Snowball Fights (In Winter)
"Will you two tell me where we are going?" Haruhi asked the twins.
Hikaru and Kaoru grinned. "Nope," they smirked.
Haruhi sighed and looked around the airplane. She wondered why she had gotten on the airplane in the first place and let them lead her without her knowing where their destination was. Probably some beach. They were perverts.
Haruhi laughed to herself and thought, Because I love those perverts. That's why I followed them blindly.
Hikaru spoke up from the seat across from Haruhi where he was sitting with Kaoru. "Do you want something to eat or drink?"
Haruhi thought for a moment. "Maybe a glass of water."
"No fish?"
Haruhi shook her head. "Not right now. Maybe when we land."
Hikaru stood and called a flight attendant. He ordered a glass of water for Haruhi and two glasses of grape juice for him and Kaoru. He sat back down and Haruhi asked, "Do you guys have a bathroom on this plane?"
Kaoru nodded. "Yeah, I'll show you where."
"That's really not necess-" she protested as he held out his hand.
He shook his head and took Haruhi's hand, pulling her to her feet. He headed towards the back of the plane. "This way." He headed towards the back of the plane and opened a door. "In there."
Haruhi stood still for a moment, taking in the luxurious airplane bathroom before she muttered, "Rich bastards." She entered the bathroom and Kaoru headed back to his seat, chuckling.
Hikaru looked up from his book as Kaoru took Haruhi's seat across from him. Kaoru motioned to the book and asked, "Has Haruhi gotten to you?"
"No." Hikaru shut the book and set it down on the table between them. He didn't need to mark the page; he knew the page number.
Kaoru smiled smugly. "Sure."
Hikaru needed a change in conversation. "Do you think she suspects where we are going?"
"I doubt it. She's quite naive and I think she's already forgotten the conversation we had."
"Well, at least it will be a surprise."
….~...
"We'll be landing in ten minutes," the flight attendant announced before disappearing back behind the curtain. "Please put on your seatbelts."
Haruhi raised an eyebrow, clicking her seat belt into place. "Will you guys tell me now?"
"Nope," they said in unison.
Haruhi rolled her eyes and turned back to her book. She read right up to when the plane landed. "Now?" she asked tiredly.
The twins unbuckled their seat belts and stood. They took out a winter coat from behind a seat and handed it to Haruhi. She pulled on the jacket suspiciously as they put on their own. The door opened and a cold breeze blew into the jet.
Kaoru peeked out the door. "We are in Maine."
"In the USA?" Haruhi asked incredulously. "Why?"
Hikaru came up behind Haruhi and put a hand at her waist. "Because you said you've never gone cross-country skiing before. Maine is the best place to do that."
"When did I say that?" Haruhi said, her forehead scrunching up as she struggled to remember.
"Last week when you were over at our house," Kaoru answered.
Haruhi's eyes widened. "You remembered?"
"Of course," Hikaru answered stepping forward. "Now come on! I want to ski!"
…..~...
"How did you like skiing?" Kaoru asked Haruhi as they were walking back to the inn they would be staying in.
"It was fun, a little exhausting, but fun!" Haruhi answered with a smile.
Kaoru smiled back at her and looked around. "Where did Hikaru go?" he asked.
Haruhi behind her. "I could have sworn he was behind me…"
At that time, Kaoru was hit with a snowball on his shoulder. He yelped and looked around. "Hikaru!"
Hikaru popped up behind a snowdrift holding several snowballs. "Yeah?" he asked with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Kaoru rolled his eyes and leaned down to pick up a handful of snow. In the process, he earned a snowball on the side of his neck. He leapt up straight and brushed the snow away hurriedly. "Cold! It's going down my shirt! So cold!"
Haruhi giggled and Kaoru turned to her. He threw a snowball lightly at her and she dodged. She ran to the side of a small shack and hid behind it; though in the process, she got hit by Hikaru in the side twice. She scooped up a handful of snow and compacted it into a ball. She peered around the corner of the shack and saw Hikaru still behind the snowdrift and Kaoru out in the open getting blasted by snowballs.
"Truce!" Kaoru pleaded.
Hikaru grinned, "There are no truces."
"How about an alliance against Haruhi then?" he suggested hurriedly.
Hikaru stopped his barrage of snowballs. He turned and made eye contact with Haruhi. "Okay," he agreed animatedly.
Haruhi paled. Kaoru rose from his previously crouched position and scooped up a snowball. He called, "Oh, Haruhi…"
As much as Haruhi's pride and stubbornness said to stand and fight, her logic overruled all. She turned and ran after throwing the snowball and hitting Hikaru on the face.
"Get back here, Haruhi!" Hikaru shouted as he and Kaoru took off after her.
Haruhi thought quickly as she ran. I can't outrun them, and there's practically no chance of me beating them in a snowball fight, even if find a makeshift fort… Haruhi glanced around and saw a snow covered barn in the distance. It was the one next to the inn, the one that the innkeeper had said they were welcome to since nothing useful was kept there anymore. Her mind formed a plan. Maybe…
…..~...
"She went in the barn!" Hikaru shouted. He raced to the door that Haruhi had entered and found it locked. "Locked," he told Kaoru.
Kaoru looked around. He found a window, not that far from the ground. "Can you boost me in that window?" he asked.
Hikaru studied the window for a moment and nodded. "Yeah, I think so."
Kaoru and Hikaru started towards the window. Hikaru had just interlocked his fingers to give Kaoru a boost when they heard a rumbling above them.
Kaoru froze. "Thunder?" he asked nervously.
"I don't think so. It sounded like-" Hikaru was cut off when the snow from the roof slid down onto them. Hikaru and Kaoru both tried to leap out of the way but were too slow. The snow fell on them and they fell to the ground. It was not thick enough to harm, just hard enough to daze.
Haruhi exited the barn and walked in front of the twins. "I win!" She turned around and ran to the inn.
Kaoru leaned his head back and groaned. "Man. We fell right into her trap."
"She's clever," Hikaru said affectionately as he watched Haruhi enter the inn.
Kaoru stood up, dusting the snow off of him before holding out a hand to his brother. "Too clever," he grumbled.
Hikaru smiled. "Sometimes. Now we need to get back before she drinks all the hot chocolate."
"Or we could drink it from her lips. That would get a reaction out of her."
Hikaru grinned mischievously. "How uncomfortable do you think we could make the innkeeper without her kicking us out?"
Kaoru grinned identically. "Let's find out."
