Once we were safely hidden in my room at Remus' house, I took my finger off of my lips.

"Who do you think he's shouting at?" Emily frowned at the closed door.

"Don't know," I shrugged. "Probably Sev."

"Do they shout at each other a lot?" Emily was practically chomping on her lip.

"Never." I shook my head. "Sev will lose his temper once in a while but they never have shouting matching like that."

"Well then we should go back to Professor Snape's house." Emily said firmly.

"We can't. Whoever he is arguing with upstairs can't know that I'm here." I explained. "Remember everyone thinks that I grew up with Remus my whole life. As far as everyone else knows, Remus' house is the only home I've ever know. So Remus had to lie to whoever is upstairs about where I really am." Emily's expression grew more and more troubled as I explained the situation.

"Then how do we get out of here?" She fretted.

"We'll just have to wait." I sighed. "But maybe we should listen in, so we know when it's safe to leave."

"You just want to see who he's talking to." Emily said accusingly.

"I wouldn't call that talking." I said pointing at the ceiling before sneaking the door open.

"You'd know perfectly well who I've fallen for if you weren't too busy feeling sorry for yourself to notice." A woman's voice snapped.

"Who do you think..."Emily started to ask but I silenced her with a look.

"You don't understand! You could never understand!" From Remus' voice I could tell he was extremely upset. The woman snorted.

"I'd expect a line like that from Sirius, but from you Remus?" From the tone of her voice the woman sounded highly insulted. "I already know you're a werewolf and I know about the Order of the Pheonix. What could I not understand?"

"Believe it or not, Dora, there are other people in my life." Remus quipped. A snorting laugh escaped from the woman and it became clear that Remus was arguing with Tonks.

"Who? Sirius? He can't even Leave the house! Molly and Arthur? Because they think..."

"I was talking about Alice." Remus interrupted her in a tone that only I would understand as calculating. "It's just been her and I for a very long time. I don't want to overcomplicate her life." I wondered if it was as obvious to Emily and Tonks, as it was to me, that Remus was lying.

"She's fifteen not five!" Tonks countered. "So she was old enough to tackle a dragon, but not old enough for you to have a girlfriend?"

"I didn't let her tackle a dragon! I wasn't there! She was only in that tournament because Severu...several people told me there was no way for her to withdraw. Albus assured me she would be perfectly fine. Now if you don't mind, I've had quite enough arguing for one afternoon."

"I have business elsewhere anyway." Tonks sighed. There was a loud popping sound as she disapparated from the house. There was a clanging sound as dishes sloshed into the kitchen sink.

"Remus?" I called pushing the door open and walking up the stairs. I heard soft footsteps behind me, and I knew that Emily was following. Remus was in the kitchen, leaning on his counter with his back facing us. He turned when he heard us approach, a hand on his wand. His hand loosened when he realized it was Emily and I.

"Oh Alice...I didn't hear you two come in." Remus didn't move from where he was standing nor did his upset express change.

"I know. We came in while you were fighting with Tonks."

"Oh you um...you did?" Remus cleared his throat as his expression changed from upset to slightly embarrassed. "How much of that did you hear?"

"Not much." I lied. "But if you ask me, you and Tonks should start seeing each other. She see nice and I think she'd brighten up your house a bit. And I like her." I stated as if that should make his decision for him.

"Alice you know I can't." Remus sighed again. "How would we explain to her about Severus? What if something happens between us? She could tell everyone about what's really going on."

"Tonks wouldn't do that!" I insisted.

"The truth is Alice, we have no way of knowing. It's better this way trust me." Remus countered.

"You know who you sound like right now?" I glared at him with my arms crossed. "C'mon Em let's go."

"Wait Alice, you must have come over here for a reason." Remus called out to me.

"Yeah but it's not important now. Just think about what I said and think about what Tonks said please." I asked before leaving the house.
