Special: Chapter 4

~SailorMoon~

The V-Hearts' epic backstory made them stunned to say the least. The teenagers plus young girl and Digimon were shocked to silence. Even Davis was quiet. Dangerously quiet.

"But…but…" Kokoro was stuttering on her question. "…what about our parents? Did they know what happedn to us? Especially mine? I was left behind."

"Actually…it was your grandparents who knew." Darien revealed.

"Granpa?"

The old man continued snoozing since that afternoon. His loud snores were heard in the background.

"And Granma?"

"Your grandparents dropped you off and picked you up. They were supposed to look after you when your parents were on some trip."

"Maybe that's why daddy is always reluctant to leave me alone with grandpa."

"Man, my dad would've went Godzilla crazy in that situation." Annalise remarked, running a hand through her ponytail.

"Mine probably called the army or the British Intelligence agency." Anya cracked.

"My mother would've used her occupation and position to publish a nationwide search for me because I was a baby." Lori answered logically. While staying seated, she turned around to face her beloved idol in concern. "Daisuke-kun?"

Davis hadn't made a single joke about this matter. But the girls knew how truly sensitive he was, especially if involved his fragile family. Which, in this case, it did.

Serena leaned forward, looking directedly at Davis with a hopeful smile. "Davis, maybe we can talk to your-"

Kokoro squeaked, cutting her off. Alongside her, Cleo was pulling her ears. Annalise made throat-cutting signs with her hands, her face making a funny pained expression while Quartz waved her long, big ears and tiny hands. Anya waved her hands, her lips silently screaming 'NO' and Helena was flying up and down, wings flapping frantically in the same fashion as Anya. Lori threw her hands to her head, embraced for a predicted violent impact and Atsuko mimicked her. Veemon stared worriedly at his human partner. Their reactions perplexed the adults.

Davis casted his eyes down, narrowed angrily and casting a shadow across his face like a mask. "If you want to talk to my mom, you'll have to hold a séance*." Then he stood up, setting Rui off him and down on the ground, and walked outside, leaving the adults stunned by his statement.

Lori stood up, wanting to follow faithfully, Atsuko copying her as usual, but Kokoro reached out and stopped her, but her large, twinkling eyes showed great worry for her boyfriend. Cleo shared the same look.

Thanks to their failing attempts to stop the very mention of Nori to Davis, Annalise wailed dramatically as she buried her face in her face while Anya groaned and slapped her forehead with her lips frowning.

"She's dead?" Mina croaked out, going onto the blink of tears for her long-time idol.

"It's a touchy topic." Annalise said, lifting her face up form her hands.

"The slightest mention of his mum causes him to become as unapporachable as a speeding train." Anya noted dryly, sliding her face down her face.

"How is a fast train unapporachable?" Nathianial questioned.

As always, Anya was prepared with a comeback. "Would you want to be in the line of one?"

"Point taken."

Serena was gasping, bringing her hands to her face, quickly beginning to cry. "I couldn't believe it. Nori's dead…That explains why we haven't heard of her as Sunna Honour for a while…"

"She would want us to move on, right?" Zane said, yet he was uncertain with his question.

"Do we want to?" Jude countered.

His wife Raye broke the silence by bursting out. "But we saw that woman crash through a glass wall! How could she die from a single car hit?"

"What really killed her was that she won't let anyone help her. It was selfless and foolish." Mal admitted.

"Why? She was like Wonder Woman, nothing could stop her." Annalise asked. Strength and bravery were her strongest points so Mal's words had caught her attention.

"She believed it was her problems so it was hers to deal with herself, no matter how dangerous." Amy answered.

"It's ok to share the weight with others. It makes us stronger." Lita voiced.

"If only Nori knew that. She was a brave woman, if not too selfless." Darien confessed ruefully.

Then Serena rose and went outside, intending on talking to Davis.

Outside, Nori's only son was sulking on the grass. The mention of his mother scorned him. He was too engrossed in his brooding to hear the clicking sound of heels.

"Davis," The femimine voice didn't belong to one of his friends. He looked up, spotting Serena on a swing. The mid-sun wasn't as effective on her as moonlight was, but it really gave her a pinkish glow. "I want to speak with you."

"About my mom?" Davis grumbled.

Serena frowned a little, becoming irritated with his attitude. "Yes, your mom. She was made a huge impact on me in one day. I wasn't the perfect leader either. Sometimes it takes time. But meeting your mother helped me realized some important lessons. I don't have to be something I'm not. I'm not to be a leader. I just have to believe in myself. Your mother was a wonderful woman. She loved you very much."

