Part 5: Meet the Winchesters!

Owlwings yawned and stretched, feeling an itch of anxiety under her marbled pelt. She really wanted to have gotten to go with either Loki or the kittens, but some cats needed to stay at the camp...sighing, the she-cat padded out of the tunnel, the dark green ivy covering the entrance behind her. Craning her neck, Owlwings spotted the dark shape of Diaval preening himself in the large tree not far from the entrance. Though only Loki and Featherwing (and Duskstar, Owlwings suspected) could understand the raven (who had been quite indignant at being mistaken for a crow for so long), Owlwings had enjoyed playing games or even just sitting with the bird. The faint purple sheen in his night-black feathers was the only hint towards the bond Featherwing had formed with the raven, who had recently made a variety of nests in the trees surrounding their camp. As Owlwings got closer, she spotted the soft gray of Featherwing's fur making it's way up the tree Diaval was in; after a moment, Owlwings hurried forward and called up, "Want some company?" Featherwing's lavender eyes peered down at the older she-cat. "Sure-Diaval is always happy to have someone to croak at!"

Ripplestone kept a close eye on his kittens, who had surrounded the little pot with the Groot-person. Silver's fluffy tail was twitching as she batted lightly at the small being, careful to keep her claws sheathed. Ripplestone nodded in approval, ear twitching as the alien female, Gamora, settled lightly next to him. "So, where did Loki find you?" she asked, curious-though Ripplestone didn't know it, Gamora had heard Loki talking to Duskstar at one point while he was imprisoned on the Chitauri homeworld, and though she never saw the cat, she knew that the she-cat (and these cats) were tied to the Mage of their own choice. Ripplestone glanced at the assassin, amused at how alike she and the Black Widow where. "In Asgard. My Asgardian was killed in a battle with Dark Elves, and I went with them initially for revenge."
Gamora hesitated. "I've heard about Asgard. What's it like?" Ripplestone perked up as Mintyflower joined the two, also keeping her eyes on their kittens. Mintyflower also seemed interested, so the silver tabby tom settled in to talk about his old home.

Bladeclaw let out an impressed meow as she took in their new surroundings. Loki had brought them to a cold, bare rock that seemed to just float in the blackness of space. The stars looked far away, and the black she-cat took a moment to appreciate the view of the vibrant nebula, before she turned back in time to see Loki add a small atmosphere-he didn't need it, but the younger warriors would. "I'm not entirely sure what may happen when I absorb the power-I was familiar with the Tesseract, and the Aether is made to be absorbed. Be prepared."
Bladeclaw nodded and stood next to Ravenstrike, flexing her claws. Sparrowflight and Hawkclaw stood on her other side, with Echosong and Crow's Cry just behind them. Lilyfire, Larkwhisper, Fawnstep and Duskstar spread out from where Loki stood, several fox-lengths away. Bladeclaw focused her dark blue eyes on the silver sphere Loki was holding. "Ready?"
A general mrrow of agreement met the Mage's inquiry, and he reached up to twist off the top section of the sphere. Bladeclaw saw a surprisingly small, oval Stone-bright white and pitch black whorls shifting under the vibrant purple. Loki paused, inhumanly green eyes gaining a thin blue and a thin red ring around his pupils before he picked up the Stone in his right hand. Bladeclaw hissed, jerking back as the stone seemed to become liquid, surging up Loki's arm and causing his eyes to glow. The power grew and the she-cat turned her head aside, eyes flattening on instinct as a soundless explosion of light swallowed the darkness. Bladeclaw could feel Ravenstrike and Sparrowflight burrowing into her sides, fur bristling in the after-shocks. Blinking, the she-cat straightened, her eyes moving first to a panting but otherwise fine Loki-for a moment, his skin glowed and a third, violet ring surrounded his pupils before he blinked and his eyes went back to their usual shade of unnatural green.
Her gaze then settled on a a group of three utterly bewildered men who had appeared. Two of them faced towards her, and the third had his back to the gathered cats. It was this third that drew Bladeclaw's attention-not because of the long, tan trench-coat that had streaks of what looked like blood, or his about 6 foot, slim stature, but because of his massive wings. They joined his back just behind his shoulder-blades, the main bone falling down into an 'elbow' above the mans hips before rising again to a 'wrist' just over his shoulders. The primary feathers curved inwards slightly, the ends falling to the mans ankles. The feathers were as black as the space around them, though they had a rainbow shimmer, like oil on water. The jacket was ripped around the joints, a hint of skins seen through several more layers of clothing. The other two men were gaping at their companion-the first was massive, taller even than Loki at about 6'4, and nearly as muscular as Steve Rogers. He had brown hair and hazel eyes, was wearing jeans, boots, and a plain white T-shirt with a plaid shirt unbuttoned over it. The second man was smaller, only about 6ft, with short brown-blonde hair and dark, forest green eyes. He was wearing much of the same, only with a leather jacket over top instead of a plaid shirt.

