Chapter 51 (Jerome's pov)
We were in a car outside of a cupcake bakery.
"Can we at least get some cupcakes?" I asked.
"No. This isn't the time for cupcakes!"
"Of course! It's always time for cupcakes!"
Trixie and Alfie answered at the same time. She glared at him.
"Alfie drove, so we get cupcakes!" I declared.
Patricia shot me a look. "But I'm your girlfriend."
"True... Lets take a vote."
"I'm with Patricia. What if Rufus is out there?" Joy questioned.
"But we have to have an excuse for Mara and Mick." Alfie pointed out.
"Fine." Patricia gave in.
"I'm staying in the car. Bring me a cupcake?" Joy asked.
"Vanilla?" Patricia questioned.
"Of course."
"I'm getting my cupcake!" Alfie yelled, running into the bakery.
"I'm coming, too!" I ran after him.
"Wait for me, Jerome!"
"Hurry up, Trixie!"
"I'm trying!" She called as I ran faster.
(Patricia's pov)
"Two vanilla cupcakes, please!" I said.
"Make that three!" Jerome came up to me.
"Ok. Anything else?" The man behind the counter asked.
"One chocolate cupcake." Alfie replied.
"Here you go." He said, handing me the bag. I gave Jerome his cupcake.
"What about me?" Alfie asked as we got to the car.
"You wanted one?" I questioned.
"What!? You mean that cupcake wasn't for me!?"
"No. It's Nina's. Chocolate's her favorite."
"I need a cupcake!" He ran back to the store.
"Was it really Nina's?" Jerome asked.
"Well, there's one for her. But he also has one."
"You're getting better at pranking, Trixie."
"I know. I mostly did that for payback for making me pay for them. I was the one who didn't want to go in."
"Nice one." He high-fived me.
(Fabian's pov)
Which way was it? Right or left? I chose left. Sure enough, Alfie's car was right in front of me. I honked my horn. Patricia and Jerome were getting in the car.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"We got cupcakes. Want one?" Patricia questioned.
"Not right now. Where's Alfie and Joy?"
"Joy's in the car and Alfie's getting a cupcake."
"Ok. Jerome, go get Alfie. Patricia, get in the car." I ordered. Jerome and Patricia did as I said. "Now, we wait."
A few minutes later, Jerome came out the door, dragging Alfie by the ear.
"I wanted a cupcake!"
"You already ate five!"
"Get in the car, Alfie! You need to drive!" I yelled.
"Ok." He sulked into the car.
"Just stay behind me." I said as I started my car.