"Not enough to not lie to me and not to mention, neglected me."

"She thought herself as a danger to you. Look Davis, we all have difficult choices. Life isn't always smooth-sailing." She got off the swing and went over, bending a little with a hand touching his shoulder. "I know this is a lot to take in. But all I want to say is don't make the same mistake as her. Don't be afraid to let others help you." Then her hand snaked up his head, affectionately stroking his short spikes, smiling. "Its really great to see you again, Davy."

Her hand left his head as she walked back inside, leaving him thinking about what she said.

"Davis?" He knew that angelic voice.

His head turned to see his girlfriend, standing a foot away with Veemon and Cleo at her legs.

"Hey, Ko."

Kokoro walked over and sat down beside him. Her gentle hands went to his', tenderly squeezing them. Veemon sat beside his partner while Cleo sat beside hers.

"This is hard on you, I understand." She said softly. "But I believe your mother was only trying to protect you. Its not always easy to keep the ones you love safe. I understand what she was going through."

"Its also not easy accepting those decisions." He retorted. A mid-long sentence went as he thought and then exclaimed a gasp. "…but I guss you're right."

She smiled and cupped his cheek. "Although, I couldn't believe it. We knew each other from a past life."

"Don't you mean lives?" He joked, referring to that they're reincarnations of Ancient Egyptian Robin-Hood teens.

She giggled. "I meant that we knew each other when we were babies."

{At The Beginning by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx from the movie 'Anastasia'}

(For suntan140. Thanks for the song request!)

Then she cupped his other cheek, taking his face in her hands. Her smile was soft and dreamy and loving. "I believe we're meant to be. After all, we knew each other as kids and as different people."

He returned the smile. She smiled again.

Kokoro: We were strangers, starting out on a journey

Never dreaming, what we'd have to go through

Now here we are, I'm suddenly standing

At the beginning with you…

Grabbing her hands into his', Davis stood up, taking her with him. He was grinning at her.

Davis: No one told me I was going to find you

Unexpected, what you did to my heart

When I lost hope, you were there to remind me

Kokoro beamed.

Kokoro: This is the start…

Davis/Kokoro: And life is a road that I wanna keep going

Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing

Life is a road, now and forever, wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning

I'll be there when the storm is through

In the end I wanna be standing

At the beginning with you

Within the song, they changed appearance, transforming into their past lives, Kiseki and Corazon. (for suntan140!)

Kokoro: We were strangers, on a crazy adventure….

(Crazy adventure…)

The couple reversed back to their younger selves throughout the song, starting with their toddler forms, symbolizing how they first met.

As kids, they twirled around joyfully.

Davis: Never dreaming, how our dreams would come true

Davis/Kokoro: Now here we stand, unafraid of the future

At the beginning with you

Then they changed to their summer camp clothes, where they re-met after years apart.

Kokoro shyly drew her eyes away while Davis grinned flashily.

Now their style changed to when they had their DigiWorld adventure together.

Knew there was somebody, somewhere

A new love in the dark

Now I know my dream will live on

I've been waiting so long

Nothing's gonna tear us apart…

They changed back to their current selves, and also changed back and forth to as Kiseki and Corazon.

Kokoro: (And life…!)

Davis: He-yeah…

Davis/Kokoro: Life is a road that I wanna keep going

Love is a river, I wanna keep going on…

Kokoro: Standing out on a journey

Davis/Kokoro: Life is a road and I wanna going

Love is river I wanna keep flowing

In the end I want to be standing

At the beginning…

Back to their current selves, they gazed deeply into each other's eyes. They leaned in for a kiss.

Kokoro: Beginning…

Davis/Kokoro: With you...

Kokoro: Hm…

But before their lips barely touched, Kokoro's fingers brushed Davis's amulet and got zapped.

"Ouch!" She yelped, taking her hands away to massage her fingers.

"Kokoro!" Davis exclaimed.

"I'm ok." She said, looking at his amulet.

He held the amulet up by the chain, inspecting it with an raised eyebrow. "Its got some kind of security lock on it."

"I remember Luna getting zapped a greater deal when she touched it. It seems like only you and your mother could wield it without getting zapped."

"Yeah…" Then Davis's lips curled impishly. That was something she hadn't seen for a while. "Maybe Annalise or Anya wanna try it on?"

