Chapter Fourty-Nine

That was the end.

No one dared speak of anything that had just occurred. Everyone, save a select few were unharmed. Some characters requested to have their memories of most of the events wiped clean, due to possible trauma. The goddesses complied.

Jack Walters was gone forever, and he was missed already…

Pupuru was restored to health with plenty of sunlight and treatments.

Arle was sent to the hospital, both White and Purple Heart decided on forbidding her to become part of the Smash Bros.

The CFWs decided to move on. Difficult for Magic, but it was decided that they could go into a different career that didn't involve supporting their former enemies, though Brave intentionally visited Lastation.

Everything just went quiet for a few months…

Reimu Hakurei was sweeping the steps of her shrine, trying to process every little thing that happened. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to associate with Leanbox anymore, or anyone for that matter.

Until some footsteps were head. She turned around, seeing some of her associates dropping money into the donation's box. "Hope y' don't mind, miko…" The Gunstringer said, taking out a cigarette as he sat on the porch.

"I don't." Reimu replied. Master Chief sat by next along with Ichigo, Voodoo Vince, Frinnia, and Kasumi. "So, uh… How's… Everything been going with you guys?"

No response came from Vince or Ichigo. "I decided on visiting the other nations more frequently, ever since the wars between my world and the 'Souls' universe stopped." Frinnia noted. "I honestly wish I was part of Lastation instead, I connect better with them."

Master Chief glared at her under his mask, still making his utmost loyalty to Vert obvious. "I've been doing well, DOA5 has gotten decent receptions. Like Frinnia, I also decided to visit other places." Kasumi smiled.

There continued to be silence, until Reimu asked once more. "What about the others by the way?"

"Doing fine… All except…" Ichigo murmured. "Madotsuki… She…" Trying to choke back anything, the girl was instantly comforted by Master Chief.

"Ever since Walters left, she once again had that feeling of… Having nothing to live for. They were pretty good friends I suppose." He then paused for a moment. "That boy from Lowee she fought… Ness, right? He seemed utterly depressed about her going back to suicide… His friend Lucas took it even worse."

Lowering her gaze, Reimu tried to change the subject. "It's still quiet here in Gensokyo. Other than Flandre learning to still control her powers, Remilia hasn't let her back outside… But she's allowed to go out of the basement this time at least. How's everything with Vert holding up? Her games and console, I mean." She shifted a foot, putting the broom down.

"She bought out some weird mining game that was real popular with the kids… I don't understand it myself." Vince murmured. "Otherwise, better than she was before a little. Vert is kinda listening a bit more to suggestions. Glacius gave some character suggestions to her for Killer Instinct, so they're getting along better." He began flicking the pin that was stuck in him, as if trying to remember things. "Oh, yeah, also, that squirrel…Conker or something was it?

"He's now appearing in a game called 'Project Spark', as a way for Vert to reward his efforts. So we'll all see how that turns out, right?"

Slowly, Reimu nodded. "Yes… That we shall."

The Playstation All-Stars were quite the mixed bag currently.

Some like Toro, Ratchet, Jak, Sir Daniel, and Sackboy were getting along very well with characters from other nations. But Sweet Tooth had become quite depressed, which was surprising for him. Even worse was Radec, who did not leave the hospital until Compa said Pupuru was restored completely, in which he didn't speak after all of that.

Wanting to lighten things up since Noire was always busy, Fat Princess suggested a majority going on a picnic, as the weather was perfect. "So, what are we even going to do now?" Asked Spike. "We haven't been able to get another start on being a thing again… Not helped by some of the All-Stars seeming out of it."

"Aw, just wait it out! They're still trying to get used to everything that happened. I'm sure Noire will sort something out." Plump replied, laying out a blanket. "These sort of things blow away eventually, and maybe some sort of new issue will come up that involves us!" After placing the basket down, she took out a cake from inside, stuffing her mouth.

PaRappa got a sandwich out and began eating as well. "I dunno, the Smashers have grown more popular lately, haven't they? A lot of work is being put into their next game… Isn't Blanc announcing characters today?"

"Didn't your hear what the author said? Even though he or she is a Nintendo fan, they prefer us, Playstation All-Stars! Which means, we're always going to get into a crazy situation until they get bored and wanna try something different! And knowing them, it won't be Smash Bros!" Daxter bragged as he snatched an apple from inside the basket.

Kuro groaned. "Why do you have to use such fourth-wall breaking logic now?!" While they argued, Nariko turned her head.

There was a woman. Brown hair in a bun, yellow shirt, dark blue skirt, and holding a camera. Right at the moment their eyes met, she fled. Nariko saw no need to run after her, as this was meant to be a peaceful day.

