When Finn first opened his eyes, he thought he was blind. Everything was dark. Complete, utter, darkness surrounded him.

Suddenly, bits of light started to fill the place. He could vaguely see.

"So this is the realm of nightmares," said Finn timidly.

"You are correct," said a voice from the shadows. "Welcome to the very place where me and my brothers were born."

Finn looked behind him. He could see Pitch Black with the Nightmare King, now humongous, bigger than Chernabog, and towering above him. Behind Pitch was an army of his nightmares.

Finn drew his sword and pointed it at Pitch.

"This ends now!" Finn yelled. "I am here to end this once and for all!"

Pitch and the Nightmare King burst out laughing.

"You are a fool!" Pitch yelled. "You think you can defeat both of us? No you will die here! And once you, your girlfriend, your friends, Shrek, and all those other heroes are dead, me and the Nightmare King will rule this entire world over Nightmare Kingdom!"

"You will rule!?" yelled Finn. "What about Maliss!? I thought he led the Overtakers!"

Pitch laughed menacingly again.

"It is true, that Lord Maliss rules over the Overtakers," said Pitch. "But I rule over Nightmare Kingdom! I am the master of nightmares and fear! I created all of this! So in others words, I am practically the leader of the Overtakers!"

Finn clutched his sword.

"If you are truly the leader of the Overtakers," he said. "Then just like Chernabog, I will defeat you!"

Pitch chuckled, and the Nightmare King laughed.

"Then come at me!" Pitch yelled.

Finn yelled and charged at Pitch.

"ATTACK!" yelled Pitch.

Pitch pointed his hand at Finn and his nightmare horses charged at him.

Finn saw the horses and stood ready for an attack.

The charged at him and Finn slashed them away, turning them into black sand.

Pitch smiled at Finn. He then turned to his brother.

"Do your thing," he said.

The Nightmare King smiled. He then opened open his cloak wide and about a dozen shadowy hands came flying out towards Finn.

Finn saw then coming and prepared to defend himself. Unfortunately they weren't as weak as the horses were. Finn was only able to slash a few of them, while the others hit him hard.

Finn flew back in pain. His vision was blurred for a second, everything being pitch-black.

When his vision returned, he heard a yell and saw Pitch coming at him with a shadowy scythe. Finn stood up and collided with him, clashing weapons.

"You can't defeat us!" yelled Pitch.

He spun his scythe around towards Finn but he jumped over it, dodging it.

"I beg to differ!" yelled Finn. "I defeated people like you before and I will do it again!"

He swung down but was blocked again.

Finn was now getting really angry. He slashed and swung his sword constantly at Pitch.

The boogeyman kept blocking him and throwing dark dust at him. Finn blocked them as well.

"Die! Die!" Finn yelled. "Why won't you die!"

As Finn then swung at Pitch again, he disappeared into the shadows.

Finn prepared for him to emerge and attack, but instead the Nightmare King smashed down on Finn.

He laughed as he removed his fist, revealing Finn to be smashed into the ground.

"Ouch…" said Finn.

He began to sit up when suddenly Pitch appeared over him.

He grabbed Finn by the neck.

"Why aren't I dying?" he asked. "Because you are too afraid to kill me!"

"You monster!" yelled Finn. "I AM NOT AFRAID!"

He grabbed his sword and plunged it into Pitch, but surprisingly he did not die. He wasn't bleeding nor did he show pain.

"How?" asked Finn.

"Go ahead," said Pitch. "Stab me as much as you want. I am not afraid of death. Fear protects me. It keeps me alive, and as well as my brother."

Pitch bent down and whispered into Finn's ear. Finn could feel fear filling him up as Pitch breathed down his neck.

"On the other hand," he whispered. "A weak, pathetic boy like you is weak against fear."

"Let's see how fear truly affects him!" bellowed the Nightmare King.

Pitch nodded. He then grabbed Finn's arm.

Immediately images started to flow into Finn's mind. Visions of snakes and spiders slithering and crawling all around him flowed through his brain. Darkness spread through his mind. His whole head was poisoned with pure, dark, fear.

Tears began to form in Finn's eyes, and then he screamed at the top of his lungs.

He let go of his sword and it fell out of Pitch. He continued to lie of the ground and scream like a little kid.

Pitch and the Nightmare King laughed loudly at the screaming boy.

"Do you see!?" Pitch yelled. "Do you see!? DO YOU SEE!?"

Finn slowly opened his eyes, his body trembling with fear.

"Yes…" Finn said weakly.

"Do you know what that is!?" Pitch yelled. "Do you know!?"

"Pain…fear…darkness…and…." Finn said.

"And what?" Pitch asked.

"Hell…" Finn sighed. "I'm in hell…"

"Oh you know nothing of hell," Pitch said. "Hell is only a word, but the reality, is far much worse. I know it. I've seen it."

Finn gritted his teeth and grabbed his sword.

"Then let me send you back so you can see it again!" Finn yelled.

