(At Latvia Resort)
Golden eyes glared at the ceiling, Pitch grinded his teeth in frustration as he twisted his wrists against the straps that held them to the bed. "How dare they, how dare they keep me from helping him." The Nightmare King was fuming at the fact that he couldn't get free.
"Come on Pitch…talk to me."
Patrick's pleading voice drifted into the room, however it fell on deaf ears as Pitch ignored him.
"Pitch, I know you're awake. Please, Iris is only doing what she thinks is best."
Pitch snorted, and remained quiet
"Fine! Be that way you stubborn rock!" Patrick's voice huffed, "I'm off to get my head examined."
A grin crossed Pitch's face when the sound of Patrick's bed being wheeled out of the room echoed, "Good, maybe they'll finally have proof that he has nothing there."
"Pitch, they are just trying to keep you safe."
Golden eyes glanced at the small kitten curled on his chest, "Oh and what are they doing to keep Jack safe!"
Sam mewed and shrank slightly at the anger reflected in the spirit's voice
Pitch sighed when the teens fear hit him, "Sorry Sam, I didn't mean to yell at you."
"Its…its ok Pitch." The kitten purred slightly trying comfort the spirit, "You're just upset about Jack."
"And at the fact they thought it fine to tie me to the bed." Pitch's eyes went to the straps that held his wrists tightly to the bed
Sam chirped, "If they hadn't how fast would you have went back after Jack?"
Pitch chuckled, "Within seconds."
Crimson eyes blinked, "Look Pitch, I don't know why Iris and the others are so against you going after Jack but they must have a good reason."
"Iris is just overprotective," Pitch snorted, "And Greed is an asshole."
"But they care about you." Sam rubbed his head under Pitch's chin.
Golden eyes gleamed suddenly with an idea, "You're right Sam." He twisted his right wrist slightly, "Hey, you think you could loosen this restraint? I have an injury to my wrist from where I fought Terror that hasn't healed completely and the strap is hurting."
Sam cocked his head, "Pitch…I can't do that…Iris said not to let you free."
Pitch chuckled, "I'm not asking for you free me Sam. Just loosen it a bit."
The kitten glanced at the door, "I don't know Pitch…"
"Please Sam, I'd owe you." If his voice had been visible the Nightmare King's would have seemed to drip with honey as he offered Sam his most 'saddest' face.
"All right." Sam got up, his back arching as he stretched out, he padded across the spirit's chest.
Pitch grunted slightly when the kitten plopped down onto his stomach, "Sheesh Sam what have you been eating?"
Sam glared at him, "Hey, I am not fat. It's all fur." He then turned his attention on the strap around the man's wrist.
"Owe, watch your claws." Pitch yelped when the kitten's claw caught his skin as the feline tried to pull the strap.
"Do you want this thing loosened or not?" Sam huffed as he used his teeth on the restraint.
Pitch rolled his eyes and went quiet, after about five minutes he felt the restraint give a bit, "There we go Sam, keep it up." He frowned when the kitten stopped and returned to his chest, "Hey, why'd you stop?"
Sam chirped, "It's loosened." He grinned smugly, "You can't trick me Pitch. I know you were trying to get me to free you."
"I can't get anything by you huh?" Pitch grinned
The kitten nodded, not noticing the spirit now twisting his wrist back and forth, "That's right Pitch because you would have to get up pretty early to pull on ov…"
Pitch smirked when his wrist slipped free from the restraint, "Then I must have gotten up at the crack of dawn huh?"
Sam mewed, "Hey! I only loosened it?" the kitten had to catch himself as Pitch twisted and used his free hand to undo the other restraint.
Golden eyes gleamed, "And that was all I needed Sam." The Nightmare King sat up, catching the kitten that slipped from his chest "Now if you will excuse me Sam I am going to get my brother back."
"Pitch, wait please!" Sam mewled plaintively as the man jumped from the bed and rushed over to a shadow. The kitten panicked when the spirit disappeared into the blackness, "Oh dear gods I am in so much trouble!"
The room echoed with the sound of the Sam jumping to the floor, his cast making a thunk on the linoleum. The kitten quickly limped from the infirmary and into the hall hoping to find someone that could help Pitch.
(In the Between)
"No!" Jack slammed his fist against the black rock wall. The winter spirit turned and slid down the wall, his eyes glaring at the dead end he had ran into. "How do I get out of this place!"
Cold unfeeling stone had watched without sympathy for hours as the winter spirit had raced through the castles endless corridors frantically searching for a way out of his hell. Now it resounded with the sound of him hitting the floor in frustration, the boy having once again came to a dead end.
Jack let out a sigh, he leaned his head back to the stone "Come on Jack think, there has to be an exit somewhere."
"Poor little Guardian…are you lost?"
Jack stiffened, fear rippled through him as chimes echoed in the air, the teen was on his feet and running. Blue eyes darting back and forth in search of Terror who he was certain was right behind him. "If I can stay ahead of him…"
"That is quite useless Guardian," Terror's voice echoed all around the teen, "For in this Realm…I am everywhere."
Jack skidded to a halt when the ground ahead of him heaved upwards, blue eyes widening as Terror burst from the stone, the bells on his robe singing. The teen turned and raced down another corridor, ignoring the spirit's manic laughter.
The castle halls echoed with the frantic pace of Jack's feet pounding against the stone floor, tiny drops of crimson dotted their surface from the cuts that had opened on the boy's soles from his earlier excursion within the forest.
"I have to find the exit, I have too!" Jack's nostrils were flared as he struggled to keep air in his lungs as he ran at breakneck speed down unfamiliar corridors. A curse escaped him when he rounded a corner and came face to face with a solid wall.
"You ok?"
