Later that night, Tony and Charity lay in bed. Charity's head lay on his chest and his arm was wrapped around her. "So, do you want to talk about what happened today?" He asked.

"You mean with my grandma?"

"Yup."

"Well, I told her and Lisa about the baby...Lisa was excited...and Joanne was making a big deal about us not being married." Charity explained. "She then proceeded to lecture me that we needed to get married just because it's the right thing to do. Then all of the years of resentment I have built up towards her spilled over and I started throwing food at her."

"Why did you start throwing food exactly?" Tony asked, trying not to laugh.

"Well...I thought that just getting us kicked out of the restaurant instead of me going to prison for killing her." Charity answered.

"Fair enough." Tony replied, kissing the top of her head. "Did it make you feel any better?"

"Surprisingly yes." She answered.

Tony chuckled. "What did you tell her?"

"About what?"

"About her comments on us needing to get married."

"I just said that we hadn't talked about it and that I'd rather you want to marry me because you love me and not because you knocked me up."

"I take it she didn't respond to that very well."

"Nope." Charity replied. "Now, let's get some sleep. I have a long day ahead of me at the hospital."

"Okay. I love you, Charity." Tony replied, kissing her forehead.

Charity snuggled deeper into Tony's arms. "I love you, too Tony." She then closed her eyes and was asleep in seconds.

Tony stayed awake for a while. He just watched Charity...he really hoped that after the things her grandmother had said, that she would be happy about him proposing on her birthday. He was now afraid more than ever before that she might say no. I just have to take the chance. He thought as he leaned over and kissed her forehead once more.

The next day, after Charity headed for work, Tony got ready. He headed for the office that Katie worked at. He arrived and was taken to a conference room and given a cup of coffee. He sat down and waited. After about ten minutes, Katie walked in wearing a tailored charcoal gray pant suit. Her under shirt was a light blue and she wore soft make-up.

"How are you doing, Tony?" She asked, taking a seat across from him.

"Good. How about you?" He replied.

"Good. So, what's this meeting about?"

Tony reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring box. "I ordered this a month ago for Charity. I want to give it to her on her birthday, but I'm not sure how."

Katie took the box from him and opened it up. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped as she looked at the ring. "OHMYGOSH!" She squealed.

Tony grinned. "I was hoping you could help me figure out how."

"Do you have any plans or ideas of your own?" Katie asked.

"I was wanting to do something based off of one of her favorite movies." Tony answered. "I was hoping you could help me figure out which one."

"Oh, I can do that." Katie replied, smiling. She then leaned back in her chair and pursed her lips in thought. "You know she still likes Disney movies, right?"

"Yeah." Tony answered. "She explained that one to me when we were in the cabin."

"Ever since she was a kid, the movie that's really stuck with her has been The Little Mermaid." Katie replied. "If you could find inspiration from that movie, that would be good."

Tony thought back to the most memorable scenes from that movie, trying to think of which would be the best to use. It hit him then. "The scene where they're in the boat, in the lagoon." Tony said.

"That would be perfect!" Katie agreed. "I can help you find a place to recreate that scene."

"I would very much appreciate that." Tony told her.

Katie closed the ring box and handed it back to Tony. She looked at him and saw the doubt in his eyes. "She'll say yes." She told him. "The things that she's been through...they put her in a dark place...you brought her out of it. That stuff...people don't always come back from it, Tony. You've made her the happiest I've ever seen her. There's no way she'd say no."

"Did you hear about her lunch with her grandmother yesterday?" Tony asked.

"No." Katie replied.

"She made a big deal about Charity and I not being married when Charity told her about the baby. She then told Charity that we needed to get married because it's the right thing to do." Tony explained. "You know how stubborn Charity can be...especially when her grandmother is involved."

"True." Katie replied. "But she loves you more than she can't stand her grandmother."

"I hope you're right." Tony replied.

"Oh come on, with that gorgeous ring, the big romantic gesture, and your handsome face she won't be able to say no. Her grandmother will be the furthest thing from her mind." Katie assured him.
