Garrus flicked his mandibles as he looked around the CIC. He'd just spoken with Shepard - who was rather grumpy and kicking things across the floor of her quarters - about going with the ground team to Sur'Kesh. Of course, Shepard initially said no, but after Deacon pitched it and dubbed it the 'reunion team'...Well it was Shepard. She couldn't say no after that point. Even she couldn't argue that the shuttle couldn't hold Wrex, Garrus, Deacon, and herself - they'd fit the whole team in the same model shuttle during their run with the Collectors - and agreed to the idea of a reunion run.
So here he was, looking for a streak of bright blonde hair in an officer's uniform among a sea of blue. Not an easy task. Liara was too buried in her own work to even leave her quarters at this point, so it left Garrus to tell the freshly made Commander T'Loak that this would be her training run when it came to being in command of the Normandy. That's when he noticed her.
She was standing and talking to Wrex's krantt, the krogans that had come with him, in a stance he'd come to know serving under Shepard. The do-as-I-tell-you stance.
"-And I told you," A krogan with black head plates said, staring her directly in the face. "That I listen to Urdnot Wrex and Urdnot Wrex only."
"Urdnot Wrex is currently on board Commander Shepard's ship with her permission. She has ordered me to have you moved off the CIC and down to the cargo hold." Lauren raised her voice. "I don't believe Urdnot Wrex would be very happy with you if you didn't do as she asked."
"Listen here squishy human-" He leaned in close to her face. "I'm not moving. I'm a member of Urdnot Wrex's krantt-"
That's when Garrus noticed that Lauren had suddenly decided to stand on her toes and lean her head back. He recognized that from his trip with Shepard and Grunt when he had to go through his rite. Lauren brought her forehead down and slammed it against the krogan's with enough force to send the krogan back a few inches.
Members of the crew jumped in surprise and shock. The krogans seemed surprised as well, backing up immediately when they noticed she hadn't actually moved from her spot and her face had twisted into a look of anger. The krogans all looked at each other before walking away and following her orders, stunned by the use of a headbutt.
"Fucking krogans." Lauren muttered. She brought a hand up to rub at her forehead. "Ow."
"I always wondered who Shepard imitated on Tuchunka." Garrus commented. "Hell, I should have figured it was you."
"Yeah, Deacon's not into subtle acts of violence." Lauren sighed. "Can I help you Vakarian?"
"I'm going with the ground team to Sur'Kesh."
"Why? Does Shepard suspect something?"
Garrus shook his head. "No. But I'd stay on my toes."
"Does something always go wrong on your missions?" She raised an eyebrow.
Garrus twitched his mandibles. "It's Shepard."
"Point taken." She brushed past him, headed for the galaxy map. "Have fun."
