Ch 54

HEY AGAIN! So, I was bored and decided to post. What fun!

Thanks for the favorite habblez!

Thanks for the reviews: patty cake rocks (Thanks, yeah Steve and Alyssa being cute is fun isn't it!), Absent minds (I never said I was splitting them up. I could have meant something else. And I am not hurting anyone for a while I don't think. well, Sam in this chapter.), Sapphire Roz (Thanks! I try to be funny every once and a while.), and FireDraken (Thanks, the interview was fun.)

Now it's the Story. Return of Sam, see how things are going and all that cuteness.

Two weeks later I am awoken from a loud knocking on my door at two in the morning.

I walk to the door with Bandit trotting behind. The door opens to reveal Steve carrying Sam. Sam had obviously been shot in the shoulder.

"Oh my god, what happened?" I ask suddenly.

"Had a run in with a hidden Hydra base. Sam got shot. He needs medical attention." Steve informs me.

"I can see he's been shot! Why aren't you guys at a hospital?" I ask as I let him in.

"Not a bullet." Steve says. "Poison. And I know you have the cure."

"I have the cure?" I ask. I direct the boys to my room and Steve lets Sam onto the bed.

"Yes, you do. Natasha gave you a sample from the Hydra poison months ago. You gave it to your friend Simmons to get a cure. I know you have the cure." Steve looks to me.

"That cure. Right! You get stuff to clean the wound, I'll get the injection." I direct Steve. We both go in different directions. I go into my closet and pull out the case. I grab the liquid and get it into the injector. Then I grab the cure.

"This is going to numb the wound and help it heal faster. I promise it probably won't kill you." I tell Sam who is still clearly in a lot of pain.

"PROBABLY?" he yells.

"I'm kidding. It won't. I made it. I don't make things that don't work. Never learned how." I say and I stick the injector into his arm. Sam yells from the injector.

"Its just a needle Sam. Like at the doctor. Stop being a baby." I roll my eyes.

"You just stuck a needle in me full of a questionable serum you made!"

"And I am about to do it again." I say as I stick the cure into the arm closest to the wound.

"YEOUCH! I get shot and now poked! What am I? You're freaking guinea pig?" Sam asked.

"No. And the serum isn't questionable. I made it. Now, Steve is going to fix your wound." I say as Steve comes in with a first aid kit.

"He got the cure?" Steve asked.

"Oh, I got it alright." Sam rolled his eyes.

"Your friend is a drama queen Rogers. He got a needle and it hurt." I told Steve as I walked out of the room.

"Sam doing okay?" I ask as Steve leaves my room and closes the door behind him.

"Yeah. He's fine." Steve says and we both head to the couch. "He said you gave him a serum and the cure?"

"Yes." I say.

"What is it?"

"I was testing out my enhancers. I crossed referenced my genetic code with Natasha's. I was able to isolate the enhancers. Mine are slightly different than hers. Some are completely different. Both of us have enhanced immune systems, slowed aging which is kind of cool, and enhanced durability. Those were the only ones I could isolate. Then I got a hold of some extemis. Tony had some from when he was curing Pepper. I did some tinkering and mixed the two. This came out of it."

"Is it safe?"

"Yeah. After Clint fell out of a fifth story window and onto a car, he was banged up. I hit him with the serum. He's fine. It worked."

"Did it enhance Clint?"

"Nope. Deteriorated in his system after it helped heal him."

"That's amazing. Its amazing you can do that."

"I'm a genius Steve. You should expect nothing but amazing." I smile cheekily.

"I don't expect anything but amazing from you Aly. You are amazing."

"I know I'm amazing, I don't need to be reminded. How's the Bucky hunt coming?"

"Long. We're still looking." Steve groaned.

"You look exhausted. You should get some sleep."

"I'm fine." Steve waved me off.

"When is the last time you slept?"

"I was asleep…"

"For seventy years? Steve don't pull that excuse with me."

"I sleep."

"When? Lay down here. I'll curl up in the chair."

"No. Don't leave." Steve said as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer.

"You okay?" I ask. "You are never this touchy feely."

"It's been a month since I've seen you."

"You called two days ago."

"Not the same."

"We Skype called each other yesterday."

"Still not the same. And that Skype call was all Sam. I had no clue what I was doing."

"So are you trying to say the you are a cuddler? Tough guy Captain America likes to cuddle?"

"I don't cuddle."

"You are right now. Look at us. This is cuddling." I point out.

"Okay… so cuddling is nice. Is that a problem?"

"I was never a cuddler. It was a touching thing. But this isn't as bad as I thought it would be."

"A touching thing?"

"You know how I don't like to be handed things? I also don't really like people touching me."

"I touch you. You don't have a problem with that."

"I need to warm up to people. I don't mind Jimmy touching me. I like you. I never minded you touching me. Still don't."

"Obviously. I'm touching you now."

