Prompt: Overly-Overprotective Peter, Overprotective Edmund, completely ignorant Susan, and Caspian asking Lucy's father if he can marry her! for LoverShadowGirl
Lucy pounded on the door, "Susan! I need the bathroom."
"One moment." Susan snapped back. She had been saying one moment for about twenty minutes now. Lucy sighed and ran downstairs to use the other bathroom. She quickly brushed her hair and threw on some lipgloss and mascara. She came out to find Edmund and Peter leaning on either side of the doorway.
"So…" Edmund began.
"A boyfriend." Peter continued. "Who you've been seeing for over two years?"
"And this is the first time we get to meet him, because?"
"Because, we both go to university in America. Because he works at a hospital and rarely gets days off where he can travel home. Because you're both overprotective twits." Lucy listed off as she rushed into the kitchen to see if her mother needed help. Much to her annoyance, her brothers followed suit.
"That sound's like a string of excuses."
"Mom and Dad have met him!" Lucy huffed as she grabbed the plates to set the table.
"We did!" Her mother chimed in, "He's a very nice gentleman. I like him a lot."
"Oh sure, take her side…"
"Peter! Stop acting like a child this instant or I swear I will ground you."
"Mother, I'm twenty-eight!"
"I will treat you like a child if you insist on acting like one- you too, Edmund." She snapped at a snickering Edmund, who instantly stood to attention. "Now both of you, help your sister. Your father will be back with Caspian at any moment."
"I wish I could have gone to pick him up." Lucy sighed, while Peter made a vomit gesture. Lucy would have thrown a plate at him if it weren't for her mother's calming touch on her back, "He said he wanted to talk with your father alone."
"Most likely to butter him up." Edmund snorted, "That way he won't have to worry about Pete, Dad and I all gaining up on him."
"Enough, Edmund." Their mother sighed, "Where is Susan? SUSAN!"
"What?" Susan called as she entered the dining room all dolled up. A car horn beeped outside and Susan quickly threw on her heels and grabbed her purse. "Where are you going?" Edmund asked.
"On my date…" Susan drawled as if it was obvious.
"Susan-"
"Su-" Everyone tried to interject at once, but Lucy's quiet, hurt voice cut through. "You're suppose to meet Caspian tonight."
"Oh Lu," Susan giggled, "You two are due to break up soon- according to Cosmo-"
"Susan!"
"Mother!" She shot back, "It's just the truth. And I didn't see any point in postponing my date to meet a man I will never see again."
"Right." Lucy snapped, "Meeting a man you'll never see again, that is why you go on your dates. Except you sleep with them first."
"Lucy!" Their mother looked about to faint and even Edmund, the king of sarcasm and arguments, looked uncomfortable. Susan simply turned on her heel with a "hmpf!" and walked out the door, just as Caspian and their father arrived mid the confusion and arguing. Seeing Lucy's expression, Caspian ran over to her and pulled her into a hug.
"Susan," Their dad called in confusion, "Where are you going?"
"Out."
"We're meeting Caspian tonight."
"She doesn't see any reason to." Lucy snapped, her voice muffled by Caspian's embrace.
"Well seeing as he's going to be your brother-in-law, I'd meet him."
"What?"
"Huh?"
"But?"
Everyone's voice collided as Lucy pulled back from Caspian with joy, "You asked his permission? You are so old fashioned!"
"I told you, it only seemed right." Caspian smiled, "Besides, apart of you must have agreed if you didn't tell anyone we were engaged."
"I guess so." She smiled.
"Oh, goodness! I'm so happy." Her mother wrapped them in a big embrace. "Let's see the ring." Lucy smiled and tugged at the chain on her neck, which had a diamond ring at the end. She smiled as her mother examined it. Edmund came over and clapped Caspian on the back, "You hurt her and-"
"You'll kill me." Caspian nodded.
"Oh no." Peter said from his other side, "You'll just wish you were dead."
"Oh leave him alone you two!" Their mother scolded, "Go set the table."
