's chest making a couple cracking sounds ring through the mess hall. "Generally, that means that you are supposed to show some respect toward me. However, since you don't you have an hour to pack your things and get off." Cecelia brought her hand to her ear and began broadcasting through the entire ship. "All crew alert, all crewmembers seen aiding or giving medical attention to Hannah Swan will be dishonorably discharged from the Normandy."
There was the briefest of pauses before Bourne was suddenly standing in the mess hall, gun in hand as he took in the scene.
"You don't even have the guts to finish me off?" Hannah wheezed. "You're more pathetic than I thought!"
Cecelia pointed at Bourne. "It's because of the respect I hold for him and the respect he holds for you that I haven't killed you."
Of all things, Bourne's face curled into a look of distaste. "I think I lost that respect a few minutes ago when I...got a message from her." He crossed the short distance, eyes blazing redder with every step. "After all of this, everything you've survived...I didn't think you'd be weak enough to try to get someone to do what Leng couldn't."
Hannah's eyes flashed at the name, but Bourne continued. "I should have seen it sooner. The reason you've been aggravating Ty, picking fights...you've given up. You'd rather have it all be over than fight on."
He spat on the ground in disgust, barely missing her.
Hannah's lips curled into that same insane smile again. "You know, back when we first met...I should have taken over."
Bourne visibly was shocked.
"What have you managed except letting your own team mates get killed, made them hate you, and made others sacrifice themselves for you. You're not a Hero, or even like Iron- he admits to what he is. You just deny-"
She was cut off as Bourne's gun appeared in his hand, and he dropped to one knee, shoving the end in her open mouth.
"You know what I think!?" Tali looked to the entrance and saw that Garrus was struggling to hold Ty up and he glared at everyone while trying not to laugh. Obviously drunk.
Bourne glared at Hero for another minute before taking the gun away. "Please. Mystify us all with your brilliance."
Ty stumbled around the room until grabbed Cecelia around the neck and leaned on her. "I think you are too daft to know what I want out of a relationship." He then let go and fell forward on the table across from Tali. "You need to realize who the hell you are and stop trying to be someone else or try to get someone to help you create a personality." He pushed himself up and stumbled over to Bourne. "You need to lighten up and realize that a smile at any time can go a long way." He then walked forward and fell on Hannah perpendicular to her but brought his hand up and pointed at her so everyone knew who he was talking about. "You need to stop moping around and realize that life is a gift and if you treat it like a curse then it will be one." He then pointed to himself. "I am the worst out of all of us though."
Bourne lifted him and tossed him against the far wall without even looking at him. "You know what Hannah? I've never so much wanted to pull a trigger in my life. Not out of hatred for Saren, or even pity for a dying matriarch. Not even when I've had it aimed at Iron. But this time, it's not either. It's disgust. You went from the person I would have followed into hell itself, who I'd have trusted with my very soul...to a washed up has been who's given up on life." The gun disappeared up his sleeve. "But you're not worth wasting the effort on. You're not worth wasting another breath on either."
"Your right, so let's waste drinks on her and everyone here. On me." Ty called as he stood up from where he landed.
"Ty on the other hand I'm totally willing to waste energy to blast into other wall." Bourne shook his head in disgust and turned to Cecelia. "Do what you want to her. I don't care any more." He started walking away, but stopped as Ty spoke up again.
"Yes, he does. We all care what happens to each other. Seriously, you all, and I mean all need to learn how to fucking just accept it." Ty stumbled over and sat back in the chair. "Seriously, I'm not the best so I am going to give up on life? Or how about mister, I give up on you for trying to get yourself killed? Cecelia, lady cannot seem to read the emotions of other people. And I, sir worst of the bunch. We all need to get together and form a kingdom. Then we can all have our own pity party together and talk about how much we don't belong."
Bourne shook his head. "If you don't want to shoot her and mess up the floor Cecelia, I'd suggest dropping her out of the cargo bay. Not like she hasn't already hit rock bottom."
Ty suddenly shook his head and looked sober as could be. "Dude, seriously? She's like your sister and you just give up on her? Seriously, dude, not cool. Why the hell are we all picking on each other anyway? Hannah just tried to commit suicide and we all are just going to kill her? No, I refuse to accept this is what we are."
"You're right Ty. She was like a sister to me." Bourne's shoulders slumped. "Was."He turned to him. "I don't know what happened, but this?...isn't my sister. Not anymore."
