Blue Eyes Angel 2

Chapter 51 The Mole

Happy Harbor City: Happy Harbor: Mount Justice: December 25

Alex snuggled close to her pillow, enjoying the warmth and comfort of her bed. She was able to get a relaxing night of sleep; things were starting to look up with her powers and nightmares.

Her door opened, and an energetic Captain Marvel flew in.

"Merry Christmas Alex!"

Alex threw her pillow over her head. "Billy! I am still sleeping!"

"But Alex, it's two o'clock in the afternoon."

"Your point?"

Next thing Alex knew she was pulled out from her bed by her feet. She screamed as she was thrown across Captain Marvel's shoulder.

"Present time!"

"Put me down!"

Alex was carried through the cave over Captain Marvel's shoulder until she was dumped on the couch in the living room.

"Don't you have a family to be with?" grumbled Alex.

"We all did, know it's time to be with her team family!"

"We?" Alex looked over to see her team minus Roy, sitting in the room.

"Merry Christmas Alex!" cheered M'gann.

Alex looked to Captain Marvel who raised an eyebrow with a smirk. Alex smiled. "Okay, fine."

Everyone grinned and made with exchanging gifts. Robin strolled over to Alex and handed her a small red-wrapped present.

"Merry Christmas," he said.

Alex smiled at him which he turned and took the present. "Merry Christmas, Boy Wonder."

Roy Harper walked through the zeta tubes into the cave as Alex was standing there on the other side. He had never really seen her like this; she had on blue jeans with a black shirt and brown sweater over it. Her hair was down and hanging off her shoulders. She seemed nervous as she moved her brown boot foot back and forth in front of her.

"What did you want to talk to be about?" he asked her.

Alex fidgeted with her hands before glancing over her shoulder and back at him. "We should talk somewhere more private," she said.

Roy sighed. "I know a place."

Alex climbed the rope, Roy reached out a hand, and Alex took it as he pulled her into the tree house.

"This isn't exactly what I mean when I said private," said Alex.

"No one from the team or League will think to find us here. I haven't been here in years," said Roy.

"This used to be yours?"

Roy nodded. "Green Arrow made it from me when I was a kid. He's off on a mission so he won't find us here either."

"Made it for you? Is he your dad?" asked Alex.

"Not really, but probably the closest I had," admitted Roy. "Now what did you want to talk about?"

Alex sat back against the tree house wall. "You had a theory that there might be a mole on the team."

"Not anymore, I know that I had believed that, and was a jerk about-"

"You might not be so far off," said Alex.

Roy was quiet for a moment. He stared at her before asking. "What do you mean?"

"I can't explain it. I need you to promise me something."

"Nu-uh, if I am going to promise anything, I need to know everything. No giving me half-shit explanations. Spill everything out," demanded Roy.

So, Alex did. She told Roy everything. About Cadmus, Match, Luthor, her lost memories, her powers, the Shields she got from Luthor, her fears and concerns. It felt nice to get everything off her chest and be able to tell someone without being afraid.

When she finished she let Roy process everything? "Holy," said Roy.

"I know," said Alex. "But that code phrase I told you about."

"What about it?" asked Roy.

"I think it's some failsafe system Luthor set up for me. When he says it, I lose gaps of time; I have no memory of anything. I think it shuts me down," explained Alex.

Roy leaned towards her. "Why are you telling me this?"

"If Luthor can do that, then what else can they make me do, or have done?"

Roy seemed to understand what she was saying. "Alex-"

"I just need you to promise me, that if I turn against the team, if I become dangerous to them, I need you to stop me." Alex reached into her pocket; she pulled out a lead box. "I reached out to a friend from Cadmus; they had this secretly stored away. They gave it to me, and I want you to have it."

"Is that what I think it is?"

"Yes."

Roy looked down at the box; he seemed like he was debating something with himself. "Why come to me? You know I'm leaving the team to join the League, right?"

"All the more reason to give it to you. I could never ask the team to do what I'm asking you, nor would I think they be able to. And you are one of the few people I trust in the Justice League," explained Alex. She held the box out to him. "Please Roy, you're the only one I can trust for this."

Roy finally took the box from her.

"You have my word."