"Uh, Davis!" Kokoro gasped, shocked and slapped his arm but she was smiling.

"Anna won't mind! That girl could take a lightning bolt to the head with no problem. And Anya- well…maybe she would mind."

Kokoro couldn't help but giggle at his sheepish, mischievous idea.

"Knowing me, I probably already did that when we were kids!"

Then she laughed, along with him.

Annalise was peeking through the window's curtains, smiling. "At least Kokoro brought him out of his slump."

"Temporary." Anya pointed out. "The real question is how to get him out of his misery for good."

"You make it sound like he's a sick animal needed to be put down."

"Coming to terms to something like this takes time. Months, years even." Darien said, remembering how long it took for him to accept his parents' death plus having anmesia of his past. He knew how Davis felt in all of this.

"I don't know if Davis has the patience for that." Annalise remarked. Laughing a little.

Meanwhile, the little kids played on the floor, oblivious to what had happened minutes ago. They dropped a book as they ran around. Lori picked it up, eyes furrowing, finding it a Japanese mythology book for first readers.

"Anna-chan, Awn-chan, I think I know why the kids hate Cleo." Turning to her superiors, she opened the book on two pages bearing an Japanese illustration of a white cat on its hind legs with an angry face and big paws with sharp, long claws.

"That looks like Cleo when she's agruing with Kari's Gatomon." Helena noted.

"It looks like me!" Atsuko piped just for the heck of it.

"It's a bakeneko*. A demon." Lori deadpanned.

Annalise snapped her fingers. "I get it! The kids think Cleo is a demon cat."

"So Cleo really didn't do anything to them?" Quartz said questioningly, scratching her head with her long left ear. "I thought she would have."

"Were we ever that gullible?" Anya asked blankly.

"We were kids! We didn't know anything yet!" Annalise protested.

"I did. I always have the superior intellect."

"And the inferior personality. Sometimes I rather bond with a rock than you."

"Oh shut up, you!"

{Immortals by Fall Out Boy from the movie 'Big Hero 6'}

During their conversation, the kids carried on playing and running. Somehow they ended up outside. The autumn season brought early nights so it was already dark outside.

They were unaware of the shadows around them moving.

They say we are what we are

But we don't have to be

I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way

I'll be the watcher (watcher) of the eternal flame

I'll be the guard dog of all your fever dreams

The kids let out loud and shrill screams when the shadows shot up from the ground before them.

"Bogeyman!" Risa shrieked.

Her shriek alerted her parents and their friends.

"Risa!" Raye and Jude yelled.

"The kids!" Mal exclaimed.

"Oh no!" Mina gasped.

Oooooooh

I am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass

(glass, glass)

Oooooooh,

I try to picture me without you but I can't

Davis and Kokoro jumped at the sudden commotion.

"He'sh back!" Veemon cried

Kokoro gasped and ran fast over, guiding the kids back inside. But a black wisp curled around Rui's ankle.

"Rui!" Kokoro cried.

'Cause we could be immortals, immortals

Just not for long, for long

And live with me forever now

You pull the blackout curtains down

Just not for long, for long

Hotheadly, Davis charged with a battle cry, taking a huge leap at the boogeyman. Rui was hanging upside down, screaming his little head off. Davis clawed at the black, icky skin to reach Rui.

Then he looped an arm around the boy's small body. "I gotcha!"

"Lightning Paw!"

Cleo's flashing bright punch to the creature caused it to throw Davis and Rui up and they fell down fast. Davis covered Rui up as he took the hard impact to the ground, gaining a face full with pain.

Rui laughed, finding the fun in the danger. "Again!"

"One ride per lifetime!" Davis exclaimed.

We could be immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

"Rui!"

"Mama! Daddy!"

"Here ya go." Davis handed Rui to his parents, his mother already hugging him protectively close.

Darien grasped Davis's shoulder, smiling with gratitude. "Thank you."

Davis smiled back. "No problem."

Sometimes the only pay-off for having any faith

Is when it's tested again and again everyday

I'm still comparing your past to my future

It might be your wound but they're my sutures

Then Davis looked away and glared at the creature of his childhood nightmares. He gripped his amulet.

"V-Hearts, transform! Daisuki Miyamoto!"

"Blue Dragon!"

"Eos Dawn!"

"Silver Cat!"

"Hong Qiang!"

"Pink Bunny!"

"Free Spirit!"