Ty hicks up and looked drunk off his ass again. "Maybe you need some bonding time."
Bourne actually looked at Cecelia in a "Back me up here" kind of way.
She was just shaking her head and then looked at Garrus. "Why is he drunk and then not drunk and then drunk?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, I sort of talked him into making his own detox serum and he has been switching modes the entire way here."
Bourne sighed heavily. "You know, I almost understand why she wanted to off herself right now."
"But you're too weak to." Hannah mocked.
"No. Too strong to give up." He turned around, eyes blazing. "I should actually thank you. Seeing you this...pathetic made me realize what I almost turned into. So thank you. And good riddance. Cause no matter what gets thrown at me, I'm not going to be give up like you.'" He mock saluted before teleporting.
Ty turned to her and then shook his head. "You ask me, they are all pathetic. Why give up at all?"
"Didn't you say you were giving up on Bourne earlier?"
"Did I? I think I drank that decision away. Something in me is saying that Bourne is just around the corner from finding that it isn't so bad."
As if on cue, Bourne reappeared. "Okay, there are people down there very unhappy that I won that fight...I don't think I killed any of them, but you might want to send someone down to double check. There were like twelve of them, so I couldn't really take as much time as I would have otherwise."
"Bourne, you have a knife embedded in your wrist." Cecelia pointed out.
He glanced down, and shrugged. "Meh, it's just a flesh wound." He yanked it out with a wince and applied some medigel. "Ah goddamnit!...look at the hole in this jacket now, that'll be a pain in the ass to fix!"
"...Okay, I just tried to kill myself, and I think I'm the least insane person on this crew." Hannah said, somehow sounding like she'd given up even more.
"Like I said, you have an hour to get off my ship." Cecelia then turned and walked off as she pulled up her omni-tool, calling for a medical team to the bay.
"And like I said: I'm done." Bourne said, walking up the stairs and out of the mess hall. "Have fun with the giving up on life...Hero."
"At least you have someone that hasn't given up on yours." Ty called as he walked past.
"I knew I should have just slapped her." Hannah moaned. "Slapped her across the room biotically, that would have gotten me a bullet between the eyes. What's the point in living when you already know how it'll all turn out?"
"Enjoy the ride? That's why you play the game over again."
She raised her head enough to glare at him before her eyes rolled up in her head and she slumped to the ground.
Ty stood up and kneeled down by Hannah and shoved his hand into the small of her back. "C'mon, let's get you up."
"Uh, Ty? Cecelia said that anyone helping her would be dishonorably discharged." Tali said.
"Good thing she's not in command of me then." She saw that Hannah's wounds began to heal.
She shrugged. "Probably better to just not mention it to her is what I really meant."
"Plus, even if I was in the military. I wouldn't give a fuck about her orders."
She looked pointedly at Hannah, then back at Ty. "You realize that she was already joking earlier about kicking your ass anyway, right? If she hears you say that, you might get a ten second head start if she's in a good mood."
Ty looked at Tali with a smile. "Please, do you know how many armors I know that can make me faster than the speed of sound or indestructible? The answer is a lot."
"You still have to sleep don't you?"
"In an apartment that only, I and the other key holder can access."
"Do you really want to risk that Kaidan would be more scared of your wrath than hers if she asked for the key?"
"I can also lock my door to my room. I just remembered something."
Tali shrugged. "What's that?"
"I still have two more keys to give out. Can you think of anyone I could trust with one?"
"Something just occured to me too: Cecelia's almost as good at hacking as I am, so if your door is newer she can get it open, and if it's older like that one, she can probably beat it down."
"My apartment can be indestructible if I… so… choose. Want to have some homemade, deep fried, donuts?"
"...you do realize that I can't eat human food, right?"
"You can have donuts. They don't contain dextro or amino acids."
"Wait, if you can make your apartment indestructible, why don't you just have that the default so Bourne doesn't blast holes in it?"
"Because it is funner to see him aggravated by his lack of biotic power. I guess I should say no biotic power since he blasted me and I took it all away inside my apartment."
"Didn't you limit to his powers to like one one-millionth? How did he still manage to blast you at all?"
"He has those wrist things. They convert all barrier energy into a concentrated blast. Surprisingly, Barriers don't take up that much power so neither does the blast."
