Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter and never will. The series and characters belong to the brilliant mind of JKRowling, and I do not make any money off of this and the challenge this is based off of was created by the wonderful Severitus, plus the story "Not Myself" by Saerry Snape that started the whole Harry as a street kid influenced this as well, and I make no money off of this from either the challenge or the influence.

: Experiences are what shape people into who they are. What happens when the majority of someone's experiences comes from the streets? One young boy gets left on the streets and in doing so changes the entirety of his life. Without any knowledge of who he really is, he must face a world of magic and rise above it.
Notes
: this is my own take on the whole idea of Harry growing up on the streets and making it a bit of a Severitus challenge. As with most stories of this nature, it was inspired by the story "Not Myself" by Saerry Snape. This is my own way of making it, via the help of my lovely sister and editor (some of the time) Daeleniel Shadowphyre. So I hope people like it, and I hope it makes sense. Also, yes there will be cockney within this piece. I have my reasons for sticking to as close as I can get to the sound. Don't worry; the dialogue on Victor's end will become more refined, eventually.

Chapter 53

The first week of classes passed with more noise than Victor had liked. He had also noticed that he was the subject of a lot of gossip. The students acted as if was unusual to have a teacher's child attending Hogwarts. That confused Victor, but only because he had trouble believing that he was the only one that had existed. He was certain that there had been others, though it looked as if nobody remembered them. He shook his head and looked at the grounds of Hogwarts. Victor was outside of the castle, sitting on the steps that led into the building.

He wanted a little bit of a break from dealing with the situation that he had been presented with. It was overwhelming to him. He hadn't thought that there would be so many people that interested in him. He had a feeling that some of it had to do with him being the son of Severus Snape. He believed this to be the case because a few people had asked him what the man would do in class. Victor hadn't answered them. He knew that they needed to learn what to expect for themselves. After all, he had learned that lesson while working hard on his self-study. His attention was drawn away from his thoughts when he heard the castle door open. He looked over his shoulder and saw Blaise Zabini exiting the school. The Slytherin looked at Victor and raised an eyebrow. Victor looked away from him.

Blaise sat next to him and cleared his throat. "Well, isn't it a nice day out?" Victor sighed and turned his head. He knew that he wasn't here to make friends. He was there to keep the headmaster's plan from becoming fruitful. That was a part of what he had worked on for the past week. He had been showing people that he didn't act like someone that could be seen as a saviour.

Victor shifted to where he was leaning against the step that was behind him. "Yes, it is." He let his words stop after that. He had no idea what Blaise was going to do. He only knew that there was something going on in the Slytherin's mind. The young man appeared as if he wanted to figure out him. That annoyed Victor quite a bit, though he was willing to admit that he could be considered a mystery to the students.

Blaise shifted and ended up in front of Victor. That caused the young Ravenclaw to blink as he looked at Blaise. He leaned back as much as he could, though it wasn't as much as he would have liked. Blaise leaned back after a moment. "You know, you've got a rather interesting look about you. There are those scars on your forehead that seem a little strange. Then there are those features that are Professor Snape's. However, I feel that the majority of your face looks a little strange. There's something not right. I'm not sure what it is, but I sense that there's something more about you than has been said." Blaise then stood up and tilted his head to the side. Victor blinked. He was unsure of what he should say in regards to those words.

Victor then stood up and stared at Blaise. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I look like my parents." He waited to see what Blaise was going to say to that. He knew that the teen wouldn't let it sit there. After all, he had watched the Slytherin for the past week. The young Zabini didn't let mysteries sit quietly. He seemed to have the need to figure them out.

Blaise shrugged. "Well, it doesn't explain why you went by Vauxhall for the short period of time that you were here during our first year. Usually the child goes by the father's name. There is also the fact that the few times that I heard you speak in first year were with a different accent." Victor continued to stare at Blaise. He felt a little shocked by the fact that the young Slytherin was putting all of those facts together. He knew that they were correct, but that didn't stop his shock from forming.

Victor then proceeded to use the plan that had been put together before the school year had started. "Well, my mother was the one that was taking care of me. She and my father had split before I was born. He only found out that I was his before I went to Hogwarts. I had my mother's name until then. I only took his name when I was comfortable with him. We hadn't really associated before then. My mother died not long before I came to this school. She and I lived in White Chapel before that." He stopped there. The idea was that they would use some elements of the truth in their story. They wanted to make sure that it was almost impossible to find out the truth.

Blaise nodded and appeared to accept that. "Right. I guess that makes sense. By the way, your father is looking for you." He then walked off. Victor stared at Blaise's back. He wasn't sure what the teen was up to, but he didn't like it. He would have to share what had happened with Severus. Blaise's antics weren't something that they had planned for, which meant that they would need to come up with another plan and fast.

A/N: Well, here's the chapter. Hope that you all enjoy. It looks like Blaise is butting in. Later.
