Away Mission To Terra Beta
Part 111 (New Perspectives) PG
Marcus Grisham was fascinated with the blue skinned Andorians. He watched as a female walked straight over to Shran and Hugged him.
"Wonderful are all the lovely women married." He said to Captain Archer.
Jonathan Archer laughed at this. "No that is Lessel she is Shran's older sister. She likely just hugged him to get a rise out of him. As far as I know she is single. However …. I should warn you. Andorians are energetic in all things. They are not tame."
Markus looked at Archer and grinned "Really?"
Well I warned him. Jonathan thought.
Lessel Shran hugged her baby bother. It was so good to see him in one piece. She would like to have thought she had gotten this mission because she was a stellar diplomat. However she knew a large part of her getting this job was because of Thekal and her knowledge of several principles. Those being the Pick Skin Archer and his Vulcan mate T'Pol along with having meet Martok a few years previous in a trade mission. These facts made her the ideal negotiator for these talks.
"Lessel back off. You are ruining my reputation." Shran said as he hugged her then stepped back.
Archer came walking up. "What reputation Shran?"
Lessel laughed and went to his side hugging her friend. "Good to see you pink skin. Where is your Vulcan?"
T'Pol came over and greeted them. "It is agreeable to see you ambassador Lessel." T'Pol raised her hand in the Ta'al and noting Captain Grisham's interest. "This is Captain Marcus Grisham an officer in the local military who has been a great help to our respective peoples."
Wow an ambassador and she is so young and lovely. Marcus thought. He straightened and said "A pleasure to meet you Ambassador."
Lessel looked the human over. He was tall and broad shouldered and clearly impressed with her. His bearing was that of a career military officer and he bowed politely. Not a typical human then. "A pleasure to meet a man who has helped our people."
"May I be of be of assistance?" Marcus asked. "I can take you to Colonel Montoya my commanding officer ." Marcus could tell that there was a subtle tension between the Vulcan and Andorian.
"Commander if you will excuse us then?" Lessel said smiling.
T'Pol nodded her head politely. "Of course. Captain Grisham will be a great asset. He is strong and courageous."
Lessel nodded understanding the message. He was an adventurous human. Good. Perhaps this assignment might not be so boring after all.
Grisham offered his arm. Lessel smiled and took it. She liked Archer and his crew perhaps all humans were as interesting.
"You know ambassador up until a few days ago we never knew that there was life beyond Earth. I am not disappointed to find that it is very different and lovely. I look forward to learning more about your people. I enjoy learning about other cultures and customs." Marcus said he was rather surprised at the honest sincerity in his voice.
Lessel laughed and said "I was rather surprised myself when Thekel first told me about you pink skins. However, humans have proved to be useful allies so far. They even brought peace between Vulcan and Andoria a thing we never thought to see. Captain Archer has even made us allies. While it is early days yet I have hopes of peace. While it will take a lifetime to forget and forgive we are at last not shooting each other on sight. Though this climate is far more suited for the Vulcans then it is for us."
"Yes it is very warm here. It took me a long time to adjust. I miss the snow and mountains." Marcus said. "What is your world like?"
Lessel smiled. "It is covered in snow most of the time. I think perhaps that is why we and the Vulcan's clashed so much. We are emotional and live in the snow. They are unemotional and live in a dessert world. We had no common ground."
"Differing cultures can clash. Even when you are of the same people. " Grisham said He remembered the Civil war. "War is a harsh time. While it brings innovation it often takes the best of us."
"Yes, We lost our elder brother to the war. It is often that way. " Lessel said.
T"Pol watched them and wondered if it was wise. Given the amorous nature of Grisham. However her observation of Andorian culture suggested that it might be an interesting match. She knew Soval still wanted to shoot the Captain and his advances toward herself and Hoshi had not gone over well either. Far better his energies be directed toward a single female. Lessel Shran was more then capable of rejecting him if she desired but given her nature T'Pol doubted she would. It might prove to be a good match and it would give the Andorians a stake here as well. As much as T'Pol might dislike the idea they needed their former enemies to make this work. Shran needed motivation his sister pairing with a local human even temporarily would give this motivational point.
Commander Shran looked over. He saluted T'Pol guessing her intention. He smirked and almost felt he should warn the human. Then again he did not look worried. Oh well Lessel would be amused and that was all he cared about for now. If she found a playmate she might not complain about this assignment so much and might actually be interested in cementing the alliance.

Admiral Forest stepped out of the shuttle and was greeted by Captain Hernandez.
"Welcome aboard sir. We are ready to leave when you give the word."
"Expellant Captain. I would like to be on the bridge if you do not mind?"
"Of course sir. Come this way. Crewman Franklin will take your gear to your quarters."
Forrest
followed the Captain to the bridge. On their way he noted the eager
faces of many of the crew. How
young they all look he thought.
The two officers entered the lift.
"We will leave once we are cleared Captain. It is most imperative that we arrive to assist Enterprise with her current mission. I have been Authorized to negotiate on Earth's behalf."
"Negotiate with who sir. Forgive me but you have not said who our new allies might be."
Maxwell Forest looked at Erica and sighed. He had not told her how had he overlooked that? He reached out and stopped the lift"We will be negotiating perhaps our most important treaty ever. Forgive me … with all that has happened I … We will be negotiating a treaty with the Klingons, Vulcans, Andorians and the planet Jon has found. They named it Terra Beta."
Erica stood there stunned. "Terra Beta sir?"
Forest smiled grimly. "Yes, It appears that this world is a near duplicate of our own. With a few minor Exceptions. They appear to be in the 1800's earth time and …… they have a colony of Vulcans on it."
"Vulcan's sir? Then they knew about this planet?"
"That is the strange thing Captain. They appear to be as shocked as we are. The colony is actually ….. A hybrid race. Human and Vulan mixed beings."
Erica leaned against the wall in shock. "Oh…. This could prove interesting sir."
"Yes, So we have to tread with care. We don't want to ruin this planet but…. The people there are mostly human."
"Oh boy." Erica said as she watched him start the lift again. Damn Jon you sure know how to put us in a fix don't you?