"Then why not make him take them off before he can come inside, or make it so they don't exist in there or something like that?"
"Because then I would have to remember to do that. Nah, it's easier to just say biotics don't exist there."
"Too bad they still exist out here." Ty looked down as Hannah spoke right an orb of energy shot from her hand and knocked him across the room. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go collect my gear from the cargo bay." The Adept walked into the elevator without a backwards glance.
Tali looked over at Ty as he got back up. "Has she always been this much of a bosh'tet?"
"Nope. She used to be an honorable, trusting, goody two shoes that you could trust with your life. Now, one word sums her up completely."
"Bosh'tet or insane?"
"Bitch."
"That works too."
Bourne suddenly teleported back into the room, holding his jaw. "Well, it was worth asking." He muttered to himself, just loud enough for Tali's speakers to pick up.
"Hey, feel like some home cooked, fried, cinnamon donuts?"
After a minute, he shrugged. "What the hell, why not. Besides, I'm barely keeping from blowing something up biotically, so your place is the safest place for me to be right now."
"Off we go, then."
"What, no comment on how I'm for once not moping or brooding after having something go wrong?"
Ty shrugged. "That would have been predictable."
"Meh, maybe. With you I think I'd have been more surprised if you called me out on it than letting it slide."
"Well, I'm sorry I don't reach your standards Bourne. Seems like I have something in common with Tali now."
"...see, that line, I didn't expect at all."
^Wow, taking the easy way out Hero?^
T117: Yeah, she's not here. She's been refusing any and all contact with any of us.
(Yeah, don't really blame her. I mean, you say you're 'not evil enough' to give me erectile dysfunction, then you make the super goody two shoes paragon into that? What the hell man? What? The? Actual? HELL?!)
)Kinda makes Layla's complaint a couple chapters back about how she was on Feros seem a tiny bit trivial. No offense Layla.(
~Offense taken scarface. Honestly, I can get why she is here. She is under huge amounts of stress coping with Bourne no longer needing her and Ty making her being there obsolete.~
(Yeah, but come on, she watched her boyfriend die in front of her and she didn't turn into a wreck. That's just…whatever, I'm over it now.)
^You know, it seems like you actually care about Hero with what you said first.^
S7: Yeah, almost like a sister.
(More like a weird alternate reality clone type deal that I wanted to break myself so I'm disappointed to see someone else doing it.)
^Of course.^
S7: So, how awesome is Saints Row 3?
T117: Haven't played it yet. And yes, I actually downloaded it, I've just been replaying through the Halo series so I want to finish with all that before I take a crack at it.
S7:Dude, Ferret and I made up a duo called Ms. White and Mr. British. We got a men in black thing going on with our kills and characters now.
T117: Yeah, I don't even know what the game is, aside from the fact it's open world like GTA.
(Which you've also never played.)
S7: You are a gang that is world famous and going to kill a gang in a new city that killed your best friend and generally pissed you off.
T117: Meh, might run into the same problem I had with Skyrim where I just have no idea what to do to advance the story, but then again if it's anything like GTA I probably won't give a shit about the plot and I'll just go around causing mayhem.
S7: That plot is easy and awesome. I mean, what game have you ever played that has you fall out of the same plane twice in the same fall.
T117:...Wait, what?
^Exactly!^
T117: How do you- does he like fall out, then the plane dives to catch up to him then he falls out of it again?
S7: You have to play to see.
^Oh, and don't forget the part where you turn into a fire demon and kill the cyber-goth leader of the Deckers.^
(...Did I make this game when I was drunk or something?)
~Please, you couldn't write a story that is as heartfelt as the one in the game. I mean, just… WHY JOHNNY GATT!? TAKE ME INSTEAD!~
(Yes! Please! Take her instead so we don't have to deal with her! And take Hero too while you're at it!)
S7: Um, I think we better go…
~He already lost Aisha! Fate, I hate you so much!~
S7: Okay calm down Layla. Here, play Saints Row IV.
(I'm sure this will make more sense after he plays it at some point, but right now even I don't get where this conversation has gone.)
)You know, it's not like we have to have them here. I mean- Krog nki113r24 has been logged off by host.
(Haha, that's what ya'll get for showing up after me!)
S7: Well, you know what we can do? We can just sign off. 1473I2.
T117: Don't forget to leave questions for chapter 50. Until then, Sayonara.