"Yellow Hawk!"

"Miko Fire!"

"Red Lion!"

Oooooooh

I am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass (glass, glass)

Oooooooh

I try to picture me without you but I can't

Daisuki Miyamoto let out a battle cry as he charged at the massive shadow monster, katana gripped in his hands and held high above his head.

'Cause we could be immortals, immortals

Just not for long, for long

And live with me forever now

You pull the blackout curtains down

Just not for long, for long

The V-Hearts fought well and hard as they did last time.

We could be immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

The boogeyman growled, frustrated with the fighting. In his huge arms and hands, he formed a ball of more darkness. It spread out, becoming a swirling, black and purple vortex.

Immortals

And live with me forever now

Pull the blackout curtains down

Hong Qiang looked up and called out to her friend in warning. "Davy!"

Daisuki Miyamoto broke free from fighting to stare at the whirling mass of black and purple just as it got bigger and bigger by the second.

We could be immortals, immortals

Just not for long, for long

We could be immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

Immooooooo- immortals

(Immortals)

He yelled, swinging his sword but the vortex consumed him and his friends and their Digimon in a blink of an eye.

Serena screamed their names. "Davis! Kokoro! Annalise! Anya! Lori!"

{Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston RIP}

Daisuki groggily lifted his head up while kneeling. He realised he was surrounded by total darkness. For a moment, he thought he was in a limbo again.

"Davish!" Blue Dragon cried, suddenly appearing. "Where are we?"

"I don't know…"

Sunna Honour was in the background again, standing with no music equipment. Not like she need it with her already powerful voice.

Sunna Honour: I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

"Davis!"

Eos Dawn emerged from the dark and tackled her boyfriend. He wrapped his arms around her tight in return. Over her bare shoulder, he saw Silver Cat attacking Blue Dragon more vigorously than her partner. Hong Qiang stood brave and strong, her rapier in hand as she was on the lookout for anything funny and Pink Bunny's ears wrapped her legs as she cowered. The black-haired warrior woman had overcome her fear of loneliness ages ago, so the darkness doesn't bother her anymore. Miko Fire was clinging desperately on Free Spirit and not on Daisuki for a change. Red Lion was curled up against Miko Fire and Yellow Hawk was hovering over her partner.

"Is it me or does this look oddly familiar?" Free Spirit quipped as she took a look around.

"It does?" Eos Dawn questioned, looking back and leaning back, her arms looped around Daisuki's shoulders and neck.

The current situation was so familiar to them. They were there before.

As children, innocent victims of kidnapping. Snatched from their loving homes and forced into a place of fear.

Everybody's searching for a hero

People need someone to look up to

I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs

A lonely place to be

And so I learned to depend on me

Daisuki remembered vividly.

He was a boy no older than 3. A little younger than when he met Serena. He was in a very dark place and he was scared beyond words to describe his feelings. Every child was scared of the dark at some point and he was no different.

He wasn't alone. There were four girls, all the same distressed and terrified state as him. Two older girls, one girl his age and a bawling baby lying on her back.

In spite of her fear, he remembered the girl of his age uncurling herself from her ball position to help and calm down the baby, her crying calming down to whimpering. On her clothes read the name 'Lorraine'.

"Who are you?" He blurted out.

The girl jumped at his sudden shout and started to stutter. "…K…K-K-Ko…ko…ro."

He let go of his fear to smile warmly. "I'm Davis."

Then his fear came back. He huddled against Kokoro over the baby. A hand patted his back, making him look up, seeing one of the other girls. She was just as scared as him but she put up a brave smile.

"Its gonna be okay, don't worry." She promised.

"Its not's going to be okay, Anna!" The other girl wailed.

"I'm just trying to make things better, Awnie!"

Their first meeting.

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows

If I fail, if I succeed

At least I'll live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all

Is happening to me

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all

He remembered why they were there.

They were kidnapped by the Boogeyman. The black creature fed off the fears and negative feelings of children, sucking the very life of the innocent for its own lust. Since Nori was the monster's mortal enemy, her son was frequently targeted.

Daisuki remembered that.

As if it was possible in the dark, a shadow loomed over the five kids. The young toddlers became even more scared and found themselves feeling weak, slowly becoming numb, pale, near dead…

But Davis, while groaning, he raised his head up, not liking what was happening to the girls. He had the strength to glare up at the monster.

"Leave dem alone!" He shouted in his babyish talk.

