Chapter FORTY-EIGHT: The Dagger
They all decided to take Mr Gold up to Neal's apartment. Both the Professor and Neal carried him up the stairs to his apartment, and set him on the couch, to which Mr Gold grunted. Once he was on the couch, Emma and Strax entered the apartment, where Emma said, "We found a storage room for our stab-happy pirate in there."
"We tied him up so securely that not even the toughest Sontarans could break through," Strax said.
"Hook shouldn't be causing anyone else anymore problems," Emma continued. "And, get this. He had a map on him. It looks like he sailed his ship here."
"How do you get a pirate ship into New York?" Neal asked, as he looked up from his father's wound.
"It's been cloaked by Cora," the Professor said.
Emma went over to Henry, and said, "Don't worry. He's not gonna hurt anyone of us."
The Professor go his phone out, and started to walk out the room. "I'm gonna call Kate. Maybe she See if can take Hook of our hands."
"She'll arrest him, right?" Belle said, as she stayed close to Mr Gold.
The Professor nodded. "That's the plan," he said, before walking out the room.
"So, is Mr Gold gonna be okay?" Henry asked.
Strax went over to the couch and got his device out. "This technology has capacities and abilities beyond anything your puny human mind could possibly understand. Try not to worry," he said, as he started to look at Mr Gold's wound.
Both Emma and Neal left to go get some things that may have been to help, when Henry went over to Mr Gold. "Mr Gold. Are you alright?" He asked.
Mr Gold got up slightly, and said through clinched teeth, "You stay away from me, You caused this. You brought us back here. You did this."
The Professor came back from his phone call with Kate, and went over to them. "Henry. You wanna help your Grandpapa, don't you?" Henry nodded. "Okay. I need you to go over to the window and look for a helicopter, Could be military styled..."
Henry went over to the window and started to watch out for UNIT.
Neal came back with a new cloth, and said, "We gotta get him to an ER fast."
"No. What would be the point of that?" Asked the Professor, when he saw the infected wound. "Oh, jeez..." he then muttered.
"What the Hell is that?" Emma asked.
"It's poison. This is one of Hook's own making," Mr Gold explained. "There's no antidote in this world. It's not from here."
"Here. Let me," the Professor said, as he waved his hand over the stab wound, which glowed bright yellow.
"What was that?" Belle asked.
"It'll prevent the poison from spreading. At least, for a while."
"There's gotta be a way to save him," Neal said.
"There is, there is," Mr Gold said.
"Storybrooke. There's magic there now. We need to get him back," Emma said.
"I'll get a car to take us," Neal said, getting up.
"No, no, no. There's not enough time. We need something faster," Mr Gold said.
"I'll call Dad," the Professor said, as he took his pone out again and dialled the number to the TARDIS. But there was no answer. He hung up. "Strange. Usually he picks up."
"Hook's ship..." Mr Gold said.
"The Jolly Roger instead of a car ?" Emma asked.
"It's the fastest vessel in all the realms."
"Well, that's great. But who'll captain it? Since the only guy qualified wants you dead."
"I can do it," the Professor said. "I once helped save Buckingham Palace with my dad on Christmas Day."
"Wait … That was you?" Neal asked.
"Yeah. It was. "
"Well, I think you are more qualified than me," Neal said.
"You know how to sail a pirate ship too?" Emma asked Neal.
"Yeah. I do."
At the same time as this was happening in New York, Mary Margaret and David drove their truck up to the Storybrooke Monastery, where they were greeted by Mother Superior. They got out of the truck, and went over to her.
"Mother Superior! We need your help," Mary Margaret said.
"I know. Something is wrong," Mother Superior said. "I sense a great deal of dark magic has been expelled."
"That's why we're here," David said. "Cora and Regina are trying to find Gold's dagger."
"So they may control the Dark One?"
"We're hoping your magic will find the dagger first," Mary Margaret said, and Mother Superior nodded. "Please, Mother Superior. You're our only hope."
Back in New York, Neal paced around his apartment, and cleared his throat, which got Emma's attention. "What are you doing?" She asked him.
"Getting us a car," Neal responded, as she started to text on his phone.
"I thought we were gonna take a ship," Emma asked back.
"Yeah, well, we still gotta get his arse to the ship."
"So, you know Hook?"
"It's a long story. Short story is this world wasn't my first stop when I left home."
"No?"
"If it was, I'd be a couple of hundred years old by now," Neal said, as he got a text back. "That should be our ride. Hang tight."
The Professor had been looking at Emma's phone himself because it was flat. Once he got it working, he said, "Emma. You need to see this..."
Emma looked up. "What is it?"
"A text from your parents," the Professor said, giving her phone back.
Once she had her phone, she started to read it. "Bad news, Gold," she said.
"What? Worse than incurable poison?" Mr Gold asked.
"I don't know. You tell me. You got a dagger hidden in Storybrooke that's the source of all your power?"
"Get to the point."
"Cora's after it. The only way to stop her is if David and Mary Margaret get to it first."
"Let Cora try."
"You can't seriously be willing to risk this. Not with your son coming back with you to Storybooke."
"Emma..." the Professor began, "Cora will not get that dagger. It is in the most safest place. I've seen it, Belle's seen it, and Rumple has seen it. She will not even be able to pass the defences either..."
"Here's the thing," Emma said. "You're dying. And now, we are your best hope. Time's come for you to start trusting people. And if I were you, I'd start with family."
Back in Storybrooke, Mary Margaret, David and Mother Superior were standing outside Mr Gold's pawn shop, attempting to get inside.
Mother Superior sighed, then aimed her wand at the door, focusing on getting it open. After a few seconds, she dropped her wand in pain. "Ah..." she exclaimed, and panted. "He's cast a protection spell."
"Well, we need to try something equally powerful," Mary Margaret said.
"Dark magic?" David asked.
"Dear. You don't know what you're saying," Mother Superior said.
"Cora can't get that dagger," Mary Margaret said. "If dark magic is the only thing that can break that protection spell, we need to make an exception and use it. Just what you told me once before."
Mother Superior looked at her. "I never told you any such thing."
"Look I kept you secret..."
Mother Superior looked at her, when David got a phone call. He picked it up, and started talking. "Emma? He told you where it is?" He nodded, then hung up. "We have to pay a visit to the Doctor."