"Obviously. But I also really like you. Really like you a lot."

"I like you a lot too."

"Good. You are still stuck with me." I smirk up at him.

"I like that. Being stuck to you." Steve smiles and leans down to kiss me. I meet him halfway.

"Now that we date we sure do kiss a lot." I realize.

"Well since we started dating you went on a mission then we had a few days, but I was in the hospital. Then I left for a month. I have seen you for a total of about ten hours since then."

"Sounds like you were counting."

"What if I was?"

"If you were, you are the sappy one of this relationship."

"Sappy? Its called romance." Steve tried.

"Where would you learn about romance? Romanoff teach you?" I snort.

"Ha! No. She would be no help in that. Barton gave me a book."

"That's worse!" I laugh.

"I was wary of it too. But it was right about one thing."

"What was that?"

"Making you laugh is the best thing in the world."

"Stop being a sap Cap."

"Wow, guys. You must have really missed that girl Cap." Sam said waking me up from my sleep.

"What the…?" I ask startled and the first hit of sunlight meeting my retinas. I realize at some point Steve and I had laid down on the couch and knotted together. I also almost fall of the couch.

"How's your shoulder Sam?" Steve asks, his arms going tight around me so I don't fall off the couch.

"Feeling good. Thanks guys." Sam replied.

"No problem Sam." I smile as I try to pry Steve's arms off me so I can move. "How did you end up at a hidden Hydra base anyway?"

"We figured Bucky would be wanting to find out about who he really was. The file from Natasha mentioned him spending time in this hidden base. Figured we'd check it out. He was there."

"And it went to hell." I filled in.

"Taking it lightly yes. It was fun until I got shot." Sam smirked.

"I'm sure it was a barrel of monkeys." I rolled my eyes. "Hungry?" I ask as I finally free myself from my sorta-boyfriend.

"Starving." Sam states.

"I figured such." I say as I head to the kitchen.

"Don't I get asked if I'm hungry?" Steve asked.

"Your metabolism burns four times faster than an average human. You're always hungry."

"I like you Steve and all but… why did you guys almost divorce?" Sam asked suddenly as Steve and I were working on making breakfast.

"What do you mean Sam?" Steve asked.

"What did you do? I am assuming it was you who did something. You guys look like a perfectly fine couple. Why did you almost get a divorce?"

"What makes you think I did something?" Steve looked at Sam. I stifled a laugh.

"I highly doubt Alyssa did something."

"I think you and Natasha didn't tell Sam the whole story." I eye at Steve.

"Is there more to the story?" Sam asked intrigued.

"Steve and I didn't get married like normal people. Either way I was going to have to get married. I was in danger of becoming a Hydra experiment or something. Marriage is the easiest way to hide someone I guess. Steve volunteered. We were just friends until the day we were supposed to end the marriage." I informed Sam.

"That is twisted. You realize that?" Sam asked.

"Yes it is." I say.

"But it worked out. You're safe. We are now in a relationship of some kind. Can't complain too much." Steve added.

"Mind you, Fury was a little mad. But after a few minutes he admitted to not really being surprised." I remembered fondly of the scary ass man.

"That's true."

"Hey, whatever works for you guys." Sam looked between us. "But really? You didn't figure it out until the last second?"

"Talk to Alyssa about that one."

"Don't blame me. You never said anything about actually dating."

"Neither did you." Steve pointed out.

"Well when did you figure out you were so incredibly in love with me?" I ask.

"Not until the last mission before we were supposed to get annulled."

"That's bad. That is the last possible moment."

"When did you figure out you were so incredibly in love with me?" Steve asked.

"Not until I walked into Fury's office." I admit.

"That is absolutely the last possible second Alyssa."

"Not my fault. I blame genetics."

"You can't blame Tony for everything."

"I'm not. I'm blaming my assassin mother. I have a feeling that woman was born without emotions." I cross my arms.

"This is very entertaining for me you two. Your mother was an assassin?"

"Like Natasha. Except without the cute and cuddly side. She was evil and Hydra. Never met her." I shrug.

"So basically you're a super genius and a bad-ass rolled into one?" Sam looked at me.

"Finally! Someone who gets it!" I cheer.

"You forgot self-obsessed, volatile, work-obsessed, inappropriate, stubborn as hell…" Steve started to list.

"Thank you. I really appreciate you mentioning that old guy." I pat Steve on the shoulder.

"Love you too Aly." Steve smiled and rolled his eyes.

"I like her Cap. Keep her around okay?" Sam laughed at the interaction.

"Thanks Sam. Nice to have the support." I nod.

"Don't worry Sam, I plan on keeping Alyssa around for a long time." Steve looked to his friend.

"You almost divorced. I don't trust you." Sam reminded.

"He has a point. Don't screw this up." I point to Steve. "I might be the only girl on the planet you aren't awkward with."

"You both suck."