He stood up, feeling new strength running in him. Feeling more protective of the girls instead of feeling scared of the monster, he felt stronger, refreshed. (I know, lame right? I'm just writing with the flow).

He ran around, helping the girls onto their weak legs and pulled baby Lorraine onto his back. The baby made cute grugles.

He felt his shirt tugged and turned around. Kokoro was blushing. "T-Thank you."

"Look out!"

Suddenly they were tackled to the ground. Anna was top of them, protecting them from a huge swipe.

"You leave us alone, you big bully!" Awnie yelled, shaking her fists, defending the kids from the nightmare monster. Then she faced Davis. "How do we get out?" He didn't answer. He just stared at her while thinking deeply. Just like when they 'first met' years later in the DigiWorld. Although she was talking to a 3 year-old, Awnie was getting impatient. "Well? I don't suppose you have any idea on how we can get out?"

Suddenly, a light ripped through the darkness, revealing an angry orange-haired woman.

Next thing they knew, they were in a daycare, tended by adults. They remembered talking non-stop of their wild but true stories and the disbelief displayed on the grown-ups' faces. The brush offs and rebuffs infuriated them, causing the five to mistrust adults for a time.

Davis huffed. "Why don't they believe us?"

"We're children. They think we're behaving childish." Awnie answered.

"We're kids, we are suppose to be childish." Anna retorted. "They think we're lying."

"I ain't lying! This is lying!" Davis exclaimed and then he promotely fell flat on his face, causing the girls at his sides to laugh.

"I like you. Ya got spunk." Annalise slapped his back, although it was a bit too foerceful and made the poor boy to kiss the floor again, this time unintentionally. "Opps, sorry. Dunno my own strength."

Davis sat up, smiling. "Nah, its ok. You're really strong for a girl." He looked past her, directly at Anya. "And you're really brave."

Anya attempted to hide her blush with her glasses. "Why, thank you."

"Wanna be friends?"

"Sure!"

"Yeah!"

"Ok."

"Ya!"

Little Kokoro blushed shyly. "I…never have friends before."

Suddenly she shrieked when Davis pounced and hugged her around the shoulders.

"Now you do!"

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Back outside of the beast, inside the house, Serena watched worriedly, backed by her husband and friends.

"We have to help them."

Serena turned and ran upstairs, up to her and Darien's bedroom, rummaging her drawers until she found what she was looking for: The Silver Crystal.

Daichi was still sawing logs when the madness started. A sudden kick to his chair rudely woke him up.

"What in ramen?!" He sprung up, holding his kendo shinai and covering his face with his kendo mask, really to strike whoever woke him up.

"Watch the kids and stay awake!" Raye told him, being the one who kicked him.

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows

If I fail, if I succeed

At least I'll live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all

Is happening to me

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all

"We're inside of him? Gross!"

Back in the belly of the beast, Blue Dragon on gagging on the very idea.

"I agree, little blue. Blaf!" Hong Qiang heaved.

"Get us out of here!" Free Spirit screamed. She was more like irriated and angry than afraid.

Daisuki growled and clutched his hands. "This place shouldn't scare us anymore! We faced our fears, we looked fear in the eyes and I even got sexually assaulted by my fear!"

He yanked his amulet out and summonded a great solar beam. The bright light consumed the inside of the monster and it shrieked.

Like a balloon, its body popped. The V-Hearts were flying out with yells all the way and crashed.

"Ow." Daisuki groaned, face in dirt.

And if, by chance, that special place

That you've been dreaming of

Leads you to a lonely place

Find your strength in love

The strips of black formed together, recreating the boogeyman back to scary normal. Daisuki glared at the boogeyman, his mother's enemy, believing it was responsible for her overworking.

Time to take it out. Permanently.

"I can't just blind him anymore! I have to stop him once and for all!"

{On Top of the World by Greek Fire from Big Hero 6}

Davis: On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

Yeah, oh….Yeah, oh…

Dying on top of the world

His face hardened with a scowl. That was a red flag for his friends, meaning that he was going to do something rash.

"Davis, wait!"

He ignored the pleas. He kept on singing.

I remember the nights

Caught up in dreaming my goodbyes

Watching the door for anything more than an ordinary life

He took out his katana as he headed determinedly forward, intending for a one-on-one.

I remember the days

New beginnings on an open page

With something to prove, and nothing to lose, not a soul to betray

Here I am

Living a dream that I can't hold

Here I am on my own

Then he took a large leap, lashing his sword right across the black monster's face, getting shrieks and roars out of the thing.