He slashed at Pitch but he easy chopped down on Finn's shoulder, making him fall to the ground.

Pitch bent down and grabbed Finn's head.

"No, let me show you what hell truly is!" Pitch yelled.

Images of fire and lava, along with demons appeared. Finn screamed out as he saw visions of his friends getting ripped apart and their insides torn out of their bodies.

"FINNNNNNNN!" Finn saw Amanda yell out his name as she was ripped to shreds.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Finn yelled as he broke free of Pitch's grasp.

Pitch and the Nightmare King laughed as the helpless boy struggled to find his sword. Blood was dripping from his head.

"NO!" Finn yelled. "They're…not…dead! They're….not dead!"

"No," said Pitch. "Not yet at least."

Finn found his sword and grabbed it, yelling as slashing at Pitch.

"YOU….WON'T….TAKE…MY….FRIENDS!" Finn yelled as he slashed at Pitch, unfortunately making no contact.

Eventually Pitch grabbed Finn's arm as he was about to strike again. He then punched Finn's repeatedly and then sent him flying back.

Finn looked up at Pitch and saw him disappear down into he shadows again.

Finn grabbed his sword and began to sit up, when suddenly Pitch appeared in front of him. He raised his palm at him and forced him down.

"Fear is the true heart of the world," said Pitch. "It is full of darkness, but sometimes full of beauty depending on who you are. As for me, I loathe it!"

"But for someone like you!" bellowed the Nightmare King. "You chose to fight it, and you end up killing yourself."

Finn glared at the two.

"Make him suffer," said the Nightmare King.

Pitch raised both his hands and immediately dark sand began to swirl all around Finn and Pitch.

Then, the sand flowed into Finn, still swirling the two. The visions of his worst fears, and memories of pain and suffering flowed through his mind. He screamed out in fear. The images of his friends brutally killed flowed through him.

"You see now boy!" Pitch yelled. "You are in Hell! You are in your worst nightmare!"

Finn did his best to stand up, but the darkness was too strong.

"We know your fears Finn Whitman!" the Nightmare King yelled. "You have no secrets you can hide from us!"

Pitch then walked up and grabbed Finn by the neck.

"And you will die, just like the rest," he said. "You, your friends, the whole world will fall to darkness, and it will be all because of you. Because you were afraid, and let yourself fall to darkness.

Finn could feel himself getting so weak. He did his best to keep the sword held tight. The darkness began to flow into him. His sight was growing weak. Darkness was taking over him.

"That's right Lawrence," Pitch said. "Let it take over you. Let yourself fall to darkness and relive yourself of fear. That's enough."

Finn couldn't do anything. He knew he was beaten. He was going to die, and the Overtakers were going to win.

"You have lost," Pitch said. "Your friends have fallen, and you have failed. You have failed everyone. There's no point in continuing now. Everything you have done that has led to this was for nothing. Your sword cannot bring harm to me, and your body is too weak, bruised, and beaten."

The Nightmare King laughed loudly.

"There is nothing you can do to beat us now!" he yelled. "It will only take a miracle for you to be able to kill me, Pitch, and destroy Nightmare Kingdom!"

Finn sighed weakly. The darkness was almost done poisoning him.

"You have nothing left," said Pitch.

Finn said nothing. He knew he was beaten, and that darkness was about to kill him.

Just then, something inside Finn hit him. Something inside him was telling him to fight on. Something was motivating him not to give up. Something was power the light within his heart and soul.

He gritted his teeth.

"I…have…nothing…left?" Finn asked.

"Yes! That's right!" Pitch said. "You have nothing."

Finn shook his head.

"Then it will be alright then," he said.

Pitch was shocked. He showed surprise.

"What!?" Pitch said. "What did you say!?"

Finn then grabbed Pitch's arm. Pitch started to shake.

"I said it will be alright!" Finn yelled. "Didn't you hear me the first time you bastard!?"

"What!?" Pitch yelled. He was really beginning to shake. He couldn't sense fear in Finn anymore.

"I don't need my friends or a miracle to defeat you!" Finn said.

Pitch just stared at him. Finn's eyes were full of anger.

"What's going on!?" Pitch said in his mind. "What is this feeling that I feel in my heart!?"

"I have something else in me," Finn said. "Something else that makes me strong, and something that can defeat fear!"

Pitch then gritted his teeth. He slashed his hand and made darkness fly at Finn, but something blocked them and reduced it to ash.

Suddenly, Finn's chest began to glow. Pitch let go of Finn's neck and dashed out of the swirling darkness. He flew up to the Nightmare King.

"Brother something is happening!" Pitch stammered. "KILL HIM NOW!"

"Why can't you?" asked the Nightmare King.

"Something is preventing me!" Pitch yelled.

Suddenly light poured out of the swirling darkness. It blew away the dust and revealed Finn standing there, perfectly calm. His DHI blue outline suddenly turned into a pure white, just like light.

"KILL HIM!" yelled Pitch.

