Azalea woke up in the loft a week later and stumbled out of bed with a groan. She swayed slightly on her feet as she made her way to their makeshift living room where she came upon the sight of what looked to be a sit down between Derek, Peter, and Braeden, although it seemed that Peter and Braeden were the ones actually doing the negotiating while Derek was preoccupied by trying to make sure Juno didn't cut her mouth or hit herself with the pair of sunglasses she was currently trying to play with by flinging them around hazardously in her small hands.
Braeden crossed her boot clad feet on the coffee table and Azalea leaned against the wall placing a hand over her mouth to stifle to her amused smile when she saw the absolutely appalled look on Peters face.
"The table's Italian" He stated clearly not amused by the gesture.
"So are these boots." Braeden countered gazing at him uncaringly, "Are we going to talk interior designing and fashion or are we going to talk numbers?"
Peter glared at her while Derek have a distracted but slightly amused smile shifted Juno to stand in his legs when she started to fuss. Peter wrote down a number one a piece of paper, and slid it across the table to her and Azalea watched are she took one look at the sheet and automatically crossed out the written number and replaced it with one of her own.
Peter glanced down at the paper and stared blankly at her for a minute before responding in the usual Peter manner "We're hiring you to find Kate, not assassinate the President."
"I was hired by the Calaveras to find Kate." Braeden corrected and Azalea scowled at the name "You're hiring me to find her first. Going against the Calaveras is what's going to cost you."
Peter huffed and wrote down another number and slid it across the table, Braeden didn't even so much as glance at it before she slid it back and Peter scoffed dramatically pushing himself away from the table and plucking Juno from Derek's grasp, immediately settling her on his hip and walking away in a 'I'm so done' manner.
Derek scowled and leaned forward with a huff, "We'll pay. Just find Kate."
Braeden gave a nod and stood up, she nodded in recognition to Azalea when she noticed her leaning against the opposite wall and Azalea nodded back feeling Dereks gaze shift to her form.
"Are you insane?" Peter questioned handing Juno off to Azalea who squealed happily at her mother while he slammed the loft door closed.
"We don't have a choice." Derek reminded him are we got up from the couch to face his uncle, "we spent a week looking for her and came up with nothing."
"If we don't find out who told Kate about the vault, we don't get those bonds back!" Peter shouted at him causes Juno to startle slightly and turn her big green eyes towards to daddy and uncle Peter, "What do you think I'm gonna do then, huh? Get a job?"
Azalea snorted, "That's what you're worried about?"
Peter glanced at her before turning his attention back to his nephew, "We were robbed, Derek." He said "Robbed"
Peter made the mistake of reaching out to grab Derek's shoulder and in response Derek spun and grabbed his arm. His eyes glowed a harsh gold as he growled at his uncle, causes Juno to start crying.
"Okay that's enough" Azalea scolded at the same time that Peter commented "Oh, that's a new look for you."
"what happened to your eyes?" Peter asked and Derek caught Azaleas worried gaze, "I don't know" he said slightly more calm.
"But I'm wiling to pay to find out."
Azalea let out a sigh as she dropped hazardously into her seat in algebra later that morning, she missed her baby and was worried about Derek and not at all in the mood for math.
Azalea watched as Malia entered the class room took one look at the board and turned right back around and snorted out a laugh, before frowning slightly when Malia was herded back into the room by Stiles. Azalea didn't get much time to get to know Malia, she knows that her and Stiles were in Eichon house together and that they apparently have something going on now but all of that was happening at the same time that she was giving birth, and then taking care of her daughter and then everything that has been going on with Derek and she just hasn't had the time, that causing her to be a little apprehensive of the girl and a little protective over Stiles.
"I hate math" Malia protested as she took the seat behind Stiles who had sat down at the desk next to Azalea, "It's pointless"
"It's school." Stiles told her, "School is important and math is essential."
"To what?"
"Knowing how much to tip at restaurants" Azalea said and Stiles grinned at her.
"And other less important things like medicine, economics, engineering.." Lydia listed off sarcastically while Azalea threw her a wink.
"Tipping." Stiles reiterated with a smile causing Azalea to laugh and Lydia to roll her eyes.
As the class began, the teacher called people up to the board to work out the bath problems written on them, "All right, volunteers to the board. "Lydia, Diego," her eyes stopped briefly on Azalea before noticing her glare and wisely skipping over her, "Malia."
"Um.. I didn't volunteer." Malia said panicking
"You did now." She said her nodding toward the front "to the board."