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

I'm dying on top of the world

I remember the lies

Caught up in building paradise

The angels were slaves, and demons behaved, and everything was alright

One huge, black swipe forced Daisuki flying back, crashing against the hard ground.

Daisuki grunted as he forced his lazy body up. He knew he needed a chance to somehow try rid of the monster once and for all.

Here I am

Living a dream that I can't hold

Here I am on my own

When he almost fell on his side, two gentle hands grasped his biceps and held him up.

He lazily looked over his shoulder. Serena was helping him. And she was wearing a white regal dress with pearl ornaments fit for a princess and a gold crescent moon on her forehead.

"You don't have to do this alone." She begged of him. She took one of his hands and offered her free one. "Let me help."

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

I'm dying on top of the world

Daisuki stared at her hand, hesitating. But eventually he took her offer.

They held hands, hold one pair right out, facing the monster with equally determined expressions. With their chests touching, the Silver Crystal and Golden amulet combined.

I hear the crowds beneath me

I'm wishing they could reach me

But I'm on top of the world up here I'm dying alone

Inside the walls of gold, outside of happiness

(It's all been a show, too late to confess)

No room for heart and soul

No room for innocence, innocence

Their loved ones were getting anixous from the sidelines. Davis's team watched on, feeling very scared. Although the girls and Digimon knew their boy had a head as thick as a cannonball and a will strong as steel, they were very worried.

He meant so much to them. He brought them together. Twice.

He was more than a friend. He was a brother, an equal, a lover, a mentor, a partner.

"Davis…"

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible

I'm dying on top of the world

Daisuki and Princess Serenity continued glaring at the Bogeyman with all the hate and determination in their hearts. They aimed the combined power of their items, the Silver Crystal's purifying power and the Golden Amulet's light power, creating an extremely powerful beam of bright white and gold, engulfing the huge beast. It shrieked as its black hide turned grey.

And burst into black dust, ultimately gone.

Daisuki and Princess Serenity separated and fell down, incredibly tired out. Thankfully, the fused-together amulet and crystal only tired them out, not kill them like Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity did in The Promise of the Rose.

They reserved back to their citizen forms, surrounded by their family and friends.

The nightmare was finally over.

Dying on top of the world

Everyone was inside, recovering. Davis laid back on the couch, wiped out, beside Veemon, laying his head on Kokoro's shoulder. Serena was in a comfy with Darien looking over her, hugging her sleepy son. Lita came in with a tray of hot drinks, offering them around.

"Thanks, Lita."

"Thank you."

"Arigatou."

"So what do we do now?" Helena wondered.

"Get back to Odaiba for the Autumn festival and confront out parents about our adventerous childhood, perhaps?" Anya suggested slyly, eyes narrowing more.

Annalise gulped down her drink and whiped her lips clean with her wrist before speaking. "Yeah, I wonder why they never mention it to us after the summer camp fiasco. None of our parents ever mentioned us going missing for anytime."

"Nori said the police won't investigate at the time." Mina mentioned, helping in.

"My mother has been chief of police since I was born." Lori said cautiously, wondering if her dedicated mother had turned her back on this matter.

"My father is pretty overprotective." Kokoro said.

Davis snorted. "Lucky you, my dad-" He stopped, frozen. His eyes widedn in realization at something, realized it with a growl. "My dad…"

"Uh…" Annalise quirkily whined, staring at Davis going into another angry fit.

"He must've known about this!"

"Now Davis, calm down…"

Everyone in the room, apart from the little kids, tensed. The girls were very aware of his relationship with his father. Even the adults got the impression he doesn't get on well with his parents.

"Maybe Mr Masao has his reasons…" Helena offered.

"Masao? Masao Motomiya? You're Masao Motomiya's son?" Nathanial asked. "He's the electronic engineer at my centre."

"So that's where he is." Davis snarled, standing up and walking out.

"Where're you going?" Serena questioned worriedly.

"To talk to my dad. And this time, he's gonna listen to me for once!"

He slammed the door after him, leaving a stunned silent room behind…

Until Atsuko uttered. "Uh oh…"

"This is going to be bad." Veemon whimpered. He often get left behind whenever his boy goes off after a bad fight with his dad, which he didn't mind. He figured he needed the time to cool down.

"Family quarrels are bitter things." Quartz citied.
