No Man's Land

They stood at the edge of no man's land, knuckles white with tension, toes curled tight against the invisible line.

Jostling each other in a half hearted attempt at bravado, they slung soft insults, to bolster legs that were not willing to go.

Even fearless Leonardo chided himself, the first to lead, to force his brothers to follow couldn't muster the will to take a single step.

Working up the spit in his savannah dry mouth, their leader almost squeaked as he whispered, "On the count of three we'll go. One ... two ... THREE!"

Lightning quick his brother's betrayed him, working on mass to push the hapless brother forward, slamming the door in his face, locking it with a fatal click.

Dumbfounded and terrified; though he'd never admit it, Leo took a tentative step forward into the incense filled room.

He'd find Mikey's comics even if he had to brave no man's land to do it.

A/N: Well here's installment number two! I hope everyone had a brilliant New Year's Day, and no one ended up on their shells. I had a quiet one with family, and I'm really looking forward to what the New Year brings.

Rant, rave, review ... I have a buttload of crocheting to do, but when I finish a few more rounds, I promise to give a little love back!