Stiles turned to give her a thumbs up and she growled lowly at him causing Stiles to widen is eyes in surprise and smile sheepishly, Azalea rolled her eyes at them and crossed her arms scooting down in her seat to make herself more comfortable.
Azalea was watching Lydia whisper to Malia at the bored disinterestedly when Stiles phone vibrated and he nudged her with her foot to show her the alert on his screen
"Tipple homicide…"
"An axe murderer?" Kira asked, as Azalea and Stiles stood by Scotts locker while he switched out books
"A family murdering axe murderer." Stiles told her.
Azalea patted him on the shoulder, "Thanks for clarifying"
"I already heard about it" Scott confessed ignoring her antics
"Wait, what?" Stiles asked him
"How?" Azalea added
"My mom called me" Scott reveled, "She knew we'd see it on the news."
"Perfect. Let's go." Stiles commanded as he lightly grabbed Azaleas arm to head toward the exit
"Whoa, whoa." Scott interjected, "We've got econ in five minutes."
"What?" Azalea asked incredulously
"Did you forget the part about the family murdering axe murderer?"
"Did you forget that your dad's the sheriff?" Scott countered "They want us to stay out of it"
"I'm sorry" Azalea scoffed "Have you met us?" she said motioning between her and Stiles
"Maybe we should just let the adults handle it." Kira offered.
"so the two of you, you just want to stay here, school, to go to class" Stiles questioned them to which they remained silent, "Never heard anything so irresponsible in my life"
"Come on Azalea" Stiles said tugging her arm and she gladly followed after him
"see you at tryouts?" Scott questioned sheepishly
Stiles made an irritated gesture in response and Azalea stuck her tongue out at him as they rounded the corner.
Azalea jogged down to the field as the players were ending their final laps and stopped next to Scott and Stiles cackling at Stiles prone form, Scott having to hold him up as he fought to catch his breath.
"He isn't human" Stiles was saying as she walked up his gaze focused on the blonde freshman doing push ups on the field, the boys had told Azalea about his suspicious level of skill and she tilted her head in contemplation at him. "What is he? Like a Were-Cheetah?" Stiles continued looking at Azalea "Does that exist? Is that a thing?"
Azalea pursed her lips at him in amusement and sighed.
"I think he's just good." Scott claimed
"Probably the most likely explanation" Azalea said amusement heavy over her voice before turning her attention back to Stiles "Are you okay?"
He shook his head, "I'm gonna puke" he said "Take me somewhere"
Scott nodded seriously and moved to help him off to the side of the field and Azalea tossed her head back cackling again as she made her way off the field letting Scott and Stiles know that she was heading home to Derek and Juno and wishing them good luck.
At the loft Derek and Azalea were flipping through the case files Braeden had obtained from the sheriff station while Juno napped in her baby swing at their feet. "There's nothing in here about Kate." Derek commented to Braeden as he closed the file, "This killer used an axe."
"Actually, he used a military tomahawk" Azalea corrected him looking at the crime scene pictures.
"That's not in this report" Derek said slapping the file down on the table and raising an eyebrow at Braeden.
"I know" She said plainly.
"Are you going to tell us what else you know?" Derek asked his voice unamused
"Not yet," She admitted "Cause I don't really know much."
"But you know something" Azalea countered knowingly, she might have called in a favor from Braeden but that didn't mean that she trusted her.
"Maybe." Braeden replied with a shrug of her shoulder "The problem is the people I need to talk to right now, don't talk to people like you."
"Like me?" Azalea questioned raising a brow at her when she noticed that comment was aimed at her.
"The Winchesters are notorious, feared, and powerful, but you're family has also been to hell and back literally, you have powers given to you by demon blood, you associate with actual angels, and you procreate with werewolves." Braeden said pointedly nodding her head toward the sleeping little girl at their feet. "You're blacklisted."
"You want us to wait for you?" Derek questioned not hiding his lack of trust in her.
"I want you to trust me." She corrected looking them both dead in the eyes.
"And why would we trust you?" He countered back, "We don't know anything about you."
"Yea well I know you" She said turning to Derek "I know what you really want. You want what Kate stole form you." She spoke in a language that Derek didn't understand but Azalea did as she translated it realizing were she as going with this "It means the true nature of someone is reflected in their eyes." Azalea said grasping his hand.
"In your case," Braeden continued, "The color of your eyes."
Derek stared at her and Azalea squeezed his hand.
"You've got a week."