But even then… She at least now knew that Daxter was most likely right.

The alliance of robots went very quiet. Tengu Man had left for unknown reasons, as did some of the badniks.

Scervo remained, as did Nefarious along with a few others. "Hey!" The pirate looked up from his charts to see the doctor. "Are you just going to stand there?!"

"Aye, Doc, I'm busy! I ain't takin' not gettin' mention in that there 'Hyrule Warriors' game in favor of that sparkly sword spirit and Stalmaster too well if ya couldn't tell!… Even if I am just a mini-boss!"

Dr. Nefarious tapped his foot. "Oh, well then by all means, continue!… I just had something for you to see, but it sounds like you don't want it!" Lifting his head, Scervo adjusted himself.

"What ye mean by that—"

"Brother!" It was too late to react, as the pirate was tackled by the giggling twin. Scervo was absolutely shocked, and was wondering if this was some sort of cruel joke… But it wasn't.

Dreadfuse was now there.

"I figured it was… Only the right thing to do, because you did… Help me when I was attacked by L.O.G." Nefarious rolled his eyes, then turned away from the scene. "His parts were scattered, some completely destroyed. Rebuilding him was quite the task, you know!"

"… Thank ye Doc." Smiling, he didn't let go. "Does that mean…?"

"No. I couldn't bring Ruukoto back." His tone of voice then changed, as if seeming upset. "She had materials I am not used to having a robot be made out of… Not even a genius like me can figure out how a nuclear-powered humanoid robot-maid works."

Although Scervo wanted to make some sort of jab to lighten the mood, he couldn't.

Either way, he knew that Dreadfuse was there, and Scervo was not going to lose him a third time.

And from the distance, King hoped it would stay that way… Along with them realizing that their idealized world without organisms would be for naught.

Blanc stood there, in HDD form and a perfect dress, slowly ripping open an envelope while on the stage.

Everyone was nervous.

"The next playable characters are… Greninja!" Shocked, the Pokemon looked at his trainer, Serena, who squealed and hugged him. Trembling, he then walked up to the stage with White Heart.

"… Charizard!"

Getting up, the fire-type Pokemon roared. Wartortle and Venusaur, formerly their pre-evolutions, cheered for him.

"… Palutena!"

Once again the crowd went wild, including Pit especially.

"… Miis!"

Suddenly several tiny little characters jumped out of their seats in excitement, running up there with the others.

"… Lucina!"

A blue haired woman who looked a lot like Marth stood up, approaching the stage next.

"… Robin!"

Followed by Lucina were two white-haired characters that seemed to be sorcerers. They almost looked like twins, when in reality, they were just gender-benders.

"Doctor Mario!"

No one really exactly gave applause for that part, though Mario did get up, putting on his doctor's garb really quickly. If anything, questionable looks were given at him and White Heart.

"… And Pac-Man!"

He was completely caught off-guard. Pac-Man looked around him, just incase it was a mistake. But it wasn't… White Heart had called out his name. "Those are all the current characters. Three others will be announced when I finish all my work on Hyrule Warriors!"

Ganondorf, Link, Toon Link, and Zelda all gave a satisfied look. Even though it was a spin-off title, it was very successful thus far. Granted some of them were going to miss the Ice Climbers and Wolf, who were busy. Roy and Pichu were uninvited again, but didn't mind, while Lucas was too busy trying to have therapy.

But in the back… Stood Mewtwo.

On one hand, he was happy for everyone, especially Greninja being that the frog Pokemon was Serena's longtime friend. But on the other… The clone felt left out again, despite what was done to help during all of the events.

Then, he felt a trap on his shoulder. "Uhm… M-mister Mewtwo?" Looking downwards, Mewtwo saw Rom, who was in HDD form and wearing a dress. "Th-this is… For you. Blanc wanted to keep it private." Slowly, she handed over an envelope.

Carefully opening it with psychic powers, Mewtwo flinched, his eyes widened… He felt tears also nearly form.

"Dear Mewtwo… Thank you. I'm sorry if it seemed like I neglected you over the years.

I had thought about it for a long time, and decided, that you shall be our first DLC character.

Please keep it a secret to everyone."

- Lady White Heart

The announcements were over… But Mega Man didn't know if he wanted to join the Smashers anymore.

Not without Arle…

Sure, he and Pac-Man were great friends, but Rock had grown just too fond of Arle. But now neither Neptune or Blanc wanted the sorceress in for multiple reasons. It was tempting for him just to go into Planeptune himself, find Arle, see if she wanted to go to visit Dr. Light and learn about technology.

In turn he could learn about things like older magic and ruins. They had quite a lot in common, and Rock wanted to see his human friend again, as it had been a few months.

