A/N: Hey everyone, so, I know I shorted you on chapters last week and I'm really really sorry, I've been tryin to figure out my summer course schedule cause my calc 4 class got cancelled and then I started playing bioshock infinite and my jobs been taking a lot out of me but it'll all be okay, I'm going to have it all straightened out by Friday cause I'm going to Cedar Point and I usually like to have a clean slate for my little trips. Woot! Adrenalin! Can't wait!

Disclaimer: I still, to this day, do not, own devil may cry. (How many of your brains took pauses?)

Auras

Mitch started at the knock on the door, he could practically feel the tension in the air, they all knew something was amiss, the whole family could just tell.

"I'll get…"

"I got it." Mitch interrupted his mother, rushing over to the door and opening it to find…

"Trish?" he asked as the woman leaned slightly on the doorframe.

"I'm sorry to come unannounced." She said softly and it was then that the teen saw the blood leaking from her side.

"You're hurt!" he exclaimed and Mrs. Galvan rushed to the blonde's side.

"Please, Trish isn't it? Come in." she led the huntress to the kitchen and sat her down and came back with a wet rag. The she devil shook her head and pushed her away.

"I'll be fine, I just need a minute to recover my strength."

"You need help." Jackie insisted, pushing away Trish's feeble attempted at denial and wiping gently at the wound.

"What happened?" Mitch asked, pulling up a chair in front of the blonde, who winced as the teen's mother cleaned the wound.

"The Order has Dante, Nero and Lady too, at least I hope so, I fear for any other alternative. We felt Nero Trigger, and Dante… he just lost it. I got out but it took the last of my strength to do a transport spell to get here, that's why this… ouch! Damn wound isn't healing."

"Sorry," Jackie murmured gently, she'd dealt with plenty of wounds but none as drastic as this, she was honestly surprised that the woman was still conscious.

"Nero Triggered? Why? How?" Mitch asked, he remembered the partial devil talking about it taking a near death experience to initiate such a thing and he wanted to know what pushed his friend so far.

"I don't know." The she devil responded, shaking her head. "I went past Devil May Cry first, and it's completely compromised, overrun with demons that I've honestly never seen before. The only place that has strong enough wards around here other than the shop is your house and I didn't think that they'd bother to look here, they've been keeping track of Nero and since he hasn't been over here, they've lost interest in you."

"The shop's been taken?" Mitch's eyes were wide "What about all the devil arms?" he asked, honestly concerned. Trish gave a weak chuckle.

"Don't worry about those, they're warded separately and even if the wards are broken, the arms will never submit to such low lifes, they're pretty loyal to Dante, he treats them well."

"Why did you come here if they've lost interest in us, I don't mean to be rude but won't this bring the monsters back down upon us?" Mrs. Galvan asked

"I wouldn't have come if it weren't of the utmost importance." The she devil said, honesty in her blue eyes. "I needed to talk to Mitch."

"Me?" Mitch asked, looking surprised, Jackie looked surprised as well.

"Yes you, you and Nero saw a man demon the night that demons attacked your house right?"

"Yeah…why?"

"I'm sure he was part of the Order, but I think he was a rogue, I need to find him, I need you to tell me what he looked like and if you have any sense of his aura, I need to know that as well."

"You know that I can't feel demonic auras, humans can't." Mitch said, Trish put a hand on his shoulder then.

"Try, please, you've been around Nero for a long time, a lot of exposure to a devil, especially ones as high ranked as Nero and Dante, even myself can open up that sense in a human. Lady can certainly sense demonic presences, or haven't you noticed that?" A sudden understanding seemed to flood the teen's eyes and he closed them to try and help clear up his memories.

"He wore white, though it didn't really look it anymore, he had brown hair and…. A mustache? No, a beard. I don't remember what color his eyes were though."

"That's fine." The she devil said, starting to look more like herself, Jackie had stopped attempting to clean the wound as she focused on her son, looking surprised at his recollection skills. "What about his aura?" Trish asked "Can you remember anything about it?"

"Um… he had this… noble quality about him… except he seemed… I don't know, broken? Cracked? It almost reminded me of Nero but Nero's smooth, like well blended, this guy… wasn't?" Mitch crinkled his brows and looked at the huntress "I don't know, does that help?" he asked

"He's a hybrid, a created hybrid… that's what the Ascension Ceremony is…" Trish's eyes were wide "Yes Mitch, that helps me a lot, you have no idea. You're pretty good at picking those up, I can never find it in my vocabulary to describe them. When this is all over maybe your mom will let Lady take you under her wing and show you how to really tap into that." She gave a small wink and stood.

"Wait!" Mitch said, starting after her, she turned and looked at him.

"You can't come, I won't risk hurting you. You're too important to Nero, and to the rest of us." Moments later she was gone, leaving Mitch and his mother staring after her.

A/N: I liked that, not really dramatic or anything but sometimes there's gotta be a break in the action. I liked delving into the demonic aura stuff, it's not something that I feel like gets discussed but it's in practically every DMC fanfic, plus with Nero's arm, there's no denying that it's a thing. Also, I like the idea of Lady being able to sense them, it gives more credit to her capacity to fight them.

Till next time,