Hawkclaw stared in awe at the mans wings. She was to his left side, and could make out messy, dark brown-black hair and electric blue eyes that flickered around their surroundings in confusion. His simple black suit, white shirt, and navy tie where rumpled and stained with blood, as though he had just come from a fight. The shortest of the three finally croaked, "Cas? What the he-?"
"Dean," the winged man, 'Cas', interrupted in a rough voice, his electric blue eyes having landed on Loki, who had gotten his breath back by this point. Hawkclaw noted with some amusement that Duskstar had climbed onto the Trickster's shoulder for a better vantage. 'Dean' managed to drag his eyes from the others wings, also spotting Loki. He snorted, seemingly getting back some of his composure. "Gee, is there a costume party around here or what?" Hawkclaw mentally groaned. Quill and Tony where quite enough without adding a third 'thinks he's so funny' to the mix! The taller man, meanwhile, had noticed their surroundings and seemed to be having a minor heart attack. "How are we even breathing?!"
"Wha..." Dean glanced around, flinching when he noticed that he was standing near the edge of a drop into space. He took a subtle step away, turning firmly to give the taller man a look-over while keeping an eye on Loki. "You okay there, Sammy?"
"It's Sam," replied the taller one in an automatic tone of voice. "Is this Purgatory?"
"No." Cas stated firmly, and Hawkclaw wondered idly if his name was really 'Cas' or if it was just short for something, while resisting the urge to bat at the mans wings-the long feathers were twitching, the wings flaring out slightly in what Hawkclaw realized was a defensive display. "We are not even in our own Dimension anymore." Sam and Dean groaned, before Dean shot Loki the stink eye. "Lemme guess, you dragged us here to use us as pawns in some freaky game. Well, good luck with that. We're the Winchesters-we stopped the Apocalypse, and we can stop you."
"A little early for that speech yet, don't ya think Dean-o?"
All three of the strangers jumped, Cas's wings flaring and curving slightly around the other two in a protective gesture. Hawkclaw spotted a grin flashing across Loki's face-he obviously recognized the fourth man, who had appeared in front of the others with a fluttering sound. No doubt because of his wings-and if the brown tabby she-cat had thought Cas' wings were impressive, they paled next to these; for one thing, instead of two, there were six. How that was possible, Hawkclaw wasn't even sure. The first set was the same size and basic shape as the other mans, though set a little higher on his back. They overlapped the second set, which were slightly smaller. The second set overlapped the third and final set, which again, were smaller-though only just. The feathers on all the wings were a bright gold color, the top feathers somewhat darker than the rest and the edges practically glowing.
"I thought you were dead!" spluttered Dean. The newcomer shrugged. "I was. Or am. Or...well, lets just say I did, in fact, die. But since I'm a Guardian, I got to keep on kicking, so long as I stayed out of my home Reality." the man snapped his fingers, startling Hawkclaw with the familiar gesture, and then unwrapped the cherry flavored sucker that had appeared, popping it into his mouth with a casual shrug, golden eyes glinting with amusement.