… He couldn't take his mind off of it much either, which bothered Roll and Auto, who constantly asked Rock if he was alright. Rush was worried as well, as he had liked being around Carbuncle a little.

"Rock!"

That couldn't have just been a coincidence just now, but there she was. Arle running over with a bandaged arm, and Carbuncle hopping along. Despite that, the girl hugged Rock, greeting him with a big smile. "Arle?! What are you doing here? Y-you know you weren't allowed to come be part of Smash—"

"So? I came to see you and the others anyway! I wanted to congratulate everyone, even if I'm technically a Planeptunian! Neptune said I was allowed to see my best friends at least!"

Although he wanted to say something, Rock felt something besides her hair brush up against him. Soft, tender lips nuzzling…

She gently kissed him.

"Flan… I think you're ready. But don't overdo it, okay?" Remilia had Sakuya open the doors to the mansion's courtyard. Flandre's face was beaming, holding the parasol given to her from Toro.

Both vampiric sisters and their maid stepped outside. The sun was bright, but they were able to block it away.

It wasn't just them though. No, there was something else eclipsing the sun. "Hello! You two must be the Scarlet sisters, right? Sorry to bother you, I'm Crazy Hand in case you didn't know." The twitchy left glove spoke, holding something between his fingers.

"H-huh?! How did you get by?! The gate keeper surely would have—"

Crazy Hand stopped Remilia before she could continue. "I don't really follow the laws of your… Uh, curtain-fire games, and I simply wanted to give something to the younger sister. Plus… I took the back-way to begin with." He then used the tip of his large fingers to hand a small card to Flandre.

"What is this?" The small vampire asked.

"You see, I… Kind of want some help with demolition. I'm not comfortable with any of the CFWs, and they have a music business now, so I can't ask them. I figured, you're able to control your powers better, according to what I've heard… And I'm usually in charge of destroying things that Lady White Heart doesn't want."

"Ah, so you want young mistress to assist you? Milady, that may be a good idea for her to get out you know." Sakuya pointed out.

"Hmph! Listen here, 'Crazy Hand' guy! I will…" Remilia then paused. "… I will have Flandre decide this for herself."

"Let me know then by contacting me with that card!" Crazy Hand responded, then floated away from the mansion.

Steps, even if slow ones, Flandre was getting closer to being free.

((This is it guys, we're one chapter away from the true ending and epilogue!

I was having trouble on what my next project would be besides PSAS Tag-Team which is ongoing and… Getting a little boring, because the PSASBR community is inactive, and the game does not save my progress involving ranking up and unlocking stuff anymore for some reason.

I was having trouble deciding on what the new story I would make would be. One idea was going to be a Marvel and PPG crossover, I decided to hold onto the idea until later. Another was a Majora's Mask story, which I have already written the first chapter or two of.

Another… Was a FNAF story, I instantly scrapped it when the third game came out. Plus as much as I enjoy the games, it's getting run into the ground and I don't have to contribute jack-squat.

One idea I have written concepts for was a Kingdom Hearts crossover story, another was a Punch Out one… I decided, I'm going with the latter. It will take place in a weird separate continuity.

Ahem… Okay, now onto reviews/comments

GoldenLombaxGirl: AWESOME! I'm glad he's done with, though it's a pity it's drawing near to the end.

Answer: Everything must come to an end! It's for the better that this does anyway. I'll feel bad if I drag this on any longer, this was originally going to be shorter but then the villain ideas came in. D:

Guest Review/Comment: This is terrible. F*** off.

Answer: Ahh, okay. I wasn't sure what you were getting at before. I just have a question, why is it terrible to you? I don't mean this in a way that I'm upset, I would like some criticism and I'm interested/happy to know.

Is it because of the characterizations? That's bound to happen when there's so many of them… Battle scenes also are a little hard to write out for me, as is some pacing. I mean, unless you're just mad that L.O.G was the villain the whole time, in which that's understandable even though he was meant to and acts antagonistic in Banjo Nuts & Bolts.

In any case, I am certainly aware that this isn't my best work. I made this not just for myself, but for younger readers who want a big story involving… Well, "Console Wars". Granted, I'm not good enough to deliver it surely, but… Hey, it is what it is, and that's partly my fault for not planning out the scenario itself and just going with one string of events originally, then mashing others in.

… Unless you really are just a troll, then I just criticized myself for no reason. Sorry if you expected a negative "AAAH NO FLAMING!1" reaction. :P

Oh yeah, uh… I also changed the cover of this and the prologue. Needed to be more up-to-date. Also, Duck Hunt, Shulk, and Bowser's kids weren't mentioned in the ceremony thing because they were leaks. Which if you have been looking at my other PSASBR story, involves another plotline…))
