Chapter 51 – Epilogue
(Author's Note) *And this time I MEAN it…
"And, after two more years of exciting and challenging adventures at Hogwarts as documented in the upcoming sequel on Portkey entitled A Promise Restored, Harry and Hermione eventually lived happily ever after."
(Author's Note) (I threw that in there so this can actually be considered as an epilogue to Keeping A Promise.)
As promised originally, here's the somewhat obscure sci-fi movie quote from the previous chapter and its source:
"..What? What is going to happen?"
"Something wonderful..."
That was from the sci-fi movie 2010 and was a dialogue between Dr. Heywood Floyd (played in this movie by Roy Scheider) and Dave Bowman (played, as in 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Keir Dullea.)
If I remember correctly, only one of my original reviewers on Portkey caught the reference.
I vividly remember waiting in line with my parents to see "2001: A Space Odyssey" when it first came out in 1968…which proves just how OLD I have to be, eh?
For those who care about such things, I will be doing one more pass of "cleanup" posts to this story on FFN before I mark it as "completed". There were a few issues with some of the formatting that I tried to include here (bold and italic marks disappearing from the final posts, paragraph splits changing from what I intended, etc.) that I can clean up.
I will also be removing all the "+!" scene break marks that I was using as a temporary solution and replacing them with the FFN-allowed horizonal line marker, but there won't be any wording changes. Yeah, I'm a bit of a stickler about some of the pickiest things... comes along with my "day job" as a software quality assurance specialist, I guess.
It's been a real pleasure reading and responding to the "mostly positive" reviews and comments from all of your here on FFN. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts and your pleasure at reading the story. It makes all the effort I put into writing this story seven years ago AND the effort I put into reposting KAP here while working on the sequel worth it!