Jack turned his fists raised ready to fight tooth and nail, he froze however at who stood in front of him. "Pitch!" the boy was beside himself with relief, "I didn't think I'd see you again!"
Pitch smirked, "Really? As if I would ever leave you." A frown came to the man's face, "Though, I don't understand how you got away from Terror. You gave him your freedom."
A grin came to Jack's face, "That moron is about as bright as a 2 watt bulb."
"Oh?"
Jack frowned when a slight edge inched into Pitch's voice, he shrugged it off and continued, "Anyway…I did promise Terror my freedom. But the idiot was stupid and didn't specify for how long he owned my freedom."
Silence followed his statement, then a grin crossed Pitch's face, "That…that was a serious oversight on his part."
"Yeah, Terror is a moron." The winter spirit grinned, proud of himself "And then when the opportunity presented itself I escaped from that stupid hole he put me in."
Pitch chuckled, "And how has that worked out for you?"
Jack deflated slightly, "Well…I can't seem to find the way out of this insane place." The teen glanced back at the wall, "Everywhere I turn I come to a dead end…" the teen paused a thought occurring to him, "Wait…how did you find me Pitch? I never passed you in the corridor…" he stopped when Pitch laughed.
"You are quite forgetful aren't you?" golden eyes gleamed, "Since I can travel by shadows I can move a lot more freely in this Realm than normal spirits. Not to mention that I can escape from here at any moment due to that fact." The Nightmare King motioned with his head, "Come on Guardian, lets go home."
Jack stepped forward and grabbed the spirit's robe, ready for them to shadow walk.
The chiming of bells rang like sirens when his hand touched the fabric.
Jack's blood froze with the sound, his heart dropped to his stomach when Pitch's face twisted into a jagged grin. The winter spirit cried out when Pitch lashed out and grabbed his wrist, "You're not Pitch!" the teen tried to pry the imposters iron grip loose.
"Very perceptive…just a bit too late I am afraid." Pitch's baritone voice changed mid syllable to the manic tone that Jack had come to hate.
"Terror! You bastard!" Jack's eyes were full of fear as his brother's image shifted and Terror stood in his place, "Let go of me!" blue eyes stared in fear at his own terrified face reflected back at him.
Terror threw back his head and laughed, "Not a chance, you are my ticket out of here." The man's mask turned dark, "However…"
Jack chocked when Terror's other hand suddenly wrapped around his neck, he couldn't help the rise of panic as his air was cut off.
"There is the matter of your little escape that must be addressed."
The corridor echoed with a loud thud as Jack was thrown backwards, the teen cried out when his body hit into the wall.
"You will learn to not make a fool of me Guardian."
Jack coughed and used the wall to get to his feet, "Kind of hard not to…" the spirit cried out when pain erupted in his stomach as Terror slammed a fist into it.
"Just don't know when to keep your mouth closed do you?" Terror stepped back as the boy slumped to his knees holding his stomach. "Which is something you 'really' need to learn."
A loud crack resounded as Terror brought his fist upwards, sending the teen into the air.
Jack slammed into the rock ceiling, then back down onto the stone floor.
Terror smirked beneath his mask when the boy simply lay sprawled on the ground, whimpering in pain, "Nothing to say Guardian?"
Chimes sang as Terror bent down and grabbed a handful of white hair, the winter spirit's cry of pain echoed as he was yanked up by his hair.
"In that case, how about we get you back to your room." Terror chuckled when Jack tried pulling his hand from his hair, "Just give up Guardian, you belong to me."
Jack narrowed his eyes, with lightning speed he twisted and launched his fist at Terror's stomach.
A wail erupted in the air
"What the hell!" Jack cried out when an ivory hand shot from the tattered robe and intercepted his fist before it touched Terror. A scream escaped him when the hand twisted his fist, a loud snap echoing when the force snapped his bones.
Terror simply chuckled as Jack stumbled backwards cradling his injured wrist, "Oh I am sorry Guardian, should have warned you. My loyal guards don't like for anyone to touch me." He sighed, "Though sometimes their enthusiasm ruins my robes…oh well can't be helped." Terror chuckled, "Now…where were we…"
Jack shuddered when Terror took a step towards him
"Oh yes…your punishment for escaping." Terror's voice resounded with a sadistic tone.
Jack yelped, ducking just in time to avoid the man's lightning fast strike.
A loud crack followed by stone splintering in the air filled the corridor, Jack glanced upwards at Terror's fist that was impelled in the spot his face had just been. He cried out when Terror struck out with his foot, pinning him to the wall by his chest.
"I think a few broken ribs would suffice…" Terror laughed when the teen cried out as he applied more pressure.
Jack gasped in pain, he could feel his ribs popping as they tried to withstand to amount of force being exerted on them. "Stop, please!" he pleaded as he desperately tried to push Terror's foot off with his good hand. He gasped when the pressure stopped abruptly, Jack glanced at Terror in confusion.
Terror however wasn't even looking at him, instead the spirit had twisted to the side and was staring intently at the stone wall. After a moment a cruel laugh echoed from him, "Well what do you know…Pitch came back for you after all."
"Pitch?" Jack glanced around, hoping his brother truly had come to his rescue.
"Oh don't bother, Pitch just entered the outskirts of the Between. He is nowhere near you." Terror rubbed his chin, "However…"
Jack yelped when two skeletons emerged from the floor in a flurry of stone, and snatched him to his feet.
"Better safe than sorry." Terror motioned with his hand, "Take the Guardian back to the oubliette, make sure to add extra bedding."
The winter spirit struggled as the skeletons began dragging him down the corridor, he shuddered at Terror's parting words as the man sank into one of the shadows.
"Pitch will be joining him shortly."