The Nightmare King roared and slammed his fist down at Finn, but as he hit Finn, a burst of light shot from him, making his whole hand disintegrate.

The Nightmare King roared loudly. He looked down at Finn who started to step towards him.

Something made the Nightmare King actually step back instead of attacking Finn.

"What is going on!?" yelled the Nightmare King. "Why isn't this brat affected by our darkness or fear!?"

"And what is this feeling inside us that is making us not able to attack him!?" yelled Pitch.

"My guess, it's fear!" Finn yelled.

The nightmare brother stared down at Finn.

"FEAR!?" they yelled. "That's impossible! We are the masters of fear! We are not afraid!"

"Then attack me," Finn said in a calm voice. "Give me your best shot!"

The Nightmare King and Pitch stared at Finn, completely astonished and afraid. They raised their hands and tried to shoot darkness and fear at Finn, but they couldn't. They were too afraid.

"Why is this happening!?" yelled Pitch. "How can we be afraid of this…this…little brat!? He's not special! He's not a hero! He's a useless and pathetic nothing!"

"But yet he's just standing there…so calm!" stammered the Nightmare King. "What is this power in him!?"

"Are we going to fight?" asked Finn. "Or are we just going to sit in the corner and cry in fear."

The two just stared at Finn, eyes wide open.

"You…" said Pitch. "What the hell are you? Tell me! How is this possible!? What are you!?"

"My name is Lawrence Finnegan Whitman," said Finn. "My friends and family all call me Finn. I am the leader of a group of heroes called the Kingdom Keepers. I live in Orlando Florida and I am graduate of high school and now currently in my first year of college."

"NO! NO! NO!" yelled Pitch stamping his foot. "That's not what I am asking! I'm not asking you for your name! I already fucking know that! I'm asking you what are you! You're just standing there so calmly, with no fear! No human can do that! What are you!?"

Finn stared at them.

"I'm just me," he said. "I just the same old me."

Then he smiled.

"But I have something inside that makes me strong," he said. "Something that defeats and protects me from fear! Something that powers the light within my very heart and soul!"

He clutched his sword.

"It's bravery," he said.

"What!?" the two yelled.

"It's bravery!" Finn yelled. "Bravery, or courage! The one thing that defeats darkness and fear. And my heart is filled with it!"

"No…!" Pitch said. "You're nothing! You're a useless, pathetic, worthless, weak, and stupid little nobody! You're not a savior, or a hero! You're weak!"

Finn shook his head.

"No my friend, you are the weak one," Finn said. "I on the other hand, am a hero. I am the Child of Light! The destroyer of darkness!"

He pointed his sword at Pitch and the Nightmare King.

"AND I WILL DEFEAT YOU!" Finn yelled.

Suddenly light exploded from Finn. He began to grow wings made of light. The blade on his sword grew longer.

He then looked at the two and yelled at them, charging straight at them.

"Together brother!" Pitch yelled. "We unleash our power together!"

The Nightmare King nodded. He began to form a ball of darkness in his hands. Pitch then went inside the ball.

Finn was closing in.

"UNLEASH!" yelled Pitch.

The Nightmare King then shot darkness from himself and Pitch straight at Finn.

Finn saw the blast coming towards him, yet he did not move. He went straight into the blast, knocking it away with light.

"NO!" yelled Pitch. "IMPOSSIBLE!"

"YOU'RE DONE PITCH!" yelled Finn.

"KILL HIM!" yelled Pitch.

The Nightmare King roared louder and shot more darkness, but Finn was unaffected.

"This can't be!" yelled the Nightmare King.

"I WILL DEFEAT YOU!" yelled Finn as he closed in.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" the brothers yelled as Finn made contact with them.

White light exploded everywhere.

Pitch and the Nightmare King looked down. Finn's light enhanced blade was impaling both of them. It went right through them both.

"It's over," said Finn.

"But how?" Pitch asked weakly. He could feel the pain. Black blood dripped form Pitch and the Nightmare King's chests. "How could you possess the power to defeat us? You're nothing."

Finn shook his head.

"I don't need to be something special to defeat you," Finn said. "Bravery lives in everyone. It's what makes us strong."

"Everyone?" asked the Nightmare King. "Just like fear."

"No," said Finn. "People only have fear if they let it take over bravery, but no matter what everyone has the power to fight their fears."

"The Overtakers will avenge us," said Pitch. "They will find a way to get back at you."

"Face it Pitch," said Finn. "You have lost. Nightmare Kingdom is done. And now it is time for you to die."

Pitch chuckled silently.

"You little fool," he said weakly. "I…will never die. I will always live in people who have fear. I…am…forever!"

Those were Pitch's last words before he and the Nightmare King exploded into light, as well as the realm of nightmares.

Finn could see through the light in the distance the unfinished Nightmare Kingdom crumbling to the ground.

Finn smiled as he felt light overtake him.

"It's over," he said. "We won."

Light exploded everywhere. Nightmare Kingdom was destroyed. Pitch and the Nightmare King were dead.

It was all over!
